    Weekly Wrap Up
Hello Fellow GAers, or can it be GAyers?
It is funny how some cities' residents names are made. For example I live in Calgary, we are Calgarians. When I lived in Lethbridge for 10 years, I said we were Lethbians . Needless to say my fellow Lethbians didn't find it as humourous. Jeez, its a joke  The province next to me, Saskatchewan, their peoples call themselves Saskatchewanites. And then the city of Moose Jaw in that province call themselves Moose Javians. Hi, my name is Steve. First and foremost I'm a Canadian, then a Saskatchewanite as well as a Moose Javian
Care to share what your community name is, or any that you have heard that are funny or a tongue twister?
Now if we look at the GA weekly blog this week, it is small. It is sooooooo small, I think I need to tell some jokes to fill some of the space
What do you call a kid with no arms and no legs in the ocean?
I know you were thinking Bob, but you are wrong if you did so
Okay, I have a trunk full of those but will spare you the rest
The reason not much to report is that I messed up I should have done Prompt Friday this week, and we do have a few great suggestions left for the member suggested ones, but could always use more.
On Monday Cia was here with the CSR Discussion Day:
Then, as always, the popular Ask An Author 2.0 was hear again brought to by Carlos
And here would be the weekly prompts if I did them
But Myr was on the ball all week, as usual, with the word of the day. You could say he dose them with alarcrity
And GA Students, shall we check on your grades last week? I'm going to have to decide if we shall start marking on curve or not .

    Weekly Wrap Up
    Hiya
What am I so happy about? I'm not really sure . Could it be because Sunday is/was international Bacon Day? I think that might be it  Sadly by they time most of you read this the day will be past, but as I like to say, never to late to catch up

I apologize to all the people who don't eat bacon  I will just enjoy your share for you!
Now that most of you are smelling, tasting, craving bacon, I shall leave this behind and move onto the Weekly Wrap Up!
On Monday, Timothy M dropped by with a great review from the Site Review Team. Please, if you have a review that you would like to do, reach out to @Timothy M.
Wednesday, Renee was back with the big reveal for the Author Guess Who. Just to prove how wrong I was again 😢
Then on Thursday, Renee visited the 2020 Fall Anthology which you have 2 1/2 months to get done, and submitted.
Now before you fillip a spitball my way  , shall we look at the Words of the Day provided by everyone's favourite GA Founder , Myr.
The last thing I will bring your attention to is the results of last weeks story goals.

Now if I had left 11 more chapter comments (Bad Steve, Bad) we would have had a perfect score!!! But that is close enough for everyone to be really, really, really proud of all your efforts!

It is Monday in most of the world, and what better way to start off the week of blogs than with another great one from the Review Team, this one from Timothy M.

    The Paladin
    David McLeod
    Reviewer: Timothy M.
    Status: Complete
    Word Count: 52,005
Some authors on GA create their own settings, either by mixing magic into our universe or by creating separate worlds. David McLeod does both, although most of his fantasy genre stories takes place in another universe which occasionally interacts with ours. The Paladin is one such story, which starts out in our world until the main characters are flung into another place with different rules of everyday life. I like the concept of a continuous struggle between good and evil, and how love / sex between males can be a source of magic. I often return to this group of favorite stories, many of which are intertwined with each other, and The Paladin together with Book of Heroes is a good place to start.
There are humans, elves and dwarves. There are friendship and hardship, long travels and intimate interludes (but most of the sex takes place ‘off screen’), heroism and kindness in small acts. Some aspects of the stories are fairly unusual and may take a little while to get used to, e.g. the longevity of people, the long youth phase of boys, and reincarnation. But to me the real draw of McLeod’s world is the importance of honesty, trust, knowledge, and the willingness to respect and help others. There is a strict code of honor and only evil people destroy nature or seek to accumulate possessions. I guess it can be called escapism and feel-good fantasy, but sometimes we need that, right?

