It is ABSOLUTELY gorgeous out there! Ice and snow covered trees in bright sunshine!

Ok, this is a first. NJ Transit have stopped bus, train and handicap access busses tfn.

See what i mean? Bubble headed boobies! Snow started here @ 5 am. Almost to the minute of when they predicted on last night's news. Got about 7" so far. I'll be under my quilt if you need me!

Way back when I worked QA in a factory about 15 minutes from my house. At the time I drove a sporty little 2 door. Snow started about an hour after I arrived for my 2nd shift stint, 2 to 10 pm. By 4 pm the production floor shut down and everyone headed home. Called my supervisor to inform him that I would head our as soon as I finished up the paperwork. Got chewed out, informed there was plenty to do to fill the 6 hrs remaining of my shift, and if I leave I will face disciplinary action, not only for attendance violations, but for not following direct instructions as well. By quitting time snow on the road, a major highway, was so deep my tire tracks looked like a sled track where my undercarriage was dragging. 20 min ride took about 2 hrs of white knuckle driving at night. OK, I am finally home well after midnight. I crash, and when I get up around 10 am the snow is well up the door of my car. Governor has declared a state of emergency, issued a driving ban, all non essentials stay home. I call the attendance report line and leave a message saying I was complying with the travel ban and would not be in. Within 5 min boss calls and says get my ass in 2 hrs early because there are a lot of call outs and we are short handed. If I refuse he will fire me. I told him I would see him in court. Funny thing, I was still there when the company closed the facility and moved operations out of state. He was long gone by then.

I'm not so worried about the grid. We have 2 generators to keep the heat and refrigeration running. My plan for the storm is to hide under my quilt from all the bubble headed boobies on the roads! They started acting the fool two days ago and will only get worse once the storm actually starts.

No snow yet? Good!

I give up! Got all the doc's back on track after the insurance debacle. ( Never did get a reason it was cancelled). Back in December Doc ordered a wound vac, a contraption designed to collect any bleeding/seepage and improve circulation to the area, speeding healing. By the time it finally got delivered we were in the gap that the office canceled appointments because of the insurance shit. So, today he was supposed to have the vac put on, and arrangements for those LOVELY home nurses to come tend to it 3x a week be made. Doc looks at his foot today, pronounced it healing nicely and at least a month ahead of where he thought we would be, send the contraption back. OK, so I call and verify the instructions for return, and am pleasantly surprised to find that because we never even plugged the silly thing in, they are canceling the order and there will be no charge. GREAT! Five min later, I get a call asking to verify insurance info so the vac peeps can bill insurance. "Umm, Ms Jones in returns (fictitious name of course) just told me they were canceling the whole order, return it no charge." Don't these peeps talk to each other??? On a good note, *Groceries including comfort food and snacks. DONE *Generator fueled and run for a bit, ready to plug in if power dumps. DONE *Snow blowers (2) fueled and parked by each door. DONE *Horse's blanket on with a spare in case of wet or to layer if it gets super cold DONE *All obstacles to clearing snow out of the way. DONE So, since we are ready for the storm to do it's damnedest, I expect to get nothing! I still plan to pull the quilt over my head and hide from the bubble headed boobies on the roads. After dropping this contraption @ the UPS store to go back, the next time I venture out will be Monday for my chiropractic apt. Although if we actually get the foot of snow they are threatening, I expect a call to reschedule that!

Ummm...that was not the quote my comment was meant for. Not sure how i did that one! Smart little stinkers was meant to follow
-
Might be little stinkers, but no one said they are dumb!
-
So you have two little trouble makers that squeel on each other?
-
Not so bad, that's 32*f. Mine said 8*f as I left the house. That's -13*c for you metric peeps.

Just remember, a "wrong" 4-6" could be anything from a dusting to a foot!

Batten down the hatches US East Coast. Here comes another massive winter storm! My area is saying a MINIMUM of 4" from Saturday evening thru Monday morning. My plan for last weekend worked well, so I think I am going to stick with it! Shopping today or tomorrow to beat the rush, comfort foods and snacks, then hide from the world for the duration!

You have hit on one of my biggest problems right now. With him home and relatively immobile, one day is blending into the next. I frequently find myself asking "Wtf day is it". If it were not for the day planner with alarms on my phone I would start missing appointments.
-
Somehow I always thought of "Manic Mondays" as crazy days while ironing out the glitches of life that occur on weekends but can't be fixed till offices etc open on Monday mornings. I did not think it meant the world emerging from weekend snow driving like maniacs. Roads are basically clear, just wet after yesterday's storm, but reason has not yet returned. I am not sure which are worse, the ones traveling 15 to 20 mph over posted limits getting pissed at those of us @ or close to the limit, or the ones crawling along a 50mph limit road @ 25!

I wish your friends comfort.

Glad I am wearing my barn boots

Neither of you have been innocent in a very long time. You might convince me of not guilty, but the good ship Innocence sailed long ago.

Was supposed to take a nice young lady to a show tomorrow. Plan was to take trailer to their barn today so I could sleep till 5 and still be @ their barn for a 7:30 load time. They got about 2" at their place and the show location got almost 4", and they canceled today's portion. We delayed taking the trailer north as long as we could hoping for a definitive answer on showing tomorrow. When they had not canceled by noon I started north. Of course that's when the snow got heavier. What should have been an hour and 15 min drive took just over 2 hours. We get there safe, get turned around in a space really too small to work but I make it work, and we start unhooking. The trainer comes running out hollering wait wait wait. Yup. She has now gotten a text less than 2 min ago canceling tomorrow, and rescheduling for next weekend. Sigh. Trailer pulled back to barn. Think I am going to stop for snacks and barricade myself inside to watch the second wave of snow we are supposed to get tonight into tomorrow and turn my phone off so no one can pester me!

You can say THAT again!

While I totally agree that we need to advocate for ourselves, I had to spend a majority of my squeek for correcting the insurance situation. Honestly, I was so preoccupied with that, I did not realize he only left 2 or 3 followup messages for him to call, or that Doc had not called back. My issue is that the staff from the one office apparently canceled the appointments on their own initiative. When he realized hubby had missed 2 apts he had the lady from the second office call and get hubby in right away.
-
Things went well @ the Doc today. Says he is at least a month ahead of what he expected healing to take. When he asked why we skipped a week and almost skipped a 2nd, I told him because his peeps canceled us when the insurance crap started. Seems no one told HIM they did that! Was a tad perturbed. More so when he found out I asked for him to call me and he was never given the message.
-
Woooo hoooo! Got a call from the quacks office asking why he missed his apt on the 7th, when will he be coming in? Ummm, because your people canceled us when the insurance went flooey? Let's get you in tomorrow! OK, as long as you know that I THINK I have insurance fixed but cannot confirm that for a minimum of 48 hours according to the most recent health care CSR. She said to hell with them, come in and we will fix him now, fix money later! Then she called back, said she ran the insurance, and everything seemed good to go! I WON! I WON! I WON!
-
Don't quote me, but after 2 weeks, 4 HR reps from the company he retired from, 14 CSR's from the health care company, 10 phone calls during which I got transferred to the "right" person 10 times, and an unknown amount of time on hold where the same ten bars of music burned into my brain over and over, I THINK we have the insurance shit straightened out! Wish me luck!🤞

I can definitely recommend the Toro self propelled snow blower. I can handle it even with a bad back. Get the widest you can conviently store. The little one looked great, but the larger one we got when "shrimp" had issues and we couldn't get parts promptly is soooo much better. Now we are a two machine family and we frequently work together and dig the neighbors out as well.
