    Weekly Wrap Up
Wow! What a week of the ever so popular Secret Author contest, I guess we could call this SA Week. We found out who was connected to which story  We also found out the winners of the most popular story from Readers and Authors. Congratulations to @impunity and @Thirdly respectfully. It turns out that Thirdly didn't write all of the stories 😮 I guessed all of them were written by Thirdy . At least I got 1 right  Just before posting my guess, I noticed the rules about only one story per author. I'm not the best on paying attention to details .
I think one of the great things about the SA Contest and the other Anthologies, is that we still have a LOT of other stories and chapters being posted at the same time. It is kind of like an avalanche of activity on the boards . Check out some of the other stories below.
I guess the kiddies down south are back in skewl, and the kiddies up north will start in a week and a bit depending on where in the northern hemisphere you are.
We used to have a lot of college aged writers and the first few weeks of back to uni or college, we saw a bit of decrease of new content. It will be interesting to see if that holds true this year or not. Or, I imagine if you have kids of your own, you might be tied up with the back to school rush and for a lot of the kids, the back to school blues .
When you were in non-advanced education, were you the kid that couldn't wait for school to start up again after a summer break, or were you one that tried to come up with a reason to not go back ?
I think in elementary and then junior high, we had those where I grew up, I didn't want to go back. High School was the start of HS sports and meant some teammates would shower  No, I wasn't just a perv in HS, I actually liked to get back to seeing a wider base of friends and catching up that we might not have talked over the summer. Not like we had computers and cell phones back then to follow people  Back then if you followed someone, you were a stalker .
This PSA is to make sure you don't stalk people!!
On Monday, Cia rolled out the carpet and introduced each author to each story in our Secret Author Contest:
Tuesday, Myr tipped his toes in the water to do a Deep Dive. In keeping with the SA contest, this one was a mystery too :
Wednesday was the day that Cia announced the winners of the best use of the theme for the SA contest. Did you get to vote for 1st, 2nd, or 3rd?
Friday, Cia wrapped up the week with naming the winners of the most popular stories, as voted by both readers and authors:

    Words of the Day:
obsequious, lethargy, paramount, insistence, mythos, scorching, sarcastic

    Weekly Wrap Up
Hello GA'ers  Or would that be GA'yers  I like GA'ers better
So thank the unusual weather here in my neck of the woods. I got woken up by a thunderstorm and have kind of been watching the lighting storm lighting up the bedroom. Whilst doing so, I said to myself, 'Self, did you do the Wrap Up last night before bed?' I knew I had not, so here I am at 3:15 AM wrapping things up
I was out to a smaller town called Golden, BC the past few days. Took two my my nephews to the highest suspension bridge in North America and actually made it across. Then ziplined back across the canyon and took the lower suspension bridge to do the mountain coaster. You regulate your speed, I left the brakes off and loved it!! I thought of @TalonRider as I was going down . The boys enjoyed the adventure park which was them way up in the trees doing different obstacles on 4 different courses that I could never attempt . We skipped the axe throwing as we were all too tired at that time.
Now if you had a park like that, don't you think you'd be filling your machines with the $5 bottles of water and other beverages other than pop on a ridiculously hot day? Nope, everything sold out but pop . Water, Gatorade, Iced Tea and pop was all the same price.
Next day we went white water rafting down the Kicking Horse river! It was a great trip and everyone had a blast!!! There was like 11 rafts in our group and it was nuts going down the river doing class 2, 3 and 4 rapids. It is 5 km (3 miles) where you drop a total of 137 meters (450 feet) in about 1.5 hours. Luckily nobody fell out of their boats or flipped their rafts, but everyone definitely got wet .
Now if you ever been to B.C. (British Columbia) it does have its unofficial nickname, Bring Cash  I had to save all the pop bottles from the kids to help pay for some of this trip .  But the boys had a blast and I guess they have told just about everyone they know. Took the 16 and 13 y/o nephews. The 18 y/o decided to go to Indianapolis for World Drum and Brass championships I guess. So I will have to make it up to him when he gets back. At least I know when I take him out to a fancier restaurant, he will probably eat all that he ordered, unlike his younger brothers .
How about you all? Any exciting vacation days taken? This was unplanned but I knew I couldn't go camping this year. Did you get away 1 day to do something wild and crazy? if not, just do it
Side note: Do you think I should have told a certain author beforehand that I was going to do what some may consider life threatening activities, so she knows that I might not finish looking over her chapters before she posts? I didn't see it as a problem
Well let's get onto the wrap up before I see the sun
Monday, Cia had a great interview to finish up the past months CSR Feature's author. Give it a read, it was really great!!
Myr went all spooky on us when he did the Deep Dive into the Horror Genre:
We kind of had a malfunction at the junction for the rest of the week  Cia wrote a blog, just never got formatted as a blog  I only have one thing to do per week on the GA schedule here, I would hate to think all the mistakes I would personally make if I had to do what she does daily and weekly 😮. The blog did get up on Friday though. If you read any of the Secret Author stories, make sure you check this one out:

Now here is the Words of the Day as provided by Myr:
proliferate, vellichor, yaffle, zenith, apathetic, cosmology, cryptid
And since I'm so late... here is today's word too :
    heliotropism

    Weekly Wrap Up
Sadly I think it is happening  I think my desktop is coming to a end of its lifespan. Two days ago, it started doing a split screen of webpages on its own. No, this was not my double vision . Then I lost sound. Then finally it was on, but nothing on the monitor  I turned it off for a day and tried to use my iPad in its place and that seemed to just piss me off 😜 I like to type with a full keyboard and screen(s) personally.
This evening I gave it one more try. Turned it on, let it go through its 10 minute warm-up (and don't tell me too much porn, I have Krista for that ). Nothing came up on the screens and then no sound and i got mad and just hit the side of it. Viola!! My screens work, my sound is back, and I'm back in business.
**Edit to add: Krista thinks this makes her sound like she is providing me porn . No, just she accuses me of having it on my computer all the time
Now I'm faced with the decision of should I replace it now, before I have to bury the hard drive in the giant electronic dumpster in the sky, or should I take it to a repair shop to have them see if they can fix it up? My biggest issue until the other day, was just it so slow. Back in my early windows days, I learned how to run msconfig, check my startup menu, turn off applications on startup, but none of that works anymore. What is a guy to do ? I have the latest Norton, and Malwarebytes.
If I buy something new, I think I will go with a laptop instead of a desktop. I don't think I need the 2 TB of memory I have on this machine. As my phone becomes more useful and also the never needing a CD Rom Drive (yes kids, look that up on Google if you don't know what it is ), I guess I need the RAM to satisfy my impatient existence.
What do you all suggest? Laptop, Desktop, don't say Apple, I'm too old to learn all the workings of an Apple system. I'm good with my iPhone and iPad.  That will be the question of the day.
Shall we now check out what happened here on the GA News Blog?
Monday, the Review Team in the form of Chris did a great new review. Make sure you check out the Review and the Story:
Tuesday, Myr went for a Deep Dive or did he  Cia showed up to talk about the best held Secret at GA in a year!
Myr was NOT to be outdone  He still went for his weekly dive:
We had a break on Wednesday and then Val rode in on her horse to bring us some news about the upcoming 2025 GA Anthology:
Friday found Val coming back to get in some Prompts going. A lot of response on them this week:

I got all the words this week
condescending, apoplectic, adversarial, rind, ubiquitous, detrimental, impetus

    Weekly Wrap Up
I took the desktop into a shop. $45 for the diagnostic and they couldn't find anything that was causing such a slow boot up. He was actually surprised it took over a 1/2 hour or more before starting up till you could even start any app or browser, then another 15 mins before typing into a browser
He called and since I backed up all my files on the cloud ☁️ I went with the cheaper option for him to reformat the hard drive and install Windows 11 on it again. Just means that I had to load all the apps back on, Office 365, Adobe, etc. Oh well, it is a hell of a lot faster now.
In a way, it wasn't as bad as I thought when I thought of reformatting and losing everything on the drive. It had me glad that I did all the backups that I did. I hope I can get a couple of more years out of this one . Then only file I loss was my collection of all the blog banner headers  So I just spent a half hour putting them in a file on the computer again.
I'm finishing up the past 2 weeks of a staycation. Did I get anything really done, nah  I caught up on sleep. Now I will not be looking forward to Monday AM getting up at 6 AM 😭
I really don't have a question of the week this week 😮. So how is the weather in your neck of the woods ? We just had the 3rd wetest July on record and August hasn't started off much better. If I start growing gills and flippers, I will let you all know .
Let's check what happened this past week, shall we.
All hell broke loose on Monday . Cia released a blog with the link for the authors of one of the Secret Author contest, and all the stories. now everyone is trying to figure out who is associated with which story. 12 pages already, oh my!!
Tuesday was Myr's chance to have us look at the Literary Fiction genre:

Word's Of The Day for the past week:
heliotropism, decimate, mnemonic, assemblage, panoramic, halcyon, mystique
2nd question of the week . I did not get anywhere near all of these words. Guess which ones I did get .

This is the beautiful story of two young men, Gray and Rafa, as told through the eyes of Gray.
They simply start off as  workmates who eventually become good friends
This happens because they both suffer an encounter, which leads to something unpleasant happening to both of them, but through there friendship they are able to overcome the encounter.
The story takes place over a few years, so expect the unexpected as you spend time with Rafa and Gray as there friendship develops into much more.
They will need the support of friends and family as there relationship develops, to overcome the encounter and the many problems and obstacles it causes them to suffer.
An amazing story with a great cast of characters, who all play there part in this amazing story.
Give it a read, you will not be disappointed.

    Weekly Wrap Up
It was a party of North America the past week  Well, we have to wait for Mexico in September.
Yes, Canada threw a party on Tuesday and the US of A had one on Friday. I have to admit, a Friday one sounds better  It was a weird work week. Work Monday, off Tuesday, and then back Wednesday to Friday. I woke up this morning thinking I had to go to work. Didn't take that long to get my head screwed on right and headed back to bed at 6 AM
So I had a hotdog to celebrate America's birthday yesterday. Then saw that crazy guy who I think ate 40.5 hotdogs in ten minutes on Coney Island . It takes me ten minutes to eat 1 hotdog. Guess I will probably live longer than him.
I was thinking about a question for the week, and there is a a video on the news and online that has been more or less proven not to be a hoax. It is of ball lightning in Alberta! So being true or not, you can google and see for yourself, but tell me your closest encounter(s) with lightning, or where you think you had a close encounter with lightning. I've often tell people I am the way I am, as I did get hit by lightening when I was 17. Does explain a lot, right?  So what about you? Any positively charged stories you want to share? Were you on a golf course hiding under a tree , I hope not! I wonder, is swimming in a lake really a hazard in a storm or is it like not eating an hour before going swimming, an old wives tale  I'm sure that will cause some comments
I'm a wee bit tired as it is the first weekend of Stampede  So a big Yahoo to you all.
Monday, Cia talked about it. Even though she shouldn't have, yet she did:
Tuesday Mry went a diving, and found some chuckles:
Then on Thursday, Val gave some ideas if you are struggling with Anthology Themes:
Last but not least, Val was back with a Celebration in the Prompt:

Now how did we all do on the Words of the Day?
disdain, concomitant, pedantic, connotation, superfluous, ludicrous, imminent