    Weekly Wrap Up
Good Morning, Afternoon, Evening or Night to you.
First and foremost, thank you to Renee for jumping in to do the wrap up last week. At around 3 pm my time, i got a call and had to head out of town. I left a message for Renee and she came to my rescue. Not sure if I could even try to do a wrap up on my iPhone or iPad
So lets have a check in from everyone reading this blog. What time is it locally for you when you are looking at this? I know people are reading around the world and it would be neat to find out. But if you don't want to disclose the actual time, go with my intro; morning, afternoon, evening or night.
Now what happened this week at the GA Blog?
Monday, Cia brought us the August Classic Author Feature. It is nice to look back at the stories that early on helped build the site, like every new chapter/story/poem does today!

Following up on the Wednesday was the August Classic Author Excerpt.

    Weekly Wrap Up
    Oops
I actually forgot that I'm back from holidays, well camping, and I told the gracious Renee I would do the wrap up. Well last night, a barley pop or two, I was watching TV and then crawled into bed. I totally forgot that last night was Saturday night
I referred to Renee as gracious, as she was kind enough to do the wrap up for me the past couple of weeks. So let's all give a shout out to her for stepping in!!
As mentioned, I was camping the past week and a bit. Had a great time in the Rockies with my 3 nephews ages 13, 11 and 8. They definitely kept me busy and on my toes all the time. I really don't understand how you parents do it all the time. Hats off to you too!
Well what happened around here last week you ask?
Monday, Cia dropped into bring us the August CSR Feature:
Then on the first Wednesday of August, Carlos came in on his motorbike, fast and furious, to bring us an all new Ask An Author 2.0 in a new format too.
Finishing up on Thursday, Renee gave us the links to go vote for next years Anthologies!! Just make sure to pop into the store for your free membership to the Writer's Circle to vote. This is for EVERYONE to join and vote. As long as you are a member, you can vote! You have until August 17th to participate!!
Now I wasn't around for most of the week, but Astraphobia is something that I do have  Check out a certain story to find out why

Now that the dog days of summer are coming to a close and even with the pandemic still around the world, a lot of areas are preparing for back to skool.  So let's see how our marks were for last week on the site  Instead, let's see how you all achieved a A- for the past 3 weeks  Good going everyone!!!

    Weekly Wrap Up
So, is it hot where you live? I've heard from my Eastern American and Canadian friends that the temperatures and humidity has been nearly unbearable. Then heard on the news that Death Valley, California hit 53.3°C/128°F  I guess I'm enjoying days around 25°C/77°F, but most evenings we have thunder storms rolling in. My city did have the 4th largest natural disaster in Canadian history in cost of damages due to hail a couple of weeks ago. I'm curious though, how is your summer going? Are you hiding out in your air conditioned home, naked as the day you were born?  Or are you at a beach socially distanced and taking in the sun and the water. Hopefully not naked as the day your were born
Now I don't want to forget our Southern Hemisphere friends. Let's hear from you if your are freezing your walnuts off  .
Well I could prattle on forever, but lets get to the wrap up this past week before you all turn from ruly to unruly in an instant.
Monday,  we kicked off the week right with a great review by the GA Review Team. This one from spikey582.
Wednesday Renee was back to kick off the 2020 Theme Selections for the Anthologies.
Friday was a first every Guest Prompts. We had a couple of great ones from two different members. See if one of them make you want to take one on!
Now, did you check out all the Words of the Day? If not, check em out.
Should we check in on where we were on our goals? It is so nice out, I'm curious how we did? Not bad, not bad.

    Prompts
    It's Friday, Friday
    Gonna get down on Friday

Oh, sorry about that  We are here today for the inaugural posting of our Weekly Prompts, but with a twist! For the next while it will be you the readers, authors and poets out there to make the prompt selections.

Prompt 1 - First Line    Brought to you by @Carlos Hazday
    "Ouch! That hurt, dingbat."

Prompt 2 - Technical    Brought to you by @Valkyrie
Write a short story (at least 500 words) in first person without using the pronoun “I”.

