  1. My dog loved the taste! Bitter Grape too. I ended up using cayenne pepper sauce.
  2. Then there is the totally different subject of people who get lost driving. I don't know why. One of the equine clinics I transport to is on Street Road and a regular customer has an address of 23 Horicon Rd, nearest cross street Horicon Lane. I see absolutely no reason to become confused!
  3. May you all have peace, love and joy!
  4. How come when everyone else gets time off for the holidays my business picks up? I am booked for every day the next 2 weeks except Christmas and New Years days and the only reason I get those off is i told peeps I could not move their horses those days. As is, the only reason I am not working today is the lady that hired me to move contents of a garage to a storage unit decided to reschedule because 13*f (-10*c) was just too cold to work in an unheated garage. Yes, she hired me paying horse rates because she decided having the ramp is a whole lot easier than a steep narrow ramp into a u-haul. I charged 1 horse and mileage. I think it actually came out cheaper than the u-haul because she would have to have picked it up on Saturday, dropped it Monday and paid for 2 days instead of the 4 or 5 hours it will take with my rig. I am also understanding of working around her son and friends schedule. They are the muscle...I just drive!
  5. Nothing is dog proof if the canine is mischievous. Goes for horses too! As for the story being complete, while that may be, hopefully the writers career is not! Well done sir!
  6. Give that squirrel an Oscar!
  7. I work outside all year long. If I had my druthers, spring and fall would be preferable. Winter over summer because, as @kbois says, you can always put another layer on. That being said, I remember as a teen daytime Temps this time of year being 30's f (single digits c ) . This morning the weather geeks was talking about how Temps were 10* below avg. 2 min later he was talking about global warning. Ok, so if it's colder than avg isn't that a good thing? Wouldn't that, if maintained long term, lower the average to what we had 50 yrs ago, thereby relieving global warming? Just saying, they don't get to complain about global warming, then complain its too cold!
  8. Lmfao! Use it in good health! It's one of my faves
  9. I agree with what was said above. Document everything you can from the recent past, continue to document going forward, and bring your boss up to speed. Remember, having all your ducks in a row makes em easier to shoot!
  10. May you all be together with family and loved on this Thanksgiving morning. 🦃
  11. @Mikiesboy I am not going to repeat what everyone else has said. I KNOW you will do what needs doing. What I will say is let your men be strong for you, and lean on us when you need that little bit more support. We all love you.
  12. We will either have a dud winter ( unusually warm/dry) or be up to our navels with snow. I am betting nothing in between.
  13. Good grief! 242 brush fires in the state in the last 2 weeks ! Helped evac one farm in the path of the newest one yesterday, and am now on standby for 2 other farms, one likely to need it if the wind picks up and one that should be fine but wanted an evac plan in place just in case.
  14. Now I got that song stuck in my head! "Momma said there'll be days like this, days like this momma said momma said momma said..."
  15. The lack of water is just as destructive. The reservoir by the barn is so low you can see the stumps of trees removed during the construction 20 yrs ago, some 100 ft off the usual shoreline. We are under red flag restrictions meaning no outdoor fires of any sort, including bbq's. Fire hazard is not what you northerners dealt with not too long ago, but our forest fire service has been hopping this fall.
  16. Was 50/50 in our house. 2 kids, a boy and a girl.
  17. That's cause all the little feathered freaks have come down to Jersey for the winter! They are everywhere, and get nasty if you get too close. Spent 5 minutes when 20 of them (I counted) slowly crossed the road single file.
  18. Umm...BECAUSE they are intelligent?
  19. I REALLY don't understand people at all! At a riding clinic today. Expensive buy in for my clients, but we figured the added knowledge the trainer and I walked away with in addition to the riders would be worth it. The lady "teaching" has not actually taught the riders anything, just pointed at an obstacle and said do it, try again etc. So far no advice on HOW to do it. If I was paying these prices, I would be livid. Gig was advertised as "lunch included". Dude pulls up and delivers 3 plain pizzas. One slice each for the 12 riders, everyone else can buy a slice. Ok, 3 pies x 8 slices per pie, 24 slices total. So 12 for the riders, 2 for the 2 "teachers", leaving 10 slices for the 5 trainers, several trailer drivers, and assorted siblings to buy. Thankfully I pack our lunches. Today we have cold fried chicken, grapes, garlic basil cheddar cheese and crackers. YES, I believe in comfort when traveling. You should see me camping! Then we have one lady walking around in shorts, a short sleeve.shirt, hat scarf and a down vest! It's 72*. Umm...you might be warmer if you cover your arms and legs! WTF is she going to do when it gets cold???

  21. Just heard from my brother in ft Meyers. Said lots of wind and rain but no damage. He will get back to me after work ( works for the water company) when he has a better grip on the area in general. He did say he still prefers playing tag in hurricane season to winters up here.
  22. Ours do things like freeze the meat I buy for a specific dish I am fixing the next day or turning off the dishwasher half way thru the cycle so they can shower I guess. Edit to add they never restart the machine! Half washed dishes when I go back !
  23. Tad crazy here. Nothing new about that. Have had horse moves every day for the last two weeks. This is barn hopping season! Glad.to hear everyone is ok. How about you @kbois? News says they are trying to drown you again.
  24. When we bought our house hubby thought I was being overly cautious in insisting on high ground. During Sandy in 2012, high water wiped out about half my neighborhood, including a house he liked better than this one but I flat out refused cause it was only 5 ft above high water mark. Sandy washed that one away. Water came up to our property line l, but house was a good 30 ft higher. Didn't even get any water in the basement. When you go inland, insist on a hill! Inland can flood too. Look at Greenville TN.
  25. But you are safe! The rest can be dealt with. PIA, yes, but sure beats the alternative!
