    Weekly Wrap Up
So what can I do to make the Weekly Wrap Up different this week?  I could ask someone else to do it  Or, I can throw everything in the blender and see what it comes out as
So no usual Sun to Mon this week and in order, lets see what happens. Also, tonight I will be watching one of the greatest rivalries in sports, not basketball , not baseball not football (either kind) , but the coolest sport on earth, ice hockey The rivalry is between the Edmonton Oilers *spit* and the Calgary Flames *Yay!!!*. Edmonton is trying to catch Calgary in the standings and the Battle of Alberta is usually a great matchup.
With that said, I'm going to time release the blog tonight, just that means any stories posted between 7 PM and 12 AM EST Sat night into Sun morning, won't be in the wrap up. I'll try to get in, in the morning to update any I miss tonight.
    So without further ado...
Friday, our Prompt Team enlisted the help of @AC Benus to get us all in the mood for poetry for NaPoWriMo month. Check it out:
Now here is Myr's Words of the Day in no particular order too
apotheosis, volplane, chatelaine, myriad, besot, triptych, poetaster
Thursday was an all new Grammar Guide done up by Myr:
Saturday, Comicality was in with a interesting blog name and an article with it:

We are now in the final days of March showers, as well as our goals  Let's see if both will spring some April flowers

Monday was Cia's turn to introduce our Classic Feature for the month. There is a cool download for your signature if you want to recognize the author and the story:

    Weekly Wrap Up
Well it appears that there is a lot of US Senators that seem to partake in GA Authors, and read the Weekly Wrap Up  Why you ask? After last weeks highly controversial wrap up where I asked everyone's opinion of Daylight Savings and Standard Time, it appears the US Senate were closely watching the discussion and decided to vote for year round Day Light Savings Time  The majority here I believe wanted to scrap it, and that is what they did. Cia won't be happy as the better time is to stay on Standard, where as Daylight will make an earlier sun in the winter . And we all should know how much she hates the sun.
Before we get anywhere close to a political discussion (hint, hint, don't take it there ), let us get onto the wrap up of all that went on here at GA this past week.
Monday, bloody Monday... The Review Team took over the blog for the day and gave us a great new review to entice us to read. Have you started?
Thursday was an all new Grammar Guide. Check it out to get up to date on interjections:
Friday Cole from the Prompt Team expressed a feeling I'm sure most of us in the Northern Hemisphere are wishing. Now take that feeling and try out the prompts:
On Saturday, Comicality took on a word that makes most of us groan:
What did Myr share with us this week in the word of the day?
ne plus ultra, layman, senescence, wassail, clover, primogeniture, rigmarole

We are sneaking closer and closer to the end of the month, so what is happening for our goals?

    Spirit Wolves
    by Kbois
    Reviewer: chris191070
    Status: Complete
    Word Count: 125,766
Kbois has successfully tackled the shifter world and brought us her variation, which introduces us to Kappa and Lambda wolves.
What happens when you take six wolves, messed-up families, corrupt council members and just a few bad guys for good measure. Then throw into the mix, Sebastian, Reilly, Ben, Zev, Kellan and Hunters, you have this group of wolves called The Sentinels.
Then mix in love, treachery and betrayal and you have the beginnings of one fantastic adventure, where they must deal with missing pups, amongst other surprises that will make you laugh, cry, sad and angry.
Of course as with all lycan stories you can throw some hot steamy sex into the mix and as with all Kbois stories plenty of cliffhangers.
As MrsGnomie says, you can feel all the emotions in this story.

    Weekly Wrap Up
First off, a PSA. If you live in one of the areas of the globe that has daylight savings time and you spring your clocks forward, but forgot to last night...
    YOU'RE LATE
Well now that is out of the way, I wonder how many tens of you will be awake enough to read this week's riveting edition of the GA Weekly Wrap Up I know I'm going back to bed right after I get up  I've also thrown in a little poll to gauge everyone's feelings towards this biannual occurrence.
For those that did stay awake this long, here is what happened the past week here at the GA Blog.
Monday, Cia introduced us to the March Can't Stop Reading Story (CSR) for all of us to dive into.
On Thursday, Myr was back with another wild and crazy Grammar Guide:
If that is too confusing, this is how I learned what conjunctions were  Looks like others learned the same way
On Friday, the Prompt Team suggested we all draw a green beer and sit back and give a couple of new entries a go:
Saturday, Comicality checked in with a new Writing Article:
Here is a wrap up of this week's Words of the Day:
virtuoso, sententious, exigent, diurnal, litmus test, conundrum, enjoin
Ack, we are a 1/3 of the way through March! Where has it gone?  How are we doing on goals?