These are both very interesting. What do they motivate you to write about? If the motivation moves you, make sure you link your prompts in the Prompt Forum.
As Wayne always says, 'Until next time remember to read, write, comment, and like. Stay safe and well.'
Looking waaaaay  back we never had anyone post in Prompts 846 and 847, so if you want to be shouted at ( or a shout out ) make sure you git in this week!
Lastly, if you want to get in on the fun, make sure you send a PM to @Renee Stevens or @wildone to share with us your prompt ideas!

    Weekly Wrap Up
    Well I never  😮
Usually I try to work a word of the day into the Weekly Wrap Up of late. Generally I try to look in everyday to check out the word of the day and see how I can use it in the wrap up. This week has been a hectic week and I have not been diligent in reading them everyday. So we find ourselves on a Saturday night and I check to see what word I can use, and I find this entry!
I think this is the second time I have been used in an example of usage of the word, but wondering if there is more  that I may have missed. I think it is a time for Myr and me to parlay and find a cessfire before I am forced to take things further in my own hands .
So on to the rest of the week, Monday, Cia was by with the July CSR Feature.

Then on Tuesday, some really big news for the site that Graeme and the Author Promotion Team were happy to share with everyone!
On Thursday, we had Renee come in and lay out a collaborative road map that will see as being successful for Anthologies going forward.
Now with no actually Anthology round posted this week, we would bring you back to your regularly scheduled programming of weekly prompts. As mentioned a couple of weeks ago, due to unforeseen circumstances, we will be switching up the prompts for a little while until Wayne is back. What this means is that we are turning them over to you, the members of GA, to submit prompt ideas to @Renee Stevens or @wildone that we will be starting to feature next Friday. So get them in!!!
Oh, let's go look back and check out the Words of the Day. I strongly suggest you ignore Wednesday

As a many CEO's of companies like to say, 'If you don't measure it, it won't be done'. But trust me, our CEO has never said or implied that .

    Weekly Wrap Up
Well a Happy Independence Day to my neighbours to the south  Hopefully you were able to celebrate your national birthday this year in a unique but safe kind of way
And a belated Happy Canada Day and Happy Somalia Independence Day on July 1st
So I was driving down the road the other day, and I had a weird thought, and wondering if any of you have pondered the same thing, or if not? When was the last time you saw a hood ornament? I think someone had a old Lincoln Continental in my parking garage, but it has been gone for years. Do they even make cars with them anymore? I think some semi trucks have them
Enough of my musings  What happened in the GA Blogs this week?
Monday, Cia popped into our blog with CSR Discussion Day:

Then on Wednesday, Carlos popped on by with this months edition of Ask An Author 2.0.
Thursday, guess who popped in? Renee did with the Spring Anthology Wrap Up!
On Friday even though it wasn't featured, I want to call out a blog that Myr who popped in and re-posted a tutorial from Cia.
Also, hoping none of you were louts and checked out this week's Words of the Day.
How about our pursuit to excellence in site goals?

BTW, I have s few great prompts idea rolling in so thank you to all those that have submitted. But I could always use more so send them Renee's or my way pretty please

I saw this Friday night and thought it is such a good song for right now with everything going on in the world!
Well it made me smile and who better to cheer us all up than the Muppets! Hopefully it will keep that smile on your face for the rest of the week too

I also want to put out an offer to everyone! Our GA resident prompt guru comicfan, or those that love him, Wayne, will be away for a little while as he has a lot going on right now. This means we want you all to try your hand at creating a prompt or two for the next while. If you feel up to the prompt challenge, you can send a PM to @Renee Stevens and/or @wildone and we will try to post a lot of them! After next week's Anthology Wrap Up, we will be returning to our regular scheduled programming of the prompts on Friday. So we need some soon! This is a way to get you name immortalized in the GA Weekly Blog  .

Now we should get to the wrap up!
Monday, Renee featured another great review supplied by our Supercalafragalisticexpialadoshus Review Team! This review was done by @Timothy M.

