loved the chapter; with parents like that growing up it would be a miracle if the boy didn't have some behavioral issues -
Also glad Cas is ok. Loved Phen in this one - would be nice to see Phen back on his home planet and how his family interacts w. him and his large family.

Love this. Feel bad for Jasper - he's going to need a lot of counseling; and a lot of love from his Bei - both emotionally and physically (which I don't think will be a problem).

Another good piece. For too many of us still, queer is trying to find a way to survive in neighborhood/city/state/country that wants us dead. Growing up instinctively twisting language (as subtly as possible) into gender-neutral phrases.

I have a very good friend who is young, black, and "articulate" -- and who was told (by his mother, of all people) that he "wasn't black enough" because of the way he spoke. We had a long conversation one day about his often feeling like he didn't have a group he belonged to. Most of his friends were white, but he often still felt like "the black guy" and he didn't really feel at home in the black community either, in part because of statements like the one his mother made and in part because of his sexuality. What Du Bois referred to as "double consciousness." -

Loving the story so far. I've known people like the main character - having been told they're worthless so many times they start to believe it. I hope he finds happyness (at least for awhile) w. Derrick. -

Yea for Nix! (and the rest of the gang) And poor Sifta. Self-loathing from being constantly told you are less - that can be so destructive, and something a lot of us on here probably have some experience with. Either with ourselves or with our friends.
