    Weekly Wrap Up
I will tell you off the start, I had some fun this week
I had the pleasure of stepping in to do the Ask An Author for Aaron this week. It was kind of nice to give him a much needed week off. Still not sure the reason for his absence, but make sure you check out the blog and hazard a guess .
So what is new and exciting in my life this week? Well a whole lot of nothing. I'm in what I call the 2 weeks of hell at my real life job that happens every year. Luckily that is done and over with now . What about you working folk, do things get  busier at this time of year? I work backstage retail so yeah I guess it would be fair to say I'm running around like a chicken with his head cut off. No offense to any chickens reading this .
We had a pretty productive week here at the GA New Blog, so here is a rundown of every day on the site in case you forgot to be here a day or two .
Monday, Cia presented our CSR for the month of December. Not sure is it is seasonal related but I might have to check it out based on the title alone.

Tuesday, it was the aforementioned Ask An Author 3.0:
Thursday, Val went way back into the Anthology Vault and found a theme of Carpe Diem:
Friday, what would Friday be without some prompts. This week Aditus went with, what can I say, Magical!
Then to finish up the week, we had Part Deux of Comicality articles about cheating  Remember, don't cheat kids

Sunday through Saturday, Myr gave us a word to ponder and pontificate over if to use in our daily vocabulary
carpe diem,  rutilant, saccade, bilk,  uxorial,  haptic, lambent
Well that concludes are weekly wrap up...
No wait, we still have more
I'll post where we are in the month of December as well as our yearly goals for the next 3-4 weeks:

With the weather changing with people looking to more indoor activities up north, why not consider a home renovation? Aditius from the Review Team did up a great review for the November Featured Story which may or may not have a home renovation in it. Enjoy!

    The Purple Door

November is the perfect month for a ghost story when meadows are shrouded in fog in the morning and it gets colder and darker, at least here in the Northern hemisphere, don’t you think?
Greg and his partner had it all planned out: as their retirement project they would buy and restore an abandoned house. After losing David, Greg decides to go on with the plan and honor David’s dream. He buys an old Victorian including an overgrown garden and a purple door.
Are you already imagining how the story could go? Especially when I tell you David once told Greg “When you dream, look for a purple door. When you open it, I'll be there.”
Well, I totally guessed wrong and I’m happy about it. Valkyrie told a much better story than I did in my mind.
Now find a comfortable spot, you’ll be able to see the house with your mind’s eye, and meet the people and the ghost while Greg works on the house.

    Author Interviews
    OMG, where is Aaron
If he lived up here, he might have got hit by a snow plow, but down where he lives that is not very likely. Or is it?
Someone told me that he was stocking a shelf when the whole aisle collapsed on him and he was by himself. Then they say he saw all the spilt liquor and couldn't bare the idea of all the good spirits going to waste. So injured on the floor he started slurping up everything he could get. Luckily he was lying at a low point of the store floor so all the split booze flowed to him. Now I guess he has a wee bit of a hangover
Actually personally I think he went AWOL. I'm not sure who told him he could take the month off! Oh, it was me
Okay, for the truth none of the above is true except getting the month off.
So we have a different AAA 3.0 that was sent in this month in where one of our anonymously question suppliers came forward with some questions for none other than @astone2292. Rather than have him appear full of himself (appearances are everything) I decided I would take over the blog, just this once to ask him the questions.

    1) What interested you in writing stories about shifters?
I write shapeshifter stories as an escape, of sorts. Living with a basic, daily routine (wake-up, work, sleep, repeat), the paranormal genre gives me something life can’t. The ability to transform between human and animal is a concept that would provide one such freedom, even if the animal is odd. A wolf can run in a forest. A mole can dig in the dirt. A bird can sit on power lines and shamelessly defecate on passing strangers. A Golden Retriever can walk around and be called a good boy/girl. Shall I continue?

    2) Since you have already hinted about crossover stories, what pros and cons did you consider as you deliberated writing a crossover?
The one crossover I performed was not an easy decision. Combining the In the Shadows series and Cernunnos into the same universe had its issues. I had to create a reason for the differences between the shifters and their differing abilities. As time passed, I desperately wanted certain characters to have the opportunity to meet. I can only imagine my readers’ delight if Cyrus ever met Cyn, or if Kaplan met Keiran. The cons… Well, my primary concern was if my In the Shadows readers hadn’t enjoyed Cernunnos (or vice versa). I hate spoilers more than the next person, so potentially causing someone to be exposed to who met who, or who did what unspeakable action was a heavy detractor in the decision.