    Weekly Wrap Up
Wow, if I mess this up, it is all my fault. The past couple of weeks, I seem to be seeing double whenever I'm looking at a screen for more than an hour . I need to book an appointment with my optometrist and see if my eye sight has changed. I've worn glasses/contacts all my life, and believe it or not, over the past 5-6 years, my eyes keep getting better 😮 I'm told it has to do with controlling my blood sugar the best I have in 53 years . Thank gosh for insulin pumps.
Enough of my sob story . As I type with only 1 eye open, I'm going to be brief. Well that could be our question of the week . What kind of guys, or gals, are you? Boxers, Briefs, Boxer Briefs, Jocks, heck for Krista she wears granny panties (don't tell her I said anything ). I guess I'm asking for your preferred day to day undies, or, are you commando?  Just remember, no pictures  Google doesn't like that and we don't want to p.o. Google AdSense.
Just a quick disclaimer, that some might not know! GA does have a lot of costs to keep us up and running. With Myr being a prudent kind of guy with the site, and investing to keep us modern and up to date, we do have expenses like server costs, licensing, and we have a programmer that keeps the site and especially stories running smooth. We do have a great staff of volunteers from so many aspects of the site, we all work free to ensure it all works!!
Unlike other internet sites, GA is probably about 98% free to everyone every day of the week!! We do have our Premium members that help out immensely  I'm one myself  Just in order to keep the site free, we do need other revenue streams. That is where we signed up with Google AdSense. When you have a ad pop up now and then, yes it is probably a PITA (pain in the ass), but you are keeping GA free by tolerating them.  Unfortunately Google AdSense has some pretty strict guidelines to be a sponsor on our site. So if you get a note about a picture that isn't allowed, or a story having a rating changed, it is because we all are looking out for the site.  We really do appreciate that Google gives us warnings if they bots notice something, but too many warnings mean bye bye 😢
Oh, before I forget, I want to welcome back a few authors that GA has missed for quite awhile. I hope you get the chance to check them out! Both @LittleBuddhaTW as well as @Topher Lydon have an extensive collection on site and are posting new again!! Welcome back guys
Okay,so much for a short preamble, I got to get moving. I'm tying with one eye and getting a headache . Here is what happened at GA this week:
Tuesday, Myr lived up to a Deep Dive and went looking at this genre:
Wednesday, the sites newest meerkat with glasses, a goatee and an interesting haircut , came back for the big reveal on AGW? Did you guess right?
We had a little smaller week at GA this week, but I hope you all checked out Aditus's new prompts for all of you:

Myr was busy at it with the Words of the Day. I usually read all the comments and through a like to those that take the time to comment. Sorry, less reading is better tonight :
distinction, vexing, dappled, impaired, superlative, erroneous, amiss

    Weekly Wrap Up
    Howdy
No, not Stampede yet, but can't say howdy without the cowboy emoji
I kind of had a blah week the past week  for me. Wasn't bad, wasn't good, but we will take it. The alternative isn't so great🪦. Sunday through Thursday it was hot and dry and you couldn't see down the street due to the smoke from all the wildfires burning across the north of Canada👨‍🚒. I haven't really looked at the US of A, but I imagine they aren't too different. I heard that there is even some some smoke floating over to Ireland, Scotland and Wales 😮. Unfortunately this now seems the norm for the summers in Canada .
What about down under? You getting lots of rain? Since you are in fall and next week sliding into winter, hopefully you are out of wildfire season finally .
Busy week coming up, need to do some planning and take some actions regarding Christmas at work 🎄. Don't worry, doesn't involve knocking off Santa 🎅! Good time to remind everyone one coming up quickly on 6 months to decide on what you are sending me for Christmas .
Since it is Father's Day today, if you are a father or not, I really want you to post your worst dad joke below  You can hide the answer (by using the  in the editor bar) or not, your choice . So get us rolling with laughter or groaning in despair with your funnies
So we had a fairly busy week here at the GA News Blog. Only Saturday didn't have a new feature 😮 I'm hoping you got a chance to read them all and if not, here they are in the recap.
Monday, Parker Owens reviewed an author of an interesting story. Don't be fooled by the name , and maybe download it or use the wifi on the beach 😎
Onward to Tuesday. The big guy got scary by doing a Deep Dive in the Thriller/Suspense genre ☠️:
Shuffling on to Wednesday, it was a great day here at GA 🥳. Graeme got to introduce a brand new Signature Author to the site. Another Aussie:
Thursday had us all put on our thinking caps and see if we know by some interesting clues, who Aaron is talking to in the Author Guess Who:
Finally Friday arrived. This meant that we got a couple more prompts from Aditus. Make sure you check them out. Psst, I wonder if these had anything to do with Valkyrie having her 29th birthday the past week and Aditus missing it   🎂:

6 blogs in 7 days, as I count the Weekly Wrap Up as 1.
Myr had to outdo everyone again and brought us 7 Words of the Day. Believe it or not I only knew 2, thought I knew 5 :
consternation, dilemma, equivocate, pugnacious, progeny, lascivious, indulge

June is here, and that means we get our monthly fix from our Review Team. Check out this gem brought to us by Parker:

    The Jerk-Off
    by JLynch
    Reviewer: Parker Owens
    Status: Complete
    Word Count: 98,033
It’s summer.  You need a good beach read – you know, the kind of story that engages your attention so much that you wind up frying in the hot sun, and which entertains enough that you ignore the subsequent pain. GA author JLynch serves up just such a story in The Jerk-Off.
Set in the summer lake country of Minnesota, JLynch plunges us into the world of young Thayer Dunn, working his first job at a local establishment serving boaters and summer residents on Bay Lake. Thayer has just begun to grow through his adolescence, but he hasn’t gone unnoticed. JLynch uses this to establish connections for us. We get the perfect amount of detail to put the reader into a colorful, sunlit scene, and enough local gossip to plug us into the social web of the community. Before long, readers are introduced to a wide cast of vividly drawn characters, all of whom appear to have an interest in this unassuming, backwater lake town.
In the narrative that follows, JLynch weaves a brightly colored tapestry, letting each character tell us of the dreams and interests that motivates them, often in stark conflict with another. Issues of inheritance, money and power are all concentrated around the shining waters of Bay Lake, shimmering in the summer heat. When murder and violence erupt, Thayer Dunn is there on the periphery, observing events even as they intrude on his own adolescent world. What develops is an amusing swirl of adult mystery, adolescent discovery, and plenty of local color.
Often in summer romance novels, there appear to be formulaic steps that readers can tick off as they occur, one by one: an innocent aw-shucks moment, a first kiss, or a trip to the emergency room. Some of these ingredients are here, but everything is tinged with intrigue and charged with clandestine power plays. Thayer’s community seethes, but he’s on a different quest. What makes this story both believable and delightful is the way JLynch shows us that Thayer can be partly aware of matters going seriously awry in his hometown, while simultaneously living in the self-absorption of adolescence. Yet at the same time, the author lets us in on the lives of the adults in Thayer’s world, who seem pretty much as self-centered as he is.
As for those adults, their complex and convoluted worlds belie the sparkling simplicity of the lakeside setting. Vacation towns full of summer visitors enjoying themselves can still mask webs of intricate relationships. Each chapter further lets the reader into those webs and entertains us while unspooling the mystery of murder and motivation. And yes, like any summer beach read, there’s a healthy dose of sex written in, too.
So make sure your beach has access to internet signal, so you can binge read this engaging story by a capable GA author. Remember the sunblock, because once you get started, you’ll forget that your tan has turned cherry red.

    Weekly Wrap Up
I was doing up our Weekly Update this week and noticed I had a long hard slog ahead of me to recap all the blogs
Then I got thinking about my preamble and thinking I should do an equal long and labourious one.
So get ready, here we go.
    How was everybody's past week?
Let's check what happened in the past week on the GA News Blog.
Tuesday was the start of the week with a Deep Dive into the deepest part of our imaginations:

Friday, Val was in with a couple of new Prompts that seemed to have stimulated some discussion:

The one person who was hard at work was the big guy poring over a dictionary to find some Words of the Day:

    Weekly Wrap Up
There goes another month in the books! Can you believe you all have less than 7 months to get my Christmas Present mailed to me ? Unfortunately there might be another Canada Post strike here, so the sooner you get it in the mail, the better chance it will arrive here. This year !
I also can't believe it is still bright out at 9:40 PM my time. Dusk is like at 10:30 PM
What all did you get up to this past month, the sort of, kind of, transition month, from spring to summer? I managed to get out camping not once but twice this past month. The camping gods must have been smiling down on me as it was perfect weather. Not too hot, not too cold, dry, no mosquitos yet, and good times. Now here is a shocker for you. The friend I went camping with last weekend has been sober for 5 months, so I never took a drop with me . So reserve your judgement for another day .
What about upcoming plans? I guess I shouldn't be so north focused, what about my Australian and New Zealander folks as well as others down under? Any plans for this winter? Going surfing with the sharks ? Funny how I can lump everyone in the southern hemisphere to what I picture as South African activities  Shame on me.
Oh, I was told not to say anything, but I will say it anyways  We had an Signature Author that contributed last week, but his poem never made it into the Weekly Wrap Up. So know that the first Signature 'chapter' listing below was his. If you know of anyone else, or yours, that might have been missed last week with the technical glitch, let me know and I will work you into a future Wrap Up. We have to give credit where credit is due .
    Now onto the Wrap Up...
Monday, what happened Monday?  Oh, Cia was by with the CSR Discussion Day! It was another one that was nailed out of the park ⚾!
Tuesday, Myr traded in his hockey skates and stick and didn't watch the final game of the Stanley Cup playoffs semi finals, to do another Deep Dive:
Go figure, from hockey fights to Romance --> 💖
Thursday, Valkyrie came by to get us all excited, then threw a touchdown 🏈 and gave us a feature of upcoming Anthology and writing contests:
Friday, everyone's favourite wolf came in with an overtime free kick to tell us about this week's Prompts ⚽:

Think of the Words of the Day like 7 pin bowling  Did you get a full strike, a spare or something less? Remember if you got a strike, then points you get next week get added to this weeks score 🎳:
wizened, vitality, hoodwink, scathing, diligent, heinous, anesthesia

    Weekly Wrap Up
I was thinking how it is funny how things have changed over the years here at GA.
A certain author I know found a movie called Riley and she may have a story called Ridley and she was wondering if maybe someone took her story and made a screenplay out of it, and made the movie for profit . So being the dedicated friend that I am, I rented the movie to see the similarities. Just an FYI, this is my opinion only, not to be taken as fact. Three similarities:
Both the movie and her story both have the letters r, i, l, e, y in both of them The main characters in both play a sport   If the original end of the story had left off where originally planned, it would have been like the movie, the wrong place to end both   She didn't seem appreciative of my thoroughly deep investigation  I wonder why
Now how does the two come together?
Back in the day, a lot of the stories here at GA when we had more active forums for story discussion when we didn't have comments and reviews, there was always a huge debate on who would play who if a movie was made. I'm not sure if that happens so much anymore. It still does, but not as much
Then we had a lot of great artists in the visual arts way, that could conjure up a picture of what they saw the character looking like. Some were amazing, but still were open to debate. The thing was 99% of us couldn't draw as good of a picture to get a counter point across
Now, we get AI to help us create the character in the image the author sees there characters. It is almost taking away the art of describing the characters in a way that wasn't: 'I stood in front of the mirror and looked at my 6' body with my angular jaw and moustache and black curly hair dropping down to my broad shoulders on my swimmer's built chest with huge pecs, hairless normally, narrowing down to my perfect waist, etc.'    That is how I do character descriptions. I do love an author that can weave a picture in your mind with words and suggestions, not all in one paragraph .
So, do you like AI pictures from either an author's or a reader's view? I have to admit, I like a lot of them. I guess though I miss the debate of if Keanu Reeves could play Seth from Desert Droppings ? Now if you answer no, please be respectful in your answer as not to make all people who do AI art want to give it up ! My one criticism would be that I can still tell the difference between AI art I see (on here) and what an actual picture looks like. But I appreciate the effort to get better and better.
Needless to say, I'm in a debate know with the unknown author on who gets to play characters in some of their stories. We do not find the same looks attractive as the other does
Now after that ramble, let's move on to the GA News of the week. It was a busy week!
Monday, Cia came in with a new Classic Author Feature. I went into it and downloaded the nifty picture and put it in my signature:
Tuesday, Myr waxed and waned poetic . Did I use wax and wane correctly?
Wednesday, being Classic Author week, we got the Excerpt to go with Monday's announcement. Check it out:
Aaron dropped by to put us out of suspense to reveal the Author Guess Who? Author:
Friday, it was time for our Prompt Team to let us know the results of the their latest rendition of This is the End:

The Words of the Day were tricker this week. Did you get them all?
sibylline, nurture, modish, ignoramus, pertinacious, polarization, insert Saturday word here

    Weekly Wrap Up
I have a weekend off from anything so I'm actually here  Thanks again to Cia to helping out the past couple of weeks.
You know what? I'm at a loss for words this week. No, I'm not drunk and/or incapacitated.
We are in our annual Victoria Day weekend in Canada, so they means we get rain and snow. No snow this year though.
I decided to start on a plumbing project in my shower, and I bought some new apparatuses and thought today would be a good day to get them installed. When I bought them at the Homo Depot™ they told me I would just need a pair of pliers and a screwdriver. They lie !!!! I had to get a plumbers wrench and then came back home and read the instructions and I need plumbers tape . Most things throw the tape in there, don't they ?
Now if you are a plumber by trade and laughing your ass off at me, go for it ! Youtube did not get me out of this mess and unfortunately when you ask at the store, they seem to sell you something else.
Needless to say, I have the pipe coming out of the wall right now and nothing more. So baths it is until I get it installed. Or maybe I will have a shower blaster for a day or two
So here comes my question for the week. Are you a DYI'er, or are you more of a call a professional to do something? It seems like the mechanical as in autos I can do on my own with some help with a OBD meter and Youtube. I won't touch anything electrical or gas related, not a chance in hell. Well, I did put in a ceiling fan/light in my bedroom, but I'm still waiting for it to break off and snap the safety wire and kill me in my sleep . Happy thoughts.
On that positive note let's move onto see what happened at the GA Blogs this week.
Monday was a chance for the Review Team to attract us all to another great story:

Tuesday was time for Myr to tiptoe in and try to scare the crap out of us :
Thursday... well I have to keep a secret :
Finally on Friday, Aditus, going for 2 of the 4 blogs of the week, gave us some new Prompts:

Now what would a week without Myr trying to expand our vocabulary and to use in our literary pursuits. Question, do you ever try to speak the word of the day in everyday conversation that day? I have to admit when the periodic table of elements were being done, people were looking at me funny .
objurgate, turophile, ambrosial, incipience, hallucinate, spartan, sappy

    The Life of Seeon
    by comicfan
    Reviewer: Aditus

    Word Count: 32,006
If you want to make God laugh, tell him about your plans (Woody Allen). That came to mind when I first read The Life of Seeon.
Seeon is the fifth and youngest child of the High King of Toleran Maon. Even though he is a prince, he’ll never wear the crown. He’s given the choice to become either a eunuch or a priest. His first plan is to become a priest. When he‘s fifteen, disaster strikes in multiple ways, and the plan changes. Toleran is about to lose the war against the Horeun empire, and Seeon’s father reintroduces a centuries-old custom to gain allies. Seeon is to become Ma’ Nee, which means he’ll lose all societal standings as a male. To end the war, the king decides that Seeon has to marry Horeun’s youngest prince, Mika, and be his second wife.
After Seeon arrives in Horeun, he learns how different the two countries are. The plan changes again, and this time, a God smiles.
The story can make its reader sad, disgusted, hopeful, happy, and everything in between. Unfortunately, there won’t be a second part, even when you desperately want to know more about this exciting world, its people, and gods, as comicfan (Wayne) passed much too early in the summer of 2021. You have to weave the story further in your head.

    Weekly Wrap Up
    Hellooooo!
    How is everybody  ?
First off, can you shout out your love to Cia this week? You probably didn't notice, but she used her magic powers and went in and put in the stories of the week in last week's blog and published it  I'm hoping she will be able to help me out this week too!
This weekend, I got convinced last weekend, when I probably could claim I was not of a clear mind and not to be held responsible for anything I committed too , to do something questionable.
It turns out a bunch of friends every year go out on a guys camping trip to the Rocky Mountains. They are doing it on Mother's Day weekend so I haven't quite figured that out. Are they giving their wives and mothers a few days away from them?  Where we have gone camping is not covered by cell phone coverage. We are due back today, early Sunday, so maybe they will make it up this afternoon or evening. I'll let you know the reasons behind this weekend though.
So, in case you forgot, and I'm going to be careful as some don't feel this way. Oh, did you know that incase isn't a word  Wait, I got distracted . Here is what I wanted to say :

My mommy is gone, but i still call my sisters on Mother's Day. So if there is someone that is a mother that you like, drop them a call, visit them, or just say something like, "Hey, Great Job Mom!"
So curious what everyone is doing this weekend? Any big plans? Are any plans a secret ? I guess you can't post here, because it wouldn't be a secret anymore. I seem to have a bit of trouble with secrets as I'm always wondering how I can find out who wrote a secret author contest entry to narrow it down .
We had a good week behind us, I think  IMHO.
Monday, Cia gave us an all new CSR Feature:
Tuesday, Myr was seen walking along the shores of Lake Ontario pinning for the days when he can run into the lake to do a true deep dive. No fiction to be added to this story:
Thursday, there was a lot of chatter around the latest Author Guess Who? I think 3 names have put been put forward with a lot of assurance, but I'm not sure. How about you? Do you know who this mystery person is? Aaron won't tell me, because it falls in the category of guess what, a secret :
Friday, we had a return to our normal broadcasting schedule with a new Prompt Event. Valkyrie and Aditus are trying the End game again  I have to say this time I read it and I understood it right away ! If I can understand it, any rock on the ground can too :

Now for a summary of all the Words of the Day:
umber, articulate, mesmerize, orifice, demure, numismatics, scoff

    Weekly Wrap Up
Let's throw things in the mixer and mix things up this week . Well not mix, but let's look at a mirror image of the past week.
Now for the big news this week, that many have been waiting for. In fact there would not be any GA if it wasn't for the guy that we are holding our annual Anthology for this week. A huge thank you to all the authors that contributed this year. Without you, his memory might fade away  .
Make sure you stop by, read and leave a comment or two! He will be missed, but if you ever read anything by Comicality, then you need to look at the bonus feature at the bottom of the Anthology. Enjoy !

