    Weekly Wrap Up
First a disclaimer, I'm tired and none of me editors are around to read the wrap up for me
I hate to say but the first couple of weeks have been terrible for our US friends and neighbours it seems. With LA burning down and the east and southeast getting blasted by ice and snow, I have to say I hope that all of them are okay  I'm sure there is other places too that are having strange and wakey weather too, like Friday we had an actual thunderstorm (rain) and a blizzard Saturday night. Nothing that so many others are living through at the moment.
I reached out to a couple of our Classic Authors that live in the Greater Los Angeles area, and happy to hear that @viv and @shadowgod are both safe and not near the fires.
I am probably missing out on some other areas of the world, so tell me, is the weather where you are normal or have you been hit by something horrible? Or am I missing an area that I have not heard of? Like is Australia having wildfires which they have been prone to lately in their summers?
Rather that be on the sadness, lets move onto the positive this week. We had a good week for the GA News Blog, so let us wrap it up!
Monday, Cia kicked off the new year with I think was the monthly CSR feature  Although it said Signature Feature in the title. I think she was tired like me and her blog editors weren't around either . But check out his months CSR Feature:
Tuesday, we had Myr drop in with a new Genre Deep Dive where he went all Historical on us:

Thursday was a call out to all the sites poets! Valkyrie let us know the topic of the 2025 Poetry Anthology:
Friday, for fun, Aditus didn't go with the traditional Prompts for the first Prompt Friday of the year:

Not 4, not 5, not even 6, but the whole 7 days this past week we had a Word Of the Day. One was even published before I got the Weekly Wrap Up done last Sunday .
renewal, prescient, glibness, aggregate, vociferate, alteration, solitude

    Weekly Wrap Up
Some say it is too late 5 days after, but screw them ! I'm still going to say Happy New Year! Maybe without the fanfare, but on behalf of all of us here at the GA News Blog and GA, we wish all your dreams and hopes come true in 2025 🥳
It must be the sign of my age , but I was sound asleep by 11:30, with no real reason to stay up past midnight . How about yourselves? Did you ring in the New Year with a party, or just maybe yourself and one or two others? Did you have a refreshing alcoholic beverage or two to celebrate the New Year? Okay, insert your age below if you agree with the statement that last year went by so quickly?  Except Europeans, we don't want to run afoul of the GDPR and DSA by asking your age, so maybe say you are in the 1-100 age group or the 100 and over age group?  Usually the older you get, the faster they go. Somehow I can remember being like 15 and couldn't believe how long it took to turn 16 so I could get my drivers license or the two excruciating years to wait to 18 so I could go to the bars (change 18 to your local minimum drinking age)!
Speaking of age, I should bring up that yesterday was &#@*%'s Birthday.  I am not allowed to say who it is, but if you guess, great job!!! At least they cannot say I told anyone .
Now the other thing I've remembered from past years, is don't ask if you have any New Year's resolutions, as people will be telling me how useless and silly they are. But, I'm a bit of a slow learner , so did you make any New Year's Resolutions?
We had a pretty short week at the GA News Blog, but for good reason. Anytime we have a Writing Event come to fruition, it is great to hear less from me, and more from some great authors who took up the challenge and gave us all something to read.
Monday, Cia closed out 2024 with the CSR Discussion Day:
Tuesday, we got the last of the year Genre News from Myr:
Finally on Wednesday, it is a day a lot of people were waiting for. The release of the 2025 Auld Lang Syne - A Tribute to Carlos Hazday writing event. Check out all six of the great stories here:

We did however have 7 brand spanking new Words of the Day:
chronometer, synchronize, chronicle, chronoscopy, anachronism, incongruity, nescient

    Weekly Wrap Up
    Ho Hum
    LOL.
Do any of you feel that that the time off between Christmas and New Years can be a bit challenging?  I mean I have visited with family and friends and such over the past week and a bit, but now we have 2 more days before New Years and then things can return to normal  Well, as normal as my life can be .
Geez, not even 100 words in and I'm at 4 emojis already. I must be emotional today 😢.
Okay, enough about me, or so you think. Was this years Christmas profitable for you? I mean, that is how you judge a Christmas isn't it ? Well if I'm honest, I've been in the red since I was about 14, but that isn't necessarily a bad thing. When you see others happy with what you gave them (including my opinion that I handed out freely this year ), it can make the season all the best. I did have an unusual situation, one of my best friends has 4 kids: 24, 22, 18 and 12. I've continued to buy presents for all of them as I felt some self guilt for buying the youngest a present, but not the oldest . So this year I bought the 18 y/o and 12 y/o presents and told the 18, 22 and 24 year old you are now all cut off. I guess I couldn't justify buying a 30 y/o a present when her younger brother hits 18.
Another question, did you go out and buy yourself something for Christmas this year? Last year I got myself a new Apple watch, but I'll be honest, not enough money to go out and do that this year .
Well I have hit you all up with a lot of questions, if you want to talk about something different, have at it.
The real reason we are here is to wrap up the week so let's go!
We started this week on a Tuesday with Myr's Deep Dive:
Thursday was Val's turn to make a last reminder for the upcoming Anthology as well as make a big announcement on next years Anthology:
Friday, it was Prompt Friday. Guess Who?

