    Weekly Wrap Up
Sadly I have to admit, Monday was the first day of the fall that it happened  As much as it pains me to admit, I'm going have to use the 4 letter s-word...
It was a beautiful weekend but around 9 AM things went downhill. By the next day it was gone, but still not the warmest it has been.
Now I learned back when I was a wee child, if you are at a loss for words you could always bring up, 'How's the weather?', or 'What to you think of this weather?' Because it is late at night even in my neck of the woods, I'm just going to ask. How's the weather?
We had another abbreviated week of the GA News Blog, so let's get it done.
Monday, Cia introduced us to a new Signature Feature for the month:
Tuesday, Myr brought us a look at another genre. How many days to Valentine's Day?
Wednesdays after a Signature Author Feature, we always have an Excerpt:
That led us into the Grand Finale of the Week! I think  that this was the final week of all the great stories that so many Authors put together for you all in the 2024 Anthology, In Too Deep:

Now if you follow the Word of the Day, I found that Myr was just downright sneaky this week starting on Tuesday and ending on Thursday. He took words that at first glance look normal. But add in a letter or rearrange the letters, and then I don't have a clue what he is talking about. How about you?
psychologist, altercation, inveterate, urbane, circumlocution, fidelity, egocentric

    Weekly Wrap Up
Okay, how was your week? Mine kind of sucked, but there is not much to do about it.
So here is what I thought I'd ask. We always hear to control what is in your control and to not fret over for what you don't control. The way I read this is there is a lot of things in the world out of our control, but when negative things happen that are not in our control, it is what you do after that you can make the decisions and control the eventual outcome
Now if I didn't lose you already with the overuse of the word control, my question is do you fret over what isn't in your control, or do you think things through rationally. I know there is different severities of this. Experiencing a rain shower while out hiking in the mountains without a jacket, is not as bad as getting a life altering diagnosis.
So are you the calm, cool, cucumber? Or are you a reactive mess of a person  I think I am a reactive mess right away, but usually doesn't take too long  to morph into the cucumber . The only issue is sometimes my reactive mess needs an apology depending how far off the deep end I go.
Now that I got that all out, shall we look at our much reduced Weekly Wrap Up, which is the plan when we have the Anthologies coming out 🎉
Tuesday, Myr kicked off the week with a Deep Dive into the genre that I really, really should read more of :
Then on Thursday, Valkyrie came back with the Week 2 of the Yearly Anthology. How are you doing on your reading?
Believe it or not, that is it  My job is done.

Oops, maybe not  Still need to recap the Words of the Day. If you are a doctor, was your specialty featured this week?
neurologist, oncologist, pulmonologist, rheumatologist, hematologist, urologist, otolaryngologist

    Weekly Wrap Up
So what did you get up to this week?
Once again, my heart goes out to everyone trying to recover from Helene, and now a whole bunch more people dealing with the aftermath of Milton
Now not sure if you know, but there is a lot of exploding going on the surface of the sun. What that means is that the northern US and all of Canada and even Great Britain and Scandinavia are having some pretty spectacular viewing of the Northern Lights (Not to be confused with Steve ). Everyday I see pictures on the local news here, that you can see them even under the glare of a city of 1.4 million people's lights.
Last night I decided to that I wasn't going to miss them, supposed to be a clear night. So I started out around 9 and saw nothing. Trying different areas around the city, nothing. So my logic kicked in and said maybe if I drive closer to the Arctic I will have better chances of seeing them. Right?  Nope, drove 2 hours north and pulled off the highway at multiple times to see nothing but the stars on a nice clear night. Didn't even see the comet that we were supposed to see. So got home around 3:30 this morning
Now for all the Canadians out there, Happy Thanksgiving!  I had always been of the belief that we had ours earlier than the US because our harvest was earlier. To my shock  I found out that back after WW1 we had created Armistice Day like a lot of other countries for November 11th.  In 1931, our parliament felt that to have Thanksgiving and the newly renamed Remembrance Day together in November, were too close together, and that Rememberance Day should be the sole focus in the month of November. So they moved Thanksgiving to October and now it is only November 11th recognized as a holiday in the month. I never knew  I bet very very very few Canadians even know this either! See, the Weekly Wrap Up is informational

Now for the big things going on at the site  It only comes once a year nowadays  We had our initial release of stories for the 2024 Anthology. See the link below for a lot of reading to keep you entertained .
We generally wind down the GA News Blog on Anthology weeks, so here is what we had before the big day on Thursday.
Monday, Cia was in with the October Can't Stop Reading feature:
Tuesday, Myr got in his last deep dive before he has to start wearing a wetsuit as it gets too cold:
Then onto Thursday, the day we get to start reading the offerings of some of our great Authors here on the site for the Anthology:

So that was it, but isn't it enough  for the GA News Blog? No? There also were the 7 Words of the Day leaning to the medical field:
pediatrician, allergist, cardiologist, complaintologist, dermatologist, endocrinologist, gastroenterologist

    Weekly Wrap Up
    Well it finally happened
After several nights of the temperature dipping down to just above 0C/32F, and me going to bed a bit hotish () in the evening and waking up shivering, I think I got the start of the first cold of the season. Well, not a full blown one. Today was a day that was focused on wearing a couple of layers of sweatpants and sweatshirts and some wool socks. Also my eyeballs are floating a bit with all the water I have drank. The throat isn't that sore anymore, so I might get to bed at a decent hour tonight and hopefully write it off as a one day cold
Has anyone else been visited by the cold fairy yet this fall? Or am I the only one to live in a climate that it is getting this cold?
I read an article which says my city gets about 20cm/7.87" of snow on average in October😮. More so than any other city in Canada except for Yellowknife in the North West Territories. Which I think is above the Arctic Circle 🥶.
Now I know some of you live in Florida or California, or on the Mediterranean. Some of you might be in South Africa or Australia where it is spring. But if you are not in the tropics , what is the outlook for your October? Do you usually see any snow at all, or is it more a November or even a December thing?
Rather than natter on forever about my woe is me, sob story of my cold and how cold it is getting out, let's move on to happier things  like wrapping up the week of the GA News Blog.
I do want to put in a special call out to all those on the American East Coast that had Hurricane Helene devastate your homes and communities and those in Nepal with the unprecedented flooding  . Or family members. No matter how bad I think I have it, it is not in the same category as others. We all are thinking about you and hoping that slowly things start to get better, hour by hour, and day by day.
On Monday, it worked out perfect this week! Cia was able to put the CSR Discussion Day on the last day of September:
Tuesday, Myr dropped in and counted up the likes and reactions to bring us a Deep Dive into Non-Fiction:
Thursday, since the entry deadline of the 2024 yearly anthology has past, Valkyrie took the time to look ahead and gave us a road map of upcoming events:

Well like the weather, it looks like Myr's mood turned as he started posting words again that I don't know  Here is the recap of the Words of the Day:
complacency, misanthrope, dilettantism, banal, osteopathy, ambivert, ascetic

    Weekly Wrap Up
Depending on where you live, how many days do you have to get in your entries for the In Too Deep annual Anthology? Calling on Poets, Authors, and even readers to get them in. So how many days do you have to the end of October 1st?
    1 days
    2 days
Oh crap, still not too late but pushing it
I am just back from a relaxing week up in the mountains at the lake where I was having a nice, quiet birthday . I'm refreshed and rejuvenated, got a hair cut today as well. I was going to go for a pedicure, but I only have 1 foot and I only get strange looks when I ask for a 1/2 price deal on a pedicure . Now it is back to work on Monday for my hell 3 months until after Christmas . Wish me luck!
Now let us gather around a campfire🔥, roast some marshmallow, or maybe make up some smores and look back at the week already in the books.
Monday, we gave Cia the day off. At least I think we did You never really know with Cia .
Tuesday, the big guy was in with another perfect 10.0 score on a Deep Dive on Mystery. Was anyone other than me surprised not to see Myr diving in the Summer Paris Olympics. I heard he looks great in a Speedo :
Thursday, Valkyrie gave us all 1 last blog reminder about the upcoming deadline for getting in Anthology entries:
Finally on Friday, Cole was back with a couple of crafty prompts :

Here are the Words of the Day for the past week:

    Weekly Wrap Up
First thing first, I really need anyone who is thinking to enter our yearly Anthology, please see Val's Thursday blog and if you fingers haven't started typing, get them going!
As you read this, I am indisposed. Read into that what you want . But I'm up by a lake in the mountains looking at the colours change for fall.
So next week in the northern hemisphere, we flip into fall, autumn, whatever you like to call it. Down under the equator, they are about to hit spring
What is your favourite season? My favourite is winter. I like a nice cold, crisp day with a fresh blanket of snow on the ground. That is me though. What I do not care for is the cold, and wind combined. Give me -40 C/F and no wind and no bother at all. If is -1C or 30F, and wind blowing, no thank you .
So, what is your favourite season? Not only that, but more importantly, why is it your favourite? I'm curious if it is summer and you want to wear just your bikini or speedo, or is it fall to watch summer evolve to winter. Will it be spring to see the new growth, or just the warming of the weather. I'm sure we will have a diverse response to this question. So let us know what your season is. Curious if we have anyone that lives near the equator that really don't have seasons I think  If so, what season do you think you would like to have?
As for this week's Wrap Up, let's turn back the clock and take a look.
Monday, we had a new Signature Feature:
Then the Big Kahuna was by to tantalize your tastes with a deep dive into the Literary Fiction:
On Wednesday, in Signature Feature week, we had the excerpt:
Val was in Thursday, and I've already let you know about her blog, but in case you missed it :
Friday, it was a whole new set of Prompts to check out, but be careful. You might want to have your blankee handy as you write :

