    Weekly Wrap Up
I was thinking how it is funny how things have changed over the years here at GA.
A certain author I know found a movie called Riley and she may have a story called Ridley and she was wondering if maybe someone took her story and made a screenplay out of it, and made the movie for profit . So being the dedicated friend that I am, I rented the movie to see the similarities. Just an FYI, this is my opinion only, not to be taken as fact. Three similarities:
Both the movie and her story both have the letters r, i, l, e, y in both of them The main characters in both play a sport   If the original end of the story had left off where originally planned, it would have been like the movie, the wrong place to end both   She didn't seem appreciative of my thoroughly deep investigation  I wonder why
Now how does the two come together?
Back in the day, a lot of the stories here at GA when we had more active forums for story discussion when we didn't have comments and reviews, there was always a huge debate on who would play who if a movie was made. I'm not sure if that happens so much anymore. It still does, but not as much
Then we had a lot of great artists in the visual arts way, that could conjure up a picture of what they saw the character looking like. Some were amazing, but still were open to debate. The thing was 99% of us couldn't draw as good of a picture to get a counter point across
Now, we get AI to help us create the character in the image the author sees there characters. It is almost taking away the art of describing the characters in a way that wasn't: 'I stood in front of the mirror and looked at my 6' body with my angular jaw and moustache and black curly hair dropping down to my broad shoulders on my swimmer's built chest with huge pecs, hairless normally, narrowing down to my perfect waist, etc.'    That is how I do character descriptions. I do love an author that can weave a picture in your mind with words and suggestions, not all in one paragraph .
So, do you like AI pictures from either an author's or a reader's view? I have to admit, I like a lot of them. I guess though I miss the debate of if Keanu Reeves could play Seth from Desert Droppings ? Now if you answer no, please be respectful in your answer as not to make all people who do AI art want to give it up ! My one criticism would be that I can still tell the difference between AI art I see (on here) and what an actual picture looks like. But I appreciate the effort to get better and better.
Needless to say, I'm in a debate know with the unknown author on who gets to play characters in some of their stories. We do not find the same looks attractive as the other does
Now after that ramble, let's move on to the GA News of the week. It was a busy week!
Monday, Cia came in with a new Classic Author Feature. I went into it and downloaded the nifty picture and put it in my signature:
Tuesday, Myr waxed and waned poetic . Did I use wax and wane correctly?
Wednesday, being Classic Author week, we got the Excerpt to go with Monday's announcement. Check it out:
Aaron dropped by to put us out of suspense to reveal the Author Guess Who? Author:
Friday, it was time for our Prompt Team to let us know the results of the their latest rendition of This is the End:

The Words of the Day were tricker this week. Did you get them all?
sibylline, nurture, modish, ignoramus, pertinacious, polarization, insert Saturday word here

    Weekly Wrap Up
I have a weekend off from anything so I'm actually here  Thanks again to Cia to helping out the past couple of weeks.
You know what? I'm at a loss for words this week. No, I'm not drunk and/or incapacitated.
We are in our annual Victoria Day weekend in Canada, so they means we get rain and snow. No snow this year though.
I decided to start on a plumbing project in my shower, and I bought some new apparatuses and thought today would be a good day to get them installed. When I bought them at the Homo Depot™ they told me I would just need a pair of pliers and a screwdriver. They lie !!!! I had to get a plumbers wrench and then came back home and read the instructions and I need plumbers tape . Most things throw the tape in there, don't they ?
Now if you are a plumber by trade and laughing your ass off at me, go for it ! Youtube did not get me out of this mess and unfortunately when you ask at the store, they seem to sell you something else.
Needless to say, I have the pipe coming out of the wall right now and nothing more. So baths it is until I get it installed. Or maybe I will have a shower blaster for a day or two
So here comes my question for the week. Are you a DYI'er, or are you more of a call a professional to do something? It seems like the mechanical as in autos I can do on my own with some help with a OBD meter and Youtube. I won't touch anything electrical or gas related, not a chance in hell. Well, I did put in a ceiling fan/light in my bedroom, but I'm still waiting for it to break off and snap the safety wire and kill me in my sleep . Happy thoughts.
On that positive note let's move onto see what happened at the GA Blogs this week.
Monday was a chance for the Review Team to attract us all to another great story:

Tuesday was time for Myr to tiptoe in and try to scare the crap out of us :
Thursday... well I have to keep a secret :
Finally on Friday, Aditus, going for 2 of the 4 blogs of the week, gave us some new Prompts:

Now what would a week without Myr trying to expand our vocabulary and to use in our literary pursuits. Question, do you ever try to speak the word of the day in everyday conversation that day? I have to admit when the periodic table of elements were being done, people were looking at me funny .
objurgate, turophile, ambrosial, incipience, hallucinate, spartan, sappy