    Weekly Wrap Up
    Well howdy ho good neighbours
So let me start off to say that all the blogs and comments from some of the Northern Hemisphere peeps stating that spring is starting to show up or it's coming... STOP  In my neck of the woods March and April I believe are our heaviest snowfall months of the years. Get a huge dump, melts off a few days later, huge dump, melts off a few days later, repeat. I sure we sell more windshield (windscreen  ) washer fluid than most places in the next two months.
In reality, I'm happy for those that are seeing the signs of spring and are poetic about the changing of the seasons . Heck, I might be the same way in a few months
Now to the really important stuff, the wrap up of the past week here at the GA New Blog.
Monday was the day that Cia had the CSR Discussion Day:
Wednesday was another great addition of AAA 3.0. Did you check out the story and author for this month?
On Thursday, Myr proposed to me ! Oh wait, he discussed prepositions in the Grammar Guide. Hey, it was early when I read it
On Friday, Aditus was in for the Prompt Team and suggested tackling a round robin. Are you going to partake?
Saturday, the Article from Comicality was interesting. First off, I had never heard the word he was discussing  and second, it was a really interesting article of discussing something that I think a lot of authors may fall into. Maybe Myr can work it into the Word of the Day
Did you live up to your commitment to use the Word of the Day each day? Oh, you never made a commitment?
susurration, recumbent, fraught, doppelgänger, frieze, dragon's teeth, tabula rasa
Well we finished off February and onto March now for the story goals. Here is where we finished for February.

If you under the age of 40, and never watched SCTV or not Canadian, you probably have no clue what I'm quoting and wondering also what I'm drinking too! Although SCTV was moved to the US after a lot of years of success in Canada, I think it was the precursor to SNL but not sure how many watched it. I'll put in a post below a clip of this video that I was just serenading to you all
Before Myr and the gang kick me off the Weekly Wrap Up, I better put on my serious hat and get to actually wrapping something up

If you weren't paying attention, Wednesday was here and Cia was back with the Classic Author Feature Excerpt:
*cough* @wildone slept through Thursday, so forgot to add the Grammar Guide on Regular Vs Irregular Verbs
Friday found us featuring a fantastic Fairy Tale Day by the Prompt Team
Comicality was here on Saturday with an all new article which explains Story Scope, not to be confused with plot

With the end of February nigh, shall we see where we will more or less be after Monday night?

Myr was kind enough to visit the site each and every day to give us all a Word of the Day! (pssst, don't read impromptu, or it will make a liar out of me  )

    Weekly Wrap Up
    Well Howdy
I'm in a great mood today! Why? In most provinces of Canada we have a stat holiday on Monday that is called in most places, Family Day  I know my American cousins to the south can't believe how many stat holidays that we have up here. I don't think so  So here is my rundown of stat holidays in Alberta which is the province I live in.
    New Year's Day - January 1st
Family Day - 3rd Monday of February
    Good Friday - changes yearly
Easter Sunday (not an actual stat day, but most government and federally regulated industries observe. Most private employers, nope)
Victoria Day (May Long Weekend) - 3rd Monday of May
St. Jean Baptist Day (Quebec only)
    Canada Day - July 1st
Civic Long Weekend (August Long Weekend) - 1st Monday of August
Labour Day (spelled correctly  ) - 1st Monday of August
Thanksgiving Day -  2nd Monday of August
    Remembrance Day - November 11th
    Christmas Day - December 25th
    Boxing Day - December 26th
So 11 in 12 months, not that excessive
So what about where you live, are you holidaying this long weekend too?
Let's now take a look back on what happened the past week in the blog.
Monday, our Review Team shared a review on all the stories of the 2016 Secret Admirer contest. Even though it is no longer Valentines Day, these are some good stories to read. Hmmmm, Valentines Day 🤔 maybe I'll propose a new stat holiday .
We didn't have another scheduled event until Myr came in on Thursday to take us into the end of the week blogs. He had a all new Grammar Guide. So what is your POV on stat holidays
Valkyrie from the Prompt Team popped in on Friday with a couple of new prompts:
Last but definitely not least, Comicality came in and did an Article on Soundtracks 🎼
Now it is that time of the Weekly Wrap Up to look at the neat, nifty and new Words of the Day. I put unsure faces by the words that I didn't know this week. How did you do?
sockdolager, amatory , Potemkin village , hobgoblin , censure, anathema , rectitude
We have just over 1 week to go for our February Goals. Are we going to make it?