7 words for the 7 days of week. Here are the Words of the Day. Yes, my fingers are tired after typing all these words :
electroencephalograph, intercontinental, misinterpretations, thermodynamically, photosynthesis, discombobulate, inconspicuous

    Weekly Wrap Up
There went a Saturday without really realizing it
Saturday AM I thought I would see if there was anything interesting on Prime. I haven't been on in a while. After the other week of me saying I haven't finished some of the streaming shows that I have watched past seasons of, I saw that Season 2 of the The Rings of Power was out and streaming. The thing is, it was so long ago that I can't remember the Season 1 happenings  Don't worry, @Krista is keep a collection of retirement home pamphlets handy for when it is time for me to check in.  So what could I do but rewatch Season 1? That is what happened to my Saturday.
I remember back in Grade 4, our Language Arts teacher, that's what they called it in elementary and junior high school, not until high school did you call it English, started reading us the Hobbit. I was enthralled  It was my favourite time of the day. After having it read to us I had to reread it and own a copy of my own. We lived on an air force base way in the middle of nowhere, so not really a place to find a bookstore. I think we had a library, but I was in elementary and their might have been one in the junior high, or most likely the high school. So on one trip to the big city 4 hours away, I convinced my parents to stop at a bookstore in a mall. Once going in, I looked for the Hobbit, but didn't know where to look. A lady helped me and my dad find it and Dad looked at the price and said no way. I'm sure I was much to old to have a tantrum at my age, but I do believe I did and all ended well when we walked out with me owning the Hobbit.
Jump ahead to Grade 6, I had been saving my allowance and was able to buy the Lord of the Rings trilogy next. They didn't have box sets or 3 separate books, it was just one massive paperback book! Not sure how long it took me to read, but I'm sure not too long.
So what am I rambling about this week?  What is the earliest book you remember reading on your own and did you fall in love with the characters and do you still love to go back to the story even today?
Oh I lied, the first book was probably a Scholastic order of How the Grinch Stole Christmas with a record to accompany it  Not sure what a record is, Google it

    So tell me your story!
Now onto the Wrap Up. Monday I got the pleasure to post a review by our super Review Team for the month of September:
Tuesday, Myr must have been looking ahead to Friday the 13th as he featured the Horror genre this week:
Thursday was a HUGE reminder that October 1st is rapidly coming, so get in your Anthology soon!
Friday, we had Mr. Cole grace us with two new Prompts to choose from:

Oh, by the way, are you enjoying the Words of The Day since even someone like me can understand them?
festive, gratified, beaming, melancholy, antidisestablishmentarianism, incomprehensibilities, uncharacteristically

This story is hard hitting, gritty and heartbreaking.
We follow Matt, a young man who is taken from the street and sold. He suddenly finds himself in a situation that no one would want to endure. During his time he does meet some people who have a little bit of compassion.
We meet Andrew, an author who is interested in human trafficking. He is granted an interview with these monsters, as he researches his next book. This meeting leaves Andrew badly shaken.
Whilst there Andrew and Matt get a fleeting glimpse of each other.
You will need to read the story to the end to discover how these lives come together, in a very challenging and satisfying end.

Well I guess there is some things going for us:
National Steven Day is celebrated on December 20th every year   There is an Otter named Steve that is popular on the interwebs
Some of the smartest people in the world were named Steve: Stephen Hawkins, and Steve Jobs. Some of the funniest people are named Steve: Steve Carrell, and Steve Martin. Steve Tyler of Aerosmith we are proud of.   Well, I guess we will let one movie be mean to a Steve
We sort of got back into the swing of things for the first week of September. Normal highs in my neck of the woods is 17 -21 C, this weekend all weekend we under a heat advisory with temps over 30 C 😮 Enough about this hawt Steve  and onto the wrap up