    The Life of Seeon
    by comicfan
    Reviewer: Aditus

If you want to make God laugh, tell him about your plans (Woody Allen). That came to mind when I first read The Life of Seeon.
Seeon is the fifth and youngest child of the High King of Toleran Maon. Even though he is a prince, he’ll never wear the crown. He’s given the choice to become either a eunuch or a priest. His first plan is to become a priest. When he‘s fifteen, disaster strikes in multiple ways, and the plan changes. Toleran is about to lose the war against the Horeun empire, and Seeon’s father reintroduces a centuries-old custom to gain allies. Seeon is to become Ma’ Nee, which means he’ll lose all societal standings as a male. To end the war, the king decides that Seeon has to marry Horeun’s youngest prince, Mika, and be his second wife.
After Seeon arrives in Horeun, he learns how different the two countries are. The plan changes again, and this time, a God smiles.
The story can make its reader sad, disgusted, hopeful, happy, and everything in between. Unfortunately, there won’t be a second part, even when you desperately want to know more about this exciting world, its people, and gods, as comicfan (Wayne) passed much too early in the summer of 2021. You have to weave the story further in your head.

    Weekly Wrap Up
    Hellooooo!
    How is everybody  ?
First off, can you shout out your love to Cia this week? You probably didn't notice, but she used her magic powers and went in and put in the stories of the week in last week's blog and published it  I'm hoping she will be able to help me out this week too!
This weekend, I got convinced last weekend, when I probably could claim I was not of a clear mind and not to be held responsible for anything I committed too , to do something questionable.
It turns out a bunch of friends every year go out on a guys camping trip to the Rocky Mountains. They are doing it on Mother's Day weekend so I haven't quite figured that out. Are they giving their wives and mothers a few days away from them?  Where we have gone camping is not covered by cell phone coverage. We are due back today, early Sunday, so maybe they will make it up this afternoon or evening. I'll let you know the reasons behind this weekend though.
So, in case you forgot, and I'm going to be careful as some don't feel this way. Oh, did you know that incase isn't a word  Wait, I got distracted . Here is what I wanted to say :

My mommy is gone, but i still call my sisters on Mother's Day. So if there is someone that is a mother that you like, drop them a call, visit them, or just say something like, "Hey, Great Job Mom!"
So curious what everyone is doing this weekend? Any big plans? Are any plans a secret ? I guess you can't post here, because it wouldn't be a secret anymore. I seem to have a bit of trouble with secrets as I'm always wondering how I can find out who wrote a secret author contest entry to narrow it down .
We had a good week behind us, I think  IMHO.
Monday, Cia gave us an all new CSR Feature:
Tuesday, Myr was seen walking along the shores of Lake Ontario pinning for the days when he can run into the lake to do a true deep dive. No fiction to be added to this story:
Thursday, there was a lot of chatter around the latest Author Guess Who? I think 3 names have put been put forward with a lot of assurance, but I'm not sure. How about you? Do you know who this mystery person is? Aaron won't tell me, because it falls in the category of guess what, a secret :
Friday, we had a return to our normal broadcasting schedule with a new Prompt Event. Valkyrie and Aditus are trying the End game again  I have to say this time I read it and I understood it right away ! If I can understand it, any rock on the ground can too :

Now for a summary of all the Words of the Day:
umber, articulate, mesmerize, orifice, demure, numismatics, scoff

    Weekly Wrap Up
Let's throw things in the mixer and mix things up this week . Well not mix, but let's look at a mirror image of the past week.
Now for the big news this week, that many have been waiting for. In fact there would not be any GA if it wasn't for the guy that we are holding our annual Anthology for this week. A huge thank you to all the authors that contributed this year. Without you, his memory might fade away  .
Make sure you stop by, read and leave a comment or two! He will be missed, but if you ever read anything by Comicality, then you need to look at the bonus feature at the bottom of the Anthology. Enjoy !

Wednesday, Val kept us up to date on the upcoming events here at GA for writing. Still over 1/2 the year to go and still 3 events to go, at least! Check them all out here:
Jump on back to Tuesday, and there was a lot of mystery going on with Myr's Deep Dive :
Monday, Cia brought us a great CSR Discussion Day with a great author! I learned a lot about him in his interview:

Since we did the blogs backwards, why not for S&G  look at the Words of the Day in reverse order too!
intelligible, encumbered, askew, cognizant, nomenclature, behest.
Did anyone else notice we didn't have a WOTD on Tuesday  I know the big guy is having a lot of stuff going on, so hoping everyone gives him a hug and a pass.
Maybe not make a pass at him .
Well, who knows. Maybe he will like that  Go ahead, make a pass at him  Hey Myr, you're looking sexy today   .

Now usually I start with a preamble, so this is my first official postamble
I am hoping that I can convince Cia or Myr to insert the stories below because I can tell you for a fact, I probably have been poured out of a Uber and may or may not have made it home after the International Beerfest being held on Saturday. Being in the top five Beerfests in the world, with an even larger line up this year, in a much expanded event centre, with over 200 vendors, I have set a goal to try every single one of them ! If I succeeded, it was nice knowing you all .
My only wish is that I could get @Daddydavek up here and I'm sure the two of us could make a good dent in the place! Brad will be there as well, btw.
May 2 brought us great weather, with today around 26C or 78.8F ( @Bill W, I double checked my numbers ) and Saturday around 30C/86F, it is a good thing I will be in air conditioned comfort, except for the fifteen block stumble to the bar we go to after for food and ... more beer .
Just happened that my yearly physical was on Thursday and my doctor asked how much I drink and I told him very little in a month, in honesty, under four beers a month. I did however inform him of my upcoming drunkenness and his reply was that I'm allowed that once a year, and he might see me down there
I hope nobody here is offended about me talking about tomorrow like a drunken fool . I don't promote this to anyone but me .
So how about you, do you partake in causal festivals surrounded around food or alcohol? I do have to mention since cannabis has been legal in Canada for like what, ten years now, that they have their own festivals too! I think I want to make it to Bavaria in Germany around October. Not sure why, just hear they have a pretty big party over there .  I know there is wine festivals, spirit festivals, bbq festivals, pie festivals, exotic cuisine festivals, ethnic festivals, and so on. Do you go to any yourself? Tell me about them.
Okay, let's rap ( or wrap  ) things up. Anyone want to give me a beat? I'm so white and old

    Weekly Wrap Up
    Sunburn anyone?

What is the rule #1 of when you have the first day above 20C/50F with the sun higher in the sky of Spring?
    Burn baby burn!
    I think not !
So, that kind of happened today and luckily it didn't really burn me, just a little bit of colour on my face, arms, and legs. In Canada, anything over 0C/32F is shorts weather, so normally I was shorting today .
I did have an enjoyable 'me' day though. Got a massage, an adjustment (not on my attitude, you're out  of luck ), had a nice breakfast, went for a walk, did some stuff around the condo and then met up with a friend for a nice dinner out . I'm off the next week in a use 'em or lose  'em vacation situation so no real plans. Maybe start exercising everyday now that the weather has turned for the better.
I got invited to a learn how to skate program next week for amputees. I couldn't attend in January so I think I will go and see if I can sign up this time. Watch for me in next years Stanley Cup Playoffs . Maybe not as a player but maybe a rink rat cleaning the ice .
I can't believe this is the end of April, and May is starting this week 😮. So summer plans are in the air. I finally received a new grill for my BBQ so will have to get that going in the next week. Maybe invite some people over for some beers and burgers. Beers are optional .
Any plans yourself for this upcoming month? I know Canada and Britain have Victoria Day long weekend coming up, but around my area that just means snow The Americans have their May long weekend the week after, and that is usually a warmer weekend up here, so I'm going camping to the mountains the week after. I should also ask people like @Graeme, @Paladin, @Mark Ponyboy Peters and @quokka, who all live at the bottom of the earth , what they are doing for the fall and winter. Or are they in areas where it is just nice out year round  Bugggers  (can I say that jokingly or does it mean something really nasty down under ?).
I guess I have probably bored everyone with my boring life and such, so shall we move onto the excitement?
Monday, it was Signature Author Day and Cia picked a good one:
Tuesday, Myr got more than his toes in the water for his Deep Dive:
Wednesday, Cia was back to bring us the Signature Author Excerpt to tease us all into reading:

    Weekly Wrap Up
Well Happy Easter if you celebrate
Well Happy Passover if you celebrate
Well Happy Long Weekend for everyone else  Unless you don't get a long weekend and then in that case
I was looking at the calendar and noticed that April is just 2/3rds gone  I really haven't seen too much spring signs other than the snow gone. We are dry, really dry and grass fires seem to pop up here and there. We have precipitation in the forecast but it really isn't enough . Long hot summer coming, but how can you look forward to that when you can't probably breath due to forest fire smoke!
Okay Steve, move onto the positive  For those that do celebrate Easter, in not necessarily the religious realm, but maybe more the commercial one, how was your childhood? Did you wake up for an Easter Egg hunt? I did, but the deal was my sisters got the chocolate eggs, which I had to leave if I found, and I got the hard boiled coloured eggs . My sisters seemed more than willing to leave those for me . Growing up as a diabetic, I did have different rules. I guess the good news is today, I imagine that with the medications and delivery methods you can now search for the chocolate ones too  But what about you? This is a late Easter this year. In my neck of the woods it is usually wet or snowing so hunts were done indoor at home. I hear about outdoor easter egg hunts but around here they are only usually at the dog parks . They'll eat anything
We should just move along into the Weekly Wrap Up at this point of time. There was way too many emoticons in that last run on paragraph .
Monday, Parker Owens from the Review Team presented a pretty in depth and interesting story review:
Tuesday was Myr's look into the Horror genre :