Myr's Words of the Day, did you guess them all?
rhapsodic, rubicund, heartwarming, festival, Boxing Day, on Fruday: krypton, chronicity

    Weekly Wrap Up
So did you celebrate the start of the Winter, or summer, with the solstice yesterday? Did you go to Stonehenge? Maybe you celebrated Soyal, Yalda, Saturnalia, Midwinter, St. Lucia’s Day or Dong Zhi? No matter what you celebrated or where you celebrated it, the days shall get shorter or longer. Me being in the longer side of things, I'm really looking forward to it. This dark from 4:30 pm to 8:30 am can be tiring  But turn that frown upside down, cause if you live in Alaska or places North, you are in 24 hours of darkness .
But then again sneaking around in the dark would be easier  for any randy teenagers out there .
Now for the past two weeks, I've asked what was your favourite Christmas show or you song is. This week, let's get really selfish. If money was no object, what would you want for Christmas? I mean you can ask for world peace, end to homelessness, end of different classes of society, which are all great things, but I want to know what your bestest Christmas present would be? Be greedy   Maybe money doesn't need to be an object, would true love count as an idealistic idea? You all tell me 🎄🎅.
Onto the 2nd last wrap up of 2024  What happened to the year? For some reason I remember last year thinking that I can't believe we are coming up on 2024. Now it is coming up on to 2025. Oh dear, oh my.
Monday, Cia dropped in to give us a whole new December Signature Feature:
Onward to Tuesday, when Myr bought forward a glance of a new genre:
If Monday didn't pique your interest enough, with the comments and recommendations to read our December Signature Author, maybe an Excerpt will:
Thursday was a bit of a wrap up in itself. Valkyrie looked back at all the writing events over the past year. Did you read them all?
Before we move on, let us not forget about the impending deadline to get your Auld Lang Syne - In honour of Carlos Hazday  works into Valkyrie!
Friday, Mr. December Signature Author brought two not so Christmas Prompts, or are they?

After Sunday it looks like our master of words left the periodic table and got back to words that some of us don't know
bromine, kakistocracy, kaleidoscopic, quixotry, quiescent, quagmire, ruminate

    Weekly Wrap Up
    So who is counting days?
Only 10 days to the start of Chanukah!!!
Oh. Looking at my calendar it appears that is the same day that is Christmas  this year.
If I missed a holiday, let me know. I will put in a mention for Festivus as it seems to have made it onto the North American calendar too!
Once again, I apologize if you are not into the whole seasonal talk. You can skip down to the recap  if you want.
I will be tackling another Christmas topic now. Last week we talked about Christmas songs. So let's move onto Christmas movies or shows. What is the movie or tv show that makes you realize Christmas has started? Me, it will always be The Grinch Who Stole Christmas in the original cartoon version. Props for Jim Carey's human version but still have to go with cartoon one. Oh, let's have a two for today! Second question, one that is been highly debated for years! Is Die Hard a Christmas movie or an Action movie? I should put a poll in here, but it ruins the flow of Wrap Up blog . Just did some quick research and one poll found 33% saying it was, while 50% say it isn't. Just another case of where the majority is WRONG
    Now onto the Update.
Monday, the super duper Review Team brought us another monthly story review:
Tuesday, the big kahuna was back in with a look at the Fantasy Genre:
Thursday, Val popped by to let everyone know about the upcoming Writing Tributes. Only 17 days left to get your stories in for the Auld Lang Syne event in memory of Carlos Hazday:

Then the pesky penguin popped her head in again on Friday to bring us some Prompts:

Seven days a week, Myr brought us seven new Words of the Day:
nickel, copper, zinc, gallium, germanium, arsenic, selenium

    Reviews
We are now here at the last 2nd Monday of the year. After reading the below review, I think Aditus and the Review Team knocked it out of the park for 2024. Settle down with this story as we will have all new ones in 2025!
    Special Circumstances
    by lawfulneutralmage

