    Weekly Wrap Up
'Twas the night before Christmas, when all though the GA house
not a creature was stirring, not even a bear, penguin, wolf, eagle, zombie, tiger, cat, or Cindy Lou Who.
The stockings were hung by Steve's dryer with care.
In hopes that St. Myr soon would be there
The GA community were nestled all snug in their beds,
while visions of naked men, or women, danced in their heads.
And Valkyrie in her 'kerchief, and I in my cap,
had just settled our brains for a long winter's nap
    (in separate beds, of course)
When out on the roof there arose such a clatter,
I sprung from my bed to see what was the matter.
Away to the surveillance app I flew like a flash,
opened it up on my iPhone, and selected the roof camera, recording it in case I could make me some cash.
The moon on the breast (eww) of the new fallen snow
gave the lustre of midday to objects below
when, what to my wondering eyes should appear,
but a miniature Mustang and sixteen tiny volunteers
With a little mid-age driver, so lively and quick,
I knew in a moment it must be St. @Myr
More rapid than eagles (unless it is Talonrider), his coursers they came,
and he whistled and shouted them by name:
    "Now @Cia! Now @Graeme!
    Now, @Reader1810! and @drpaladin!
    On, @Aditus! On, @Valkyrie!
(when did she sneak out of bed?)
    On, @Cole Matthews! On, @TalonRider!
    On, @Timothy M.! On, @spike382!
    On, @Parker Owens! On, @W_L!
    On, @Comicality!, On, @astone2292!
    On, @rec! On, @wildone!
(wait, I didn't sign up to pull St. Myr around the world!)
To the top of the porch!
To the top of the wall!
    Now dash away! Dash away!
    Dash away all!"
As dry leaves that before the wild hurricane fly,
when they meet with an obstacle, mount to the sky
so up to the dwelling-top the coursers they flew
with a sleigh full of stories, and St. Myr too.
And then, in a twinkling, I heard on the roof
the prancing and pawing of each little volunteer.
As I closed out of the app and was turning around,
down the dryer vent St. Myr came with a bound.
    (who has a chimney anymore?)
He was dressed all in faux fur, from his head to his foot,
(no real fur as it might upset some members)
and his clothes were all tarnished with lint and a sock.
A bundle of stories he had flung on his back,
and looked like an owner just opening his pack.
His eyes--how they twinkled! His dimples, how gay!
His cheeks were like roses, his nose like a sun ray.
(needed something that rhymed with gay)
His droll little mouth was drawn up like a bow,
and the day old growth was as white as the snow.
The stump of a pipe he held tight in his teeth,
and the smoke it encircled his head like a wreath.
(not sure what he was smoking in his pipe)
He had a broad face and a little beer belly,
that shook when he laughed, like a bowl of jelly.
He was sturdy and strong, a right jolly middle-aged elf
and I laughed when I saw him, in spite of myself
A wink of his eye and a twist of his head
soon gave me to know I had nothing to dread.
(did I call him chubby! I might have something to dread)
He spoke not a word, but went straight to his work,
and filled the stockings with stories, and turned with a jerk.

And laying a finger aside of his nose,
and giving a nod, up the dryer vent he rose.
He sprang to his Mustang, to his team he gave a whistle,
And away they all flew like the down of a thistle.
But I heard him exclaim, 'ere he drove out of sight,
"Happy Christmas to all at GA, and to all a good night!"

Now for something that we really need some help from all our budding and seasoned authors, especially those that were fans of Carlos Hazday's vast collection of prose.
December 27th at 11:59 PM EST is the deadline to submit your tribute stories for Carlos Hazday.
All the information is here. It is not too late to start and submit.
On another note, there is snow on the ground this morning, but we are supposed to get possibly up to 0 today with sun and -1 tomorrow. I've cancelled my trip to the North Pole and the jolly old fellow has a reprieve once again this year!

    Weekly Wrap Up
On the 8th day of Christmas, by true love gave to meeeeee, divorce papers!!! 😮
Well, that isn't how the song goes  But if any of you do get divorce papers on Sunday, I am so sorry
To tell the truth, all I can remember from that song is the five golden rings, two turtle doves and a penguin in a pear tree  This shall lead into the question of the week! Hmmm, do I have a question of the week every week? So rather than just asking what your favourite Christmas song is, I want to know what is your favourite Christmas song that you know word for word  Jingle Bells only counts if you know all the verses  If you feel up to it, sing out the words to your song below in your reply. FYI, I won't be putting anything down. I'm a one or two verse kinda guy
We had another very busy week here at the GA News Blog. I think I will be asking @Myr for a Christmas bonus this year  A bonus of 2% of $0 is what? Any accountants out there that can let me know how much I will get?
Monday. Well Monday I messed up  I tried to replace @Timothy M. and do the layout of this months Review Team's Feature Story. I failed. I did apologize to @Mancunian for misspelling one of the main characters name in the blog title and story title as well. Shameful. At least @spike382 gave a great review. Make sure you check this story out. I read it before doing the blog and it is a really nice short story:
Tuesday, @Myr took over the blog and guess what? He did it right :
Thursday was 18th episode of the Author Guess Who by @astone2292. I got my guess in, kind of, do you?
Looks like on Friday, our resident penguin, @Valkyrie, took the prompt team another step towards the holidays:
Finally on Saturday, we got our weekly treat from @Comicality with another Writing Article:

Here is the words of the week :
easement, neptunium, retrench, indefatigable, machete, perishable, mewl

    Weekly Wrap Up
It is starting to look a lot like Christmas
I may have mentioned we had a big dump of snow before Halloween, but that was all melted off since the first week of November. Then we have had temps in the mid to high teens without a drop of moisture until last Thursday. We got a good dumping of snow. I would like my Christmas to be white, but not looking like it as the temp will be in the mid teens (celcius) again next week. Maybe I will have to make a trip to the North Pole
In the meantime, before I leave and need to have Cia cover for me as I make my way up north, shall we wrap up this past week?
Yesterday, Comsie finished off the week with a great Writing Article:
Friday we had the Prompt gang at it again:
Thursday we heard from Val on the upcoming 2024 Writing Events:
Wednesday was the 1st one in December. That meant Aaron brought an all new AAA 3.0:

Tuesday, Myr went all softy on us and did the Romance Deep Dive
Monday, Cia kicked it all off with the announcement of the December CSR:

Now here is the Words of The Day in reverse order too!
shuttlecock, phlegmatic, oxide, meteoroid, unbidden, midriff, liven

    Weekly Wrap Up
Its starting to feel a lot like Christmas...
Well, I hope you all are getting in the festive spirit  Maybe not so much myself. The past two weeks and been nightmarishly busy at work and I don't know if I'm coming or a going.
Hoping maybe tomorrow will get me out of my bah humbug mood, as we go out to the forests and find Christmas Trees! I won't be getting one as there isn't enough in room my condo, but at least it is the first Christmassy thingy I'll be doing
So what happened last week. Well a lot to tell the truth. So shall we wrap it all up?
Monday was the November CSR Discussion Day. If you didn't get a chance to get in there, well do it and.. discuss
Tuesday, Myr decided to go poetic on us and presented us all with a Poetry Deep Dive:
I will have to go back and look at my guesses, well maybe not as I definitely got it all wrong, but Aaron revealed the Author Guess Who?:
Friday it was our Prompt Team that got locked and loaded in getting back to a weekly schedule (how do you say it, sked-ju-all, or shed-ju-all?) with some new prompts for all of us:
Saturday brought the week to a close with a new Writing Tips feature from Comsie:

Now what about the Words of the Day?
conifer, castigate, mystical, croquet, muslin, pleurisy, horrendous

    Announcements
Continuing on with our week of thanks, the Admin team wants to call out the amazing volunteers on our Moderation Team!! When most of us think of moderation they think it is all about discipline. We all try really hard to educate first.
Then in limited cases, we do have to let some know what they are doing, how it is harming the site, and what we need to do to avoid it in the future. Due to the actions by our Mods, this is about always the only occurrence due to their willingness to help everyone they need to reach out to. Needless to say these thankless volunteers are the ones who are monitoring the site, the ones when needed to reach out to others, and also contributing daily to the site's operation.
Unfortunately spam is something that tries to infect our site at every turn. With our Moderators doing such a good job, most spammers are caught before the members ever see it. The great thing is that all of our members are right there reporting spam to the SMT as well. A lot of decisions, those not needing moderation like spamming, everyone acts as a team to contribute to coming up with a solution. To say everyone agrees would be not true. Through their professional attitude taken , an agreeable action froward can be quickly reached. I say professional, but yet they are all volunteers rising up to the task.
Join me in thanking the people behind the scenes a lot of the time helping to keep GA running daily.

    @Reader1810
    @drpaladin
    @TalonRider

As a small token of our appreciation, we have created and put this badge on all of their profiles:

    Weekly Wrap Up
    Wow, what a busy week
Not only personally but also here at the GA News Blog!
I won't bore you with my week although it was Tony the Tiger, Greeeeeeeeeeat! But shall we start off will US Thanksgiving week in the US of A. I'm sure with everything going on in our world's, day to day, and week to week, there is a few things that if we look at our own lives and leave out the rest, there is a lot to be thankful for. Although I'm not 'merican, I'm personally glad that I have GA to come to day to day if I want and see what is going on with people that I honestly do want to learn a bit more about. I'm happy for my family, friends and on most days, glad that I have a job. Realizing others may not have that, it makes you think of even the smallest things can make a difference.
So if you are 'mercian or not, tell me at least one thing that you're thankful for this year? Let's get a long chain of answers on this week's question!
Now, we did have a really busy week this week at the GA News Blog, as mentioned, so let's get the show on the road.
Monday was a great day to kick off the week with a review from our newest member from the Review Team, W_L:
Tuesday, our fearless leader put out a blog on a Deep Dive:
Then it was a surprise on Wednesday for our Review Team to be thanked:
Thursday was quite a exciting day. Not only for a new writing event, but also for reflection on what we call could do for Carlos Hazday:
Now if you are thinking to yourselves that this is enough in one week, you are wrong
So not including Sunday, we had six days in this week. That meant six blogs including this great article from Comicality. It is kind of scary :

What would a wrap up be without looking back on all the Words of the Day we had:
muskmelon, mastiff, ravish, dichotomy, nocturnal, pejoration, spermatozoon

    Upcoming Writing Events
Long May You Run - A tribute to Carlos Hazday Entries due on Dec. 27, 2023. Details are all here.

Has it been a month already?
So we always put out a calling for anyone that wants to volunteer for various groups on site to let us know. This past month we had @W_L answer that call and joined up with our Review Team. So let's check out his first entry!

The Case of the Short, Short Prince
    by Geron Kees

    Word Count: 372,908
For a serious person, it offers an escape into a magical world where you can get lost in the adventure plots. Its spiraling plots and characters reminded me of Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim or Dragon Age, furthering my escape into this world of fantasy.
Above the quaint nostalgia, the story inspires with its well-paced fantasy plot, I think what kept me reading was the introduction of new fantasy elements throughout the tale. Despite new magical tools and new backstories that are integrated with the plot, Geron Kees did not overwhelm readers with exposition which is a hallmark of the fantasy genre.
The other benefit in Geron Kees' writing style is that the romance has already been established with Jamie and Garvin at the start, so we don't have to spend time getting to the gay lovers' stuff. Reducing need for romance development saved room for plot pacing.
I found the story captivating and engaging with its fantasy premise. Fighting magical creatures, going on side-quests, and meeting new characters were seamless. While some plot elements are not original for fantasy readers, i.e. magic rings and nether realms, it is a well-written story with various threads tying together.
I recommend this story for those seeking a fun fantasy story that is fun with its plots and engages readers with its concepts.