    Weekly Wrap Up
I know there is a thread going on what you are listening to now, and probably watching too! I haven't been watching or streaming too much of late. Maybe it has to do with the summer. I have Apple, Disney+, Netflix, Prime and Crave which is kind of like HBO for Canada. I got into a couple of series over the past few years and I've tried to get back into them, and just can't. Sweet Tooth and Cobra Kai.
So I'm curious, what series have you watched over the  past few years and dropped them like a hot potato? Or do you force yourself to watch everything to the bitter end?
I do have some that I do still watch to the end, but more and more that is the minority.
Why do I ask these questions?  Well I like to hear what everyone else has on these thoughts? So even it you are someone new, or someone old (not mentioning any names  ), speak up and join the conversation.
Even if you want to comment on a story that is publishing or finished, join in on the conversation as well.
Now we shall look back to the week past with the GA News Blog.
Tuesday we had the Deep Dive into the General Fiction genre:

Well that is it   ! We had a light week. Next week is the first week of September, so we will be much more busy then. I promise.

Since Myr was the one that came up with a blog, we can also thank him for all the Words of the Day:
elated, exultant, mirthful, radiant, gleeful, overjoyed, jovial

Just kidding, I know there are people that are more prepared to me, so wondering whom. I have to admit that with online shopping that I really need to get my act together and consider what to buy and buy it now. Nothing like getting a sold out message.
I usually buy myself a self Christmas present . Do you? If so, I want to hear what you are getting yourself, or what maybe you are hoping someone will give you. Greed might be one of the deadly sins, but who is counting .

Interesting question for you all, I think. Boxer or briefs ? No, not that one, I've asked that before. Also I know I would have to add in the granny panties option for one particular Author here at the site .
Nope. This might cause some fighting  Are you a dog person, a cat person, both, or neither? I"ve never had a pet and I don't think I really want to ever own one to be honest. But it seems like I am judged for that opinion . So if you must judge me, go ahead, I have broad shoulders.
Was anyone giddy to find out the winners and Authors of the Secret Author Contest? If you read even 1, 2 or 3 or more, make sure you check out the reveal blog this week.
Now onto the task at hand!

    The Rip
    by Mark Ponyboy Peters

It’s summer, at least here in the Northern Hemisphere. The sun is high in the sky, and the beach or deck lounge chair beckon, along with a good story. It’s just the time for The Rip.
GA author Mark Ponyboy Peters sets this a world away from American readers in Australia, but the descriptions of hazardous tides and currents are familiar to anyone who has visited the ocean. Peters writes us a story of two men with personal histories shaped by the current – by the rip.
He tells us the story of Scott Fraser and Justin Black. He writes of those pivotal early events affecting them vividly and engages the reader with depictions of an Australia most of us don’t see or think about. But while their shared past is important, it is in the present that the story is told. Bit by bit, we learn how each of these men has evolved and grown since the first dramatic events. Each has dealt with his fundamental self-knowledge, but in very different ways. One took a practical route many will recognize. The other’s road was more tortuous.
Peters’ story takes us into the hearts and histories of Scott and Justin, and in these threads we can see familiar themes.  Yet the setting, plot and colorful word painting into which we’re cast makes them new, and let readers see that our experiences are everywhere, in contexts not necessarily familiar to the reader.
By the end of the story, we’re deeply immersed in Justin and Scott’s lives, and turning the pages faster as events transpire. The story is propelled forward as their confusion, denial and mutual attraction alternate convincingly in their minds. How they resolve this swirl kept me reading on my beach towel even as the sun headed into the west, and my stomach growled.
Let me encourage you to read this engaging story by a capable GA author, and discover a part of the world that’s new, and a story that’s ageless.

    Weekly Wrap Up
Hmmm, what can all the gif's be about?
Quick straw poll, how do they say that? Gif as (g)if or (j)if? I've always been a (g)if person myself
So I survived camping, barely?  I sat down in a hammock and promptly fell over backwards and landed on my back on a tree root and knocked the wind out of myself. Still in quite a bit of pain (yes, I've seen a doctor and no broken ribs, just soft tissue damage in an awkward spot). Tore open the back of my calf on my one good leg and promptly got kicked off a zipline course . Sliced off the tip of my left ring finger, but not so bad that it won't grow back. But I had fun
Well the Olympics come to a close on Sunday, maybe Monday where you are. I know sports isn't a huge thing here on the site, except for Slytherin and her NHL hockey wagering. Curious how your home country did, and did it impress you? I can't comment now for Canadia as there is still a day to go . But shout out to the women for rocking the competition  .
Oh, nearly forgot why I was here  Back to the Weekly Wrap Up. Here is what happened the past week on the GA News Blog.
Monday/Tuesday, Cia posted about 1 2 more Secret Author Contest entries:

Tuesday we found Myr diving into the genre of Action/Adventure:
Then, to get into all the question mark gif's, Cia threw everyone the list of all the Secret Author entries and then whom all the participants were. So did you get your guesses in? Maybe not for all of them, but any that you were sure of? If you read the discussion thread, it might appear that @kbois wrote most of them !
Most of the action though was in the talking topic. Also the current guessing. Check it out!