Wednesday, Val kept us up to date on the upcoming events here at GA for writing. Still over 1/2 the year to go and still 3 events to go, at least! Check them all out here:
Jump on back to Tuesday, and there was a lot of mystery going on with Myr's Deep Dive :
Monday, Cia brought us a great CSR Discussion Day with a great author! I learned a lot about him in his interview:

Since we did the blogs backwards, why not for S&G  look at the Words of the Day in reverse order too!
intelligible, encumbered, askew, cognizant, nomenclature, behest.
Did anyone else notice we didn't have a WOTD on Tuesday  I know the big guy is having a lot of stuff going on, so hoping everyone gives him a hug and a pass.
Maybe not make a pass at him .
Well, who knows. Maybe he will like that  Go ahead, make a pass at him  Hey Myr, you're looking sexy today   .

Now usually I start with a preamble, so this is my first official postamble
I am hoping that I can convince Cia or Myr to insert the stories below because I can tell you for a fact, I probably have been poured out of a Uber and may or may not have made it home after the International Beerfest being held on Saturday. Being in the top five Beerfests in the world, with an even larger line up this year, in a much expanded event centre, with over 200 vendors, I have set a goal to try every single one of them ! If I succeeded, it was nice knowing you all .
My only wish is that I could get @Daddydavek up here and I'm sure the two of us could make a good dent in the place! Brad will be there as well, btw.
May 2 brought us great weather, with today around 26C or 78.8F ( @Bill W, I double checked my numbers ) and Saturday around 30C/86F, it is a good thing I will be in air conditioned comfort, except for the fifteen block stumble to the bar we go to after for food and ... more beer .
Just happened that my yearly physical was on Thursday and my doctor asked how much I drink and I told him very little in a month, in honesty, under four beers a month. I did however inform him of my upcoming drunkenness and his reply was that I'm allowed that once a year, and he might see me down there
I hope nobody here is offended about me talking about tomorrow like a drunken fool . I don't promote this to anyone but me .
So how about you, do you partake in causal festivals surrounded around food or alcohol? I do have to mention since cannabis has been legal in Canada for like what, ten years now, that they have their own festivals too! I think I want to make it to Bavaria in Germany around October. Not sure why, just hear they have a pretty big party over there .  I know there is wine festivals, spirit festivals, bbq festivals, pie festivals, exotic cuisine festivals, ethnic festivals, and so on. Do you go to any yourself? Tell me about them.
Okay, let's rap ( or wrap  ) things up. Anyone want to give me a beat? I'm so white and old

    Weekly Wrap Up
    Sunburn anyone?

What is the rule #1 of when you have the first day above 20C/50F with the sun higher in the sky of Spring?
    Burn baby burn!
    I think not !
So, that kind of happened today and luckily it didn't really burn me, just a little bit of colour on my face, arms, and legs. In Canada, anything over 0C/32F is shorts weather, so normally I was shorting today .
I did have an enjoyable 'me' day though. Got a massage, an adjustment (not on my attitude, you're out  of luck ), had a nice breakfast, went for a walk, did some stuff around the condo and then met up with a friend for a nice dinner out . I'm off the next week in a use 'em or lose  'em vacation situation so no real plans. Maybe start exercising everyday now that the weather has turned for the better.
I got invited to a learn how to skate program next week for amputees. I couldn't attend in January so I think I will go and see if I can sign up this time. Watch for me in next years Stanley Cup Playoffs . Maybe not as a player but maybe a rink rat cleaning the ice .
I can't believe this is the end of April, and May is starting this week 😮. So summer plans are in the air. I finally received a new grill for my BBQ so will have to get that going in the next week. Maybe invite some people over for some beers and burgers. Beers are optional .
Any plans yourself for this upcoming month? I know Canada and Britain have Victoria Day long weekend coming up, but around my area that just means snow The Americans have their May long weekend the week after, and that is usually a warmer weekend up here, so I'm going camping to the mountains the week after. I should also ask people like @Graeme, @Paladin, @Mark Ponyboy Peters and @quokka, who all live at the bottom of the earth , what they are doing for the fall and winter. Or are they in areas where it is just nice out year round  Bugggers  (can I say that jokingly or does it mean something really nasty down under ?).
I guess I have probably bored everyone with my boring life and such, so shall we move onto the excitement?
Monday, it was Signature Author Day and Cia picked a good one:
Tuesday, Myr got more than his toes in the water for his Deep Dive:
Wednesday, Cia was back to bring us the Signature Author Excerpt to tease us all into reading:
Thursday was a day to thank our great poets and those from the staff that helped bring the Poetry Anthology together. A great recap all in all, check it out:

Time to recap our Words of the Day. I'm sort of there, sort of not there on knowing them
avowed, incapacitate, obstinacy, emblematic, rarefied, truncate, charade