Special Circumstances caught my eye because the full-length novel is written by a new author. I had to try it.
Jamie Artois (I love the name) is a police officer in London. Right from the first day, he is attracted to their new Special Constable, Mike Lane. Because of that, he asks his sergeant to never crew him up with Mike again despite being impressed with his work performance and knowledge.
In the end, Mike takes the initiative and asks Jamie for a date, terminating Jamie’s uncertainties (Is he gay? Does he fancy me too?) Yes, Jamie, all of the above. Very happy with this development, I read on, and then a major twist occurred. I must admit I had difficulty wrapping my head around this (always read the tags, Addy) and getting accustomed to the change from ‘normal’ to paranormal. The shift is well-written and plausible, just sudden. That’s all I will reveal.
The tension grows from chapter to chapter while Jamie and a stuffy politician hunt a serial killer. The police dialogue feels authentic, sometimes technical, and the very well-described procedures show the author knows what he’s doing.
I’m still happy I waited for the story to be completed so I could binge-read it and avoid nasty cliffies. Did I hear sequel(s)?
As an aside: I love Jamie’s playlist -could be mine- and not every German is an uptight er...person.
A reader commented: Al Norris: This was a wonderful story, lawfulneutralmage. Thank you for the ride!

    Weekly Wrap Up
"All I want for Christmas is my two front teeth, my two front teeth..."
Does anyone remember this classic Christmas tune? How about some others like Grandma Got Run Over By A Reindeer, or even the classic Kevin Bloody Wilson song,
     .
I worked decades in a retail chain and in those decades, after Remembrance Day on November 11 you got 24/7 Christmas songs on the speaker system. I think that is when I developed a dislike for traditional Christmas music

I did develop a love of non-traditional Christmas songs though, Mariah Carey's All I Want for Christmas tells me it is the season and Darlene Love's Christmas (Baby Please Come Home) I love and can hear on repeat on my compact disc player . Like David Letterman, it is the last song I listen to on Christmas Eve.
So what are you? Are you a traditional Christmas song lover, and do you like go out carolling to show your love? Are you a non-traditional Christmas song lover and sing you head off in the shower ? Or, do you just not like Christmas and anything to do with it? You are entitled to have whatever feelings you want. I'm not going to try to convert you .
Now last thing before I get on with the Wrap Up, I am heading out to my local Walmart at 9:15 PM to pickup my last Christmas present ! Don't hate me
Let's see, on Monday, Cia came spreading joy about the announcement of @kbois becoming Signature Author, and they are our December CSR Feature this year:
Tuesday, Myr brought laughter to the Blog with a look at the Comedy Genre:
Finally, Thursday was the big day!! Yes, we got to the Prompt Team Event 🥳. I've read a couple and impressed, just I need to go back and comment and recognize these great tales inspired by our Prompt Team:

    Weekly Wrap Up
I hope all our American cousins had a great Thanksgiving weekend 🦃 . It is always nice to get together with family and friends over a big feast if you are lucky enough to do so. For those that didn't, we are thinking about you too  Even though I'm not down south of the 49th, I must have been personally feeling everyone's thoughts as I found myself not only undoing one, but yes two of the buttons on my 501's Thursday evening .
Being a late Thanksgiving this year meant that I was able to get most of my Christmas shopping done on Black Friday. I have picked out an individual gift for each and everyone of you but some I might wait until Cyber Monday. Sadly, this year I won't ask for all of you to send me a present in return, to my address of Wildone, Calgary, as Canada Post is out on strike  So no need to send anything this year. We can pick it up again next year  . If your presents are a bit late, at least you now know why .
It was a cold snowy week here and it still looks like a fresh snow fall. I'm kind of enjoying it
Now let's see what all happened this past week in the GA News Blog!
Monday, Cia was by with the CSR Discussion Day. I have to admit, the night before I was reading an interview with Timothée Chalamet, and then Talo said something almost identical and I was like   😮. But alas, nope, not the same person  Wouldn't that be cool though if someone famous, besides @Myr, was a member? Oh wait, I'm reviewing the CSR Day, ignore me :
Tuesday, the famous one , was by picking up again the weekly Deep Dives:
OH, I forgot  Tuesday, December 3rd it the date to get in your Prompt Team Event entries. To get a recap, check out Val's entry on Thursday:

Lucky for all of us, Myr was prompt and ready to go with a Word of the Day, everyday!
silicon, phosphorus, sulfur, chlorine, argon, potassium, calcium

    Weekly Wrap Up
Steve has climbed into his cave and don't wake him up until the end of April.  I think it it is @Slytherin's turn to stay awake this winter