    3) What things do you consider when creating a new universe? By this, I mean considerations between canon and personal ideas about how things work.
Going back to my answer to the first question, I want to escape. What could I do to alter life around me to make it more interesting yet believable? I think of a concept, flesh it out, and either stick it in the “to-write” pile or toss it if it’s not beefy enough. Sometimes, I’m met with a stunning image or hypothetical situation through conversation, and my imagination dives into the rabbit hole.
Putting a story in consideration, I evaluate whether I have the attention span to commit to the idea, and how passionate I am about the concept. If I know it hasn’t been done before on GA, I’m gunning for it. Two of my projects are going to be unique: Cow-man, being an anthropomophic fantasy/western, and a Pokémon story, a first for GA’s fan-fiction archive.

    4) Can you explain how you develop a character from the beginning to the end of a story? Here I’m thinking about the minor character, Sarah, from the In the Shadows series and her arc in Death in the Shadows?
Planning, planning… Nah, I can’t say that. I wrote In the Shadows while flying by the seat of my britches. Did I have plans for Sarah back in the first book? Oh, hell no! As much as I’d like to say, “Oh, I just made a bunch of side characters that don’t matter so I can use them when I need to,” but that would be a lie. That’s just the miraculous way it turned out. Being a young and inexperienced writer is both a blessing and a curse. Even now, it’s what I continue to do: write the story, incorporate some minor characters, and when a plot point starts to unfurl, I think whether to give one of the side peeps a spotlight or not.

    5) Anything you can add about character development of main characters would also be appreciated.
With main characters, I’ve kept them either relatable (Vincent) or true to their nature (Cyn). I find embodying a MC to be the best. Using Cyn as an example, what can, would, or should he do? He’s a deer shapeshifter, and hasn’t been around humanity and their modern ways in his upbrining. I… ate… that… up! Cuisine, transportation, technology. The poor guy sat on a mattress for the first time and thought he was on a cloud. My point is to dive in with a character. Make them stand out and be individuals, but be cautious. It’s easy in the supernatural and paranormal genres to make an all-mighty character without weakness. With Vincent, I did my best. He is a mage with several abilities, even before he became a lycan. What was his weakness? A lack of fighting experience and a morality that prevented him from killing in a ‘kill-or-be killed’ situation.

Well that is it for this month! If you didn't enjoy this out of control train about to go off the tracks, don't worry it probably won't happen again.
Aaron will be back next month, but only if you continue to send in some great questions like the ones above! Just click on his handle here @astone2292 and then click on the Message button to submit them to him. Easy peasy

    Weekly Wrap Up
It is past my bedtime... I think.
So does anyone want to come over and fix my painting job at my condo? I've never painted a house or such in my life, and everyone seems to have suggestions, after I've f'uped and it has gone to shit. Well, I'm done the most difficult wall and pulled the tape off around the door frames and unfortunately took off in some spots a couple of layers of paint too!
Krista suggest to bribe someone with cookies, that most men will paint for cookies. So if I bake up a batch of my mom's secrete recipe of chocolate chip cookie if you will come over and fix and paint the rest of my place
Well since I don't have anyone knocking on my door yet, let's move onto what happened here this week at the GA New Blog.
Monday was a interesting CSR Discussion Day with @Dodger.  You thought you knew a guy and then you find out he is ambidextrous
We all took a bit of a break whilst Myr was busy with the Words of the Day for the week. How many did you know?
vindicate, parvenu, wimple, crepuscular, deracinate, scarify, languid
After doing the wrap up tonight, I'm a bit languid 💤
Based on that, I'm done for the night  Just kidding, can't leave you hanging.
On Thursday Val was in to let us know about the upcoming 2023 Anthology selection process.
Friday, Cole came in guns a blazing and brought us a couple of new prompts:
Saturday, Comicality swooped in with what might me a multi week posting on Cheating  Who would cheat???
We finished off the month of November and now into December. So let's look at November stats, December and also the 2022 stats!

Wow, that is a lot of stats!

    Weekly Wrap Up
I hope my 'merican friends and their families of origin or found  had a super Thanksgiving holiday. Did you eat too much? I think TG is one of the mandatory 'pass' days that you get to eat what you want, how much you want, and for as long as you want. It is surprising that with New Year's resolutions that people make those far stretched promises to themselves to stop smoking, go to the gym, stop drinking alcohol and such, that there is nothing for Thanksgiving. Maybe there should be promises to go to the gym to combat all the food  at the very least!
I'm not sure about the rest of the world, but up in Canada boxing day (Dec. 26) was our biggest sale day where retailers cleared out their old stock at ridiculous prices. Now the American Black Friday has replaced that, closely followed by Cyber Monday. So were you able to participate, or was things just a little too tight this year?  I had my 12 year old TV start to pixelate pretty bad so I was able to take advantage of the sales to get a new, bigger TV. Before Krista can make any accusations, NO it is not for watching porn .
We had a pretty good week here at the GA New Blog. Let's jump right in and see what all was out there for you, just in case you missed something.
I know I like to upload the neat profile signatures that Cia does up every month for our Siggy of the Month. Ever thought of doing it?