Fast forward to Thursday and Renee was back again with Week  of 4 of the Spring Anthology
And don't forget about all the words that Myr supplied us with too! He will help us add to our vernacular, even if you want to discuss vermicular.
So how did we do last week? This was sooooo close it will make you cry 😭

    Weekly Wrap Up
Another week, and another week of nice weather. I guess some of our US of A neighbours had a bit of extreme weather, so hoping you all are okay  Tonight, I actually sat at my computer and watched 3 completely separate thunderstorms move through the city. Great lightening shows, and thunder that shook the stuff in my place. Won't catch me going outside in anything like that again
Oops, let me retract that! Watching the 11:30 local news and our major freeway going through the middle of the city, 4 northbound lanes had only the roofs of cars visible under water. In the NE sector the ground was white with hail up to golf ball sized and holes trough people's vinyl siding and ripped their roofs off too. A lot with flooded basements as well. Guess I shouldn't think of my light show as great, when it seems to caused so much damage .
Well I will have a pretty easy job this week as far as the Wrap Up goes
Monday, Renee was around to bring us a great story review done by the exceptional Review Team and this time was done by @aditus

Then on Thursday, Renee was back with Round Two of the Spring Anthology.
Everyday of the Week, Myr was by with a new Word of the Day. Did you check them out?
Lastly, lets check in our on story goals.

    Weekly Wrap Up
Exciting things happened this week in the GA New Blogs  Did you catch them daily, or do you rely on the Weekly Wrap Up to get caught up
So last weekend, I played 18 holes of golf on Sunday. We all practiced safe distancing and such. I say played, but I lie . We went to play in the Rockies and some of the tee boxes were quite the climb, and then back down to the carts. Since I don't wear my prosthetic leg much since I've been working at home, I don't get out on it too much during the week. Needless to say by the 12th hole, my friends who were not judgmental or pitying me, noticed I was having trouble climbing up and getting down off the tee boxes, they suggested I play best ball format. So I gave it a try! Having 3 good golfers with a duffer like me, made it so all my so called drives off the tee box were exceptional from then on  . Didn't keep score at all. Interesting how much more fun golf can be if you take out the competition of scoring.
Now I'm interested, what fun outdoor (or indoor) things have you done on the weekend and were you able to practice safe physical distancing? I saw from status updates, @Daddydavek was having a blast this week cutting his ever growing lawns.
Well enough about me and onto the update!
Monday, Cia launched the Can't Stop Reading Feature for June.
Wednesday was the 1st one of the month, so Mr. Hazday was back with another edition of Ask An Author. Remember please, send him questions to keep this feature going!!!
Thursday, Renee took over the blog to announce the first round of stories on the Spring Anthology. Make sure to check them out!!!
I want to give a shout out and also give kudos  to Myr, for getting us 7 new words we can try to work into our vocabulary or writing!
Are you a student still in skool? Well news for all of you, you all are in GA Skool and lets check your grades  The people who were 133% or A++++++++, please stand up and say your name

    Weekly Wrap Up
Well excusssssse me  Seriously, I need to apologize ahead of time.
I've been on a wee bit of a vacation this past week and I wanted to take tonight off, so I can do some social distancing visiting with some friends. We will be 6 feet apart in his back yard with a fire pit between us. All of us are on the bit shy of meeting up, but as a group, we decided lets give this a try but practicing everything we can, which is a heck of a lot more that what I see others doing in the grocery stores
So there apparently is a lack of people to do the wrap up this weekend 😮! Renee is relaxing by the lake on a post skool vacation, Cia is occupied, Graeme is a busy enchilada (I'm going to leave that as that is what my spell check put up :P). I should have asked either Reader, Dr.P, Talonrider or Gene to help out, but I left this to too late. I figured since the lights are out and the doors locked with only Myr minding the store, I wouldn't bother him
The apology is that I'm running the story query about 6 hours ahead of time. So if you are a Premium, Classic, Signature or Promising Author and I miss you on the wrap up below, make sure you leave a post of what I forgot
Really, we didn't have a lot go on this week with the GA Blog.
Cia was in on Monday with the May CSR Discussion Day:

Not fast forward to Friday, and we finish off the week by Wayne sharing some prompts.
So how did y'all do on the goals this week? Well let me show you

Oh, I nearly forgot  , here is the words of the day that Myr keeps coming our way:

Now before I continue writing more and more in a skimble-skamble way, shall we wrap this up?