That bear just happens to be the colour of outdoors.
We got dumped on the past week. No road lanes, no sidewalks, no nothing. All buried in snow. It is beautiful if you don't need to go out into it  Also, the temperature dropped into the minus celsius without windchill  Winter is here, I hereby declare. May you all share the wonder of it
I'm in a bit of a predicament. I signed up for the Prompt Contest, and just a reminder that you have less than a week to get them in. Make sure you check out the link below to get all the information. Now some of you can put out a prompt like in a few hours. I've been going for over a week now, and over 5,000 words and I'm not even half way to my final that I have pictured. I don't know how you all do it. I'm right now in the stuck category where I don't know if I can finish. Also, who wants to read a 5-10,000 word prompt  These are the things that swirl around in my head, along with all the air, when I get like this. Help?  Any ghost writers out there?
Now what happened this past week   Something really, really, really big happened on Thursday! Keep reading down to see the big news on that day
Monday, I was busy. I had to change my signature at the bottom of my profile as we had a new Signature Author introduced:
Myr was back in the saddle again on Tuesday, but I think it was on a mustang  He gave us the top read stories for every tag for the past 6 months:
Wednesday was a nice teaser. A teaser in the form of excerpt on why to read this month's Signature Author's story:
Thursday, was that big news that I was talking about! Check out our newest Signature Author:
Friday, speaking of Signatures this week  Aditus popped in with a couple new Prompts:

nitrogen, oxygen, fluorine, neon, sodium, magnesium, aluminium

    Weekly Wrap Up
So welcome to the first nude GA Blog  Now I am not personally nude myself, at the moment .
There is some non negotiable rules to a GA Nude blog:
Do not post any picture or like image of yourself or anyone else reading the blog nude  You'll get banned   Do not get nude in front of others unless this is a daily activity   I am not responsible nor is GA if you damage while moving your desktop and monitor to a room where you can get nude. GA and me are not responsible for any negative reaction while reading this blog nude. If it helps you out, then we will take full credit   If you are not currently nude to read the blog, get nude! Well if you haven't just moved on, enjoy yourself in your bday suit. I think it should be something you are comfortable in. Now if you are a prude and don't go nude, you are also welcome to read too. Oh, don't picture others naked in your mind, or you may be scarred for life . Now that you are in your nice lounging Sunday morning wear , shall we take a look back at the past week in all its glory?
Monday, the Review Team revealed all on a great story for the month of November:
Tuesday, Myr stripped back everything on a genre:
Thursday, Val exposed us all to the upcoming Writing Event for the New Year. She kept yelling if you want more, you need to yell louder :
Friday, I think I stole the show on Prompt Friday. It turned into a music discussion instead of prompts  Let's hope someone had an idea or two.

Now let us not get distracted when Myr donned some tassels (not saying where) and gave us the Words of the Day:
agate, hydrogen, helium, lithium, beryllium, boron, carbon

This short semi autobiographic story featured in the In To Deep Anthology 2024.
This is a very short tale where we find the author drawing on true life experiences.
I'd suggest having tissues available, as this story whilst only 1000 words really packs a punch.
We discover what it's like to lose a parent, which will have many of us thinking about what the future may hold.
A really emotional story, that is beautifully written.

    Weekly Wrap Up
    Or
No matter who you prefer, Daffy or Sylvester, they both have what's on my mind!
I'm at a loss on what to expect of late. Snow one day and cold temps for 3 or 4 days, then mild summer days (20 C) the next few. Rinse, Repeat and carry on. Luckily the snow tires are on!
So, tell me how beautiful it is where you are. Tell me it is sunny and 80 in Florida, or California! Let me dream
Speaking of which, the past two winters I escaped in January to Hawaii. This year, I'm thinking LA   For those Angelinos out there, or visitors to the city before, where should I go, what should I do? I have to admit that I've done Disneyland, California Adventure, Universal Studios, but like 20 years ago . My last trip I did the La Brea Tar Pits and Museum, The Holocaust Museum, and did a drive around the city. Oh, stopped one day at the Aquarium at Long Beach and I have been to Sea World in San Diego. I took the I-10 to its end at Santa Monica but didn't know where I was going so turned left and ended up parking just before Marina Del Ray . Walked to the beach just in time to see a gorgeous surfer walking across the beach and put down his board to take a beach shower where he stripped out of his wetsuit and I had a free show. Yes, that kind of show .
I think I want to see the Getty Museum, maybe the Griffith Observatory.
    Okay, enough of January
The Weekly Wrap Up is actually looking into the past, not the future  So what happened this past week?
Monday was the day that Cia launched the November CSR:
Tuesday was Myr's day to go looking at one of his favourite genres I believe:
Wednesday ! Guess who was back ? It was Aaron with an all new Ask An Author 3.0:
Thursday, everyone's favourite puffin came by with a brand new writing event :
Finally on Friday, whew, I think I need a break . Aditus I'm sure created a lot of click bait with the way his Prompt Blog was titled and started  You dirty minded people