Wednesday we were looking at an excerpt from our siggy story of the month:
On Friday Val came up with a few interesting prompts. Any takers?
I think one of the tricker things to write and not lose your readers is switching to and from a flashback. Comsie brought some suggestions on how to do that:
7 days, 7 new words! Thanks Myr!!
swan song, immure, glower, feign, tontine, regnant, jape
26 down and 4 to go!

    Weekly Wrap Up
    Has anyone seen Valkyrie?
    Oh, there she is

So the folks in Western New York seem to have got over a meter/yard of snow over the past few days!  Here, we haven't got rid of the snow from Nov. 3 yet  Saw pictures from Nova Scotia where the doggies were playing on the green grass! I'm sure you Floridians can make me jealous in just one picture! Do you hear me? No more than one picture  First come, first served!
Now not to often I encourage bad words to be used here, but I really want to know what you think about that four letter word, s**w? Do you like it, do you hate it? Have you ever seen it? Have you ever felt it? I'd say have you ever tasted it but that would take this discussion downhill a little too quickly  If you do get the white stuff, do you have any yet? You hear me down in Australia and New Zealand, how much snow have you got in the past month?
Now I know we are all busy people with getting ready for the holidays, picking out my Christmas present, so shall we get on with one of the busiest weeks on the GA News Blog in a long while? 6 days out of 7 we came your way. So in case you missed anything, here is a nice, tidy, compact, recap
Monday was Aditus from our Review Team bringing us a Featured Story to check out:
Then on Tuesday, we had another big announcement! That is two in two weeks  Make sure you drop by and send Dodger your congratulations:
Skip a day and we are onto Anthology Thursdays. Valkyrie before she got snowed under, gave us an update of what is going on for next year's anthologies:
Now if you like the unusual, and I mean that in a nice way  , for prompts. Check out this weeks Prompts from Aditus:
Finally on Saturday, Comicality dropped by with another Writing Article. More and more of you are commenting and it is interesting reading your take on things as well as his.
We are about 2/3 of the way through November, so are we 2/3 of the way through our monthly goals?
Last but definitely not least, Myr was around for 7 new Words of the Day. Check them all out!
tyro, offal, preternatural, adumbrate, zowie, inveigle, georgic

    Weekly Wrap Up
In case you are wondering why we have two blogs up featured at once, don't continually hit your refresh button to try to make one disappear  Or am I the only one that would do that? I remember back in the olden days, when a author would generally post a new chapter on the same day of the week around the same time of day, I'd sit there constantly hitting refresh until I got the new chapter  This was back in the eFic days long before even the idea of post dating
Now where was I? Oh, so due to a malfunction at the junction, we never got Comicality's Blog on Saturday up until around 5 PM in the NA Eastern time zone  So to ensure you all get the chance to check out his much followed blog on Saturdays, we will leave it up with the Wrap up on Sunday.
So did you do anything for what some call Armistice Day, Veterans Day, or Remembrance Day? I took some holidays the past week but had to work most days anyways , but I did go to a Remembrance Day ceremony here in town. Always such a sobering but very meaningful event.
Well here is what I know 10's of you are looking forward to , the Wrap Up in full!
Monday was an introduction to an all new C(an't)S(top)R(eading) Feature for November! @Dodger is the one we are reading this month:
Tuesday was a HUGE day at GA. Anytime our Author Promotion Team uploads a blog, you know a deserving author is getting a promotion. Make sure you pop in and if you haven't, give @kbois a congratulatory message:
If it is Thursday, our Anthology Queen  (that is non gender emoticon ) @Valkyrie took us back to 2010. I was not as old as I am now, back then . I was in my mid 20's
On Friday, @Cole Matthewsbrought us some interesting prompts to explore. Just in case you don't remember what they were , click here:
Saturday, but only part of Saturday we had @Comicality's writing article blog up. So to make sure you check it out today, or even tomorrow , here is the link:
For the heck of it, let's put in the links for this week's Words of the Day  Less typing for me when I can just post a link  Come on, there was six words and even a hyphenated word this week
We are definitely off to a fast start on our November goals:

Friday, Val was back again and presented a couple of unique Writing Prompts:

Myr was always near a computer
fatidic, ghoul, muckrake, threnody, florilegium, maelstrom, exculpate
The calendar turned and put us one month closer to the end of 2022. Here is how we did in the month of October. Well down everyone!!