In 2016, thirteen stories written for the Secret Admirer Contest posted in time for Valentine’s Day. The stories were very different; some made readers cry and others made them laugh. One year later, a story review was posted for Valentine's Day to remind readers of all those wonderful tales. Since this month's blog review falls on Valentine's Day itself, we decided to repeat the Special Review.
But in addition, we would like to ask you to tell us which love story on GA is your favorite and why. Let us know in the comments below, so we can compile a list of romantic stories for everyone to enjoy tonight.
    Valentine’s Day 2016
    Secret Admirer Contest   Cupid Central
    by Aditus
    Reviewer: Timothy M.
    Word count: 3,961
Of all the wonderful Secret Admirer Contest stories last year, this one was probably the most light-hearted and fun. Did you know Cupids have arrows of different colors depending on the situation? Or that missing a shot can have dire consequences, not only for the humans involved, but also the hapless Cupid who bungled the job. The management at Cupid Central assigns punishment for tardiness as well as sloppy jobs, but also rewards good work. If you want to know how, you’ll need to read the story.
I was chuckling most of the time, and I’ve asked Aditus to lend me a couple of his angels to help out in my A.I. story. But most of all, I hope we’ll get more Cupid Central stories, because the concept is delightful, the dialogue is funny, and the characters are vividly portrayed.
    Jager
    by Cole Matthews
    Reviewer: Aditus
    Word Count: 3,332
This is the story of Adam and Glenn, ‘the dynamic duo, in love and in charge for more than forty years, always having each other’s back.’
They share a life of genuine affection and care: from the beginning, when it took great courage to be together as gay men, to overcoming a severe loss, raising their son and having a grandchild. Now that old age has finally caught up with them and joints are stiff, and hips hurt, Glenn fears Adam is slowly losing his sanity. Why else would he talk to people who aren’t there or suddenly drag Jager, the old rocking horse Glenn’s grandparents gave him when he was a kid, from the garage into the house?
They are only ‘two old queens on their last leg in the journey of life. No one is there. They only have each other.’ Right? So, what is Adam doing?
If I had to associate one word with Jager, it would be trust─trust to follow through with the words they might have had promised to each other in the past: to have and to hold/from this day forward/for better, for worse/for richer, for poorer/in sickness and in health/to love and to cherish/till death do us part.
Jager won first place in the Secret Admirer Contest for a reason. Make sure you have tissues ready. And then there is this brilliant twist Cole invented, but you’ll have to read it for yourself to find out what it is.
    Lupercalia
    by Puppilull
    Reviewer: Cia
    Word Count: 7,169
Valentine’s Day usually makes you think of love, sweets, and romantic nights… but Puppilull’s story, Lupercalia, is set in the most unlikely of places for this: a prison. An ancient prison in Rome, actually. The story revolves around a tortured prisoner sentenced to die by the emperor in the annual Lupercalia celebrations. Varius is warned about him, but he can’t see why the prisoner might be a danger to him or any of the other guards.
But as the days leading up to the Lupercalia pass by, Varius finds out more about him, and his reason for being imprisoned, than he likes to know about those condemned to die. Varius questions the dictates of his life and the strictures put upon him as a soldier of the Roman empire, and it’s nearly impossible to accept the prisoner's fate, even though he remains steadfast in the convictions that led to his death sentence. Love and compassion should never be forbidden.
Their tragic romance might be doomed, but don’t let that keep you from reading Puppilull’s tribute to love in all its bittersweet glory. There’s always a chance… if you’re brave enough to face the potential pain in pursuit of love.
    Making Sense of Secret Gifts
    by Timothy M
    Reviewer: LitLover