What? I'm not done? I hate that internal voice that won't let me move on . Myr gave us a mixed bag of words this week on the Words of the Day:
phlebotomy, vehemently, ligature, etymology, phenomenal, chirography, circumvent

    Weekly Wrap Up
I do this every year at this time  So, if you are in a area that falls back, you can prove to Cher that you really can turn back time
If you missed turning back, you can go back to bed for an hour. I'll let you  Heck, even if your clock didn't turn back, go back to bed for an hour !
After watching the video though, you might want to watch the Village People singing In the Navy  Who's your favourite sailor ⛵
I am not going to ask anyone about your thoughts of time changes, as this is a family blog and some of you really told me your feelings back in March
So instead, I want to know about your reading habits. Or if you come to read or just come to enjoy the conversation of the community in general? Do you like reading the anthologies since it was so topical all of last month? Do you like to read stories from new authors, or do you stick to your true and tested groups of Authors and Poets? Do you read by genre pretty exclusively? Is there something you would like to see more of in stories that would get you reading more?
This is not a sanctioned GA survey, but just me being curious on what you enjoy to read.
If I'm honest, I'll admit that 16 years ago, I was in a pretty serious car accident and my head got knocked around a fair bit. All of my mental faculties seem to be okay (some will argue this point vehemently (stick that in your Word of the Day, @Myr)  )), but I found reading like I did before more challenging. Of late though I've started reading a bit more. I'm hoping this is a promise that I can keep to myself . I think I like most genres and I also like to sneak in and look at some new authors. I should read more Poetry, but like a lot of us, we shy away from it as we were never really influenced to read it growing up. Keep that in mind, Steve! I do like romance to be honest. When two guys fall in love, usually with something that is preventing them from just going for it, it captures my heart.
Enough about me, I could go on for hours
Another short week with the GA News Blog this week. Let's check it out.
Monday, Cia engages a conversation with a delusional Penguin that is really just a North Atlantic Puffin :
Tuesday, Myr has put away his speedo for the year but he did enough Deep Diving to cover the winter months:
Thursday was a great day! @Valkyrie wrapped up all the GREAT Anthologies entered this year. Don't be shy, leave a comment on which was your favourite. Also a huge thank you goes out to the Proof Team. I volunteered for the Poof Team, but Valkyrie had 3 questions that I could not answer so she turned me down . A really huge round of applause 👏 for Valkyrie! Also to @Cia and @Myr for all the background support and artwork. All together, the authors and poets, the proof team, the Admins, but also the readers, you made this years Anthology a success! Congrats all
Oh, before we jump to the Words of the Day, I'm going to throw in another question to you all. I live in a closed condo building and I think there might be 3 or 4 kids under the age of 16 living in the building. So it saves me money on buying candy for Halloween. I don't need any for myself . One consistent thing I heard over Friday and Saturday was how many kids that different people I know around the city visited their houses? A lot said it is the first year that seemed like it was pre-covid. They said they also have a lot of 12 - 15 y/o's in pretty amazing cosplay characters that they felt deserved the candy even at their age. So how was it in your neck of the woods. Slower than usual, about the same, or busier and how much so?
Oh, and congratulations to @Dodger for winning the World Series   https://gayauthors.org/profile/15631-dodger/

Now back to the Words of the Day:

    Weekly Wrap Up
Sadly I have to admit, Monday was the first day of the fall that it happened  As much as it pains me to admit, I'm going have to use the 4 letter s-word...
It was a beautiful weekend but around 9 AM things went downhill. By the next day it was gone, but still not the warmest it has been.
Now I learned back when I was a wee child, if you are at a loss for words you could always bring up, 'How's the weather?', or 'What to you think of this weather?' Because it is late at night even in my neck of the woods, I'm just going to ask. How's the weather?
We had another abbreviated week of the GA News Blog, so let's get it done.
Monday, Cia introduced us to a new Signature Feature for the month:
Tuesday, Myr brought us a look at another genre. How many days to Valentine's Day?
Wednesdays after a Signature Author Feature, we always have an Excerpt:
That led us into the Grand Finale of the Week! I think  that this was the final week of all the great stories that so many Authors put together for you all in the 2024 Anthology, In Too Deep:

Now if you follow the Word of the Day, I found that Myr was just downright sneaky this week starting on Tuesday and ending on Thursday. He took words that at first glance look normal. But add in a letter or rearrange the letters, and then I don't have a clue what he is talking about. How about you?
psychologist, altercation, inveterate, urbane, circumlocution, fidelity, egocentric