    Weekly Wrap Up
Happy Memorial Day to all our American friends!!
As Elen said, it is time to pull out your bikinis and use them as face masks   Now, I am not suggesting that you put the tops on your top and your bottoms on your face  You might get arrested and for me personally, I don't need to see that . What about your neck of the woods, is it bikini weather yet? I'd ask everyone to post pictures of themselves in their bikinis but I'm scared what I would get sent in
Shall we move on from bikinis and onto more pressing matters   Well maybe not pressing, but a look back at what happened at the GA Blog this week!
Monday, Cia dropped in with the May Classic Author Feature.

So that meant on Wednesday Cia followed up with the May Classic Author Excerpt.
Finishing of the short week in Canadia (we had Victoria Day on Monday  ), was Wayne in with the Weekly Prompts.
Oh, don't forget to check out all of Myr's Word of the Day if you didn't catch them all this past week!
Does that look like a pint of beer on the right side or am I needing a drink in a bad way ?
Lastly, lets check in on our goals from last week.

    Featured Stories
There may be a pandemic going on out in the vast world as we know it, but the Review Team is working hard behind the scenes, reviewing, writing and featuring stories for us all to read! This week is a feature of Tales From the Sauna by @Thorn Wilde done up by Puppilull
    Tales From the Sauna
    Thorn Wilde
    Reviewer: Puppilull
    Status: Complete
    Word Count: 12,045
Now when many of us are feeling a bit isolated and perhaps in need of some warmth, I can recommend just the stories for you! The kind that warms your body and soul. So, without further ado, step into the sauna!
Tales From the Sauna is a three-part series of one-chapter stories taking place not so very far from my hoods (relatively speaking). In the more rural parts of Finland where all things gay is accepted but not exactly thriving, we meet Juha, who is chilling in the never-ending summer evenings of the northern hemisphere. He is (perhaps a bit too) quietly enjoying his time off for the summer, when by chance he runs into Adam. A very good-looking So-Cal boy born and bred, but with Finnish roots which he is to explore.
And boy, do they explore! The heat of the sauna cools in comparison to the heat these guys can generate. I suggest keeping something cool nearby, to drink or maybe to splash your face.
As the series continues, we get to follow the boys for summer, Christmas and then another summer (complete with a premier Pride parade) again on their journey as they try to figure out what is actually going on between them. Is it just a fling, a passing attraction? Or is it something else? How will they handle a possible long-distance relationship?
These are short chapters, perfect for a snuggled up read in the comfiest corner of the couch. Or maybe in bed…? But don’t let the sexiness of the tales fool you. These boys are hot for each other, no doubt. But they also have a connection that goes beyond mere sex. In the three chapters, Thorn Wilde manages to pack a lot of emotion as well. It’s easy to picture the small town, with a warm accepting attitude towards all people. I don’t find it too romanticized, since I feel most Swedish small towns are the same. Sure, there are the occasional idiots, but generally people live and let live. I enjoyed finding out alongside Juha and Adam just how to handle living so far apart and still not wanting to let go.
As an added bonus, you learn how to properly take a sauna. Somehow, the boys manage not to break the rules. Such admirable constraint! But it doesn’t last long outside the sauna…

    Weekly Wrap Up
Sorry Myr, I'm going to takeover the word of the day and give a new one for the overnight period of Saturday into Sunday morning.
Now it isn't glamourous and I"m sure that many of you have used it a lot in the last while.
    Bored.
Yep, plain old bored. It is a long weekend here in the Great White North, as I'm sure it is in most of the Commonwealth as we celebrate Queen Victoria's Birthday. What that means is a Monday off for a 3 day weekend for some, even longer if you haven't been working), and trying to find something to do. So what are some of your recommendations for me to do over the next two days? I'm still practicing physical distancing for personal and family reasons. My city has like 5/6th of the Covid cases in the province so stage one of the reopening is delayed. I've got reacquainted with my old love interest in Robbie Amell in Upload (how can a man look that good?). What else is there to do  ?
Enough of my pity party  let's see what went on around here this week.
Monday was a fun day where our super duper Review Team channeled themselves through Puppilull for a Feature Story.

