  1. "Sparkle" is a great series. I'm really looking forward to reading more.
  2. I am planning on having two stories for this anthology. One is already completed and beta read. I need to make a few changes and then send it on to my editor. It incorporates both themes. The second one is in the planning stages. It will be another story in the Treehaven Woods universe and revolves around the "unintended consequences" theme. I don't usually write from an outline, but will jot down some notes and work from those.
  3. Thank goodness there's no algebra required... I freely admit to being perplexed by numbers, which is why I went into a language-based field. lol I have no idea about the mathematical concepts you write about, but most certainly appreciate your ability to bring life and poetry to something not typically considered poetic. My hat's off to you, sir.
  4. I can delete attachments now and my attachment allotment has increased. Thanks!

    Persistent

I liked this. You kept me guessing through the whole story, and that's a good thing. The narrator must have really loved his friend to have stood by him through his entire life. It's a great tale of hope and forgiveness. And also a tale of redemption, since the friend was able to turn his life around. I wonder how much was due to his friend's influence? Thanks for sharing.

  7. Check out the Bug Report thread in the Help and Announcement forum and that should address some of your concerns.

Damn, Parker... those were great! I think I need a cold shower now. lol
  9. :D Happy St. Patty's Day! :D

    In the Spotlight

Wow... so much in one chapter! I'm proud of Ben for not freaking out about the article. We'll still have to wait and see what the consequences are, though. Ben and Travis' relationship seems to be growing. I think my favorite part was when Ben put his hand on Travis' neck to calm him down. And then Travis claiming him as his own. It's clear there's something special. I'm rooting for them. I really am. I'm already salivating for the next chapter.
  11. I can really relate to the inability to vocalize and turning into a zombie and mannequin. People tend to think of only two responses to stress or danger: fight or flight. But there's a third reaction... freeze. Which is what happens to me during times of confrontation. I hope things are better for you since you wrote this.

    Chapter 11

I agree that this story should stand as is. I don't feel that anything is missing about Erik. We can get to know him better in the sequel. I understand that Ryan's not ready and needs to get his head screwed on straight. This was a heartbreaking chapter to read, though. I look forward to the sequel.
  13. I finished them all. There's some really good stories. Now to decide which one to vote for...

    Served Cold

At first I thought there was a gun in the bag, but then I thought that was too obvious. Like droughtquake, I then thought that he had written his own book, or else Franco had stolen one of his and published it as his own. I'm willing to bet that Franco's sales will plummet now--at least for anything new--and the protagonist will become a successful author in his own right. I loved the ending. Perfect! Great story!

    Happy Birthday!

What a cute story I had flashbacks to my own youth and the April Fool's pranks my family played on each other. I want to live in that cabin. It sounds lovely. I'm glad they got their happy ending. Nicely done, secret Jester!

    Getting Caught

I had a feeling that both Ryan and Ted were the pranksters. An occasional prank can be funny, but a constant barrage of them less so. I worked somewhere once where the guys all played pranks on each other. It was funny to a point. Less so when they interfered with getting work done. Ryan and Ted seem to be kindred spirits. I can only imagine the pranks they'll pull on each other. lol

    Fool's Gold

This is a very gritty story about a character whose actions make it difficult to feel empathy for him. In the beginning, I wondered if this story would take a bit of a fantasy turn--that Ray was was similar to Rumpelstiltskin in "Once Upon a Time". I had some sympathy for Ray about Morgan's loss, until it's revealed that he caused his lover's demise. I didn't see that coming! This was a nicely written story.

    Fool Me Once

I thought the limo was odd for a teacher's conference. lol I'm glad that Oliver's talk went well. I love how he was constantly looking for his briefcase. The ending was perfect. I have a feeling that Oliver will find a new job on the west coast. Now I want to go visit San Francisco, although I have a feeling the hills would kill me. lol Nice story.

    Downhearted

I loved this story. I have several individuals with Down syndrome on my caseload and they are some of the most amazing people I know. Their capacity for love and forgiveness should be something we all strive for. I appreciate seeing a story about a population that gets overlooked so often. Nicely done, secret author.

    Chasing Jayce

I thought the anticipation of meeting someone you've only known online for the first time was captured well. The joke was a bit cruel, and I wouldn't have blamed Andy for walking away when he found it was a joke. I think it would be an interesting story to explore the friendship that could have developed between Andy and the female "Jayce". Hopefully things will work out between them.
  21. Awesome! I can't wait to start reading!

    Downhearted

Peter clutched the white plastic grocery bag tightly in his thick fingers. He’d insisted on carrying it himself; the contents were too precious to trust inside his yellow Pikachu backpack. He held it on his lap during the entire bus ride to school, proud of himself for resisting the urge to peek inside, in case the envelopes spilled. It was Peter’s favorite holiday, and he had dressed for the occasion in his nicest black dress pants—carefully ironed by himself, with his mom supervising—and r
  23. An incredible act of "pay it forward". http://www.wgrz.com/news/local/stranger-buys-749-plane-ticket-for-distraught-fathers-toddler/421519965
  24. Oh they definitely could have. We all make mistakes though. I am planning a sequel to the story for Halloween this year. And as I hinted earlier, Max and Elliot may be making another appearance sometime this year. It's nice to know they have so many fans.
  25. Thanks again, everyone. Guess I should put a warning on "Vodka" to read during daylight hours... lol I wish I had more time to do the prompts, but my writing energy has been more focused on anthology stories, and next week I hope to start Chapter 20 of "The Hollow Hills".