    Weekly Wrap Up
Okay, how was your week? Mine kind of sucked, but there is not much to do about it.
So here is what I thought I'd ask. We always hear to control what is in your control and to not fret over for what you don't control. The way I read this is there is a lot of things in the world out of our control, but when negative things happen that are not in our control, it is what you do after that you can make the decisions and control the eventual outcome
Now if I didn't lose you already with the overuse of the word control, my question is do you fret over what isn't in your control, or do you think things through rationally. I know there is different severities of this. Experiencing a rain shower while out hiking in the mountains without a jacket, is not as bad as getting a life altering diagnosis.
So are you the calm, cool, cucumber? Or are you a reactive mess of a person  I think I am a reactive mess right away, but usually doesn't take too long  to morph into the cucumber . The only issue is sometimes my reactive mess needs an apology depending how far off the deep end I go.
Now that I got that all out, shall we look at our much reduced Weekly Wrap Up, which is the plan when we have the Anthologies coming out 🎉
Tuesday, Myr kicked off the week with a Deep Dive into the genre that I really, really should read more of :
Then on Thursday, Valkyrie came back with the Week 2 of the Yearly Anthology. How are you doing on your reading?
Believe it or not, that is it  My job is done.

Oops, maybe not  Still need to recap the Words of the Day. If you are a doctor, was your specialty featured this week?
neurologist, oncologist, pulmonologist, rheumatologist, hematologist, urologist, otolaryngologist

    Weekly Wrap Up
So what did you get up to this week?
Once again, my heart goes out to everyone trying to recover from Helene, and now a whole bunch more people dealing with the aftermath of Milton
Now not sure if you know, but there is a lot of exploding going on the surface of the sun. What that means is that the northern US and all of Canada and even Great Britain and Scandinavia are having some pretty spectacular viewing of the Northern Lights (Not to be confused with Steve ). Everyday I see pictures on the local news here, that you can see them even under the glare of a city of 1.4 million people's lights.
Last night I decided to that I wasn't going to miss them, supposed to be a clear night. So I started out around 9 and saw nothing. Trying different areas around the city, nothing. So my logic kicked in and said maybe if I drive closer to the Arctic I will have better chances of seeing them. Right?  Nope, drove 2 hours north and pulled off the highway at multiple times to see nothing but the stars on a nice clear night. Didn't even see the comet that we were supposed to see. So got home around 3:30 this morning
Now for all the Canadians out there, Happy Thanksgiving!  I had always been of the belief that we had ours earlier than the US because our harvest was earlier. To my shock  I found out that back after WW1 we had created Armistice Day like a lot of other countries for November 11th.  In 1931, our parliament felt that to have Thanksgiving and the newly renamed Remembrance Day together in November, were too close together, and that Rememberance Day should be the sole focus in the month of November. So they moved Thanksgiving to October and now it is only November 11th recognized as a holiday in the month. I never knew  I bet very very very few Canadians even know this either! See, the Weekly Wrap Up is informational

Now for the big things going on at the site  It only comes once a year nowadays  We had our initial release of stories for the 2024 Anthology. See the link below for a lot of reading to keep you entertained .
We generally wind down the GA News Blog on Anthology weeks, so here is what we had before the big day on Thursday.
Monday, Cia was in with the October Can't Stop Reading feature:
Tuesday, Myr got in his last deep dive before he has to start wearing a wetsuit as it gets too cold:
Then onto Thursday, the day we get to start reading the offerings of some of our great Authors here on the site for the Anthology:

So that was it, but isn't it enough  for the GA News Blog? No? There also were the 7 Words of the Day leaning to the medical field:
pediatrician, allergist, cardiologist, complaintologist, dermatologist, endocrinologist, gastroenterologist

