  1. Personally, I think anything past three hundred chapters would be too long. I know of many online novels that go into the 30's or beyond. Dom's, for example, often do. dkstories's often do.
  2. Completely agreed. That hearing looks ominous to me. I'm wondering how the law works on things like that. I've heard (not sure if it is true) that in drunk-driving cases, the drunk driver can be prosecuted for an accident even if clearly not at fault. I'm wondering if the same applies to unliscenesed drivers? Poor Brian; he's starting to face the permanence of it all.
  3. OK, who blabbed? And "most evil of them"? Surely you aren't maligning dear, sweet Eric again? But, Bondwriter, it simply can't be that Goats have evil intent. Goats are nice, shy, quiet creatures. Well, it is true that I'm a lurker, and in some circles lurkers are maligned, but it must always be remembered: it isn't easy to type with cloven hooves.
  4. Seriously though, applications for hosting and share/hosting take quite a time to process, including a review by a committee. It is far from a simple procedure, and we have some very tough standards. Nick and Rec both becoming hosted so close together was a coincidence, and a very rare event.
  5. Well, I'm sorry, but having no writings does count as a negative. Seriously though, Rec had been in-process for months, so the two hosting announcments coming close together was just coincidence. Becoming a hosted author is not an easy process, at all.
  6. Hey! No Goat Grilling allowed!
  7. A big welcome to Rec! Welcome Aboard!
  8. Congratulations on your 400th! Awww, poor Eric! Nobody seems to understand that he's just being industrious and creative. And, true, he may have children working in a factory one day, but I'll bet he'd be fair and even have his own children laboring away in the sweatshop. BTW, congratulations on your 400th post, too! OTHER postaholics? You just admitted being one then!
  9. First things first; CHAPTER 7 IS UP!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Yes, I think you are onto something there... And also, there is a restaurant (EatZi's, which is a hilarious name for a restuaunt, kudos, Jack!) downstairs from the gym. And, what is one of the tings served is said eatery? Yes, Coffee! I'm reading chapter 7 now, commenting as I go. I found the "you're so cheap" line to be side-splittingly funny!!! That made me laugh out loud. And yes, I did note cappucinos... But no Charlie, yet. Unusual relationship between Robert and Jeremy; No emotional attachment on either part, as they both apparently went out with other guys the next day. I guess my theory of a relationship happening there was wrong, but, I've still got my coffee theory to hold onto. I'm glad they apparently BOTH feel the same way though; otherwise it could be a Zach and Gio situation. Great chapter!!
  10. Ah yes, my innocent-looking eyes when I misplace my sunglasses. I don't see how anyone could consider them troubling, though? Ummm, you have minions? Now that is ominous!!! But... I'm worried about the "No Hero Killed" part.. What if it does happen? I mean, right now we have one of our heroes alone and on the run after his industrious web-based enterprise fell apart. Being alone and on the run is dangerous, so it is quite possible that something fatal could happen?

    An Honor

Congratulations Nick! :2thumbs: :music: Ummm, regarding this bit, Sorry, but I am a firm believer in 'if you can't take the heat, stay out of the kitchen', so I'll have to decline your, um, offer. :fire:
  12. :king: :king: :king: Congratulations Nick :king: :king: :king: GA's newest hosted author!
  13. Ahhh, thanks, Trebs! I vaguely recall on of the books (I last read them back in High school, I think) where the original landing was rediscovered, and they end up using part of their old colony spacecraft to change the orbit of the red star and end the threat of thread. I don't think I've read all the books, as I don't recall the plague at all.
  14. I'll echo Graeme regarding the chat with S'flin: that did indeed help give clarity, especially for someone like me who is not that well aquanted wiht the Pern books. I was extremely surprised; D'Kov is the last one I'd have expected. I began to suspect things wouldn't go as I'd expected (B'rell) when I saw the part about male dragons not maturing as quickly. Great piece of misdirection DK, it worked very well. Now, though, I wonder what happens? The part about the Southern Continent has me the most intrigued.
