The writing is absolutely wonderful! The pacing allows us readers to truly follow the process of grieving that both are going through, though Liam's process has been the main focus so far. He is finally cracking and allowing life and vulnerability to appear once again.
-
Liam is slowly cracking through the protective shell he has surrounded himself. His spending the evening with Sean and Rod was a great start. That Adrian showed up on the hike was pure coincidence but Liam's attitude shift is allowing him to begin to truly see Adrian. His life is moving on in spite of his former resistance.

Chapter 3 - Coincidence
pvtguy commented on ChromedOutCortex's story chapter in Chapter 3 - Coincidence
This is one of the most accurate and emotional descriptions of grief I have ever read! As a former counselor, I applaud your presentation! Superb chapter! -
You are correct about it being tricky, but to say he "needs" to open himself up is a judgment (albeit accurate) from outside. He has to realize that need for himself. No one likes being told what they "need" to do. Perhaps a suggestion to that effect might allow him to consider it, but the force of the word "need" can close one off.

Just started reading this story today and am totally enjoying it! I always find stories about people older than teens resonating with me, as I would be nearly the same age difference from Liam as Adrian is to him! To build on what @CincyKris said, Liam has isolated himself both physically and emotionally. That wall is starting to crack as it is built on a foundation of stopped time. He is afraid of betraying both the person of Kevin and the relationship history they made. He has to realize he is not replacing Kevin but is capable of creating another space for someone else.

Charlie & his Aunt Daphne
pvtguy commented on Robert Hugill's story chapter in Charlie & his Aunt Daphne
There are certainly a lot of "Aunt Daphe's" out there that need to have their wings clipped. Louis did the right thing and walked away. And in the end, so did Charlie. He may finally have declared his independence!- 14 comments

For those of us who feel that we're different, it is great to have people who support us and love us as we are. And @centexhairysub is correct: US Americans are way too puritanical and not even aware of it and its origin which makes them overly judgmental and self-righteous!

The Village, The State, The World
pvtguy commented on Lee Wilson's story chapter in The Village, The State, The World
Simply thanks for sharing this tale! Would that we all would focus on the needs of others in this way: not riches for life, but ways for them to have the means to start doing for themselves and others. -
Thanks for sharing a wonderful story of someone whose values focused on making life better for others! That is what this season is about!
-
I love the latest introduction of characters in this story - it makes the story that much more full and intriguing! That Joss "came out" to Gloria seems a safe bet considering his penchant for privacy: she seems to be "family" too!

With your talents in writing, your journey is still unfolding. As said by others, we can all relate in part or whole to what you've experienced so far. I hope you know that there is a community here who supports you just as you are and wants to only see good for you!

The solicitor, Tom & Ian
pvtguy commented on Robert Hugill's story chapter in The solicitor, Tom & Ian
Wonderful chapter, @Robert Hugill. Thomas Englert is going to be a force to be reckoned with for sure! Tom and Ian? I don't think it's out of the realm of possibilities! And Louis and Charlie - will be interesting to see where this goes. Tom will be the force Louis needs to get the property up and running. I hope there's no interference in this by Mr. Englert! -
The Holiday: travelling & arriving
pvtguy commented on Robert Hugill's story chapter in The Holiday: travelling & arriving
Things are working out for this family! The lend of a vehicle in which to travel, the promise of a larger house when they return, and adventure/vacation in Ardre in which to unwind and enjoy time together! More please, @Robert Hugill. -
It's great to see a return to this story! Thanks, @Dodger. Robbie has made great progress but still is Robbie! Daniel and he have developed a very nice relationship. Rory may still be curious...at least Robbie hopes so! And now, Robbie will have to save Mr. Lube!

Madison is choosing to believe what she wants to believe, indicating that she was either naive and totally trusting of Aunt and Uncle, or simply antagonistic towards her brothers from being a spoiled brat! I do hope she has an awakening and change of heart, but will have to wait and see. The boys are both getting stronger through the support and love of many around them!

It is possible that he might be sick, but also possible that he has been starving himself after losing his job. That could be the reason he walked the three miles rather than purchasing a ticket for a bus, train or taxi. Now to see how he will assist with the unfolding drama over the missing statue...

Perhaps dear "sister" is really homophobic! Thus, her attitude toward Joshua and Jordan. We needed this spanner to give a little tartness to the sweetness! I hope Jordan can recover some of the funds dear "Uncle Phil" has used!

Louis is starting to build his own community. Where it leads is yet to be seen, but both guys seem grateful for his assistance.

This is a wonderful story about one man who grows through the grief of losing his much loved wife in childbirth to his finding love again in his life in a most surprising (to him and others!) way - with another man. He became an instant single parent upon his wife's death, helped by his parents who were very traditional to their culture but also grew through challenging their beliefs because of love experienced, and resolves beautifully in the end. Nicely paced writing which keeps the reader fully involved.

It was a struggle for some on the journey - but that only made it more real. A follow-up story (or second volume of a few, hint!) might show another journey through life for this beautiful couple and their child.

I didn't see the meeting as strange, but a gathering of people with interest in Dailan and also with different skills to assist him in his career. I'm very glad to see this is not the end of the story yet. Still, I'm wondering: Will Creek and Dailan eventually move into their own place or live with the Arashi's?

We're getting more intrigue developing. Thomas is a "fixer" with, seemingly, a conscience(?)... He did call help for the minister who suffered a heart attack and was considerate with the man with dementia. Now to see how he deals with the Brunson mission. A good friendship is developing with Charlie. Again, let's see where this leads.

Such a nice warm read (save for the attack) to welcome Thanksgiving here in America. Creek has much for which to be grateful, and he is!