    Weekly Wrap Up
Hey! Last week we changed the clocks in a lot of places, who changed the days this week?
Up here in Western Canada, yesterday was Remembrance Day were we remember all the veterans and peacekeepers that all served in our forces and some that died doing so. It is actually a holiday I believe in all Commonwealth countries, but others do a bigger ceremony on other holidays. When I say Western Canada, I know we have it as a stat holiday. This means this weekend has me mixed up. We are taking Monday off in lieu of yesterday.
What it all comes down too, I thought today was Saturday for some reason. Now before Val and Krista start digging out brochures looking for places to put for the rest of my years, I did remember when I woke up this morning. So things eventually will get done
Now that my blurb is over, lets get down to what we all are here for, the Weekly Wrap Up!
Monday was Cia's opportunity to come knocking  and gave us the November CSR Feature. Did you check it out?
Tuesday the door was left open for Myr to do a Historical Deep Dive:
First Wednesday of the Month, that meant Aaron brought us another edition of Ask An Author 3.0:
Whoooooooo are you? Who, who, who, who. Aaron has published his second edition of the revised Author Guess Who. Who do you think it is?
Hey, on Friday we got back to our Prompt again. I'm hoping that you can get some ideas on putting the pen back to the paper:
And what a busy week it has been. On Saturday, Comicality brought us a writing article to complete all 7 days this week with a GA News Blog feature!

Words of the Day this past week were:
motley, doff, inconceivable, parable, sot, lattice, peddle

    Weekly Wrap Up
I guess it is the time of year for our bi-annual bitch fest 😏You know what I’m talking about. We are falling back on Saturday night, Sunday morning. So if you forgot to set the clocks back, you can continue reading this wrap up, or go back to bed 😛
If you live somewhere that doesn’t have daylight savings time, considerable yourself lucky 🍀
So how many kids did you have come to your house for Halloween 🧙? I had zero. But I live in a secured condo building with very few if any kids living there. But I am proud of myself, I did not buy anything candy or chip related, telling myself just in case, knowing full well I’m buying them for me. Sound familiar?

Well those first two topics I do believe are North Amican centric. Why not toss in the Day Of The Dead. For any one with some spanish in them, is this worldwide or mainly Mexico? I learned about the two day holiday this year, and I’m surprised all of North America hasn’t embraced it.

    Okay Steve, move along…
This was our final Anthology 2023 week for Leap of Faith  So this week we will be back to our normal broadcasting schedule.
Cia gathered us all around for our CSR Discussion Day:
Then it was time for Valkyrie to wrap up the anthology. Let me thank all our authors, our readers for their likes and comments, our Proof Team, Val for organizing it all and Myr , Cia for all their know how. Make sure to read this blog also for the surprise entry:
Comicality joined us on Saturday with an all new article:

Here are the Word of the Day:

    Weekly Wrap Up
Just a reminder to all, you have less than 2 months to get your favourite GA staff member their Christmas present.  Maybe I shouldn't say that, I will be like Harry Potter on Christmas morning receiving presents from his Aunt and Uncle and lovely cousin Dudley! One year a 50 pence coin which is 60 cents USD, a toothpick and finally a single tissue . Believe it or not, that is my first HP reference in my life
Now if you couldn't wait for Christmas, Val had an early present for you again this week. More Anthology stories!!!
With Halloween on Tuesday, I'm curious what your plans are? Anything? You going to hand out candy, are you maybe a teacher or someone that will dress up for work that day? Will you get dressed at all that day   😮 That could be really scary . I'm watching a Junior A hockey game on TV in the background and a banana just ran across the screen
What happened this week, Steve? In a bold hint to tell me to move along...
Steve did the weekly update on Sunday:
Tuesday, Myr did a Paranormal Deep Dive:
The only other GA Blog this week was our Anthology story announcement. This week is kind of a vacation for me