Wednesday was an Extra! Extra! Read all about it. Rumour has it that Valkyrie was downloading too much penguin porn and blew up her laptop. Thus Renee the benevolent, decreed everyone could get bonus days to get in your Spring Anthologies!!
Wayne our promptness of prompt gurus' was back on Friday for a couple of more Prompts to get us writing!
All week Myr shared with us new Words of the Days, but left out bored

What about our goals? I know most college, university students are out of skool, and primary education is still on the go in different forms, but lets see how last week was for our GA goals.

    Weekly Wrap Up
Whoa, just about forgot to do up the weekly update today.
    Why you ask?
I've occupied most of my day playing with myself  Now get your minds out of the gutter. I woke up this morning and having nothing pressing to do, I sat down in front of the computer and played solitaire by myself. Then after some lunch, I fired up the PS4 and played the Campaign on COD 🔫 . Well that kept me occupied for a lot of hours. After dinner, I was tired of being online, so I looked in a not often used cupboard and found a jigsaw puzzle. Since I don't have that big of a condo and i took out the dining room table and replaced it with a second desk for work  I had to get going on it on my kitchen island/breakfast bar. Sadly, other than the outside borders, not too much is done yet .
So I did keep myself occupied and isolated and had a pretty gosh darn good day . What did you do on this Saturday?
So we can now jump into the weekly blog and on Monday, Cia was back with the April CSR Discussion Day:
Wednesday was Renee's day to light a fire under some of our assets  if we have been doddling on getting in the Spring Anthology.
Friday was a double whammy day! First we had Wayne drop by with a couple of Weekly Prompts:
Then Myr was also back to giving us all a word of the day! Check out Friday and Saturdays here!
As like I have in past few blogs, lets see how we are doing on our weekly goals.

    Help
So, did I get your attention  ?
Seriously, we need help from as many members as possible! I have been in conversation with @Carlos Hazday and he has 1 question left to ask an author(s) for Ask An Author. Needless to say, no questions, no Ask An Author .
Your question could be about anything you want to ask. You can specify an author or authors you want directed to, or just ask the question and Carlos will put it out there still. If you click on his name above and then click on the click on the Message button to send him a PM. Either you do that, or Carlos is going to get a whole bunch of questions from me, which nobody wants What's your favourite colour (I snuck in two u's in those two words  ) , are you a briefs, boxers, or boxer brief kind of gal or guy
So please, please send in some questions, for all our sake
Now what happened at the GA blog this week?
Monday it was Cia dropping in with the Classic Author Feature:
Then on Tuesday, kind of self serving  , Renee had the big reveal on Author Guess Who (j/k Renee )
Wednesday saw Cia back with the Classic Author Excerpt.
Finally on Friday, Friday, Gotta get down on Friday  Wayne was back with a couple of prompts.
What about our goals, are we back on the Dean's list 😮

    Weekly Wrap Up
    Soooo,
The other night I woke up with my pillow on the side of my face and I had hair in my mouth and in my nose  I've never had a beard for more than a week before in my life, but I let it grow out over the past 5 weeks. The unibomber had nothing on me  And the eyebrow,s even Albert Einstein would be jealous  So enough was enough and woke up today and got out the cordless waterproof clippers and got rid of the damn beard! Next, got out the actual hairdresser clippers and started to use a #2 to start on a fade. Went well until I got the hairdressing scissors out next  I was trying to blend the sides into the clipper cut and took off just a bit too much  No problem, I just did the same the other side to even it out . So when I took after pictures I was impressed with my 100% self haircut. There won't be any pictures of the back, no matter how much anyone begs, pleads or asks. Not going to happen  When I look over my head I have decided to give myself a resounding grade of F-.
Now to distract you from my salon skills, here is what happened at the GA Blog this week.
Monday, Renee brought us a new Feature Author.
Wednesday, our Featured Author dropped in and provide us with a Site Technology and Software Update. Anyone have a saga or two in them?
Friday was the day that comicfan returned with a couple of new prompts for y'all, or is it ya'll
I checked in today with how we did last week on the story goals last week, which I have been remiss in doing the past few weeks. So here is last week:

But due to my remissness, I missed sharing you with a couple of great accomplishments!!

    Weekly Wrap Up
Has the past month flown by for you too?  It seems like only a little while ago that we were being told to baton down the hatches and start practicing physical distancing. Work days blend into supposedly days off and daily chores and tasks are being done more. As even one member commented, her Dad was washing walls, walls!!!! I see the blogs are starting to really take off. Interesting reading how so many people are dealing with the times as well as their thoughts on it too. Some of your status updates have me laughing my butt off . Seems like GA is becoming more and more a place to come to get swept away for a little while
So what did the staff get up to this week with the GA Blog?
Cia was on Monday, with a new CSR feature for the month of April.
Tuesday was another feature of Author Guess Who Who are you, who, who, who, who?

Wednesday, Renee was back with a Signature Feature:
Friday Wayne was back with a couple of prompts, and if you look at the comments you will see why self preservation kicked in for me

    Weekly Wrap Up
Well, I'm kind of tired of asking the usual question at the past 3 or 4 updates
As I was looking through the blogs and activity this week, I noticed a couple of things that I thought I'd mention.
First off, for anyone reading @Dabeagle's story Corners you will see really high numbers of reviews and likes and overall interaction. I think that with so many of us home bound, Dabeagle has found for the lack of a better expression, a captive audience and growing audience. I also noticed it with other authors as well, @Mark Arbour posted a chapter of Northern Exposure also the likes and comments are flowing in too. With Mark having his own Club, he has also had a lot of people joining his club! Sorry, there is so many more, but these were just two of the many, many that I've seen this past week. To all of you contributing new works, on behalf of all of GA, THANK YOU!!!
Second thing I saw was the Prompts that @comicfan graces us with every Friday, might be under utilized. I'm thinking I might do something totally different and actually express myself though a prompt response  Keep the booing and the throwing of rotten fruit and vegetables at me to a minimum. I'm kind of fragile .
Now shall we actually see what great blogs we had this week?
Monday, Cia brought us all the CSR Discussion day for March. Wow, where did that month go?
Wednesday was a favourite around these parts . Carlos was back with another rendition of AAA.
Friday the prompt guru, Comicfan was back with a couple of intriguing selections for you to partake in.

