  1. I didn’t see anything like what you did. I thought the show represented something close to the reality of what sports would portray in their circumstances — from my perspective. One minute you’re on top of the world and the next minute … ? Of course it’s jarring, I think it was meant to be seen that way, and from a man’s perspective it works. Foundation? Men don’t need an underlying foundation to begin anything, not truly. We make our own version up as we go along. We rationalize things to fit our narrative — our need. Sometimes it works out and sometimes it falls apart. I’ve watched exactly one Bruins game in the arena in the twenty-something years I lived in Boston and the puck was there one moment and then somehow miraculously somewhere else before I saw it even move — so fast I couldn’t follow it in real time. The game is of course not entirely the real point of this show. It’s the skin (skin in the game, too, necessarily, I suppose). I’m perfectly alright with that and I’m fine with the men’s behavior as it’s being represented. Not everything needs to be fleshed out (no pun intended) to perfection. Too much of this and too much of that just gets in the way of entertainment in my opinion. For me this show has been a success.
  2. There is that thing called suspension of disbelief. But I hear you. You have a line and one which you're not willing to cross.
  3. I believe you'll be waiting a long long time for mainstream movies or television make anything other than comedy.
  4. 🤮 Dude! WTF?!
  5. If one were to awaken with a hard-on that was vastly larger than normal for some reason, would that be considered an aberration? Asking for a friend. 😇
  6. I'm listening to Yellow '40 Years' on Tidal Audio @48 khz / 24 bit via Tidal Audio. At the 51 percent volume level on my Marantz receiver (120 watts into 8 ohm, class A/B) it comes across very well on my speakers. A big hit was this compilation's version of 'Oh Yeah,' a song many of us already know (but you may never heard this song like this, better in every way in my opinion) from a movie enjoyed by many. And yet this comes across as wonderfully musical and beyond any musicality you may have heard in the movie - details. I'm very much enjoying the entire musical release of '40 Years.' I think you will, too. Give it a listen!
  7. Nah, we got the gist of it. We’re okay!

    Happy Thanksgiving!

Happy Thanksgiving, everyone since most can even drum a little something to be thankful for. Me, I’m thankful that my cold which lasted for a month is now gone. Otherwise, I’ve got some eggplant in the fridge and you if you guess I’m making eggplant Parmesan you would be correct. I may be eating Italian cuisine but at least it’s not spaghetti. I’m having a sliced deli turkey sandwich for lunch so I’ve at least covered the bird.
  9. Thanksgiving usually means pasta for one, maybe a turkey sandwich for lunch. Christmas Day I might try for a complete meal of some sort, maybe with some ham but I think had pasta last year. Easter is an easy choice: lamb chops. I can usually find a package with 3 or 4 small chops and I’ll make mashed potatoes along with some of those skinny green beans for side-dishes.
  10. From time to time I find something very interesting to listen to. Robert Plant said in a video I recently watched that the album Kronos Quartet Pieces of Africa was essential listening for him at an early time during Led Zeppelin's rise. Here is Escalay (Whaterwheel) for your enjoyment: I hope you enjoy this as much as I do. I encourage a full listen of the album.
  11. I've been listening to Fink this year (a new artist discovery for me). Wheels Turn Beneath My Feet II which is presented live and is a hit with my music system. Here is a version of Resurgam, best listened to on good speakers with good bass underpinning, or a good pair of headphones.
  12. Yes, yes there was Bill. You just didn't notice the feels.
  13. Do you remember Safety Dance by Men Without Hats? Here is a new song from the band's newest release called A Cause De Toi. Not bad for a late Wednesday afternoon.
  14. Oh my, somebody is making effective use of A.I. in this video. The music is good too. But it might be better with a less-than viral presentation. Having been inflicted with my first cold since the covid pandemic despite my continual wearing of a mask in social areas, I'm absolutely against damn viral bugs of any sort.
  15. Oh, I've been a want-a-be rich person at one time or another. One time I got food poisoning of the most-highest degree (Both sitting and bending over, one need fighting with the other at times no less throughout the night.) while visiting friends in London on an extended layover and the evening before a flight to Singapore the next day, late afternoon. Crossed eyed and depleted of electrolytes (I'm sure.), I slowly made my way to the Quantis lounge, where I promptly drank several glasses of orange juice [helpful, unknowingly]. There, through the grace of whatever God you want to pray to, I was able to request one of those airport jockeys with their electric carts to whisk me away to the correct gate for departure (After much assurance on my part that I was capable to make the flight. [Hint, I really wasn't. I needed fluids and antibiotics; that's clear to me now].) when the time came. I was in Business Class, thanks to my former partner for the luxury of it. Afterwards, when everyone had settled through the proscribed prerequisites, I put on my airline-issued jammies and footies in the not-so-cramped restroom for the class I had the privilege to travel in and extended my 'bed' and promptly went to sleep. I suppose I could reduce my post in one summation: Lounges, yea! Just this one time! (Snort)
  16. Please see word of the day: Ethics
  17. So many creatures and so little time. If you don't hear from me sooner, then you'll hear from me later (better later than not at all, I hope).
  18. I’m happy to see that you’re digressing, and the dart wasn’t so keen. 😉

    Lovesquatch

I cannot remember the last time I laughed so hard when reading a story. I began by wiping tears away, then blowing my nose, and I ended up laughing and coughing so hard at one point I had to use my rescue inhaler. "This just in ... A man is found slumped in his chair, his face stuck in a rictus of laughter and with a finger pointing at his computer screen. More news at eleven." The culinary assassination list here is long and perhaps deservedly so in some respects. I recall watching the 2022 Netflix docuseries Down to Earth with Zac Efron: Down Under and being duly impressed by the efforts of those providers and provisioners attempting to get back to nature and sustainability with food sources. Very impressive if not always attainable. In any event ... Bravo. This was a very enjoyable read.

    Chapter 1

(I somehow feel both immortalized and dismissed at the same time. And damn it, Aaron got that line! It belonged to me; it was right on the tip of my tongue. ) This unexpected monster mash(up) of the authors was a surprise. It's good to have a story that fits the anthology: Monsters? Yes. Feelings? Yes. Comedic relief? Yes. The trifecta for late night viewing, er reading.
  21. I like this partly because I'm a sucker for silly humor and the stories underlying skein. I might have liked it better in a different venue. As it is I see merely the thinnest of connections to the anthology theme, and for that please consider the shoe as having been chucked.
  22. I wanted to like this more than I did. This anthology called for some pizzazz, I think, and I was expecting to read something more akin to that than the opposite.
  23. If we combine Southern Africa with North America and South America and Russia with a side order of Australian seduction, what do we get? Meanwhile, in Massachusetts we are just sitting on one another’s faces.
  24. "antilong" is a Filipino word basically meaning -- comprehension • understanding • the manner or stage of understanding • • grasp • perception • cognition. It is sometimes confused with "antilog" -- which means antilogarithm. Yeah, my nephew is seeking out Philippine women for their perception; cognition; understanding; and meaning for sure. That’s not really his motivation, I can promise you!
