Sometimes I just want to watch something stupid, comedic, or fun because there’s enough drama nowadays, but it also needs to be smartly crafted as well — or it gets boring fast.
-
I feel like I’m getting ‘picky to a fault’ at times. Unfortunately, this leads to a lot of scrolling for something to watch. In any event I was giving “The Summer I Turned Pretty’ the side-eye even before watching it, and now it feels like I’ve been vindicated.

It was an experiment, Bill. I wanted to know, and knowledge is more important than ‘what difference does it make’. Besides, there’s a little thing called soap and water that does wonders for the cleaning of hands after handling one’s undies.

This has been going on for years and I finally decided that I wanted to learn, why? I prefer boxer-briefs to tighty-pick-your-colors, except for maybe jeans once upon a time (I gave up tight jeans years ago when that indentation around my waist began lasting for a couple of hours after I took my jeans off. Nobody wants to see that. 🫣). But my boxer-briefs constantly and consistently (around 80% of the time) came out of the dryer inside out. So, I experimented by turning all of my briefs inside out before putting them in the wash. After having dried the briefs, only around 20% had turned right side out. 😮 So the moral of my story is:

I am seriously giving thought to this anthology. But I can’t really say much without giving away my idea, but I do have three nearly complete storylines bouncing around in my head. Some might say that’s grrreeeatt 😉, pick one, but there’s still the writing, self editing and finding someone to beta-read and then finally finding and working with an editor — that’s a lot of … well, a lot.

Leaving Whole Foods and waiting for the walk sign. Women in Porsche SUV waiting to make her turn when the light turns green. Both lights change at the same time. Me, one foot raised. Porsche woman steps on the gas; must beat pedestrian. I give her the dirtiest look! Porsche woman makes the turn and promptly gets stuck in stopped traffic two car-lengths away. I walk safely across the road. People!

Wow, those are some cool features!

Yep! Sometimes it's just that. Maybe think of your story as a free therapy session. Each time you sit down to write you get to dump a little of those feels onto the page and out of your psyche. And if you must cry along the way then do so, and if you laugh do that, and if it means you bang a fist on the tabletop (not too hard) every now and again then do that, too. In the end, and if you never publish the story some good may still come from writing it (which, I think, is time and effort well spent). I once wrote a short prompt story that had nothing and everything to do with a breakup after a long, long relationship (it was definitely a 'telling' type of story) and although there was no thought of saving the relationship I felt better because there was a release of some pent-up emotions I was holding back. The story is posted but I'm not here to promote me so I'm not linking to it. Cheers!

If you watched and liked the movie Mascarpone (2021) then you might be interested to learn there is a sequel out called Mascarpone: The Rainbow Cake (2025).

Yeah, absolutely. That's part of the reason I just started to listen to all the songs on a specific release rather than trying to string along disparately recorded music from different artists. (I guess that's a playlist, right? ) Edit to add: I'm listening to Rainbow Kitten Surprise's How to: Friend, Love, Freefall. I heard the song Fever Pitch and sought out the album it's listed on, and I found the whole of the work enjoyable.

Not bad for a first song on a Sunday evening.

Even if you’re outside for just a little while in 91 degree heat along with 50 percent humidity it takes a toll. 🥵

I Don't Like the Anthology Theme. What do I do?

Dang-it and Dang-it some more! I'm trying to listen to Peter Gabriel's US (remastered) and something Mr. Gabriel sang had me drifting (in my mind, no less) pushing me toward writing a goldarn (@Headstall would be proud) something or other for the 'Creature Feature' anthology. I'm doomed! -
I'm just going to drop this here... Thanks to @Talo Segura for the secret (to me) know-how to post music videos. Yee-haw! <--- Wild West speak for: Yes! Anyway, some of the lyrics seem to me appropriate ...

Kind of like that not-cat (Flerkun) in Marvel’s Captain Marvel movie. Some things are just not what they appear to be! -

I happen to like you, so I won’t twist your arm about it. Umm, as long as you don’t twist mine. 😉 -

Oh, Val! Val, Val, Val … it’s not the theme, it’s the writing part! 🙄- 24 comments

Oh, Canada! I feel safe in saying so since I lived in Toronto for three years … back in the olden days, before the turn of the century.

I've been reading reviews of Lorde's newest release: "Lorde is Back." Say, what? I would add caveats: This new work tries to harken back to their initial explosion onto the musical scene; It's recorded 'hotter' (part of the so called 'loudness wars') than Pure Heroine is (unfortunately); also, although I have listened to Virgin a few times, I don't find the lyrics or musicality (rhythm and timing) to be memorable.

This does appear to be a worldwide contagion. But there may be hope. "Shut up, you." the quiet ones said. And all the while brandishing their sticks. (Whack! Thwack!) "There, that ought to shut them up." (The silence was deafening.) The moral of the story is that the meek shall inherit ... something, something or other. (But, perhaps, after it's too late.) Well, yes. That and a little cash wouldn't hurt.

There are always rules. 😉 It’s just that sometimes we don’t agree with them, and that causes strife — and disgruntled (former) colleague complaints by those who don’t identify themselves.
-
They said that they were former writers and members but they didn’t include their nom de plume’s. @Cia had replied to at least one of the complaints.
-
Inexplicably, I was shuffled to a website where disgruntled former colleagues offered critiques of GA (I have no idea why), but I found every one of those critiques to be poorly illustrated, merely a whine; whine; whine. I kind-of get that people can be disgruntled with rules, but once you understand them — the reasons for their existence — to then rail against the rules seems to me a contradiction of principle. To leave after knowing the facts and then complain on another venue, all without stating who you are (or were), seems to me such petty thing to do.

@Paladin Oh, those etymologists would have us empare the word impair and replace it, they being all conjunctive and such. Well, the damage is done!
-
I've been doing some "impaired" writing lately. (Sigh ...) Sadly, that probably means some heavy editing is in my future! * *This just in ... Ron meant to write impaired-writing and not ""impaired"" writing". One of those things is not like the other.
