It's unfortunate it took his parents' dying for Ritchie to be reunited with his brother but I think it's going to be good for both of them. Kids are resilient and Ritchie will thrive in the more relaxed atmosphere of the Georgetown townhouse.

CJ's older and hopefully wiser but the dads are going to always worry about him. After all, it's what parents do. CJ being a quasi public figure I'm certain makes it harder on them. Ethan's most definitely a member of CJ's group of close friends now.

Better CJ than a stranger! And at least he wsn't alone. Having the dads with him I'm sure made it easier for him.

Some people are born leaders and CJ's one of those. He leads with words and by example but has been a tad reckless in the past. Hopefully he's learning how to control his anger and the ensuing reactions.

It definitely has. CJ will end up surrounding himself with friends who'll be around for a long time to come.

LMAO @Mann Ramblings has been known to share and spread his talent around. And I've heard a bottle of brandy can be persuasive with him. Doesn't even have to be an expensive one!

I think the boys enjoyed the farm and will have an even better time when CJ does get his own motorcycle and the two of them can go riding together! I wouldn't have minded having Harley's grandparents as my own!

Brett survive but the crash and his injury will lead to big changes in his life.

Brett's not the only member of the military in the story. Tom served in the army and in the future there'll be others.

@Butcher56 Brett tends to blow up quick but he's already had CJ stand up to him and it won't be the last time it happens. Papa will learn. -
@Butcher56 Some of CJ's travels are based on my own while others are the result of research. This won't be the last time we visit Australia, I have too many good memories to share in just a couple of chapters!

@Butcher56 The existance of the family foundation is proof of Brett's family altruism. CJ's concern for others will be nurtured by both fathers and he'll soon get a say in how his dads' charitable contributions are made.

The loose ends from Summer's final chapter will be tied up in the next couple of chapters. But the events will have repercussions for a while. If you think of the first four books in the series as a single, really long one, you'll get the entire story of CJ's first year in Washington. I think you'll like what's ahead.

By now you've probably figured out the cast grows a bit in the future. Hopefully you can keep track of who's who. Humor is important in my life and I've tried to infuse some into the story. And the relationship between the friends is also a loose echo from my own life. I've used my relationship with my brothers and with friends as a basis for the conversations the guys have. Washington is a great city to visit. History at every turn. My first visit was with a bunch of classmates as a senior in high school and I have yet to tire of the city. Thanks for reading and taking the time to comment!

@Defiance19 Thanks, Def. We've seen Brett in protective mode before and I don't see that changing. He's still the wild, fun-loving, California surfer dude but he's taken his role as a father to heart. My dislike of the Catholic Church may be showing LOL I've served on board of directors with both Episcopal and Catholic priests and found the Catholic ones to be uptight even when preaching acceptance. Silas will be around for a while. I already wrote the scene where he and CJ meet in person! You'll have to wait for it, though. It's in the next book!

Glad you're here and continue to enjoy CJ's story. Nadine's meeting CJ and Owen for the first time. Thiago has told her about his friends but I think he didn't divulge the details of how his friend came to live in Washington. If she sticks aroun, she'll learn it eventually even though CJ hasn't trashed his mother and stepfather as much after their death.

Ritchie has four years of CJ in college and around his house. When the kid goes away to college himself he'll have sooo much experience he'll run circles around the other freshmen. Not sure CJ will do a full disclosure on those possible threats. But the dads aren't blind to what can happen and I think Brett will have something to say.