    Weekly Wrap Up
Sooooo, that should kick off the mood of this weekend  Not really sure what is more scary, the song or the facial expressions of Bobby Pickett!!
I had a certain European food and chocolate company send me a whole bunch of Halloween candy mini bars due to my current job! I have boxes and boxes of mini chocolate bars, not the best for a lifelong diabetic  I know that Krista is expecting some but I think the UPS fee to send them to Kentucky might be a bit excessive. So what should I do with them? When I was a kid, I went out trick or treating and after Mom and Dad took me to the local children's hospital where I donated it. They in turn would get me some more diabetic friendly treats. Somehow over the years, hospitals seem to have asked not to have chocolate dropped off, I wonder why
So what should I do with all this chocolate? I have Monday to decide so I'm sure you will all have very helpful suggestions
A bit slower week at the blog this week
Our first blog after the Weekly Wrap was actually on Thursday !
Valkyrie in addition to surveying the site about future anthologies, enlisted the help of @CassieQ on some tips on Writing for a Theme:
Then on Friday, our trusty Prompt Team marked a Prompt-aversary  Actually, they went back to pay homage to the man who was our prompt guru for years, @comicfan
Saturday, Comicality wrote a interesting topic, one that piques your interest just by the title:
No matter how many blogs are posted, Myr is logging in 7 days a week to give us new Words of the Day:
proclivity, smorgasbord, efficacious, orchidaceous, per contra, garble, homogeneous
Well if you want to help us meet our October goals, you have Sunday and Monday. Do our authors have 9 new stories and 82 new chapters? Think of it as nine stories of nine chapters and one has a prologue  Just kidding, we all appreciate every single word you share with us all  You're the best!!!!

    Weekly Wrap Up
They say a picture is worth a thousand words  This is what it looked like in my next of the woods after 3 days of temps in the mid 20's C, (77F) which were records, to dropping down below 0 overnight (32 F) and getting around 15 cm (6 inches) of snow  Just so you know, even though I'm happy to see some much needed moisture and the first snow fall of the year, I blame this 100% on @Krista   She wished this on me for like the past month and a half.
Now rumour has it snow has been spotted below the Mason Dickson Line already  So curious, have you had any snow? The ways things are I guess it might be appropriate to ask everyone, no matter where you are
This week we got into a regular groove again and had some missed weekly blogs make their returns.
Monday, Cia was in to introduce us to this gem of a story in our Signature Feature:
Wednesday she was back with an excerpt from the story to entice you into taking a look.
Wednesday was Val's time to talk to us all about anthology themes. She also opened up a couple of polls to gauge opinions out there.
Friday, Additus brought us back to the weekly prompts. Are you thinking it is time to give one a go?
Saturday was Comsie's day to bring a new writing article to help everyone out.
Each morning, depending on where you live  we got a new word of the day:
pleiad, panoply, caravansary, juncture, exonerate, extenuate, cozen
With one week to go, let's make a valiant charge to get our reading stats up there for the month of October:

    Weekly Wrap Up
Well a Happy Thanksgiving to all our Canadian friends. Not sure if you all have plans to be with someone(s) for the day or for dinner, but I really hope you all do . I'll be heading out to friends place this year to join his entire family to enjoy a turkey and so much more
I was thinking about Halloween, since it is my job in real life , is like less that 3 weeks away . So have you put any thoughts into what you are going to dress up as? That is if you dress up. Why not have some fun this year and no matter what happens, you can do at least do a little dress up for Halloween. Maybe something as easy as some cat ears, pin a tigers tail to you butt, so many possibilities. So tell us your big, or little, plans for the 31st.
Another quieter week at the GA news blog but what we had, we had well worth the quality
Monday, Cia dropped on by with a brand new CSR for the month of October:
Wednesday was the first one of the month and Aaron brought us something new to us all and frankly I never would have thought of doing . Did you check it out? Also, make sure you send him just 3 simple, easy questions about a story you read here. He will get the answers you never knew you could have answered!

So the past 5 weeks, we have had 4 weeks of a fabulous anthology stories under the theme of Anniversary. So Cia recapped everything all up into a nicely wrapped up blog entry. Curiosity is killing me, did you read all the entries?
Seven days this past week, Myr was in with a new word of the day:
youthquake, Cassandra, kapellmeister, thwart, aubade, unabashed, crux
Now we are just barely into 1 week of October, but lets see where we are in our goals. Maybe some residual effects from the anthologies?