Timothy M’s submission to the Secret Admirer contest was a story about a very private man, named Colin, who starts receiving some very public attention, in the form of gifts left on his desk by a secret admirer. The gifts are thoughtful, and some, such as a carving of his cat, give the impression the benefactor knows Colin fairly well.
Colin is a caring, if lonely, man who has been hurt in his past. In order to alleviate some of his loneliness he gives up his weekends to volunteer in a group home. Colin’s partner in crime is Sol, his sneaky cat, who can coax a smile out of the most sullen teenager. The more I read about Colin the more fiercely I found myself hoping he would find someone to care about him as much as he cares for others.
This sweet, but introverted man is unsure of what to make of the mysterious packages. A part of him is flattered someone would put so much thought and effort into these gifts, but his discomfort is almost palpable when he starts to become the center of attention in the office. It takes him a great deal of courage to leave a message for his admirer, and ultimately decide to meet him/her in person.
I’m not going to give away the identity of the secret admirer because it would spoil the fun of reading the story, and trying to puzzle out the mystery for yourself. All I can tell you is you will be more than satisfied with the answer.
    Nobody’s Valentine
    by Thorn Wilde
    Reviewer: Puppilull
    Word Count: 4,664
So it’s that time of year again. Hearts everywhere and everyone acting so lovey-dovey it’s making the air turn pink. Or red. But what if your reality doesn’t fit in? What if your life has taken a completely unforeseen turn, leaving you feeling disappointed, lonely and perhaps even despairing?
A story of a Secret Admirer that deals with these less written about sides to this thing we call love can be such a relief. If that story is friggin’ well written as well, things are looking up. Thorn Wilde has provided us with a story of Mike who is fighting an uneven battle to get over the boyfriend who dumped him. When that infamous date rolls around, he finds the sadness flares up and seeks ways to deal with it. One remedy turns out to be the one to lead him on his way. But where will it take him?
This is a truly bittersweet story telling us life isn’t always a bed of roses. I think it’s important to not lose sight of that. It’s actually somehow comforting to know bad stuff will happen, but you will be OK. A bit scarred perhaps, but OK.
    Sunshine
    by AC Benus
    Reviewer: Timothy M.
    Word count: 9,480
Writing a Valentine’s Day story filled with sadness, loss, longing and even anger, and naming it Sunshine, is the kind of chutzpah few people can get away with. But AC Benus has the unique ability to pluck at our heartstrings and fill our guts with dread, holding the story on the precipice of anticipation, yet letting us hope for a miracle.
Will the two characters make the right choice? Will their innate goodness break through like a ray of sunshine? Will it become a Valentine’s Day to remember for the triumph of love and kindness or for the loss of innocence and trust? Go read the story, and afterwards go hug someone you care about and tell them they matter.
    The Cupid Complex
    by Valkyrie
    Reviewer: spike382
    Word Count: 5,127
In this little treat from last year’s Secret Admirer Contest, Valkyrie takes us through one year in the life of Gabriel as he searches for that special someone. He doesn't always have the best of luck in his search, but he is a romantic at heart with a penchant for holiday decorating.
A Valentine’s Day misstep leads to a humiliating situation, and some accompanying depression that he battles throughout his journey for the relationship his heart desires. Dealing with obvious hurt, Gabriel plays the “hook-up” game, hesitant to really put himself out there. As the year progresses, some new friendships are forged, but everything in relationship territory remains starkly “casual.”
Yet, as the next Valentine’s Day approaches, Gabriel discovers gifts and notes being left on his doorstep. Whose admiration has Gabriel drawn? Will Cupid’s arrow strike after all?
This was the kind of story that left me smiling in one instant, and frowning and frustrated the next. Valkyrie packs quite a lot into such a short tale. I found myself feeling Gabriel’s sorrow and rooting for him to finally be with someone he truly deserves. Join Gabriel through this fun little tale, as he realizes life is full of surprises, which are often much closer than we think.
    The Lady in the Flames
    by jfalkon
    Reviewer: Lisa
    Word Count: 7,711
Imagine driving past the scene of a car accident and noticing one of the drivers slumped over the steering wheel. What would you do? There was already rubbernecking on the road, so you know someone must have called 911. Would you just drive on by, assuming the driver would be taken care of? Or would you stop and try to get him out of the car? What if you had the day off from work because you lied and told your boss you were home sick? What if, by helping this person, you were ‘found out’ and you were fired because you lied to your boss about being sick?
Our protagonist James has a lot on his mind as he ponders these questions. Of course being morally sound, he saves the driver’s life and pulls him out of the car before the big chunk of metal explodes into a ball of flames. On the news, the flames in the background make him look like a woman, so he thinks he’s pretty much off the hook of being found out.
I found this fast-paced story captivating, and I was riveted from the first line. It didn’t hurt that the characters were very relatable also. What I liked best about it, however, were the beautiful words jfalcon used toward the end of the story to describe a moment of passion.
I would highly recommend reading The Lady in the Flames if you haven’t already, and if you have, why not pick it up again and enjoy it a second time around?

These are by no means all of the stories from the Secret Admirer Contest; there are more wonderful stories for you to take a look at on the contest page.

    Weekly Wrap Up
💝💞🥰😻 Happy Valentines Day Eve 💜❤️💛🫀
    Well enough of that
Now I'm curious, is there a story that you read here at GA, or maybe not, that is nothing less than an amazing love story? Is there a story that you have written that is your idea of being one of the greats?
I know we all have been challenged as authors and poets to try a different genre when writing. So how about we challenge our readers here on the site to try a genre of love stories. Just need a list started to get us all going. Long, short, poem, prose. Let's get out and spread some love this year for Valentines Day. I'm sure there is one or two love stories on site
Now it is time to look back on the past week when it comes to the GA News Blog.
Before I forget, and I know you are getting reminders and there is lots of announcements, but we would really like to have @astone2292 have a list of stories to keep up the with the AAA feature. Can we have it so he is so full of stories and 3 questions that they will outlast my lifespan ? It is so easy, let's take my favourite literary work, Jack and Jill. After reading it, send in 3 questions for @astone2292 to ask the author. Now I'm not sure who wrote that classic, so let's restrict it to GA stories and authors. What was Jack's motivation to actually go up the hill with Jill? Why would they have to go up a hill to fetch a pail of water, wouldn't the water be down in the valley? What happened to Jack to cause him to fall and break his crown, and did Jill have anything to do with it  ? Okay, that is five questions, but you get the idea   Leave it to Aaron to find the author and get your answers. You will remain totally anonymous.
Now on Monday, Cia brought us a brand new CSR Feature for the next month:
Then we took a mini break until Thursday when Myr brought us a Grammar Guide. It was on verb tenses. Myself, I'm learning French so my mind is in overload with verb tenses, maybe I will stick to English for now:
Friday the Prompt Team turned the reigns over to Aditus who went mad, mad I say! Okay, maybe not
Finally on Saturday, Comicality gave us some hints on getting ready for your next masterpiece here on GA:
So how are we doing on our goals half way through February? We only have 28 days this month, so we all better double down

How about all the whacky and wild Words of the Day?
vendetta, bioturbation, shenanigan, equanimity, slough, superfluity, verbiage

    Weekly Wrap Up
Wow, what a week it has been for me
First I was back to work. I did not take up the offers of my peers to get a shotgun in my face or get pushed over Niagara Falls  Actually I had a pretty good week doing nothing  I'm all for that  So this week I did all the things that I put off all week last week: laundry, bills, cleaning, trying to pick out new flooring. Whew, you're lucky I'm not in bed catching up on my sleep since I'm so tired  Or maybe you wish I was in bed
First week of the month also means a busier week here at the GA News Blog. Shall we dive in right away to see what happened all week, and if you missed anything you can read it here? I do that sometimes with the Word of the Day, but the whole week is here at a click of a button.
Speaking of which, why don't we look at the Words of the Day:
evergreen, avatar, emancipation, conciliatory, calumny, admonish, syllepsis
On Monday, there was a really good CSR Discussion Day. Even if you didn't get around to reading the story, this blog might trigger that feeling to read it now:
Something about this month's Ask an Author caught my attention, and I've started reading it. You should give it a try
Thursday was the return of our ever increasing blog, Grammar Guide:
Friday, whew, like what we've had isn't enough, but our Prompt Team was back diligently to give us another couple of prompts. Is that love in the air?
Saturday ended the full slate this week with another great article by Comicality:
How did we make out on last month's goals?

    Weekly Wrap Up
What to do, what to do, what to do?
The company that I work for has a fiscal year of May to April. So our holiday calendar year is also May to April. Turns out that I actually have 4 weeks to use up, due to carryovers. I'm thinking I'm going to carry over 2 again and try to use them in the summer. But now that I'm off this upcoming week, I have nothing really to do . I thought of visiting @Krista in Kentucky, but it is warmer up here right now . That and the promise, "If you show your face around here, you are going to get up close and personal with my shotgun."  😮
So what do you recommend for me to do?
While you are pondering my week ahead, let's see what happened in the past week at the GA Blog.
Monday was a new Classic Author Feature. Check it out and maybe download the banner if you want.
That means that on Wednesday Cia was back again with the Classic Author Feature Excerpt:
Thursday was an all new version of the Grammar Guide:
Friday we had some wintry Prompts from our Prompt Team:

Here is the Words of the Day brought to us daily by Myr.

    Weekly Wrap Up
Can you believe we are half the way through January  From my eyes and ears on the ground, I hear that some of the cold from Siberia to Canada has now hit down towards the south of the USA and Europe and beyond. So how is it in your neck of the woods? Any snow ball fights? Making snow angels? Is your dog refusing to go outside to do their business?  Well I promise we won't send the cold freezing weather to our friends in Australia and New Zealand
Well we had a slow week to start the GA Blog but picked up at the end with new things going on here at the GA Blog. Let's take a look.
Why don't we start the week off with the Words of the Day supplied by Myr.
polyonymous, salvo, clerisy, preposterous, astute, paradigm, amphibology
On Thursday, Myr gave us more knowledge than I knew about adjectives
Cole Matthews popped in Friday as one of out Prompt Team members. Did you check it out?
Finally yesterday, Comsie gave us a thought provoking article. I couldn't really understand until I read it:

    Weekly Wrap Up
Good morning, good afternoon, good evening and good night if you are heading to bed 🛌
I wonder how many of you did the age old tradition of making New Year's resolutions. We are 9 days into the New Year and I'm also curious if you are still maintaining your resolution, or has it fell by the wayside already 😮 I know of one person who is trying really, really hard to keep up their resolution, but wonder if is good for their mental health. I mean, they have been on the earth for nearly 4 decades and to change something that has been part of their personality all their life, I wouldn't be able to do it. So, if by chance this friend actually comes on here and reads the Weekly Wrap Up, I myself give them permission to throw the resolution out
We did have a very busy week here at the GA Blog, so should we look back at the week to see what appeared.
Monday, Cia brought us the January CSR feature. Go check it out and put a new story on your reading list.
Then on Wednesday, there was ask for everyone on site to come forward with a story and 3 questions they would like the story's author to answer. @astone2292will track them down and get you, and everyone else, answers to your questions. Check out this blog, especially for the Author that gave us answers this round!
On Thursday, Myr brought us a brand new blog that will be appearing on Thursdays. Check out the first episode of the Grammar Guide:
Friday was time for our trusty friends to come out with another couple of prompts to get you writing
On Saturday, Comsie closed out the week with another informative article:
Goals, goals, goals! What is life without goals? Let's check out our goals for the past week:

    Weekly Wrap Up
Wow, this blog is going to cover A LOT of stuff. After all we are going to cover last year as well as this year too ! But if you were like me, it seems harder to remember the good stuff from last year, which there was, from the bad stuff . But we are in a new year with new expectations .
I would like to remember a good friend of GA and to many on a more personal level as well, the passing of Comicfan. His contributions and participation on the site will always be in our memory
On the good news side of GA, we had some transitions to different people on various different blogs. I'm very proud of the efforts and the continuation of the Review Team, Ask An Author, and Prompt Team. Without these volunteers, the blog would be a less of a destination to visit for different people.
Now what about looking forward? In all honesty, I am pretty excited about what is to come. Myr and Cia have been working in the background with different staff and a whole lot of new volunteers to make visible changes to not only processes, but presentation of different areas of the site. You will see some more changes and don't worry, not one of the proposed changes has seen me saying, 'well, the old way was better'. In fact, it is not a wholesale change like throwing the baby out with the bath water, but more like adding a sibling to make the family better  One new thing you will notice even on this blog, is the story listings. We now have the ability to run the week's story updates for all classes of authors and we'll continue to feature the ones we have all followed, but also giving a bit of PR for the non promoted authors in their quest to be promoted!
Here is all the participants of our volunteer blogs: @Timothy M.@chris191070@Talo Segura@Aditus@Parker Owens@spike382@Puppilull@astone2292@Valkyrie@Cole Matthews@Myr@Cia @Renee Stevens. I can't forget to thank all the others that are part of our Anthology Proof Team, Author Promotion Team, GA Engagement Team, Site Development Team, and the Story Archivist Team. If I forgot your team or name, let me know, I can always edit
Last thing we will do, is look how we finished off the month of December on our goals! You know, we finished off the month with amazing numbers. Great job everybody.

So with all that said 😌, let's review what the blog brought us all of the past 7 days!

On Monday, Cia had the must read CSR Discussion Day:
Friday Myr came back to kick off a blog celebrating the incoming New Year on New Year's Eve! Lots of well wishes in there and never too late to add another:
Saturday was a special day, where Myr showed off a couple of new capabilities of the site in Year in Review Blogs.
Myr actually featured a lot of words this week that might be in my day to day vocabulary  If you think they are esplanade, pyrrhic and provender, you are so wrong
esplanade, nabob, pyrrhic, verbatim, provender, rambunctious, culprit

Well imagine my shock, shock I say  when I got to GA and noticed the wrap up still up. I realized that we missed getting up the super duper Review Team's, in this case @aditus, review. Since we are basically a day late, we will keep it up for Tuesday as well. My apologies to the Review Team and all our members.

I don’t understand that the story The Reluctant Consort has not more readers. It is the best story at the moment.
When I saw this post by @dutch woman, I immediately became curious. After reading the first chapter of Jihan and Kastan’s story, I was hooked.
Jihan is a successful merchant who directs and controls his family’s business through an intricate and powerful trading network. Wisely, he stays under the radar of the Imperial Court, being well aware that attracting the Emperor's eye could awaken covetousness and envy. His father, Lord Duyi Kamran, however, is very ambitious. He is not satisfied with the courtesy title he carries but wants a real noble title attached to lands and a position in court, therefore he arranges, behind his son’s back, for his family to become a supplier for the army in the war against WestNation. The inevitable happens: Emperor Kiyan recognizes the usefulness of the Kamran family’s wealth and connections for the empire. He wants it under his control and orders his brother Kastan to marry a member of the Kamran family.
Kastan Miran is the second prince of the Imperial Family and commander of the armies of Akasha Empire, thus he wields considerable power, which equally evokes envy and fear within powerful members of the palace. As a result, they seek to attain control over him by instigating a series of political machinations.
Determined to protect his sister from an arranged marriage, Jihan reluctantly agrees to marry Kastan eventually.
Every time you think the story will be wrapped up soon, Sui creates another unexpected twist, another intrigue within intrigue. There’s always a new player scheming, who you hadn’t had on your mind before. Villains turn out to be allies and vice versa. On top, everything is decorated with beautiful scenery, rustling, colorful robes, gleaming jewelry, shadow guards, secret armies, and lots of sexy men. What more can you wish for?
Reading The Reluctant Consort had me on the edge of my seat, neglecting my cats and dragon, and my mind wandering when it should not. What are you waiting for?

    Weekly Wrap Up
So Steve, why are you blasting 80's hair band music so early on a Sunday morning?
Well, technically you have only 5 days left for buying your Christmas Presents (including mine) before the day the big fat jolly guy comes around 🎅
    That brings up another topic...