Well that was it for the GA News Blog, but let us also review the Words Of the Day:
jocund, horripilation, gloaming, fugacious, lugubrious, osculate, nefarious
    I got 3  !!!!

    Weekly Wrap Up
    What’s up Buttercup? 😜
So I’m saying that to portray that I’m in a happy mood. I have been creating the wrap up all week with the plan of handing off to Myr on Saturday night for him to add the story list and publish. So the entire blog was done, ready to go. I just was putting in the last secret author entry, went to hit save, a pop up came up and asked me if I was sure. As normal, I didn’t read what I was doing and deleted the whole thing 😮 Happy thoughts, Steve. Happy thoughts
So here we go with version 2.0. Luckily there were not a lot of GA Blogs this week as we continued with the publication of the Secret Author Contest.

Well that sucks when you run out of power. Thank gosh they have trees here that you can plug into  FYI, I’m out camping with my nephews in the mountains. With a spotty weak cellular signal.
Monday, Cia was off to the races! Bringing us a great CSR Discussion Day. Check it out to find out if the author was an animal, what animal they would be:
Then we had Myr saddle up the horsies 🐴 to do a deep dive on Westerns:
Cia was back again on Thursday to promote some more Secret Author Contest entrants. Also to remind everyone to like, comment, and go to the discussion topic on who you think done it

So Myr gave me performance anxiety for the full 7 days this week. Just because I knew I wouldn’t know the words for the Word Of The Day:
callipygian, ecdysiast, absquatulate, bibliopole, ebullient, dactylion, farrago

    Weekly Wrap Up
    I’ve got a secret, secret, secret 🤫
No, I’m not going to sing all of Mr Roboto by Styx. That song was in my mind though when writing this. Go to YouTube if you don’t have a clue what I’m talking about 😀
The secret is out though, partially. Rather than doing the blogs in chronological order, let’s jump to Thursday where Cia kicked off the 1-a-day Secret Author contest. Now all you have to do is read, react, comment and then guess who you think the author is. No problem.  Being Sunday now, you get 4 for the price of 3
Now let’s back up the bus to Tuesday when Myr did a deep dive again this week:

Wait!!! Are my eyes deceiving me? 👀 Nope. That was the only other blog this week. So let’s jump to TWOTD:
widdershins, wroth, witenagemot, wainage, yegg, yare, yclept
I finally got one!!!! Just because I was such a big fan of the Star Trek movie, The Wroth of Khan

    Weekly Wrap Up
It appears that I'm back in the here and now. So welcome me back
You may not know it, but a huge thank you to Cia for her help last week. She works in secret and mysterious ways! Speaking of which, make sure you check out the Thursday blog! The deadline is fast approaching to get in your Secret Author entries. Get them to Cia as she seems to be the only one that can keep a secret around here . Probably for the best. So in case you are wondering when the stories will release, I think it would be fair to say that is a secret .
Now what happened in the last week here on the news blog?
Monday, we had an all new Signature Author introduced. Has anyone heard of her? Or maybe him, it was a dual in a way? I downloaded her little graphic and put on my siggy to see if I could get her name around the site
On Tuesday, our commander in cheif (was looking for a salut, but that is the best I could come up with) did another deep dive into one of his favourite genres:
Wednesday, we looked at the Signature Author Excerpt:
Thursday was a reminder to all, of the fast approaching deadline of the Secret Author Contest:
Friday was Val's day to do our Prompts. Check em out!

What about your this week, did you get any?
tachyphrasia, tachytelic, tantivy, tachistoscope, wanchancy, wasserman, wapenshaw