    Weekly Wrap Up
Well Happy Easter if you celebrate
Well Happy Passover if you celebrate
Well Happy Long Weekend for everyone else  Unless you don't get a long weekend and then in that case
I was looking at the calendar and noticed that April is just 2/3rds gone  I really haven't seen too much spring signs other than the snow gone. We are dry, really dry and grass fires seem to pop up here and there. We have precipitation in the forecast but it really isn't enough . Long hot summer coming, but how can you look forward to that when you can't probably breath due to forest fire smoke!
Okay Steve, move onto the positive  For those that do celebrate Easter, in not necessarily the religious realm, but maybe more the commercial one, how was your childhood? Did you wake up for an Easter Egg hunt? I did, but the deal was my sisters got the chocolate eggs, which I had to leave if I found, and I got the hard boiled coloured eggs . My sisters seemed more than willing to leave those for me . Growing up as a diabetic, I did have different rules. I guess the good news is today, I imagine that with the medications and delivery methods you can now search for the chocolate ones too  But what about you? This is a late Easter this year. In my neck of the woods it is usually wet or snowing so hunts were done indoor at home. I hear about outdoor easter egg hunts but around here they are only usually at the dog parks . They'll eat anything
We should just move along into the Weekly Wrap Up at this point of time. There was way too many emoticons in that last run on paragraph .
Monday, Parker Owens from the Review Team presented a pretty in depth and interesting story review:

    The Roaming Sea
    by mcarss

In high school history class, we learn about the Hundred Years War.  GA author Mike Carss (mcarss) writes for us a fantasy about a similar war between peoples so dissimilar that mutual hatred and distrust seem to seep from every line of the story.
Ironically, mcarss sets us up for the story well away from the crashing, terrifying oceans which circle this world. Instead, we are met at a military camp, and seen through the eyes of Callum Hidaro, the war is bloody, brutal and endless. A sudden surprise attack from the enemy, the giant Pactrids, disturbs Callum’s journey home, and, through the metaphysical agency of transport,  he is suddenly deposited in a deep green forest far behind enemy lines. All too soon, Callum is captured by a Pactrid, and is held prisoner.
Thus begins a novella of journey and discovery, of realization and truth, of change and love. This ordeal will take Callum Hidaro beyond all the boundaries he has ever known. One of the best aspects of thisstory is the way in which mcarss deals with the everyday metaphysics of this world he constructs. For each of the species we encounter, human and Pactrid, certain acts and attributes are not described as magical, but as matters of fact.  Something taken for granted by one may be mysterious to the other, yet neither takes such things as wizardry, but as something to be better understood.  For instance, the Pactrids cannot fathom the human’s ability to transport themselves almost instantaneously via the agency of an adept, yet it is a unique attribute to the human kind, not a magical sort of thing at all.
What matters more is the alchemy that develops between captor and captive. Callum and his Pactrid warder must learn to communicate, to eat and sleep, and to adapt to one another as they travel to a place where the human prisoner may be properly kept. Callum turns out to be hardier than his Pactrid adversary anticipates, and prouder, too. Slowly, each learns to respect the other, and to understand the other.  When Callum grasps the truth of the bloody, endless war that claimed the lives of so many he loved, he must come to grips with action he must take.
As his journey continues, Callum comes to realize the enemy he must escape is not his Pactrid, but the lies by which he has steered his life. The tale takes surprising and dramatic turns, and Callum Hidaro must face a future he never imagined.
I urge you to switch off your streaming service, pull up a chair or sprawl out on the sofa.  Take the time to join Callum on his path, and read this engrossing story by a talented GA author.  There’s a whole new world waiting with every turn of the page.

    Weekly Wrap Up
Who has a cold that won't go away 🙋‍♂️
It has been a week. I'm sick of water, I'm sick of Vitamin C, I'm sick of decongestants, I'm sick of everyone giving me suggestions on what to do  None of them work.
Anyhow, how is everyone doing?  Can't bring the mood of the Weekly Wrap Up down afterall
I was looking at the south Pacific looking where a place was in a article I was reading and I saw Guam on the map. So, have you ever been to Guam? Didn't planes from North America stop in Guam to go to Australia back when the planes didn't hold enough fuel? Probably before my time
So that gave me the question of the week  What strange or unusual place have you been to, that probably you never really thought was strange and unusual. To others though, it would be.
I had to think on that one myself. I guess I have one place like that. Ran out of gas just outside of the old Candlestick Park in South San Francisco after a Giants baseball game. Why it is unusual is that I don't think that you will find it advertised on any tour maps as a place to visit  Just it was a glimpse into probably one of the sadest places in America and at the time was in the top 3 murder areas in the US . Now if you want to know why 3 guys and a gal ran out gas in this district when the game was long over and there was not much other traffic, that is another story. But just remember that I'm here, I think, thanks to a couple of guardian angels.
So where is your strange place in the world have you been? Is there a story behind it? Make us all walk around with our mouths agape after reading about it .
Now onto our regular scheduled weekly program, and what a week it was!
Monday, Cia introduces us to the April CSR. It is from one of my all time favourite series:
Tuesday, Myr was tiptoeing through the tulips with his ukulele getting ready for his latest Deep Dive:
Thursday was a big day here at GA  It was the kick off of the Poetry Anthology with the theme of Diversity:

Myr was a busy guy though everyday this week posting the Word of the Day:

    Weekly Wrap Up
Just rolled in at 1:30 AM local time! No, I was not out drinking with Brad. Ironically I was at Brad's playing poker . Not high stakes poker, but the kind that a bunch of guys, all of them married but me, and I the token gay guy, get together and and have a drink and play some rounds and bs and rib each others 🎴. Needless to say I contributed my $20 for 2 games and came home with nothing
One guy there was telling us of how he is starting an online business auctioneering things, and he was trying to come up with an eye grabbing, attention grabbing, name that would stick in your head for a while. After we got through the rude and crude names, it was an interesting brain stoming at a poker game, where probably 5 of the 8 were a wee bit intoxicated and me, I was stone cold sober!
That got me to thinking on the way home, how I could relate something from the game to our weekly wrap up  So here it goes. What stories title do you think grabbed your attention most here at GA? I will take out my story, "Why is your underwear at the bottom of the pool?" out of contention of voting  I just wanted to give you an idea of the title that maybe stuck out the most to you. It doesn't have to be brash or bizarre, maybe your are a romantic and something with love in the title attracted you. I'm curious what your thoughts are
Okay, I will start it off. @Dodger's "Cockney Canuck" always and still does draw my attention. I know of a few others, but I do want to take them away from others coming up with them .
What do you all think about me moving onto the Weekly Wrap Up? I see all 7 of you in the audience with your hands up. 🖕 Oh, that wasn't your hand, that was only your middle finger  How rude
Monday, being the last day of March, Cia had a great interview with the CSR featured author of the month. Check it out:
Tuesday, with a bit of a nip in the air, Myr went Deep Diving:
Thursday, Valkyrie gave us ample time to consider your Comicality tribute stories to celebrate not only the first hosted author on site, but what would have been his birthday:
On Friday, Valkyrie came back to the show with an all new Prompts Friday in celebration of NaPoWriMo:

For the Words of the Day, I was so excited I might actually get all 7. Then Saturday came
vacillate, ostracize, angst, gaffe, iridescent, escalate, vagary

    Weekly Wrap Up
    THEY LIED
2 - 4 cm my derriere!!! (Don't see that word used much anymore)
I wake up and have to leave the house to find about 10" of the white stuff fell overnight. Thinking I had a lot of time to get to my first appointment  I didn't really get up early enough to go 4X4ing through the snow and slush that covered the roads. No plows, no sanding, it is the joy of living in Calgary at the end of March and through April. It is warm enough that most of the snow melts within 24 hours or so on the road. They have already starting street sweeping the sand and gravel up after the winter, so they don't want to put down more.
    So said appointment  ...
Last year a bought a new car, was supposed to be my final big purchase before I eased off into the sunset  Then I got a phone call from the dealer on Thursday and they were offering a deal that I could not refuse. A brand new 2025 model for less than what I paid last year, and they were paying off my vehicle last year as they have no used car inventory. So went in and check out the vehicle and the upgrades from a year ago was quite a bit.
So last year I told everyone I bought a new vehicle because I didn't want to do the spring cleaning. well looks like I didn't want to do it again  Now don't get me wrong, I'm not a rich man. Just I happened to be in the right place in the right time. So I shall be working to at least the age of 80 .
Maybe this summer I will drive down and visit Krista in my new car
Now for the big news of the week:
Get your 2025 Poetry Anthology entries in for Diversity!! Please load everything up by the EOD on Sunday, March 30th. Today! Then, April is Poetry Month. So let's see how you all will be celebrating it!! More info below.
Now I usually ponder a question for you active Weekly Wrap Up readers, to ponder yourselves. If you can pick one genre, only one, what would you say is your favourite one? Also why? Nice and simple  !
Onto the Wrap Up of the weeks staff and volunteer blogs.
Monday, it was??? What? Did someone forget to post a blog ? Oh wait, it seems on months that we have more weeks than blogs, we miss a Monday. Looks like last week was one of those weeks.
Tuesday we kicked off the week with Myr diving deep down into the Fantasy genre:
Then on Thursday, in case you missed it, it was the big reveal in the Author Guess Who? Did you guess right?
Wow, I had an easy week  Finally on Friday, we had the Prompt Team introduce a new Author  that tackled the new Prompts from the week before:

It was a mixed bag of Words of the Day for me this week:
deluge, tepid, aquiline, slovenly, affect, effect, recrimination

    Weekly Wrap Up
Oh Lordy, lordy! What day is it? When trying to put in the title of the Weekly Wrap Up it took me about 5 times until I looked at the calendar on the bottom right of my computer.

Yes, when most of North America and the rest of the world have flipped the calendar to March 23rd, I'm still stuck in the 22nd  I guess the great thing that happened a few days ago was that Spring has sprung 🌈. In my neck of the woods that means that April and May snowstorms bring June flowers .
So I opened up my pantry and pulled a bag of flour of the top shelf and noticed the streak in the dust that was left  After my pancakes, I decided it was time to start some spring cleaning. Funny, you'd think after all these years of living, I'd figure if you did cleaning every day and week, you'd have no spring cleaning come every spring  Slow learner I guess
I was chatting with someone and they asked me what I did tonight? Back in the day, I imagine I would say things like went to a bar, went on a date, went to a movie, turned a trick or two , or something fun. But no, I did none of those things. I did my taxes I'm of the age that I get excited to see if I get a refund or have to pay and I'm happy to say it is a refund. Once again, I couldn't claim any wages as an escort as my pimp, she takes 100% of my earnings. Also didn't know if the sexy undies that I buy can be claimed as a business expense. Any tax experts out there?
Now, I would be remiss once again, to not mention you have a little over 1 week to get in your Poetry Anthology with the theme of Diversity into the team. You can find out all the information HERE.
Rather than ask a specific question this week, what do you want to discuss. I can't answer everything  but make a statement of what you did and ask me any questions related
    Now onto the Wrap Up.
Monday, Cia brought us an all new Signature Author Feature! Go here to download a neat signature logo:
Tuesday, Myr went diving once again. Want to see what he came up with?
When we have a new Signature Author Feature on Monday the Excerpt is on Wednesday:
Then on Thursday, Val was up to some fun and games on the Anthology Blog:
Friday as always, was a new rendition of our Prompts:

That wraps up the blogs this week, but what about the Words of the Day? I only knew 1 of them, I thought I knew 3 . I'm getting worse

Well only a week to go to St. Paddy's day, which means we are well on our way to the middle of March. So before we hit that, let's check out the great review done up this week by Chris:
    The Wig Heist
    by Rafy
    Reviewer: chris191070
    Status: Complete
    Word Count: 4,745

It's not your usual type of story as it features Drag Queens. We have Delilah who works at the Velvet Peacock when disaster strikes.
We then are treated to a wonderful when Coco, grabs her pen, pad and sequened trenchcoat and starts searching for clues.
So we have five drag queen with tantrums, catfights, and comedic revelations.
All of this over a missing wig.
You really need to read this if you are after a comedy, caper who-dunnit mystery.
You will be rolling around in laughter from these over the top Drag Queens.