    Weekly Wrap Up
Well it has happened  October has darkened our doors  This means the seasons are a changing. Have you got any frost on your pumpkin, or any other parts yet  ?
It is also sad in the sense that this week concluded week 4 of the Anthology - Anniversary. Please, if you haven't had a chance yet, make sure you thank your Authors, Poets and Editors and Beta's for making this one of the best, not only in participation, but in content on the sites 20 year history. Also time for a HUGE shoutout to our Anthology Team who have been tirelessly working to get everything set up and ready to go. I'm hoping that all of you get some rest and relaxation and have a sense of accomplishment to take you well into the future!!!
Now by the clock on my wall, it is 3:43 AM  So I think I'm going to get right into the Wrap Up. Heck, I even see @TalonRider is up to do his daily post in LPW!
Monday was the CSR Discussion Day brought to you by the letter "C" (for Cia).
Oh my, I'm so overworked this week , looks like the letter 'C' then brought us the final entries for the Anthology on the Thursday!
Sort of like Old Faithful, we had Myr spewing out new Words of the Day, Sunday through Saturday:
bludge, demean, fervid, obdurate, fata morgana, gist, infantilize
With September in the past now, let's see where we ended up on out goals. Pretty darn good in my books  All made it in all but one category and we juuuuuuust missed out on that one. Take a collective bow everyone

    Weekly Wrap Up
3 down and 1 to go!! We are getting there! Before you start to feel withdrawals from not having any more new anthology entries, rest assured that there was enough of them for the Anthology - Anniversary that there will be a fourth and final release next Thursday for all of you
What else is new you ask (okay, maybe you didn't )  Well Thursday was not only the release of round 3, but it also was the kick off off the Fall Equinox up here in the Northern Hemisphere and the Spring Equinox in the South. Did you happen to see any Druids walking down the street around sunrise on Thursday? Seemingly to keep with the turn of the season, I have now caught my first full blown cold of the fall  I thought it was just going to be a sniffle or two but waking up this morning I had a present that I was definitely not wanting. Fluids, fluids, fluids they say. No beer for me today, but a couple of liters of water instead.
I was wondering to myself, Self, what else happened at the GA News Blog this week? Well if you asked yourselves the same question, thank gosh you have visited here for a nice wrapped up and easily referenced place to get it all.
Monday, it was time to kick off with an all new Signature Author for the next month:
If that was not enough to get you to check out our featured Siggy, how about a little excerpt of theirs on Wednesday:
Finally on Thursday, we had the 3rd release of 4 for the Anthology - Anniversary:
We did also have a featured word every day of the past week too:
sawbones, viva voce, procrastinate, paroxysm, bathetic, froufrou, chilblain
With only a week to go, are we going to make all our goals this month?

    Weekly Wrap Up
I would be remiss if I didn't mention at the start of the Wrap Up about the 2nd round of the GA Anniversary Anthology 😮 It is more a fear of @Valkyrie. Even without her threats and promises of a world of hurt, I would have done it anyways
So about those stories, why not give us an update on how you are doing? Did you get through all of Round 1. Have you got through Round 2 already ? Have you liked and left a chapter comment or story comment? I know our authors really appreciate everyone's feedback. With this being the first anthology in a while, let's leave our authors with good memories of what you thought of what they did. How the characters and stories made you feel!
On the personal front, not too much to report here  So I'll save you anything more about me
Even though I didn't know what day of the week it was, I did manage to get the Review Teams latest and greatest review up on Monday:
Then on Tuesday, did you drop by for some cake and drinks? Supposedly Myr had the hard stuff hidden for just himself  Luckily he did up the following blog post before he cracked the bottle  . 20 Years, WOW!!!

Then with great fan fair, we got the second round of the 2022 Anthology: Anniversary:
On Friday and Saturday we gave the Review Team and Comicality the day off again. They will both be back soon!
Now what about the Word's of the Day? Did we get 7 of them?
bevy, torpor, eidectic, esoteric, prognosticate, obeisance, pellucid
Now with all these new stories, how the heck are we doing on our goals? Wow, we have surpassed our goal for reviews

    Weekly Wrap Up
Well, well, well. Shall we wrap this week up like a pig in a blanket .
So question for all of you, have you partaken in any of the great first releases of the GA 20th Anniversary Anthology?  How many have you read, 1, 2, or all of them? What do you think so far?
I've personally had a busy week, as on Thursday night I was going to get into bed with my iPad and start reading. Much to my surprise out my condo's bedroom window 😮

Okay Steve, that is an excuse for Thursday night...
Then I came home from work on Friday afternoon, to find that all my shelving and hanger racks in my closet had decided to come crashing down . So today I tried on every piece of clothing and ended up donating 3/5th of my wardrobe . Tonight was a football game. But, I will try to get into them tomorrow for sure!
We did have other things going on here at the GA News Blog that we shouldn't minimize or forget.
Monday, Cia kicked off the week with an all new CSR for the month of September:
Then on Wednesday, Aaron threw caution to the wind and got all up in another author's business and personal space, but once again it resulted in another great AAA 3.0:
Then the big day came on Thursday, and it was with great pleasure the Anthology Team was able to start releasing the 2022 Anniversary Anthology!!
We did take a break on the Prompt and Writing Articles this week, so the focus will be on the Anthologies.
Then one thing that didn't change, was that there was 7 new Words of the Day:
zydeco, ethereal, festoon, amok, primordial, trepidation, canaille
Now I think this month there will be a lot of reading, a lot of reviews, chapter comments, and story comments. Let's push for a blue month

