Yes, feelings are still there. After all, they were very involved in a very emotional time of their lives. Yet, they are both adults now with ten years of growth behind them. Troy made a promise to Owen after saying that Miles was the past and Owen is his future. They have spent several years together. They each need to come clean about their feelings, and move on. Can they put their feelings in their proper place or will they get caught up in remembrance of the past and hope that is enough to build a future on? Either way, love involves making a decision to choose the person and the future they want to build.

Though I have personal reservations about some of the issues as I have said before in my comments, I will say this story is well constructed, beautifully written, and a HEA of a different nature.

I agree with all the notes above. You are certainly a wonderful and gifted writer, @Mark Ponyboy Peters. As far as I am concerned, Thompsonville is a city where I'd love to visit! Levi needs to talk with Father Costas about his religious conflict with masturbation.

Lucien has nothing to fear in a friendship between Adrien and Eli: jealousy is ugly. But then again, Lucien possesses Eli as "mine, mon coeur..." He could learn something from Eli too!

It is done. Eli is human no more. What is his future going to be like now?

Eli has never known the freedom that allowed him to fully flourish as a human being. He thought he had started experiencing true community, respect and care when adopted into the Vespers. He now has given himself to Lucien and has felt a love that makes him one with someone else. I'm not sure he has fully comprehended what his future really will be: looking for feedings from living humans, avoiding the sunlight, existing for centuries...

I started getting up at 5 while in High School and did so for the next 50 years! I've been retired for 11 years and have only begun sleeping in to 6-6:30 in the last year! I was at my desk for work usually by 6:15 a.m.

Kurtis has impeccable manners and is quite comfortable around adults of authority. I'm glad that the Major has the wheels in motion against Bernie. I don't think Kurtis is going to have to worry about his mother's ability to survive after Bernie is gone!

I certainly agree with @CincyKris that Levi seems to have relinquished the chains of his grandfather's teachings, thankfully. His care for Jamie definitely is helping him to develop fraternal care for Jamie. I don't think we've seen the last of Casey's deeds. Dan's "educating" Levi about gaydar has planted a firm seed in Levi's brain! He feels more solid having a name for what he has been questioning. His becoming very comfortable with Tim and Guy and Matt and Luke has been a great step for him.

It may just be my own beliefs, but I really don't like the possessiveness that Lucien has towards Eli. All along, he has kept repeating "Mine"...but now it seems even more serious. They won't be partners, but rather Eli will be his possession.

I was not clear - I know that every founding family's death is required, but it suddenly hit me that this might also be the end of Lucien? Might that be a possibility?

And what is that ending? The death of Remy or more? Will the chapel suddenly collapse?

There is first love and there is mature love. Of course Troy and Miles still have strong feelings/love for one another. But they have gone in different directions and have new goals in their lives. Will this cause a bump in the relationship with Owen and Troy - of course it will. However, Troy will have to confront his deepest feelings. A talk with Dad seems necessary!

Neil took the initiative to buy rings and envision a future together. Though Alex hoped that was what should be, it took Neil's journey to confidence to achieve it. Wonderful story!

Levi's true heart is showing: he is a caring individual who is living the positive side of the religion he holds dear. I hope nothing happens between Levi and Casey other than Casey being found guilty of arson and Levi exonerated. Still, Levi was driving and Matt, Luke and he know the full truth.

I'm eager to see how all the killings, etc., get accomplished. So many things could go wrong.