    Let the Music Play
    by C James

Before he wrote the epic Circumnavigation, Cjames crafted this fun novel about being part of a rock band, in every sense of the concept. From road crew to bandmate, Brandon's journey is beautifully told from being a lonely poorly-paid sound tech to millionaire-rocker with the dream boyfriend, in addition to a subtle nuclear conspiracy behind the scenes to add a little surrealism to the entire storyline! I was drawn in by the interesting plot and promise of the story as I think many readers upon the first few chapters.
To me, Cjames is a master of incorporating tragic plot elements like abandoned gay boys, lost dreams, and feelings of hopelessness with the adrenaline-pumping action of thrillers like gunfights (He has that in here later on), evil mastermind (Scar!), and a live demonstration that any Bond villain would drool over (Australians beware!). In this novel, he reminds me of a mainstream gay author, Tal Bauer, who shares a similar style.
Emotionally, there are points in the story that evoke different reactions from the tragedy of Brandon and Chase's family lives to the hate-filled downward spiral of Joe Clump into substance abuse. It's not just one emotion, but the entire gamut that you will see behind the scenes of famous and rich singer/musicians. I re-read this story a few times over the years, most recently after the death of Aaron Carter. Joe Clump's decline resonated for that tragedy and made me wonder how unhappy a life of fame and fortune is behind what we see from the outside with concerts and reality TV.
I highly recommend this story to readers who want to rekindle dreams, seek an adventure, or want a human story about imperfect people seeking happiness. Plus, if you are happy with this story, tryreading its sequel, "Changing Lanes", which focuses on Eric, the wild middle brother of Chase, Brandon's boyfriend and bandmate in this novel (Curious, well so is Eric !  ).

    Weekly Wrap Up
    Welcome from the past
I've done it, I have traveled back to last Tuesday and did the Weekly Wrap Up!! Pretty neat, eh? Just so you know, I came back, but before I did I drank a lot of water. Tuesday and Wednesday were stupid hot in the city. I think you could fry an egg down at the Stampede grounds those days. At least we had some relief finally on Thursday with cooler temps and some storms.
Now why did I travel back in time. I was listening to Cher belt out 'If I Turn Back Time' today and thought what a great idea! So here is the secret  Just don't tell anyone how. See, if you go on your phone, or your computer and find the settings on either, and then go to the date and time section. Then turn off the automatic setting and put in the date you want to go back to. I just backed the time up 5 days and was back on Tuesday! Genius that I am  Maybe I'll see you all back there and we can talk about what happened in the future. Now that would be freaky

So looking back on the week from Tuesday that is, on Monday the day before, we had the Review Team give us a nice Feature Story Review:
Tuesday, Myr left the wetsuit in the closet and did his deep dive in nothing but his mankini . It is hot out there!
Thursday, the masses were awaiting for another edition of Author Guess Who? when Aaron switched things up! Is he allowed to do that? I can't change the time line or who knows what😮
Friday was our Prompt Friday. If I was smart, I would have done a prompt and had it ready for when the blog appeared:

I will just come out and say it. Going back in time, I thought I'd be able to say I knew all the Words of the Day. Not a chance
ulotrichous, ultracrepidarian, ullage, wamble, wapentake, wastel; tautological

    Weekly Wrap Up
G'day all  Or is it actually Howdy y'all  Afterall it is my 10 days of fun with the Stampede in full force!! So I just had the pleasusre of being sandwiched into an LRT (above ground subway but not in the air) with probably 400 of my closest friends in a single car heading home from Stampede. No one needed to worry about hanging on to handles or bars, as nobody could move enough to fall over with lurching of the train on starts and stops. Then, to everyones extreme pleasure, someone deciided that was a good time to pass gas ! Then we got stuck behind another train and we sat there with no air flow in the train for about 5 mniutes. And it didn't get less, it got worse!!! Why people, why?
Anywho, I'm getting to bed at 2 AM and have to be down at the grounds today at 8 AM 😮 5 hours sleep should do it. I have to purdy myself up so need to get up a bit early.
Last thing I thought I would mention, today was Gay Day! Yes, the last place you would think would have gay days would be a 10 day rodeo and exhibition with all those cowboys and cowgirls, or people wanting to be cowboys or cowgirls. Mind you over a 100,000 people go a day! Nice to see so many couples, men, women, saw a lot of trans people that were wearing trans patches, but holding hands and walking around happy as could be
I shall now get the Weekly Wrap Up posted so we do not have to look at that foul mouthed, Valkyrie's blog for another day! I tell you, my mom would have had a bar of soap a the ready as she headed down to Eastern NY State to discuss the issue with Val
Monday, we had the Weekly Wrap Up, up for a second day!
Tuesday, Myr was at the ready to look at the oft overlooked genre of Poetry:
Thursday, we had a suprise in our Anthology day. Val interviewed Myr about GA the history of anthologies here:
Friday, the above mentioned blog was posted :

Let's move on... I was 0 for 7 again sadly this week! Luckily I'm increasing my volcabulary with these Words of the Day:
jactance, jalouse, nidificate, nasute, nubivagant, nugatory, ubiety