That is right, our next weekly update will be on Boxing Day, if your not sure what that is ask a friendly neighbourhood Canadian or Brit

On behalf of all the staff here at Gay Authors, we all want to wish you the very merriest of Christmases and hope that you get to celebrate in a way that makes you happy. If you are not a fan of Christmas or an observer, just be aware that all of us are wishing you all the Best as well! That has to be worth something
I'm sure we will have lots of Merry Christmas posts in the lounge coming up, so this is just one more and represents the hopes, feelings, and wishes of the entire team here at GA.
Now as we get closer to Christmas, we did have a slower week at the GA News Blog. Let's check in with all that happened.
Monday, @spike382 on behalf of the site Review Team had a great review of a story here at GA:
Then we had the all new Prompt Team on Friday bring us a few more challenges with two more interesting prompts:
Comicality was in with another great article to wrap the week up:
Goals, how did we do on goals?

But let's not forget the Word's of the Day!

Well it looks like our review team have come up with another great story to check out. Make sure you comment below! Thank you @spike382

    The Lad From Castlebay Down
    by James Matthews
    Reviewer: spike382
    Status: Complete
    Word Count: 89,419
For my review I decided to read a story by an author whose work I was unfamiliar with.  So, this is my first foray into the writing of James Matthews.
In the Lad From Castlebay Down, we meet a young man named Corbin, who, while having an artistic drive with a motivation to make something of his life, is extremely unhappy and extremely confused. There’s good reason for all of this as he is dealing a much less than ideal home life.  He has an abusive father, and a mother, who while caring, still looks the other way. He also has a girlfriend named Leah, they’ve been together for two years, and yet, Corbin is unhappy in this relationship, and they cannot seem to connect with each other.
On top of all this, his father is uprooting the entire family and leaving their bustling town to live in the tiny seaside village of Castlebay Down. His father has decided, after watching a few videos online, that he will start a career trawling for fish. The move shakes up the entire family in more ways than one, and it starts soon after Corbin meets the titular “Lad,” a friendly local named Troy.
This was a very fast-moving story.  It packs a whole lot of events into a fairly short amount of time. I think if I expounded upon that much more, I’d be giving away spoilers. I’ll just say, this is a fairly serious story, dealing with some pretty weighty subject matter, and it does it all in just 17 chapters. There’s some pretty interesting twists and turns, and overall Corbin has a rather interesting and fulfilling journey. It’s a bit of romance, coming-of-age, and family drama all rolled into one.
Overall, this is a great entry by James Matthews and if you haven’t had a chance to read his work before, I highly recommend this.

    Weekly Wrap Up
Okay, let me put my grinch hat on
Has anyone got sick of the shall we call them 'Lifetime' Christmas movies?  I mean, they are all basically the same story, just different actors and slightly different stories. But there is always a woman, who has a male adversary at the beginning. The scheming and cajoling and finally they admit they are in love with each other and everything survives what was in peril at the start of the movie.  The bakery, the Christmas tree farm, shall I go on? Okay, call me out. I have had absolutely nothing else on and may or may not have seen a few myself  The thing is they are on every channel and since 'merican Thanksgiving, they are on all the time!!
Well you knew it was coming, you had to! I was driving and listening to the radio yesterday and they were talking about new movies out this weekend. This weekend Netflix released a movie called Single Bells. Yep, it is your gay equivalent 'Lifetime' Christmas movie  If you want, watch it and come back to the blog and share your opinions.
Make sure you read the rest of the Wrap Up before you run to log into Netflix
Monday was the day we wrapped up the November CSR with the Discussion Day. Did you see Dabeagle's interview?
On Wednesday, did you get astone's December edition of Ask An Author? It was well worth the read.
Friday was the return of our all new Prompt Team and they gave us a couple of festive prompts? I guess I should say I liked all the comments in the blog .

Saturday was a return to our Article's Feature from Comicality:
Now here are the Word's of the Day:
Sensibility, Peremptory, Warp Speed, Fossick, Lucullan, Greenmail, Pickwickian

    Weekly Wrap Up
    So how are you feeling?
I asked one of my friends south of the border and they said fat and broke  I guess the fat from all the food and drinks on Thursday and the broke from Black Friday sales. Not even realizing it was Black Friday on Friday I called our local  iFly location and ended up getting the Black Friday Deal. Yes, I'm getting more for my money but I'm giving them a lot more of it. I hope my nephews and sister enjoy their time in there for Christmas presents. I hope none of them are regular visitors to GA , they would be able to read about their upcoming pressies!
Shall we jump right into what happened this week at the GA Blog?
Bright and early on Monday morning, Steve was still in bed and somehow missed getting up the Review Team's great review . When we got it up, we decided it needed to be up Tuesday as well:
Wednesday it was time for the big reveal from Renee on the Author Guess Who? Did you have an inkling on who it was? I didn't  Congrats to the author who stumped a lot of us
Thursday marked the end of our 2021 Anthology presentations, with a wrap up and thank you to everyone involved! This is all made possible by authors, the Anthology Support Team, and a big thank you to all the readers!
So how about our goals? We have 2 days to close out the month. These numbers are looking pretty good!

Oh, I just about forgot the Word's of the Day. Now that is a good way to get in the big guys naughty list 🎅

    Weekly Wrap Up
Do any of my American friends like smoked turkey for Thanksgiving? I have it on pretty good authority that it might not be the most healthy food...for you

I've been waiting a week to get that one out  I know! You can't stop laughing at it, just like me  !
    Anywho...
Canada had our holiday over a month ago and My American Cousins are about to celebrate theirs over the whole next week  It seems that in some jobs, but not in all, this holiday becomes a 5 day weekend !  I imagine if you work ANYTHING to do with retail, then it is anything but a long weekend . Make sure to say thanks to a retail worker this week
So a lot is bad in our world these days and some might say getting worse, but let's put that all aside and leave it for the Pit. Let's answer one simple question this week. What are you most thankful for in the past year, or the upcoming year?
I'll be honest, when my sister asked me this during 'nadian TG, I thought how my dad was able to slip away from us and no longer have to suffer the constant daily battles of trying to deal with his rapidly decreasing mental capacity. Some would say you're thankful for that? I would reply that even in the worse case scenario, there is always some great goodness that can and should be found.  He is much happier now.
So go ahead, let me know what you are thankful for this year. You don't need to be 'merican to play along. It is always a good thing for everyone to think about .

Looking back at the week we had here at the GA Blog, we had what was a cram packed week of 3 different blogs.
Monday had us looking at a whole new Classic Author Feature:
Wednesday, Cia was back again with the Classic Author Excerpt:
Then on Thursday, we had our final installment of the 2021 Fall Anthology. There is another great list of stories that are meant to be read!
Myr, although he had a feisty week in misrepresenting me in the Word of the Day, he reported in daily:
Proscribe, Opprobrium, Inchoate, Usurp, Cracker-Barrel, Malleable, Ominous
We have just over one week left in our goals for November, shall we try to push them over the top for the month?

    Weekly Wrap Up
Is it this upcoming week or is it the week after that our American cousins have their Thanksgiving ? Well I looked at my 'merican calendar and see it is the week after, so I will stop talking about that this week or I will have nothing to talk about next week  You all should be so lucky!
We'll skip over and talk about the next holiday, Christmas . Have you thought about my pressies yet? I have one picked out for everyone of you, lol. But really, with all the news about ports being jammed and store shelves being empty, have you started or even finished your holiday shopping yet? In my real life job, I deal with logistics and I have containers that were supposed to be here the last week of August, early September and they still haven't arrived . I might have to go around my sister this year to get gift ideas direct from my nephews this year!
Shall we move onto the week in review of the GA Blog?
We started off all Renee week with her presenting the super duper Review Team's latest entry:
Wednesday Renee was back again with an all new, long missed Author Guess Who! Go ahead, check it out and take a guess  I'm stumped
Thursday, Renee finished off our broadcasting week with announcing the second round of the Fall Anthology:
Myr checked in daily with the list of Words of the Day:
Welter, Onomatopoeia, Inimical, Peccadillo, Abyssal, Fey, Malapert
We are nearly half the way through the month. Let's check the November Goals. Yay Blue! Boo red.

    Weekly Wrap Up
Those of you that still have or always have had daylight savings time, today is the day that it is okay to be late to work  So if you showed up for your 9:00 AM shift at 9:15 but forgot to set your clocks back, you are 45 minutes early  Let's just ignore the fact that most people use their phone for their alarm and phones automatically update on their own .
So Thursday was the first of many big weeks here at GA! Did you get excited about the start of releasing of the Fall 2021  Anthologies on Thursday? There is now ample reading to keep you busy and all new stories at that!
Let's look back at the rest of the week and see what happened at the GA Blog.
On Monday, Cia brought us a new CSR Story to read over the next month! I've read it, I loved it, really looking forward to the Author Discussion Day
Wednesday was kind of a sad day  Aaron ran out of questions to ask our authors for AAA. Renee did up a blog to show how easy it is. Doesn't matter if you are a long term term member, a new member, a vocal member or a shy member, you all can submit 3 questions anonymously to Aaron. He will then be like the Cookie Monster and hunt down a cookie, or maybe an author , and hopefully get your answers and feature them on AAA. Remember, you are anonymous!
**Legal Disclaimer - Aaron has not nibbled on an author like a cookie... in a while**
Thursday was the first of four weeks of something that is getting more and more popular every time we publish. Make sure you check out all of the first releases of the 2021 Fall Anthology! A huge thank you to Authors, Editors, Banner designers and to all the readers as well. You all are making this a great success!
Well that was the week in a nutshell. But we did have our daily Words of the Week:
Wraith, Scour, Pertain, Bumptious, Duplicity, Bowdlerize, Gritty
Since we finished off the month of October, here is how we did on our goals. Pretty good October! Let's continue on into November!!
