But they were expecting the band to be alone. They weren't expecting to encounter anyone else, let alone a group. So there were taken by surprise so he just raised the rifle and started shooting.
This is a good chapter. After giving us a couple of tense chapters, CJ gave use a breather before things start up again.
If this chapter had a cliffhanger ending, I didn't see it.
I'd hate to see what would happen if Shadowgod, CJ and Tiger got togethter to work on a round robin.
If you want a story with a high death count, read Dawn of Tears by dkstories.
Can't argue with you there, Benji. Finding the other bombs is more important. I think they will also want to keep the band and Helen safe as well. They are potential witnesses and the Generals know that it was an attempt on their lives.
The way I read it, Scar has one code while Dmitri has the other. There's that chance that Dmitri has the one for L.A so I can't see him blowing himself up at the moment.
As far as the Marines go in showing up. If a Military group shows up to protect the group, I think they will surround the house for awhile to see if anyone shows up to finish the job. Even tho they would want to capture them alive, Mario and Dmitri will put up a fight and and most likely die.
I also have to wonder if Helen mentioned Joe being related to Jerry when she told the story? That might lead the authorities to getting a picture of Jerry.
Another great chapter CJ. It kept me riveted to it despite the phone interruptions.

I was thinking about something before I got to this post. I remember reading somewhere, don't remember if it was in discussion somewhere, or a pm, but the story takes place sometime in the future. Not our current time. I can see the goat doing this to us.
At the moment of impact, Brandon wakes up from a very vivid dream and we find ourselves back at some earlier point in the story. Which would mean none of this happened.
I'll admit to it. The scene last scene between Brandon and Eric was touching. The way things look at the moment, they don't seem to have a snowballs chance in hell of getting out of this one.
As I told CJ in a pm, this chapter grabs you by the balls and doesn't let go.

And to think all that happened while the thrown wrench only traveled five inches from Vlad's hand. If you haven't seen the after effects for awhile, I suggest Terminator 2: Judgment Day. AMC's been showing it and it shows the effects of the blast.
What puzzles me is this,