    Weekly Wrap Up
First off, to our millions of Canadian members, Happy Canada Long Weekend! Sounds like it is a scorcher no matter where you are. Here in my little burg, believe it or not we have been on extreme water restrictions, like fluhing the toilet once per day, 3 min showers, no outside watering at all, etc. since 23 days ago when we had a main feeder line from our water treatment plant, big enough to drive a truck through, broke  A city of 1.5 million and and 80% of the city and surrounding towns and cities get their water from there. I need to do some laundry, 2 sets of bed sheets waiting to be washed, and tend to other such duties that are better if done in the shower, so they say July 1st will be they day. Don't worry, I've been taking my 3 min showers so I don't stink .
While digging up the broken piece the found 5 other pieces about to rupture further down the line. Shout out to the County of San Diego, California for helping us out as they were the only place that could spare 2 sections that we were short!!
Can you believe it it the end of June! Half the year is gone. Less than 6 months to Christmas and to get my present! Also sadly in the nothern hemisphere, the days are getting shorter
This also seems like a great time to remind all of our procrastinators out there, that the Secret Author Contest entries are due by July 24th. Oh, new rule, send your entries to me and I will make sure they get to @Cia  NO DO NOT DO THAT, I'm just kidding
Monday, Myr informed everyone of the upcoming Stories 3.7 Software Update. Remember last week I said we have to embrace change, well lets do that!
Tuesday, the big guy himself was back again to go diving into the paranormal :
Thursday, everyone's favourite Kentuckian male, after Colenol Sanders, was back with the big Author Guess Who Reveal:
Finally we saved the best for last when we had Cole Mathews come by with a few more prompts. I was reading them and I had a totally different idea that has nothing to do with this weeks suggestions, but I think I might give it a go .

Now down in the Eastern part of North America, I guess it has been hot and humid. I even heard the term 'Swamp Ass' mentioned a few times  No matter how bad it was, Myr got up in the very early morning and brought us the daily Word for the Day!
eagre, galactrophorous, gadzookery, gallinaceous, jabble, jentacular, jargogole
For those of you that are keeping track on my poor volcabulary skills I thought I had 2 this week! But alas, not even 1  Eagre is not eager I learned. The phrase that 'Valkyrie spoke to me in jibble jabble' is also not correct , even though she does do that

    Weekly Wrap Up
Is it just me or is it dark in here ? Where is my menu bar? Well the say that things that don't change go stale, so keep that in mind at times when you hate change  Wait, Google is dark for me too! My Documents is empty 😮 WTF 😮
A bit of a surprise when I logged in tonight. I mean everything else I have is in dark mode, so why not GA, right? The thing is, I don't know what I did or if I can reverse it
I do have urgent matters to attend to tonight  so we are going to to do short and to the point.
First though, I wanted to discuss the word Karen, not necessarily the name. I mean I have a few friends that are named Karen, but they are not 'Karen's' Does that make sense? So I know 3 Karen's that are definitely not Karen's. I don't know an IRL Karen that is a Karen, but I'm curious, out of all the Karen's you know, how many are a Karen and how many are not? Thank gosh my parents didn't name me Karen , must be confusing.
Enough nonsense, here is what happened at the GA News Blog this week.
Monday, Cia was kind enough to introduce us to a new Signature Feature:
Have you checked out any of the Non-Fiction genre here? Well Myr has lined up a bunch of stories that fall into that genre?
Cia moseyed back in on Wednesday to give us the Signature Feature Excerpt:

Thursday, Valkyrie came through for me  She took a question I had and put a blog forth regarding it. Check it out:
Friday, if you did not get enough Val the day before, she was back with the Prompts this week:

Okay, 2 weeks in a row I did not know a single Word of the Day. So I'm very proud to say... I knew 1  this week!

    Weekly Wrap Up
    Well I'm a silly boy
I was enjoying a nice cool evening to fall asleep to , and was sawing a log or two, when I woke up in shock! Shock I say
You ever wake up and realize you were supposed to do something and you forgot to? Usually for me it is a work thing and then I think to myself that there isn't much I can do about it until the morning and roll over and fall asleep again .
Just note that happened tonight and to show my dedication to everyone and GA, I got up, jump in my wheelchair and rolled out to the desktop and here I am at like 2:45 AM doing the Weekly Update! Now you could say I wouldn't be doing this if you would have just had done it earlier and not left it to the last minute. Right? To that I say, who the hell asked you?
Moving on, let's see what happened the past week at the GA News Blog.
Monday, because I left something to the last minute, starting to see a pattern here 🥷, I was late posting the feature story review of a popular story done by the great Review Team, specifically @W_L:
Tuesday, Mr. Myr, as he has told me that I have to address him as from now on, did a Deep Dive again:
We then jump to a collision at the junction of Thursday  We gave you two GA Blogs at once.
First was another interesting Author Guess Who. Can you guess who?
Also we had a confusing Anthology Post  I got out of it that it was Val's bday the other day  So pop in and give her a birthday bump or two:
Friday, back to our regular programming, we had @colematthews drop on by to give us a couple of new prompts to try out:

Alas, it is time to review the Words of the Day. Another week of me not knowing any of them :
periapt, orrery, obambulate, lacuna, ragabash, ranarium, rampallion

    The Brilliant Boy Billionaire
    by Altimexis
    Reviewer: W_L
    Status: Complete
    Word Count: 474,949
The primary reason for reading Brilliant Boy Billionaire is its sense of first-person adventure, especially as someone who has encountered similar stories over the years, such as my first, Dewey Writer's Brian and Pete series, starting with For the Love of Pete, where the excitement of a young gay teen is explored with a complex plot and backdrop. At first, it felt like an epic road trip type story with the protagonist seeking safety and a place to belong.
The first half of this story has a lot of interesting first steps for our main character, who might be "brilliant" but he notably has major issues in emotional intelligence and experience beyond technical knowledge. However, having to leave home due to an abusive situation and a major crime he committed with justification, Adam, sometimes known as Simon (rarely though), and often known as JJ (his main alias) isn't a perfect hero. He messes up a lot and he lives with his regrets. The story's rich plot includes a lot of technical details on various things from speculative physics and computer science to mundane technical details about photography and bicycle repair. In addition to a good character arc and technical details, JJ has a kinky side that would best be characterized as a fetishist, which adds a few degrees of spice to the passionate scenes if you are interested in those elements.
The second half of the story deals with his journey to accept his past and grow. Despite being a genius, he's still human. He learns from life experiences, seeks out human connections, and I think found real happiness with a partner, who matches him. Though his choice in partner felt like it could have used more development, this is not a romance-centered story. Some nuances are left to our imagination.
Brilliant Boy Billionaire creates a series of plot events that make me stop in the middle of chapters with joy and sadness. Life is continuously throwing new technical issues for the main character, but Altimex handles each new technical point with a depth of detail to resolutions that makes the character relatable, not as a Gary Stu tech genius with technobabble solutions every time but a practical person with limitations placed by reality.
Not all things were solved perfectly by the Altimexis, especially the emotional scenes of JJ battling his evil "father" in his nightmares for a decade without severe real-world fallout, but I thought Altimexis dealt with the PTSD of child abuse with a good deal of restraint and respect as much as he could without compromising the narrative.
I recommend this story, which is 84 chapters long and over 470K words because it's an epic adventure of a gay man's journey to find happiness despite his horrible beginnings in life. It may require you to hold some suspension of belief, but in exchange, you will get a great tale from the backwoods of Indiana to the major cities of the United States as a once-in-a-generation great person's life is described to you from their perspective.

    Weekly Wrap Up
Have you ever gone out to dinner and thought you were hungry and then only had the waiter/waitress bring out your entree and then realized you were not that hungry?   That happened tonight when a few of use went to East Side Mario's. I knew I wasn't going to eat both pieces of the chicken parmigiana and spaghetti, Italian wedding soup and the bread. But I was full after a piece of bread, half bowl of soup and not even 1 of the 2 pieces of chicken. Never mind how little of the spaghetti I actually ate. Why did I order that?
Next question  , remember in the good old days when the wait staff asked if you wanted the leftovers to go, and you said ya and they took your plate to the back and put it in doggy bag/box and brought it back to you? Why don't they do that anymore? I mean, when I was done I was covered in marinara sauce. Oh, maybe that is why they don't do it anymore .
At least the waitress had a sense of humour and said that now that I had lunch for tomorrow I could come back for dinner tomorrow night !
Where is this random babbling leading to you ask ? We had great service and meal, like above and beyond. So when I looked over and saw a friend's tip was 0%, I felt like I had to compensate for him. Do you call him out in private? I do understand that we are being asked to tip everywhere nowadays. Maybe the exception being McDonald's. It seems like even places like Subway they expect you to tip them before you leave. Still, I think when someone, including the cook staff, give you an excellent meal that you give a bit extra to say thanks.
My intention is not to start WWIII here . As I know this is one of those different point of view things that Val was talking about in this weeks prompts, but be honest, no judgement, no replies, no justification needed. Do you tip for a prepared menu out, or maybe a sandwich at Subway or a latte at Starbucks? I'll be honest, they have got me right where they want me  If it is a meal out, probably going go 20% if I'm happy. In the other places, and the smallest they have is 10%, I'll choose other, and put in 5%.
Now that I'm done with that, thank gosh, let's see what happened this past week on the GA News Blog. I'm always appreciative of tips, but not the ones like don't eat yellow snow .

I'll be honest, I knew nada. Not a one. Nope.