    Weekly Wrap Up
    Well it finally happened
After several nights of the temperature dipping down to just above 0C/32F, and me going to bed a bit hotish () in the evening and waking up shivering, I think I got the start of the first cold of the season. Well, not a full blown one. Today was a day that was focused on wearing a couple of layers of sweatpants and sweatshirts and some wool socks. Also my eyeballs are floating a bit with all the water I have drank. The throat isn't that sore anymore, so I might get to bed at a decent hour tonight and hopefully write it off as a one day cold
Has anyone else been visited by the cold fairy yet this fall? Or am I the only one to live in a climate that it is getting this cold?
I read an article which says my city gets about 20cm/7.87" of snow on average in October😮. More so than any other city in Canada except for Yellowknife in the North West Territories. Which I think is above the Arctic Circle 🥶.
Now I know some of you live in Florida or California, or on the Mediterranean. Some of you might be in South Africa or Australia where it is spring. But if you are not in the tropics , what is the outlook for your October? Do you usually see any snow at all, or is it more a November or even a December thing?
Rather than natter on forever about my woe is me, sob story of my cold and how cold it is getting out, let's move on to happier things  like wrapping up the week of the GA News Blog.
I do want to put in a special call out to all those on the American East Coast that had Hurricane Helene devastate your homes and communities and those in Nepal with the unprecedented flooding  . Or family members. No matter how bad I think I have it, it is not in the same category as others. We all are thinking about you and hoping that slowly things start to get better, hour by hour, and day by day.
On Monday, it worked out perfect this week! Cia was able to put the CSR Discussion Day on the last day of September:
Tuesday, Myr dropped in and counted up the likes and reactions to bring us a Deep Dive into Non-Fiction:
Thursday, since the entry deadline of the 2024 yearly anthology has past, Valkyrie took the time to look ahead and gave us a road map of upcoming events:

Well like the weather, it looks like Myr's mood turned as he started posting words again that I don't know  Here is the recap of the Words of the Day:
complacency, misanthrope, dilettantism, banal, osteopathy, ambivert, ascetic

    Weekly Wrap Up
Depending on where you live, how many days do you have to get in your entries for the In Too Deep annual Anthology? Calling on Poets, Authors, and even readers to get them in. So how many days do you have to the end of October 1st?
    1 days
    2 days
Oh crap, still not too late but pushing it
I am just back from a relaxing week up in the mountains at the lake where I was having a nice, quiet birthday . I'm refreshed and rejuvenated, got a hair cut today as well. I was going to go for a pedicure, but I only have 1 foot and I only get strange looks when I ask for a 1/2 price deal on a pedicure . Now it is back to work on Monday for my hell 3 months until after Christmas . Wish me luck!
Now let us gather around a campfire🔥, roast some marshmallow, or maybe make up some smores and look back at the week already in the books.
Monday, we gave Cia the day off. At least I think we did You never really know with Cia .
Tuesday, the big guy was in with another perfect 10.0 score on a Deep Dive on Mystery. Was anyone other than me surprised not to see Myr diving in the Summer Paris Olympics. I heard he looks great in a Speedo :
Thursday, Valkyrie gave us all 1 last blog reminder about the upcoming deadline for getting in Anthology entries:
Finally on Friday, Cole was back with a couple of crafty prompts :

Here are the Words of the Day for the past week:

    Weekly Wrap Up
First thing first, I really need anyone who is thinking to enter our yearly Anthology, please see Val's Thursday blog and if you fingers haven't started typing, get them going!
As you read this, I am indisposed. Read into that what you want . But I'm up by a lake in the mountains looking at the colours change for fall.
So next week in the northern hemisphere, we flip into fall, autumn, whatever you like to call it. Down under the equator, they are about to hit spring
What is your favourite season? My favourite is winter. I like a nice cold, crisp day with a fresh blanket of snow on the ground. That is me though. What I do not care for is the cold, and wind combined. Give me -40 C/F and no wind and no bother at all. If is -1C or 30F, and wind blowing, no thank you .
So, what is your favourite season? Not only that, but more importantly, why is it your favourite? I'm curious if it is summer and you want to wear just your bikini or speedo, or is it fall to watch summer evolve to winter. Will it be spring to see the new growth, or just the warming of the weather. I'm sure we will have a diverse response to this question. So let us know what your season is. Curious if we have anyone that lives near the equator that really don't have seasons I think  If so, what season do you think you would like to have?
As for this week's Wrap Up, let's turn back the clock and take a look.
Monday, we had a new Signature Feature:

    Weekly Wrap Up
There went a Saturday without really realizing it
Saturday AM I thought I would see if there was anything interesting on Prime. I haven't been on in a while. After the other week of me saying I haven't finished some of the streaming shows that I have watched past seasons of, I saw that Season 2 of the The Rings of Power was out and streaming. The thing is, it was so long ago that I can't remember the Season 1 happenings  Don't worry, @Krista is keep a collection of retirement home pamphlets handy for when it is time for me to check in.  So what could I do but rewatch Season 1? That is what happened to my Saturday.
I remember back in Grade 4, our Language Arts teacher, that's what they called it in elementary and junior high school, not until high school did you call it English, started reading us the Hobbit. I was enthralled  It was my favourite time of the day. After having it read to us I had to reread it and own a copy of my own. We lived on an air force base way in the middle of nowhere, so not really a place to find a bookstore. I think we had a library, but I was in elementary and their might have been one in the junior high, or most likely the high school. So on one trip to the big city 4 hours away, I convinced my parents to stop at a bookstore in a mall. Once going in, I looked for the Hobbit, but didn't know where to look. A lady helped me and my dad find it and Dad looked at the price and said no way. I'm sure I was much to old to have a tantrum at my age, but I do believe I did and all ended well when we walked out with me owning the Hobbit.
Jump ahead to Grade 6, I had been saving my allowance and was able to buy the Lord of the Rings trilogy next. They didn't have box sets or 3 separate books, it was just one massive paperback book! Not sure how long it took me to read, but I'm sure not too long.
So what am I rambling about this week?  What is the earliest book you remember reading on your own and did you fall in love with the characters and do you still love to go back to the story even today?
Oh I lied, the first book was probably a Scholastic order of How the Grinch Stole Christmas with a record to accompany it  Not sure what a record is, Google it

    So tell me your story!
Now onto the Wrap Up. Monday I got the pleasure to post a review by our super Review Team for the month of September:
Tuesday, Myr must have been looking ahead to Friday the 13th as he featured the Horror genre this week:
Thursday was a HUGE reminder that October 1st is rapidly coming, so get in your Anthology soon!
Friday, we had Mr. Cole grace us with two new Prompts to choose from:

Oh, by the way, are you enjoying the Words of The Day since even someone like me can understand them?
festive, gratified, beaming, melancholy, antidisestablishmentarianism, incomprehensibilities, uncharacteristically

Well we are in the second week of September already, so you know what that means. Another great review! This one by @chris191070

This story is hard hitting, gritty and heartbreaking.
We follow Matt, a young man who is taken from the street and sold. He suddenly finds himself in a situation that no one would want to endure. During his time he does meet some people who have a little bit of compassion.
We meet Andrew, an author who is interested in human trafficking. He is granted an interview with these monsters, as he researches his next book. This meeting leaves Andrew badly shaken.
Whilst there Andrew and Matt get a fleeting glimpse of each other.
You will need to read the story to the end to discover how these lives come together, in a very challenging and satisfying end.

    Weekly Wrap Up
I know there is a thread going on what you are listening to now, and probably watching too! I haven't been watching or streaming too much of late. Maybe it has to do with the summer. I have Apple, Disney+, Netflix, Prime and Crave which is kind of like HBO for Canada. I got into a couple of series over the past few years and I've tried to get back into them, and just can't. Sweet Tooth and Cobra Kai.
So I'm curious, what series have you watched over the  past few years and dropped them like a hot potato? Or do you force yourself to watch everything to the bitter end?
I do have some that I do still watch to the end, but more and more that is the minority.
Why do I ask these questions?  Well I like to hear what everyone else has on these thoughts? So even it you are someone new, or someone old (not mentioning any names  ), speak up and join the conversation.
Even if you want to comment on a story that is publishing or finished, join in on the conversation as well.
Now we shall look back to the week past with the GA News Blog.
Tuesday we had the Deep Dive into the General Fiction genre:

Well that is it   ! We had a light week. Next week is the first week of September, so we will be much more busy then. I promise.

Since Myr was the one that came up with a blog, we can also thank him for all the Words of the Day:
elated, exultant, mirthful, radiant, gleeful, overjoyed, jovial

    Weekly Wrap Up
    O Tannenbaum, o Tannenbaum,
    du verkörperst unsern Weinachtstraum!
    O Tannenbaum, o Tannenbaum,
    wie treu sind deine Blätter!
Du grünst nicht nur zur Sommerzeit,
Nein auch im Winter, wenn es schneit.
    O Tannenbaum, o Tannenbaum,
    wie treu sind deine Blätter!
Yes folks! It is that time of the year when the Weekly Wrap Up falls on the 25th of the month . That means I get to remind you all that you have exactly 4 months to plan, buy and send me my Christmas Present  You all are the best
Well along the same lines, have any of you started your Christmas Shopping yet (  <-- me glaring at you if you have)? Just kidding, I know there are people that are more prepared to me, so wondering whom. I have to admit that with online shopping that I really need to get my act together and consider what to buy and buy it now. Nothing like getting a sold out message.
I usually buy myself a self Christmas present . Do you? If so, I want to hear what you are getting yourself, or what maybe you are hoping someone will give you. Greed might be one of the deadly sins, but who is counting .
Now lets see what the GA Blog brought us all this week!
Monday, Cia introduced us to the Signature Author Feature:
Tuesday, Myr did a deep dive into the Fantasy leagues:
Wednesday, Cia was back again with the the Signature Author Feature Excerpt!
