You did a great job redeeming your Predator. When I first read the story, I had no idea how you would make that happen, but you did so quite well. I'm a sucker for a good redemption story and HEA and you delivered both. Thanks for sharing with us.
It's lovely, Gary. While I don't have kids, it reminded me of when I was doing renovations before moving into my current house. There's a room upstairs with a crawlspace off of it, and while I was too claustrophobic to go into it myself, my mom crawled in and found a set of tiny books. They looked to be from the '50s and were very colorful children's tales. I could just imagine how that space that looked so tiny to adults must have been a haven for small children. I can picture them curled up and reading or talking or playing or whatever their minds led them to contemplate. Whenever I move i'm going to make sure the books stay with the house. They're such little treasures. Thanks for the memory!
They're all great, Addy. I think we've all seen movies we'd rather forget. lol I really liked the line about the music invoking memories of the movie. There are some songs that are indelibly linked to movies/TV shows. I'll always think of "American Horror Story" when I hear "Dominique". *shudder* You have me imagining who I'd invite to sit in the Simic chair and converse with. Great job.
“I know who you are.”
I checked out my new co-worker, taking in details of his appearance without betraying the cold dread that settled in the pit of my stomach. He looked at me with a mixture of curiosity and fear, but I detected no judgment. He was taller than me and slightly pudgy. His crooked stance and crossed arms told me I could take him if I needed to. The exit to my right was clear, so I doubted I’d have to.
“That so?” I replied. “You get the gold star.”
“My roomma
Holy freaking crap! Yay, Ellie! I had to facepalm at Scott's inattentiveness. He knew that Kenny was on the ship and then the comment about the guy following too closely. I'll excuse him because he was tired and distracted by Graham. Dammit. I'm all caught up now. Great story, Parker.
Uh oh... I hope Graham doesn't think he just ran off. Maybe this is another way that Scott needs to come clean in order to move on? I'm almost caught up too. Damn...
I think this chapter shows how much Scott has truly changed. He's not hiding who he is/was. He needed to be honest with Graham or it would have never worked. I wouldn't blame Graham for walking away. I'm very curious to see what happens next. Great job, Parker!
I think I said this a few chapters ago, but things are going too well... something has to give. I'm liking this new side to Scott and hope his revelations are long-term. Graham is a sweetheart who doesn't deserve to get caught in the crosshairs of Scott's past. We'll see what happens. On to the next chapter....
Day 14
The Prompt is to write some absurdist prose poems.
Travelling one day, I encountered a three-headed duck with one leg hopping ahead of me. Intrigued, I followed it to see where it might lead. Its feathers were plain in comparison to the multi-colored stones littering the road before us, a perfect accompaniment to the flowing hues of the water, as it ebbed and flowed like refracted light through a prism.
It stopped abruptly, one head turning toward me in annoyance,
And he has a name! It's almost like he was baptized with the wave crashing over him and now the name revelation. My hat is off to you for making Scott redeemable. I still think there's going to be a lot more grit in this story, though. His past will catch up to him. He'll have to tell Graham at some point if he has any hope of making the relationship work. I really really really do not want Marquez to get his hands on Graham. Or Scott. And I loved the line about not boding well for science.
