FINALLY got a reply out of the disability insurance peeps. Approved pending his jobs approval. Still no payments but a statement of what he is eligible for. Works out to 85% of his regular wage for approximately 20 weeks. The problem? He has already been out of work 14 weeks. At this rate his benefits will run out before he gets them!
I have a lap afghan (lapghan?) working. Basic granny square center with working around to size. Has gotten to the point where it is big enough that you don't see the growth with each row, and now seems like it takes forever!
Just finished up morning chores @ the barn. We have a heat wave! 35*f !
Sat down in the truck and flipped the radio on. SOB weather geeks say it is going to snow/sleet/ general miscellaneous mixed mush on us this afternoon!
Where is my quilt???
Short answer is 12 in one trip using 4 trailers. Two can hold 2 horses each, one of which has had modifications to allow the safe movement of small ponies and mini horses. The other two can hold four horses each. One of my drivers is currently out of the loop as hubby is still healing after the amputation of 3 toes, and and my daughter's truck is buried in a snow bank right now. The new barn was only 3 miles from the start point so we made three trips of 6, 6, and 5 horses.
A knitt/crochet person will never say they have too much yarn, but quilters are worse by far. My uncle walled off a 15 x15 craft room in the basement for my aunt, 3 walls of which are covered floor to ceiling with kitchen cabinets, all of which are full with her collection of quilting material.
Lol I had a move two summers ago where the lady called as I was almost home from the barn, which meant i had to drive 20 min BACK to the barn to pick up my trailer, then 20 min north again before starting the trip north. That put me on a very busy stretch of interstate @ afternoon rush. When I dropped the two horses off and told her the charge she asked "Does that include the 'owner is a jerk tax?"
Insisted on a $50 dollar tip.
Had a customer call for a short notice move of 17 horses after a blow up with her current landlord. Arrangements made on Wednesday to move today.
Load time today pushed out 3 times, from 8 to 10 to noon, new barn is taking more work than anticipated.
Now her business partner calls wanting me to cut the price by 20%. I quoted the move @ break even because she is a former student of mine, and the stress of a short notice move like this. When I said I could not, he claimed to have someone who would do it for half what I quoted. I said great, call them.
OK then.
It's colder than usual around here. Our high was 18*f. The dog does NOT like cold. We let her out to our fenced back yard and she does her business in record time. Hubby opened the door to let her back in, and here comes the dog @ mach Jesus, followed closely by a tiny sparrow, whom it took 3 of us a good 10 min to chase back outside! She seemed to want to stay in the warm. No panicky flapping, no fluttering against the windows, just stayed out of reach, landing on curtain rods and the like.