    Weekly Wrap Up
    I'm so excited
    I just can't hide it
I think I'm about to lose control and I think like it
So September 1st came and went and I am so looking forward to our upcoming Anthology stories!! I know some are done and some are in the hands of our excellent proof team. I guess we can all now wait anxiously to see the first round of entries
I'm up late, early, whatever time in your neck of the woods, so I need to get this all wrapped up and get to bed
Monday Cia was back with the CSR Discussion Day:
I feel like I should put in an Europe song here  Val was back with the exciting news about the anthology!
Really, I don't know how Val had time for all these blogs  I thought she be attached to the TV watching the Continental getting ready for the Masters 🐎
And if you didn't think we offered up enough this week, well we had one more to go on Saturday:

Now Myr was a busy at work churning out some new Words of the Day:
epitaph, scupper, stellar, ultima, huckster, sophomoric, schwarmerei
Sadly the month of August has past and that means we are on our way to autumn and then winter in the northern hemisphere. Why don't we check in on how our goals went for the month of August:

    Weekly Wrap Up
    Hey all, what's up?
First off, thank you Cia for stepping in last week and getting the majority of the Weekly Wrap Up done for me
Not sure if you noticed the latest announcement, but Myr, Cia and the programmer are all working triple overtime to try to fix the caching issues. Some significant improvements have happened over the past week with a few more patches coming this week. Hopefully they can nip this in the bud soon, as I know they are all trying so hard to get it done. You also are having great patience too!
So after the high heat we have had the past couple of weeks, we had a thunderstorm around noon today with a lot of lightning roll in, and I was caught in it Wouldn't be the first time I've been caught, but at least I didn't get hit by lightning... this time  Yes, that fact probably explains a lot about me . Well as I look outside right now 8 hours later, still raining with the occasional clap of thunder.
Now for what happened here at the GA News Blog for the week. A little bit quieter around here for a bit of a change.Believe it or not,
Valkyrie was the first to get a blog up for the Anthology. Just remember, you have 4 days to get your anthology into the review team!
Friday, Aditus was here to represent the Prompt Team with a couple of new ideas to prod you for the week  Just the name of the prompts piqued my interest:
Comicality held the final position with another great Writing Article to help everyone out that picks up a pen and paper so to speak:
With everything going on, Myr was still setting his alarm clock early and posting the Word of the Day:
caduceus, slew, flounder, rectilinear, variegated, argosy, decussate
With the month coming to a close why don't we put a one last big push to get all our stats as close to the100% levels:

    Anthologies, Writing Challenges, and Contests

    Stay tuned to this spot.
Currently I cannot do the weekly update as I have a caching issue. I'm lucky to get this far. I will try again in the morning
Edit to add: I'm swooping in because I was online doing homework. I can see what Mr. Wildone cannot for some reason, so I thought I'd help out! Thank you all for being patient with this horrible bug; Myr is working diligently to track it down every day since that last IP update. It's not an easy one, and he's swamped! ~ Cia
Monday's feature started off with a surprise feature for A.C. Benus.

Wednesday readers enjoyed an excerpt from Campfires and Starlight.

Thursday Valkyrie brought us some frequently asked questions about the Anthology-not much time left to submit your story so get it done now!!
Friday Cole Matthews mixed it up! How? Check it out.
    Saturday Comsie discussed *ahem* intimacy
Let's check out all the words we learned this week thanks to Myr's Word of the Day feature!

    Weekly Wrap Up
We are nearly half way through the summer and you know what that means for North American people... Back to Skewl!!
I guess that is dependent on if you are a student of some level or if you are a working stiff like me  Believe it or not, up to a few years ago I was under the impression that the primary and secondary education all over the continent was basically from the beginning of September until the following June. How wrong I was . From what I understand, some of the southern US they head back to school around this time of year and go to around May and then get out. I guess when you have grown up your entire life doing something one way, you forget easily that others might not do it the same way!
So here is my question since we have a worldwide audience, what is basically the school year in your next of the woods? If you don't want to say you live in Mississippi (I love spelling that state), you can say the deep south of the US. If there is a difference between primary and secondary, let us know too. I'm sure the people that live south of us in the other hemisphere have a totally different schedule than the North. What about Germany, Sweden, UK, France or elsewhere in Europe? Do you live in SE Asia or maybe the Caribbean? What about you?
We had a great week here at the GA News Blog this week. Anytime we have a author promotion it is an exciting time!!
Monday our Review Team, @spike382 in particular did a great new review. Hope you get a chance to check the story out:
Tuesday was the big day I was alluding to. Make sure you check out @northie's promotion to Signature and drop off a congrats:
On Thursday, our Anthology Coordinator, @Valkyrie came in and gave us some tips on the difference of proofreading versus editing.
Please note you have to September 1st to get in this years special anniversary Anthology entries!!
Friday we had @Aditus present a 'short winded' edition of prompts. Check them out:
Finally on Saturday, we were all attracted to a great new writing article by @Comicality:
Although we did have some caching issues here at GA over the week, know that Myr is diligently working to get this resolved, he also was busy providing us with a Word of the Day:

Here on GA, I am always on the lookout for story content from authors I haven’t read before.  As an aside, I’m personally looking for content outside the paranormal thriller/romance genre that has gained immense popularity on the site in the last couple of years.  So just recently I ran across this story by Ajbt2001, who joined our little community just a few years ago, but already has a number of finished stories published here.
In a New Family Unit, two single gay fathers with teenage gay sons are living in a duplex together.  Sheer proximity, and attraction binds all of them together.  The two fathers Sam and Taylor quickly begin dating.  Their sons, Cillian and Devon, who also share an attraction,  opt for getting to know each other and becoming friends first.
Moving from the opening, the story is very much in the title a newly forming family unit of these four living together.  However, it isn’t all sunshine and rainbows.  The story does have its conflicts, with some surprising past connections, and darkness from the past resurfacing in the present.
I will say, it’s not entirely a perfect story, as a lot it feels like too much too soon.  The two boys, who are 14, often times feel like much younger characters.  Also, each character could use a more distinctive voice and personality.
That all being said, it’s a fun little tale of romance and the journey of building a new family.  It’s an easy read at only nine chapters, and it’s bound to put a smile on your face.

    Weekly Wrap Up
I'm back from the wilds of the Rockies  Had a great time with my nephews for the 7 days. Lots of mountain biking, took a gondola to the top of Mount Sulphur and then walked the 400 steps up to and back from the summit. Hit the Banff Hot Springs. Another day swam in an old quarry that has been filled with water and turned into a park. We even had a bit of a issue with a black bear on the last day of camping Kind of wish we had a little blue one to deal with instead.
Kind of looking forward to getting back to work so I can relax . What about you all, I know some you have taken some holidays already and some have more to come? Whatcha going to do? That is if the heat won't cancel any of your plans .
I want to thank @Myr and @Cia for combining together to get the wrap up done in stages.
This past Monday, Cia brought us our August CSR Feature. Don't think I've read this one so I will put it in my August to do list
Wednesday Aaron asked, and you delivered!! Enjoy this month's episode of AAA 3.0:
Thursdays was time to get your engines started if not already and press the pedal to the metal to get your Anthologies in. @Valkyrie gave @Carlos Hazday's view on how to market your Anthology:
Friday, Val was back with some interesting prompts. The second one might be challenging to someone like me who likes to talk on, and on, and on, and on...
Saturday, we had another interesting writing tip article from Comicality on Weight and Impact:
I know last week that Cia brought you the final week of July, so I thought I would put up how we are doing on our yearly goal too!!

Did you check out ALL the Words of the Day this week? If not, make sure you go into them now.

    Weekly Wrap Up
Whew, getting this in by the hair of my chinny chin chin
Even though I'm fair haired (in the summer my hair turns strawberry blond), I know I burn, and I do everything possible besides wearing a snowsuit, touque, and ski goggles in 30 C weather, but I still am burnt to hell tonight  I mean, about a hour before I went out I took a shower and rubbed in a generous supply of SPF 30 Sport and then waited 10 mins and sprayed on SPF 50 Sport. Went down to my vehicle 5-10 mins later and put on some Deep Woods Off, ( think I saw a mosquito flying off with a small dog the other day ), and thought I was prepared for everything! Had a ball cap on and polarized sunglasses. Looking at myself in the mirror tonight the whole face and neck and ears are red except the eyes and top of the forehead. I now have a great farmers burn happening on the arms, and my one leg is red from the bottom of my shorts to the tip of my toes. Well the parts that were not covered by the sandal.  Maybe I should wear my florescent green prosthetic leg tomorrow to see what kind of reactions I will get with the contrasting colours  I took a cooler shower this evening so I'm not in too much pain at the moment, but not really looking forward to bed .
How about you? I know everyone should be protecting themselves from the evil sun and not getting burnt or ever really... getting tanned. Are you a natural tanner, are you a burner? What SPF do you wear, if you wear it?
Now onto the Wrap Up. We had a hot week not only outside, but here as well!
Monday was one of my favourite days of the month. I get to take the graphic and put it into my signature. Nice to support with a call out to our Classic Authors:
That left Wednesday for the Classic Author Excerpt. Did it motivate you to read the story?
Thursday, Valkyrie looked back at a sometimes oft overlooked category of Anthologies, but are very much a part of the site:
Cole Matthews stepped in this week for the Prompt Team to give us some real summer themed ideas!
Saturday was a bit of different blog, but one that I found really interesting! Make sure you check out our sites summary of stats:
Then there were 7 new words brought to you by Myr in the Word of the Day:
parabolic, doch-an-dorris, aggregate, bivouac, tempestuous, bolide, farouche
For our monthly stats, looks like we might have a fairly good July:

    Weekly Wrap Up
Middle of July, so what should we talk about? What the heck, why not weather! I'm curious how things are shaping up in your neck of the woods as far as the weather goes.
In my hometown, it is Stampede  week, and mother nature has so far cooperated. I don't think in the past 8 days we have had any rain. Temps have been around 30 C (86 F). This is too hot in my humble opinion. I know some areas of the world are having record breaking temps like Europe and elsewhere, so my heart goes out to them. Now for all of you in the southern States and other hot climates, don't you be calling us wimps over the 30 C weather, unless you want to come up here in -40 C/F weather and see how you make out where everyone up here continues on more or less like normal
Well enough of the weather channel, let's move on to the GA News Channel
Monday, the Review Team gave us a great new story to either read right away, or put onto our reading list:
We took a 2 day break until Wednesday this week, where Valkyrie asked us about the 781 published Anthologies on site
Friday, Aditus was in to represent the Prompt Team with another 2 new prompts for us all:
Saturday was the conclusion of our broadcasting week and Comsie stopped by with a new Writing Article:
I think I missed the words of the day last week in the wrap up  Bad Steve, Bad  Well here is this weeks:
eradicate, envisage, orgulous, steganography, saguaro, cacography, lollygag

A werewolf called Rover, a cat who can fly (among other things), a confused vampire, a spiteful faery, and a testy human are all confined in the same house and trying to learn to live together. A strange mix (and a strange story).
After reading this story description I was instantly interested. I mean what could go wrong with this, right? So much or so little.
At first, I had a little difficulty getting into the story, probably because of how beautifully the cold was described, and I hate the cold.
I sway as I pass through the gate and catch myself on one of the ornate iron gateposts. It is so cold it burns. I examine the delicate tracery of featherlike frost flakes on the dull black metal. It is too pretty to comprehend. I touch the patterns and the heat in my fingers is barely enough to melt the frost. For a time, I am frozen, caught in the frosted winter night...
The housemates’ getting-to-know-each-other phase is as temperamental as expected. Fur, fists, and words fly.
The main characters drove me crazy, to be honest. I loved Sar even when I was pulling my hair out at his stupidity, or for being so very vampy. (In his words: I’m used to being an arrogant thoughtless bastard.) And Glory? We all know cats are multi-personality beings, well he is pushing the limits.
The side characters are well-developed, so much so that you’ll want to know more, and want some of them to have their own story. Cuddly Rover, Fougue the calming influence, Pixie the not-so-nasty faery. Or Valentine the villain.
It’s good there’s more. Pussy Cat Pussy Cat
I found Damphir about the same time I found GA. I realized later how much of this story stayed with me, since even today I remember parts of it.
I hope you’ll love it as much as I do.
    Heed the warning.

    Well howdy partner
Yes, it is that time of the year that all the cowboys and cowgurls come out of the woodwork in Calgary for the annual Stampede. So far after 2 days things are huge! No restrictions and everyone seems to be having a good time! I've been down at the grounds for the past two nights and there is lots to see, people to see and people to do Oops, did I say that out load
So for public engagement, if you are willing to reveal where you live; city, town or country, is there one BIG party, festival, or event that brings in tons of people and you have a great time at? I'm thinking the Texas State Fair, the PNE an CNE in Vancouver and Toronto. Octoberfest in Germany. So what about where you are? What time of the year should I come for a visit . If anyone suggests Buffalo in January for the Bill's run for the Superbowl, I think I will skip  (I think I will hear about this one ).
We had a busy week here at the GA Blog  Here is that week in review.
Monday, Cia introduced us a new story to read at our pleasure for the Can't Stop Reading feature:
Wednesday was a special addition of AAA. One that we hope everyone got to read and one that we can have everyone help out with:
Thursday, Valkyrie was by with a special Anthology Challenge:
Friday, she was back , but under the disguise of the Prompt Team:
Finally on Saturday, Comicality was back with another article, this one on Formatting:
After a great end to June on the Reading Goals, let's take an early look at the July ones:
