At the moment I'm working on a scene in A Cursed Life that isn't exactly pg13. At this point into the story I'm starting to bring a bit of the gay element into the story which has been absent up until now. And that fact that I'm writing a gay rape scene (important to the plot) isn't something I want to share with my family and friends who have been reading my story up til now. So at the moment I'm faced with writing two versions of the same story.

I agree, sci-fi offers a wider range for the author to explore. I've thought of trying to write a mystery story. Though I'd probably end up writing a sci-fi mystery which might not work out to well.

There are a lot of different stories out there and the same is true just as true among our own authors. Romance/love, Sci-fi, Drama, erotica, highschool, adults. And there are as many different combinations as there are authors to write about them. My question is what's your favorite? I'm sure we could all take a look at a number of each authors stories and get a feel for what they like to write about. Though this might be a little simpler than reading a half dozen stories. Me, Sci-Fi, I like my stories, like I like my books and movies. I've been planning to write a bit of a Romance/Drama and every time I even think of it I just know it will be a challenge for me. Romance and drama has it's place of course but as far as I'm concerned that's nestled between the jowls of a nice Science fictions. haha. j/k Not sure I have the write "stuff" for a romance story. So...what's your type?

It's difficult to get readers sometimes. Not that I'd know much about it really as I'm pretty new to all this myself. You can put hours of work into a story, and feel really good about releasing that story to the world but it's never enough unless you have readers to give you their opinions.

I've only got one story that I've went public with at the moment and I've posted it to Nifty and got a large amount of feedback, 30+ emails and several people have joined my yahoo group. For authors without your own forum it's a great way to make sure that people interested in the story know about updates and news and thus can give you more feedback.

The story I'm working on right now, A Cursed Life. I thought it up initially years ago and by the time I'd gathered some starting points in my head, the whole thing seemed so....big. And I knew I wanted to get this story out but it really did feel like it was beyond me to do so. And that maybe it would never be complete, or as it should be.

I agree every writers writes with his own unique perspective in mind maybe subconsciously maybe on purpose. I had a friend read my story a few weeks back and he said that I write they way I talk about life. I'll be honest, I have a pretty bleak outlook when it comes to most things and you can usually see that in my writing, unless I purposely go in the other direction.

yeah I agree sex scences should be few and far between in a good story. The sex certainly shouldn't drive the story and it should be well written. I'm actually about to tackle the task of writing my first sexual scene kind of...haha

arg, that would be perfect for Angel Among Them, but I'm afraid the only way I could make use of it would be if I made a webpage to feature my stories and honestly I've only got the two so... If I end up using it I will certainly make sure to notify you and credit you as the artist in whatever manner you'd like.
