Back to NYC, although the city doesn't play as big a role in this one.

No horses were hurt in the writing of this story. (The Godfather's fans will know what I'm talking about.) Although I modify their looks for my purposes, this was the original inspiration for Dante:

Thank you, my friend. Similar time next Saturday. First thing I'll do once I have a cup of coffee in hand. I've now posted new stories on 01/01/20 and 02/01/20/ Pressure's on to do the same in March!

You're welcome, and thank you! Now that we've met the main character, the adventure starts next week.

Now the question's who's paying for lunch.

I try not to use the mirror trope to describe characters, but in this case I kinda liked how it looked. Thanks, man.

Thanks for being the first one to comment on the new story! I wanted to show a more common attitude towards sexual orientation amongst younger generations, their banter's mild compared to how my brothers and I interact. And that's even though two of us are boomers. As for the branches: prequels, sequels, spin-offs and spin-ins, oh my!

Fingertips pruned and nearing numbness, I clung to the board’s edge hard enough I was certain there would be indentation marks for a while. Winds from the approaching tropical storm whipped the Atlantic Ocean into a swirling froth, and the accompanying spray forced me to keep my eyes slitted. The crazy grin my cousin flashed when I looked at him egged me on. I hoisted myself into a better position and paddled towards the magic spot. That perfect place for catching and riding a wave. We had been

    PRIME

Antonio Martellini's a rising star in the family, having turned a dingy Brooklyn bowling alley into a hipster hot spot. When his grandfather asks him to lunch, Tony gets an offer he can't refuse. Can he pull the project off? Is he ready for prime time?
  13. I hereby pledge to restrict politics to my stories. There's this one minor character of mine who'll be elected president in the future, but I'm staying away from writing any stories starring him until after November. In the meantime, I promise a few zingers aimed at politicians and discussions of controversial subjects like the Second Amendment in other stories.
  14. I better start writing. THis is the first time I have nothing on the update list this year.
  15. @Myr Never took you for the pinky ring type...

  17. I've read this story a couple of times, and I think it's time for another one. Highly recommended.

    Epilogue

I read an article about Vietnamese-Australian kids which tugged at my heart strings. After a little research, I wrote Children of the Dust. Kids with a black GI as a father had even more difficulty than those with a white father.
  19. That picture inspired the story! My original cover/banner had the full one but it didn't meet GA standards (the bulging Speedo was visible) so I had to trim it. Originally it was set in New York, but I wanted to revisit the characters and this story didn't fit with what I saw happening. I changed character names and location references but otherwise it all stayed the same

    The Winner

LMAO No late nights for me. The opposite since I do most writing early in the morning while nursing my coffee. As for plotting, a lot's done while I'm riding around. I just got back from visiting my dad in Miami, and the first thing I did when I got home was jot down a few lines summarizing a few things I thought of while on the Turnpike.
  21. Thanks again! I like the fact you've been reading some of my older work. My writing has improved since some of these stories were posted, but most of them are still good enough I don't feel the need to edit them. Hopefully, anyone reading both old and new work can tell I've grown as an author.

    Vegas

The District I'm somewhat familiar with. I went to school in Washington and have visited a few times in recent years. My last two visits were spent scouting locations for the CJ series. Not that it was too much of a chore, walking around the city and eating in some of the restaurants I use was far from a hardship.
  23. Thank you! I try to make my characters and plot twists as believable as possible. Probability of events actually taking place varies. LOL Yes, I've been to Minnesota a couple of times. A long time ago I spent a week in St Paul and one in Duluth for business. More recently, I rode my Harley through the state. I had been to the Sturgis Motorcycle Rally in South Dakota and cut through North Dakota and Minnesota on my way to Milwaukee. Loved the forested sections I traveled. Actual details about the lake and surroundings was courtesy of Google and a lot of reading.

I do have an idea for another stand alone short story starring these two, but it's going to take a while. Too many others on my plate already. However, I do promise they'll make an appearance in something or other before the end of the year. Thanks for the praise