    The Roaming Sea
    by mcarss

In high school history class, we learn about the Hundred Years War.  GA author Mike Carss (mcarss) writes for us a fantasy about a similar war between peoples so dissimilar that mutual hatred and distrust seem to seep from every line of the story.
Ironically, mcarss sets us up for the story well away from the crashing, terrifying oceans which circle this world. Instead, we are met at a military camp, and seen through the eyes of Callum Hidaro, the war is bloody, brutal and endless. A sudden surprise attack from the enemy, the giant Pactrids, disturbs Callum’s journey home, and, through the metaphysical agency of transport,  he is suddenly deposited in a deep green forest far behind enemy lines. All too soon, Callum is captured by a Pactrid, and is held prisoner.
Thus begins a novella of journey and discovery, of realization and truth, of change and love. This ordeal will take Callum Hidaro beyond all the boundaries he has ever known. One of the best aspects of thisstory is the way in which mcarss deals with the everyday metaphysics of this world he constructs. For each of the species we encounter, human and Pactrid, certain acts and attributes are not described as magical, but as matters of fact.  Something taken for granted by one may be mysterious to the other, yet neither takes such things as wizardry, but as something to be better understood.  For instance, the Pactrids cannot fathom the human’s ability to transport themselves almost instantaneously via the agency of an adept, yet it is a unique attribute to the human kind, not a magical sort of thing at all.
What matters more is the alchemy that develops between captor and captive. Callum and his Pactrid warder must learn to communicate, to eat and sleep, and to adapt to one another as they travel to a place where the human prisoner may be properly kept. Callum turns out to be hardier than his Pactrid adversary anticipates, and prouder, too. Slowly, each learns to respect the other, and to understand the other.  When Callum grasps the truth of the bloody, endless war that claimed the lives of so many he loved, he must come to grips with action he must take.
As his journey continues, Callum comes to realize the enemy he must escape is not his Pactrid, but the lies by which he has steered his life. The tale takes surprising and dramatic turns, and Callum Hidaro must face a future he never imagined.
I urge you to switch off your streaming service, pull up a chair or sprawl out on the sofa.  Take the time to join Callum on his path, and read this engrossing story by a talented GA author.  There’s a whole new world waiting with every turn of the page.

    Weekly Wrap Up
Who has a cold that won't go away 🙋‍♂️
It has been a week. I'm sick of water, I'm sick of Vitamin C, I'm sick of decongestants, I'm sick of everyone giving me suggestions on what to do  None of them work.
Anyhow, how is everyone doing?  Can't bring the mood of the Weekly Wrap Up down afterall
I was looking at the south Pacific looking where a place was in a article I was reading and I saw Guam on the map. So, have you ever been to Guam? Didn't planes from North America stop in Guam to go to Australia back when the planes didn't hold enough fuel? Probably before my time
So that gave me the question of the week  What strange or unusual place have you been to, that probably you never really thought was strange and unusual. To others though, it would be.
I had to think on that one myself. I guess I have one place like that. Ran out of gas just outside of the old Candlestick Park in South San Francisco after a Giants baseball game. Why it is unusual is that I don't think that you will find it advertised on any tour maps as a place to visit  Just it was a glimpse into probably one of the sadest places in America and at the time was in the top 3 murder areas in the US . Now if you want to know why 3 guys and a gal ran out gas in this district when the game was long over and there was not much other traffic, that is another story. But just remember that I'm here, I think, thanks to a couple of guardian angels.
So where is your strange place in the world have you been? Is there a story behind it? Make us all walk around with our mouths agape after reading about it .
Now onto our regular scheduled weekly program, and what a week it was!
Monday, Cia introduces us to the April CSR. It is from one of my all time favourite series:
Tuesday, Myr was tiptoeing through the tulips with his ukulele getting ready for his latest Deep Dive:

    Weekly Wrap Up
Just rolled in at 1:30 AM local time! No, I was not out drinking with Brad. Ironically I was at Brad's playing poker . Not high stakes poker, but the kind that a bunch of guys, all of them married but me, and I the token gay guy, get together and and have a drink and play some rounds and bs and rib each others 🎴. Needless to say I contributed my $20 for 2 games and came home with nothing
One guy there was telling us of how he is starting an online business auctioneering things, and he was trying to come up with an eye grabbing, attention grabbing, name that would stick in your head for a while. After we got through the rude and crude names, it was an interesting brain stoming at a poker game, where probably 5 of the 8 were a wee bit intoxicated and me, I was stone cold sober!
That got me to thinking on the way home, how I could relate something from the game to our weekly wrap up  So here it goes. What stories title do you think grabbed your attention most here at GA? I will take out my story, "Why is your underwear at the bottom of the pool?" out of contention of voting  I just wanted to give you an idea of the title that maybe stuck out the most to you. It doesn't have to be brash or bizarre, maybe your are a romantic and something with love in the title attracted you. I'm curious what your thoughts are
Okay, I will start it off. @Dodger's "Cockney Canuck" always and still does draw my attention. I know of a few others, but I do want to take them away from others coming up with them .
What do you all think about me moving onto the Weekly Wrap Up? I see all 7 of you in the audience with your hands up. 🖕 Oh, that wasn't your hand, that was only your middle finger  How rude
Monday, being the last day of March, Cia had a great interview with the CSR featured author of the month. Check it out:
Tuesday, with a bit of a nip in the air, Myr went Deep Diving:
Thursday, Valkyrie gave us ample time to consider your Comicality tribute stories to celebrate not only the first hosted author on site, but what would have been his birthday:
On Friday, Valkyrie came back to the show with an all new Prompts Friday in celebration of NaPoWriMo:

For the Words of the Day, I was so excited I might actually get all 7. Then Saturday came
vacillate, ostracize, angst, gaffe, iridescent, escalate, vagary

    Weekly Wrap Up
    THEY LIED
2 - 4 cm my derriere!!! (Don't see that word used much anymore)
I wake up and have to leave the house to find about 10" of the white stuff fell overnight. Thinking I had a lot of time to get to my first appointment  I didn't really get up early enough to go 4X4ing through the snow and slush that covered the roads. No plows, no sanding, it is the joy of living in Calgary at the end of March and through April. It is warm enough that most of the snow melts within 24 hours or so on the road. They have already starting street sweeping the sand and gravel up after the winter, so they don't want to put down more.
    So said appointment  ...
Last year a bought a new car, was supposed to be my final big purchase before I eased off into the sunset  Then I got a phone call from the dealer on Thursday and they were offering a deal that I could not refuse. A brand new 2025 model for less than what I paid last year, and they were paying off my vehicle last year as they have no used car inventory. So went in and check out the vehicle and the upgrades from a year ago was quite a bit.
So last year I told everyone I bought a new vehicle because I didn't want to do the spring cleaning. well looks like I didn't want to do it again  Now don't get me wrong, I'm not a rich man. Just I happened to be in the right place in the right time. So I shall be working to at least the age of 80 .
Maybe this summer I will drive down and visit Krista in my new car
Now for the big news of the week:
Get your 2025 Poetry Anthology entries in for Diversity!! Please load everything up by the EOD on Sunday, March 30th. Today! Then, April is Poetry Month. So let's see how you all will be celebrating it!! More info below.
Now I usually ponder a question for you active Weekly Wrap Up readers, to ponder yourselves. If you can pick one genre, only one, what would you say is your favourite one? Also why? Nice and simple  !
Onto the Wrap Up of the weeks staff and volunteer blogs.
Monday, it was??? What? Did someone forget to post a blog ? Oh wait, it seems on months that we have more weeks than blogs, we miss a Monday. Looks like last week was one of those weeks.
Tuesday we kicked off the week with Myr diving deep down into the Fantasy genre:
Then on Thursday, in case you missed it, it was the big reveal in the Author Guess Who? Did you guess right?
Wow, I had an easy week  Finally on Friday, we had the Prompt Team introduce a new Author  that tackled the new Prompts from the week before:

It was a mixed bag of Words of the Day for me this week:
deluge, tepid, aquiline, slovenly, affect, effect, recrimination

    Weekly Wrap Up
Oh Lordy, lordy! What day is it? When trying to put in the title of the Weekly Wrap Up it took me about 5 times until I looked at the calendar on the bottom right of my computer.

Yes, when most of North America and the rest of the world have flipped the calendar to March 23rd, I'm still stuck in the 22nd  I guess the great thing that happened a few days ago was that Spring has sprung 🌈. In my neck of the woods that means that April and May snowstorms bring June flowers .
So I opened up my pantry and pulled a bag of flour of the top shelf and noticed the streak in the dust that was left  After my pancakes, I decided it was time to start some spring cleaning. Funny, you'd think after all these years of living, I'd figure if you did cleaning every day and week, you'd have no spring cleaning come every spring  Slow learner I guess
I was chatting with someone and they asked me what I did tonight? Back in the day, I imagine I would say things like went to a bar, went on a date, went to a movie, turned a trick or two , or something fun. But no, I did none of those things. I did my taxes I'm of the age that I get excited to see if I get a refund or have to pay and I'm happy to say it is a refund. Once again, I couldn't claim any wages as an escort as my pimp, she takes 100% of my earnings. Also didn't know if the sexy undies that I buy can be claimed as a business expense. Any tax experts out there?
Now, I would be remiss once again, to not mention you have a little over 1 week to get in your Poetry Anthology with the theme of Diversity into the team. You can find out all the information HERE.
Rather than ask a specific question this week, what do you want to discuss. I can't answer everything  but make a statement of what you did and ask me any questions related
    Now onto the Wrap Up.
Monday, Cia brought us an all new Signature Author Feature! Go here to download a neat signature logo:
Tuesday, Myr went diving once again. Want to see what he came up with?