So in the Weekly wrap up, I said it might be cathartic to express yourself in a blog.
As some of you know, on Friday a week and half ago, my dad was taken to the hospital in delirium, but something wrong in his chest too. They put him in immediate isolation and did a COVID19 test and checked him for a Urinary Tract Infection (UTI).
I should insert here, that Dad was supposed to be put on a list to moved from a assisted living facility to a supportive living facility. Before the above happened, I put in the top 3 facilities that my sisters and Dad and me toured. Unfortunately we only saw one, another we saw the lobby and dining area and the 3rd we didn't see at all. This was due to COVID19
So the COVID19 test came back negative, I think Monday or Tuesday last week . They said something still wasn't a 100% right with his lungs and were treating the UTI and they were waiting for a complete Viral Panel to come back. The next day, they said his UTI was still there and he was really in bad delirium and thought they were trying to poison him, and was trying to kick and punch the nurses, so they had to take immediate precautions and stuck him with a sedative and knocked him out. When he work up later, he was in restraints but was much more calmer. My older sister was allowed to stop by the hospital and visit him.
The next day went better, as my older sisters night visit she convinced him the more water he drank, the more he would pee and with the antibiotics, would clear up his UTI and he would get out of there sooner. My older sister visited again.
We got a call on Wednesday and we were told a bed was found and that my dad had to take it or he would lose his top 3 and would have to take the next room anywhere in the city. Calgary is a city of 1.4 million and laid out over a large geographical area. So we brought up that he was in the hospital, and we were told by the transition nurse at the hospital when they released him, it would be to the Supportive Living Care facility only. So I did 3 hours of paperwork (I'm his enduring power of attorney), signed a cheque for a deposit and my sister dropped off the next day as she lives fairly close.
Well the weekend wasn't great. He was convinced everyday the nurses were telling him he was getting out the next day, and when that day came, he wasn't let out, he would get mad and angry. Saturday my older sister woke up with an ear infection and thus stopped visiting. We all knew Monday was the supposed release date, they don't release on weekends. Meanwhile, we could not get hold of anyone on the weekend at the new place so we could move stuff over. I bought him a new bed from Sleep Country. Shameless plug, but they were exceptional. All their stores are closed but when I called customer service and explained we needed a bed pronto, they got hold of a regional manager who called me right back. He was able to find out what type of bed he bought from them a couple of years ago (we needed to go down to a twin size) He knew the comfort level he had bought and found a mix and match set, mattress cover, a frame for me and keyed in the order and took my card number and it was ready for me to pick up in a 1/2 hour
On Monday we called the new place and still no answer from the intake manager, then the hospital called and said that they wouldn't be able to take Dad in on Monday, as we hadn't brought a bed over and other necessary living items . Now we had been trying to get stuff over for 3 days and nobody would let us. So the hospital said they would keep Dad to Wednesday but he would have to leave then, no matter what. Meanwhile Dad is belligerent and going into delirium again. Was convinced they were turning everyone in the hospital was trying to turn everyone into zombies (In my 52 years, I've never heard my dad mention zombies before). Add onto it, my older sister now has a fever of 38.4C and aches and chills all over. So my little sister is the one on visiting as the hospital won't let me visit as I"ve been a type 1 diabetic since I was 4.
All day today, my sisters and I have been trying to get hold of someone at the supported level centre so we could start moving, but no one answering the phone. My little sister visited again and talked him down with the assurance that she would get him out of the hospital tomorrow come hell or high water. So I got hold of someone in reception that I said basically we needed to come by tonight with a bed and some basic personal items, possibly his TV and one power recliner. She felt we could if we came at 7:00 PM tonight. So I went over to dad's place after stopping to get more packing boxes.
Then at six, we get an email from the new place, they have had a staff member test positive with COVID19 today. She has been self isolating for 8 days already, but they are shut down basically. Still didn't know if Dad was moving in or not. Next the hospital called and said that the centre had called them and said they have suspended all intakes indefinitely. This meaning dad has no where really to go tomorrow.
Well I talked tonight to my sisters and even if the hospital says they are keeping him, for his sanity and ours, we are taking him out tomorrow morning. I spoke with his current assisted living centre and they agreed to take him back there since he was negative on his test, as long as one of our family members visit with him once every day, to help keep his agitation down and we start looking after his laundry instead of him.
Great! Sounds like a plan!!! One last thing to do, Dad is an outside seniors support group called C3 (Compassionate Community Care). He goes in twice a week and they look after all his medical needs, they have him do physio, he can join in on group activities (bah ha ha ) but he sits around and will converse with the other old men that come out to talk to him
So call the 24 hour nurse on duty to arrange for Homecare to start back up and arrive in the morning and evening to ensure he has taken his meds.
Now the wheels fall of the bus again. She is very sympathetic, but they have tomorrow as the termination date for him as he is supposed to be going into supportive care, which makes him ineligible for the C3 program anymore. I explained he is not going to the supportive care facility, so they can't terminate. She agreed but said the high ups would make a decision tomorrow. She also said she is unsure that they will be able to start Homecare to come by morning and evening or have the pharmacy do another refill for him .
So let me say, I do honestly believe that our nurses and facility workers are angels during this time of need. Just Dad is a victim of the circumstances and the system is letting him down in a major way. There has been any real communication between all the involved parties, but mostly with my sisters and me
I shall leave it at that and say stay tuned to this blog for future good, or bad news regarding my dad.
Stay safe and wash your hands!