So shall we go off to see what words Myr stupefied us with this week?
quaff, quartz, remedial, flounce, polymath, blare, dupe

    Weekly Wrap Up
We are now into our first week of the Leap of Faith Anthology. Curious if you have read 1, 2 or more stories already? Do you have a favourite? Did once touch you in a different way (get you minds out of the gutter)? Did any surprise you?
Just in case you didn't know or missed an odd mention  of the anthology , it stared posting this past Thursday with a BANG! and the first set of stories will now have the limelight for 4 more days. Then this upcoming Thursday, another set will be revealed  Since we went to one story anthology per year, make sure you get your fix in now.
One thing about anthologies, we here at the GA News Blog like to feature the entries for the main focus week to week. You will still see the occasional blog, like this one, but we do give way on others to the keep the eyes there! Now by a show of hands, how many want me to take a four week break  ? I promise I won't look at this blog again in case you all hurt my feelings 😭.
So lets see what we did get out this week!
Monday, the Review Team did their thing and guess what? They did a review :
Tuesday, Myr got the scuba gear out for this featured deep dive into a genre 🤿:
Then Thursday was the day we have been waiting for, the launch of the Leap of Faith Anthology :

Now one thing that we still had 7 days of, was the Words of the Day:

Well where does one start a review on a story that is so well written, that deals with topics of an upsetting nature.
This is a story that will take many readers out of there comfort zone as it deals with abuse, suicide and mental illness.
The story itself deals with the highs and lows of marriage and raising a dysfunctional family, all whilst dealing with effects of mental illness and child abuse.
This is such a hard hitting story, that deals with difficcult situations that may have affected many of us.
All I can say is have a large box of tissues when you read this as it will have you in tears.

    Weekly Wrap Up
Happy real Thanksgiving  At least to my Canadian friends.
You know what that means here, another day off for a long weekend or if you work on Monday, probably will be time and a half  Makes me thankful I live in Canada
This long weekend I find myself dog sitting at the dog's house. Not as in the dog house  but at the house the dog's live with their human friends. They wanted to put them in a kennel as they headed out of town for a celebration of life, but shall we say the doggies are senior citizens and unfortunately they may not be with us for very much longer . So rather than the stress of a kennel, I agreed to come up and baby sit the old guys
Moving on to GA stuff, I think I can tell you without @Valkyrie chasing me around with a pitchfork, that we had really good turnout to the 2023 Leap of Faith Anthology. Our prompt team is working around the clock to get on last read on them and back to the authors for any changes, I would expect you all will start seeing them in the short future
There was a lot of other stuffs going on at the GA News Blog, so shall we do what the name of this blog is, and wrap it all up?
Cia was by on Monday with an all new CSR Feature for this month. Check it out:
Tuesday, @Myr put on his speedo again before he did another deep dive into another genre:
Wednesday, can you believe it is the first Tuesday of October , Aaron brought us another great chapter of Ask An Author:
We gave Val the week off, the slacker  She is much too busy with the anthology in reality .
This meant next up was our Friday announcement of some new prompts:
Then today, or maybe yesterday depending on your time zone, Comicality came calling :

Here are our Words of the Week:
mammoth, hoarfrost, heifer, colander, cistern, bonsai, herbalist

    Weekly Wrap Up
    Hey 😀
    Hey 😊
Okay I now I have got my Heartstopper Season 2 out of me 😜
It is time for me use the oft not used word of remiss, which I would be guilty of if I didn’t remind y’all, or is it ya’ll, that you have 2 WEEKS TO GET YOUR LEAP OF FAITH ANTHOLOGY ENTRY IN!!! See the directions below.
Now that that PSA is done, let’s look at what happened at the GA News Blog this past week
Monday, everyone’s favourite day of the week. It was even better to wake up to the Review Team, this time @Timothy M., to brought us double the normal of reviews. Sort of like doubling the amount of sugar in your first cup of coffee  ☕
Tuesday was the fist day of a new blog, Genre in Depth. Check out this premier addition:
We took a day off on Wednesday to prepare for Val’s Anthology reminder:
Friday, Val sneaked in the weekly Prompts by the hair of her chiny chin chin  😮 Not that I’m saying Val has hair on her chin
Saturday, looks like Comicality went all fancy with the word Chic in his title
Just in case you missed reading this blog, you can catch up here
Enough of this Tomfoolery! I’ll let one of our regular participants tell you where that word came from. Think of it as Steve’s Word of the Day. Now for the real ones:
spoilsport, whirlybird, deft, bushmaster, stanza, rotund, coffeecake

Wow! Did you notice the title? Instead of story, it is stories this month  Timothy did two great reviews from Carlos this month. Although Timothy will most likely blatantly deny it, I'm sure this is my birthday present since it is coming up  Enjoy!

    Inked
    by Carlos Hazday
    Reviewer: Timothy M.
    Status: Complete
    Word Count: 9,824
Writing a blog review, which features on 9/11, would tempt me to review Mark Arbor’s CAP story 9/11. But I already did that back in 2017. Instead, I would like to pay tribute to Carlos Hazday, who passed away in June 2023, by reviewing a Premium story with several of his favorite parts: hunky men, awesome tattoos, heroes in service, and a love of the sea, as well as another story, which is assessible to all readers.
In the story Inked we meet Banner Hoyt, who is a Coast Guard in Alaska. His colleagues and mates are what all gay men would want in their straight friends. Cool and secure in their own masculinity, they may tease Banner and his friend Marc, a former coastie, about getting laid (or not), but when it counts, they have their backs. I particularly liked this opinion expressed by Banner (and Carlos):
“He claimed the day more men felt secure enough in their sexuality would herald the end of homophobia.”
It is a story without epic drama, just a group of friends dealing with the situations they face, whether it be during rescues or while having a beer. They are calm, intelligent, and determined, just the kind of people I like. Give the story a try, and tell me what you think of Banner’s decision at the end, and whether you also wish Carlos was here to write another Banner story.

    Beach Bottles
    by Carlos Hazday
    Reviewer: Timothy M.
    Status: Complete
    Word Count: 3,031
This story continues the theme of love of the sea, as well as caring for the environment. There are four short stories collected in a series called Earth Day Stories, and Beach Bottles is the second. Liebe is a little girl whose two fathers give her lots of love - and I bet her name (German for Love) is quite deliberate, They also bring her up to enjoy the sea which is practically outside heir front door. One of them is a fire fighter, so we also have the protect and serve theme covered. And although the text doesn't say so, I'm sure both guys are hunky, too.   This story is for everyone, who would like to have fond smiles on their faces, as we indulge in the dream of a world where families with two fathers are normal and accepted, and love is love. I know Carlos worked hard to promote such rights and equality.

    Weekly Wrap Up
Did you put away your whites? I boxed up my white jeans, my white joggers, my white cargos, my white shorts, my white undies, my white socks, my white shirts (dress, polo, t, and others), my white sneakers, and white jackets and even my white belt .
Now what am I talking about ? When I was growing up, the saying was you could not wear white after Labour Day. Where that came from, I have no clue. But being the fashionista that I am, I don't do any of it . Sort of a rebel with a cause .
Up here in Canadia, after Labour Day is kind of the official end of summer , not meteorological but still the end to us. So we turn our sights to fall, autumn, or whatever else you call it. I would say we look forward to the leaves changing but it has been so dry in my neck of the woods, that started happening weeks ago. Now I'm sure I will have that odd snowball tossed in my direction, but snow is one of my favourite weather events. The way everything is blanketed in white, less people out on the roads and every sound sounds crisper in the cooler air. Shall we have betting pool to see who can guess the first snowfall in my city? Let's say $1.00 CDN or what equates to $0.23 USD  to the winner.
Enough promotion of gambling on the site. We don't need the state gaming commissions looking into my blog !
On Monday, Cia brought us the new CSR for the month of September. Go check it out and git to reading:
Wednesday, Aaron took the reigns for the latest feature of Ask An Author 3.0:
Thursday, Aaron was back with the big reveal on Author Guess Who. I didn't even know who it was  :
Friday, Cole took us down memory lane in the prompts, going to a fair:
Then to wrap the whole gosh darn week up, Comicality was in with another insightful article:

Words of the Day, some I didn't even know how to spell the first one, and obviously didn't know what it meant

Whew it was warm out today. Even with lots and lots of sunscreen, I'm a little red .
Luckily when I got home around dinner time, I sat down and turned on Netflix and much to my surprise season 3 had appeared on a series that I really liked the first two seasons of in the spring, Ragnarok. I'm not sure if I plugged it here before or not , but if not, it is about Viking mythology, in todays setting 😮

    Weekly Wrap Up
Nothing to complain about age this week
I wanted to discuss something, but this blog would be then directed to the Pit
    Let's talk about unicorns 🦄
I'm a big Tolkien fan and I have no difficulty after reading the stories and believing that all the species that are in Middle Earth, might have at one time been actually on earth. Like maybe prior to the dinosaurs and Middle Earth was destroyed due to some calamity too. Or, what if we finally find life on another planet and it is actually Middle Earth  Not sure if the Hobbits or Elves and Dwarves would have mastered space travel though. Heck, they still get around by horse, horse and buggy or on foot  So what do I know about unicorns, sadly not too much. So why don't you inform me all you know about the mysterious animal. Do you believe they ever existed on earth? I read one story by @Cia that ended with a fair bit of unicorn action (not like that, you pervs  ) but haven't read many other stories of them. Maybe recommend a story or two

Speaking of unicorns, do you think Comsie roamed the earth 15 years ago with them?  I don't think so  Check out his unicorn free blog:

So perhaps you need a late summer thriller? A plotline thick with twists and unexpected turns? Something to binge-read on a week’s vacation under the sun?  There’s no need for a trip to the airport news seller. Instead, just tee up Inherited, by GA Author Lomax61.
Told through the eyes of a young English man, Gabriel Redbrick, who is grieving the loss of his wealthy and well-connected lover, Albert Callico in a minibus accident. The story unfolds as he learns he has inherited a disused villa in Italy. At the same time, Gabriel finds an unusual message left to him by Albert. Events propel him to leave London and his adventures accelerate.
If you have read any of the many fictional or autobiographical works set in Italy published over the past decade, you will easily be able to picture the Italian locations Lomax takes us to. But don't be fooled by the charm and sunny beauty of the Italian scene, because there is more to the story than olive trees, surprising food and excellent wine. Before long, Gabriel finds himself embroiled in a perilous mystery which must be unspooled, lest he meet an untimely end.
Lomax isn’t content to present us with shadowy characters, odd clues to an occluded past and an ever-present sense of danger. You could find that on the pulp-fiction rack anywhere. What you find with Inherited are well-drawn and vividly written members of a wide cast – who chill, who reassure, and who smolder on the page. While readers of Clancy or Ludlum or Fleming will recognize some themes and scene types portrayed in this story, Lomax61 writes them in a refreshing and highly engaging way.
At the end, he is able to leave the reader satisfied, having unmasked mysteries that kept us on the edge of our beach chairs throughout. This is a highly recommended story, one which you ought to read now before it’s optioned for the silver screen as next summer’s blockbuster.  That way, you can sip your mojito around the pool and tell your friends the film was nice, but the book was better.