Then on Thursday, Val was up to some fun and games on the Anthology Blog:
Friday as always, was a new rendition of our Prompts:

apocryphal, shillelagh, epicurean, ribald, aloof, scuttle, temerity

Well only a week to go to St. Paddy's day, which means we are well on our way to the middle of March. So before we hit that, let's check out the great review done up this week by Chris:
    The Wig Heist
    by Rafy
    Reviewer: chris191070
    Status: Complete
    Word Count: 4,745

It's not your usual type of story as it features Drag Queens. We have Delilah who works at the Velvet Peacock when disaster strikes.
We then are treated to a wonderful when Coco, grabs her pen, pad and sequened trenchcoat and starts searching for clues.
So we have five drag queen with tantrums, catfights, and comedic revelations.
All of this over a missing wig.
You really need to read this if you are after a comedy, caper who-dunnit mystery.
You will be rolling around in laughter from these over the top Drag Queens.

Category: Fiction  Genres: Comedy, Mystery  Sub-genres: Comedy Modern, Detective  Tags: urban, no sex, light-hearted, modern  Rating: Everyone

    Weekly Wrap Up
It is time for my bi-annual reminder to change your clocks if you are in a area that does that . This is the start of Daylight Savings Time, so that means we are springing forward and losing one hour of sleep. In preparation, I had a nice nap this afternoon
A question for you. I can't ask what age you are, as that is a no no in today's internets  so please don't supply it !! But I'm more curious when you retire, if you are retired, does the time switch mess you up? I know a lot of retired people have a set routine that they follow in order to carry on without havoc to their internal clocks, but I think of my dad who was all over the place on getting up at a certain time, and wondered if it affected retired people as much as maybe people that have a scheduled work week? I do know a lot of people work for themselves and they set their hours, so maybe they fit in the retired group too.
Now one important thingy to bring up before I forget. We only have 21 days before you Poetry Anthology is due . This years theme is Diversity! I'm curious to see how such a word of such vast interpretation is handled by our different poets. Experienced and not so experienced. We want to see them all!
    Now onto the Wrap!
Monday, Cia had to get the ball rolling for Monday, with an all new Can't Stop Reading feature:
Then on Tuesday, Myr came in and dressed in his assless chaps (yes, I know all chaps are assless ), he brought a Deep Dive:
We then took Wednesday as a day of rest until Val revved up her engines to get everyone going on the Poetry Anthology on Thursday:
Finally on Friday, Aditus brought us a couple of new Prompts. You need to write a letter to someone :

Finally Myr did his Myr thing and brought us seven new Words of the Day:
beleaguer, ornate, labyrinthine, heuristic, rejuvenate, solace, reticent

    Weekly Wrap Up
I'm writing this blog on Saturday, so it happens to be World Compliment Day. Now most are reading it on Sunday, so let's pretend it is still Saturday . Now I handed out a lot of personal compliments today, but then @Valkyrie replied and ruined my day! How rude!! I do think I am above her taunts and meaniness, so let me move forward and compliment each and everyone of you that help make GA a great place to be! You may not realize it, but even the smallest things like joining and coming to visit, throw out a like or two, or even more like commenting, reviewing. posting, writing a story, all contributes to the community. So way to go!!  You are the best!!!
Oh, for the record @Valkyrie came back and complimented me too  She is now forgiven
What else happened this week. I think it was Wednesday when the night before when I went to bed, it was -37 C or -34.6 F and woke up in the morning it was + 4 C or 39.2 F 😮. My nose was bleeding due to the 40+ degree change and the air pressure with it. Snow, what snow? That was a thing of the past  . I am not going to count my chickens before they hatch though, we are definitely not in spring. Although this confuses things. @Slytherin friends, the bears, will be thinking it is time to wake up and begin to forage . Trees will start to get buds and hopefully not open, or the buds will freeze on the next cold snap and fall off and die .
Now to finish up on a happy note. I went to Denny's last week with some family, and found out that I got a Senior's discount  Should I be happy, or mad? You decide.
So what happened in the past week at the GA News Blog?
Monday, Cia thought it was a great time to have the CSR Discussion Day:
Tuesday, our trusty leader did a Deep Dive on this genre:
Thursday, Val did a check in on all the upcoming Anthologies. How are you coming along?
Finally on Friday, Val and Aditus were back to discuss a new Prompt Feature they launched a few weeks ago. Check it out and leave a comment if you liked it:

Now how did you y'all do ( or is ya'll?) on the Words of the Day? BTW, I thought I was feeling pretty hansom today . I guess I never got them all
bliss, capricious, inauspicious, bacillus, quahog, hansom, deleterious

    Weekly Wrap Up
Hi everyone! Not sure what happened last week where some said they got two different blogs for the Weekly Wrap-Up, but I didn't. Are you all sure you weren't out late at a pub/bar the night before you got home . Perhaps with Brad and Steve?
Now I know that sports sometimes flies in GA like a lead balloon, but humour me  Over that past week or so, instead of a NHL All-Star Game and break, they got the 4 most represented countries (less Russia) in the NHL, and had a tournament called the 4 Nations Cup. It was a fun week and people in Norway, Sweden, USA and Canada that were hockey fans, and some not, got to cheer on their countries .
Like so much of late, it turned out to be the USA with 1 more point playing Canada for the Championship game in Boston. Both countries top players all played like their life depended on it. Usually all star games involve no hitting or really any contact, this tournament was full on defending national pride. The first US and Canada game had 3 fights in the first 9 seconds  . They were some of the biggest names in the game. I know some don't like fighting in hockey, and everyone is entitled to their opinion. Just an example to see how ramped up both teams there was amazing.
At the end of regulation time, the game was tied at 2. So it went to sudden death overtime. In the first overtime period, the US dominated Canada and spent most their time in the Canadian zone and only our goalie stopped the US from getting the final point. Then, on one breakout down the ice by the Canadians, and this really, really, really really pains me to say, but the best player in the world scored Canada's tournament winning goal.
So I'm curious, how many of you watch hockey ? Did you watch any of this tournament?
I'll just finish off saying there may or may not have been some political undertones to the tournament, but we won't talk about them here  Instead if you want to, there is the Pit and your personal blogs to do that in.
Enough about hockey Onto the Wrap Up.
Monday, I got to change my signature on my posts  It was Cia introducing the Signature Feature of the Month:
Tuesday, it would be safe to say that Myr went out of this world on some of his Deep Dive stories featured:
Wednesday, Cia came back with the Signature Feature Excerpt:
Thursday, there was no Valkyrie  Instead we were pleased to see that Aaron was by to look for some victims volunteers:
On Friday, I can 100% confirm, Aditus was by with a couple of new Prompts :
Wow, what a busy week!! I didn't include the Weekly Update from last Sunday, but we had 6 blogs in 7 days !

Just when you might think that is enough, no, Myr was by daily with the Words of the Day. How did you do this week and knowing them?
evocative, antagonistic, convivial, cajole, audacious, meanderning  ambiance

    Weekly Wrap Up
    What up, guyz?
Don't you like old men that try to talk like they are young? Oh wait, do we have any young people here ? I guess when I think young, I think of like 20 and under, not sure why. Actually I do, I guess I don't consider myself that old. They say you are only as old as you feel. I guess I am older when I get up in the morning and then I'm back to a teenager as the day gets later, watching late night talk shows at night, and then wondering why I feel so old in the morning .
I guess that is a sign of me being really old if I still watch TV
Really what does it matter the age, and if it does matter, is anyone going to listen to you if you complain about it  So, are you like me and mid life? I'm still waiting for a mid-life crisis. Who has had one? Are you willing to admit it, and what you did?
Well let's get to the news, the GA News Blog that is.
Monday, due to technical issues, mainly me , we eventually had a great review by our super Review Team:
If you are maybe looking for some poetry to inspire your upcoming Poetry Anthology, maybe check out Myr's Deep Dive:
On Thursday, Valkyrie got us focused again on the upcoming Poetry Anthology:
Finally on Friday, Val and Aditus got together to get all you love birds  in the mood for Valentines Day! How? They have a new type of Prompt challenge for you all. Check it out:

Did you get any of the sick Words of the Day?
inundate, elicit, euphonious, reframe, abrogate, redolent, insipid

Finally on Friday, Val and Cole got together to get all you love birds  in the mood for Valentines Day! How? They have a new type of Prompt challenge for you all. Check it out:

Did you get any of the sick Words of the Day?
inundate, elicit, euphonious, reframe, abrogate, redolent, insipid

    Bonds Unbroken
    by Cia
    Reviewer: W_L
    Status: Complete
    Word Count: 34,110
If you’re looking for an action-packed story with a straightforward plot, engaging characters, and the promise of a larger world featuring “partial”-shifters, then you’re in for a treat from Cia, one of GA’s renowned authors. In this universe, shifters retain the characteristics of their animal forms in a humanoid body, a concept sure to delight fans of animal-human hybrids. Although this story was originally written between 2010 and 2011, it still reads beautifully, offering nuances not often found in this genre.
The main character, Velaku—a Falcon-shifter—is the presumptive heir of his people and some of the Carthera (the collective name for shifter species) following the murder of his father by humans and a potential traitor. His lover and soulmate, Natham, is a Lynx-shifter, essentially a cat. Natham’s backstory adds complexity to the plot, and when you learn what happened to him—along with the circumstances surrounding Velaku’s father’s murder—it’s hard not to feel a deep sense of despair. The novelette also hints at corruption and betrayal among both Carthera and human authorities, though these elements remain only briefly explored in this short, 11-chapter, 34,110-word adventure.
I highly recommend it as a light read for anyone who enjoys a simple but captivating tale. Cia later expands on several concepts introduced here in longer sequel novels, making this story feel like an appetizer that whets your appetite for the broader universe. It’s a world well worth exploring for fans of Cia and the genre.
Category: Anthology 2013 - Spring  Genres: Romance, Paranormal  Sub-genres: Paranormal Romance, Shifters  Tags: teen, were-creatures, urban, dark, modern  Rating: Mature

    Weekly Wrap Up
    Interesting day I had today
First went to a ringette game on one side of the city. Then off off to a flag football game in the central area of the city. Then to a youngins, U14 hockey game in the south side of the city. Finally a Junior B hockey game outside of the city in a neighbouring city. Two games my team won, two they tied. Now you get to guess which were the ties and the wins . Oh, I did come home after.
I was thinking on my drive home that I need to get traveling. I realized that other than the US of A and Canada, I've not gone anywhere. Now I do know some people that have never left their own province, state or country. So I want to know how many different countries have you been to? I imagine we are going to have someone that worked in a diplomatic service and will list like 100 countries, but wouldn't it be cool to sit down with them and get a little bit of information on all of them
Since I was born in West Germany, yes I'm that old , I'd like to go visit Germany. Maybe the UK, I guess I have some distant relatives there that my sisters are in contact with from my Dad's side of the family. In Scotland I think. Don't hate me if you are from England, Wales, or Northern Ireland  I'll throw haggis at you
There is lots of other places I'd like to go to, but I'm more curious about you. So after telling me where you have been, tell me one place only that you want to go. BTW, I know I'm going to H E double hockey sticks, so I don't need to know if I will meet you there.
So did anything new and exciting happen this week at the GA News Blogs? I don't know what you all checked out, but we had a visit from a long time ago blog  Just kidding  We did have a full week so make sure you check out all these great ones.
Monday, Cia dropped by with an all new CSR Feature. Check out who it is and what story of theirs:
Myr on Tuesday did not tell a lie. He featured Non-Fiction in his Deep Dive:
It was kind of nice to see Aaron back with another edition of AAA 3.0:
Thursday, Valkyrie took another stab at getting us in the mood for the upcoming Poetry Anthology:
Friday, Aditus came out with a couple of new Prompts on Friday:

I had mix results on the Words of the Day:
herbivore, ephemeral, sanctimonious, draconian, adulation, nauseous, sedan

    Weekly Wrap Up
Oh well, at least February is only 28 days this year I find February the most boring month of the year. We are about to head into the -20 to -30 C or -12 to 18 F this upcoming week  That might be why I hate it.
Have to tell my annual February joke too! If you are a farmer, you cannot look at it  No posting it in the chat below either
As I mention the weather, someone I know said I chose to live here . When I thought about it, I came to the realization at the age I am, I have chosen to live here . Yes, it is occasionally cold, once every 100 years we get a bad flood and we have summers with hail and the odd tornado, but in general I don't have much to complain about in my neck of the woods. I did try moving up to 3 1/2 hours away from my family, but that was one of the factors to move back.
I have visited places that are nice, and unfortunately they have some drawbacks that I probably wouldn't make me want to live there. Hawaii, love it . But the occasional typhoon, volcanos, but most depressing is the cost to live there. Even if I had the money, I don't know if I would live there all the time.
So here is the big questions of the week, something that I didn't get around to last week. Where you live now, is it where you want to be living? Or is there things keeping you there that prevents you from leaving? Two more questions, if you would want to live somewhere else, where would that be? No, Val, you cannot move in with me to watch Corner Gas reruns and attend all the events at Spruce Meadows . Lastly, if you are happy where you are, what makes you want to stay there?
Now back to what they pay me the big bucks for 💰. Let us get to the Weekly Wrap Up!
Monday, Cia I think took the Word of the Day, Equine, and made it into the CSR Discussion Day for an author that may like a horse or two :
Tuesday was all Myr's. This week he did a Deep Dive into the Mystery Genre:
Thursday, Val popped by to talk about our upcoming Poetry Anthology with the theme of Diversity. Check it out, it was a fun discussion:
Friday, Val came back with a couple of fun prompts for Prompt Friday:

    Words of the Day:
piscine, equine, feline, canine, nostalgic, cacophonous, carnivore

    Weekly Wrap Up
Who's on holidays? Me  Who has nothing really to do on holidays? Me .
What should I do on my 2 weeks off? I should do some reading  . Maybe some cleaning  . I'm bored already
What do you all think I should do? I want to fly down to the states and visit Krista but she has a very, very, very long list on how she will kill me if I ever show up . We were discussing why I think she can get a side by side for the family, and I said how else will she get my body out to the back forty and she said with the recent cold, she'd just get the dogs to drag my body out there 😢
    No flying to see Krista.
Just as a PSA, in case you have been having some issues on site, we have been having some undesirable acts of failed attempts being tried to penetrate our servers. Rather than let them in and take up residence, @Myr has employed a new security suite to keep us and everything on site safe. Sort of like a giant condom surrounding GA . There are hiccups though, so make sure you read the grey bar at the top and see that we would like you to post with a URL and what you are trying to do in the Help topic. Myr has been superfast in getting things fixed, but even he needs to sleep. Please have patience if he doesn't answer you right away!
Now what has happened in the GA News Blog the past week.
Monday, Tim, our fearless leader of the Site Review Team went and compiled a list of all the stories reviewed in 2024. Check them out!