  15. Very interesting! Davey is certainly dealing with a load of issues. That "advance" he made on Brian surprised me. I'm wondering when Brian has to act RE the timeline?
  16. Underground? Hmmmm.... Goats usually don't go underground, so that would have the element of being unexpected... Piedmont? MHmmm... That does have possibilities... But, lurking and hiding are sort of similar things, and I'm sure I'll be every bit as good at hiding as I have been at lurking...
  17. ACK! This just isn't my week! First, an attempted coup, and now, I'm on the menu, again! BTW, on a serious note (and one which will likely give more ammo to the conspirators), FTL 21 will likely not be ready for posting on Tuesday. Emoe does have it, but Emoe is traveling again and several days ago he let me know that Ch 21 was unlikely to be ready by Tuesday. BTW, rumor has it that Emoe is at a Southern Baptists ministers convention, brushing up on his Leviticus. So, I can guarantee that CH 21 will be posted at some point, as it does exist, but I can't say exactly when. Now, I'd probably better go hide before you guys see this and start planning a Goat BBQ...
  18. Happy Birthday Ethan!!! I hope you have a great and very special day my friend!
  19. Buahahahaha!!!! Yes, he attends Church. And we all know that none of the Fundie homophobes are evil, right? Looking our for his kid? More like looking INTO his kid, based on political concerns! He's evil, I tell ya, Evil! And yes, I do use the term "evil" a lot, but mainly in reference to you. Well said Colin!! That "Proactivity" has another name: Blackmail! Yep, Richard is shaping up to be a villain.
  20. Could well be... Just overly pushy salesmen. Maybe they are selling girl scout cookies? OK, you want it, you got it! Riding off into the sunset they go... Steve wheeled the charger around, distracted by the flying bullets buzzing through the air. Jamming his foot to the floorboards, he raised his arm to sheild his eyes from the glare of the setting sun, "Chris, I can't see!" he yelled. Chris, hanging on for all he was worth as the Charger accelerated throguh one hundered miles per hour actoss the rough and rolling terrain, tried to see ahead, but couldn't. "I don't know, dude. But we can't go in any other direction, they've got us boxed in." The sudden silence as the Charger's wheels cleared the canyon rim filled the car. Chris felt his stomach churn as he became weighless, and stared in awe out the side window, looking down into the magnificent canyon below. As the nose of the car slowly dropped, revealing the onrushing canyon floor below, Steve's final words were, "that's one heck of a sunset, dude..." Thank you, goat-buddy!!! And welcome back! We missed you!! Now, if only that pesky moderator would show up... They are never around when you need 'em... Yes, yes, I fuly agree about Eric. He is being unfairly maligned when all he has done is to display the vitues of enterprise and dedication. I honestly don't know why people malign him so. He's just being industrious. Of course! Us goats gotta stick together! ACK! Talk about having a critical audience... Mine keeps putting me on the menu!
  21. ACK!!!!!!!! Oh no, first, I'm deposed as author, and now they are trying to cook me! Emoe!!! Heeeeelp! Time to gather the herd! The battle lines are drawn! :pickaxe: :mace: :fire: :chris: :axeman: :sword: :ranger: :2hands:
  22. Veeery interesting... And that, people, is a sure sign of a postaholic; he posts to say that he's speechless. Richard is indeed a b***. As to what kind, I vote for all of the above! Catherine and Richard make a perfect pair; a real evil duo... Hmmm, I'm noting that there are a LOT of baddies in this story now. Anyone care to join me in chanting? 21... 21... 21... 21... 21...
  23. Agreed, another great chapter, and it sounds like Thread is on the way. I agree, I was glad J'shon told his wingleader too. So, Ojeth is upset with J'shon. Also, they are away from their Wyer. I'm wondering: Will Lilleth Rise while they are at a different Wyer?
  24. Yes, agreed! I'm shocked, shocked I say, that Steve could possibly try and defend such an obviously reprehensible character as Richard! However, Colin, I think you raise a most excellent point! IS Matt the progeny of Viola and slimey Richard? Or did they merely raise him? Hmmm, that would explain much, and does fit into my theory of Matt having extraterrestrial origins.
