Goldilocks and the Three Lumberjacks by Bondwriter
C James replied to C James's topic in Stories Discussion Forum
Crime and Punishment amongst the Lumberjacks! This is cute and has some of Bondwrithers own unique spins. I much prefer this to the original, and Bondwriter spins an endearing yarn, then ties it all up with a happy ending. Of course, a happy ending after committing a crime? I'm far from sure that this is a good example... -
Thanks, but it was truly a team effort (and many thanks to the Writer Support Team members, many of whom were involved in the planning stages). And thanks also to Myr, for giving us a place (GA) to do things like this!

This is somehow giving away the answer to the question that, properly phrased, should have been "Could Eric himself have been blackmailed?" Echidna! Echidna! ACK!!! NOOOOOO!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Don't get me turned into a pincushion!!!!!!! The only answer I gave was that Eric was not blackmailing himself. (I hope that isn't too much of a spoiler, or I'll be a pincushion yet...) Whew!!! Thank you, oh spiney one!! I will say definitively that Eric either was, or was not, blackmailed. I'm also saying categorically that he was not blackmailing himself. As for whether or not Eric has been blackmailed by someone other than himself (eyes the spiney one nervously) I can't say.

[Shadowgod] Living in Surreality

Mr James? Hmmmm... I'm very suspiciuous there... That's great news on Josie! BTW, I'll let loose here with a major spoiler! (sorry, Steve): The title of the next chapter begins with a "C". Yes, I agree, what is this oddity of which he speaks? I can only think of one really odd thing (exra-terrestrial matters aside) and that is they seem to all be Californians, and californians are definitely odd (understatement alert!). -
I hereby predict that you won't live this one down anytime soon. Sorry Graeme, but there is never a moderator around when you need one.

[dkstories] Chapter 39 and 40 of Dreams of Humanity
C James replied to dkstories's topic in Promoted Author Discussion Forum
I do agree that this was not an ending, per se, but as I recall Sci/fi books are noted for this: Many authors write a series of books. I do not think DK killed off Maseko and Immaline just so Garret and Billy could be together. That would make no practical sense: Immaline yes, but Maseko? She was under no illusions of her husband's sexuality, and would have likely been thrilled for Garret and Billy. That line about pretending those are his boys is really intriguing: I think the Jordanites want Garret in power, but subverted. I do hope he can save them before they are bought up by the Jordanites. Rigel: Your suggestion about taking the impostor to Atrix Prime to die of the diseases would be condemning an innocent child to death. Those impostors are not the ones at fault here. Now, taking the entire Joradanite leadership to Atrix prime for that fate, now that I'd cheer! And we still have a very, very alluring strategic conundrum: The Jordanites know the location of Atrix prime, and about its jump point to the republic. And no one, Garret included, knows that they know. If Garret is their pawn, will they move against his bolt-hole? I doubt it. I'd bet they use the kids to try and force a stand-down to allow them transit. -
Please showe me a cite in the law where it prohibints Goats from being parents to human children? But perhaps Eric, out of the goodness and generosity of his heart, sinply wanted to spare Chris and Steve the headaches involved with money managment (be removing the money)? Humph ... Only in the sense that all authors feel paternal towards their characters... (How do you feel about Steph or Ben, Jack?)

[dkstories] Chapter 39 and 40 of Dreams of Humanity
C James replied to dkstories's topic in Promoted Author Discussion Forum
Hmmmm... I'm still digesting these two chapters. OK, first point: do we know Maseko is dead? Not for a fact, we don't. Same with Imaline. As for the Jordanite kidnapping, I see two possibilities; One is that the Hand swapped the kids, and has the real kids safe and sound. I consider this unlikly. The second is that I find it very feasable that a religious fanatic would hand over their kids for such a stunt, especially knwing that Garret wouldn't hurt kids. The woman in the life pod with the kids warned Garret to pretend they were his. My guess; the real kids were on the ship, heading for Earth. What could Garret do to stop them anyway? I therefor think that the Jordanites now have the kids, probably on Earth. I also think that unless Maseko survived, nobody on the Republic side will know that the Empire knows the location of the Atrix bolt-hole. The deaseses are a good point, but why would they need to land troops, really? They could always stand off and bombard the planet. Also, someone mentioend the possibility of the Jordanites now having a back door to the Republic; they do, and no one knows about it. Well, this kills my theory that Garret would strike at earth unexpectedly from the Atrix bolt-hole! -
Eric might just surprise us all. Don't be too nice to Jack Frost.. he's pretty cold-hearted, ya know... Hi Bob!!! The whole buying and selling guys thing comes out of Chapter 13, where, during a serom, the reverend Mike makes a joke about a passage in Leviticus; that it is ok to own slaves, so long as they are from neighboring nations. So, Jack frost is in canade, a neigboring nation to me, so we were trying to sell him. If he moves to Switzerland, he would be in a nation neighboring Bondwriter. Hmmmm, Should we sell Jack by auction, or sealed bid? I have indeed guessed your location! (only I guessed wrong...) Aren't writers usually the "parents" of their characters? I'm just amazed that everyone keeps thinking the worst of Eric. It's always possible that he had good reasons for what he did.

Wow, that's quite a full slate, but I'm glad there are things your are looking forward too. Good luck with the new phone! Just don't do what a friend of mine did: Go looking for a knife to open the box it came in, find one in the kitchen sink under the dishwater, use it to open the box, and plop, glug... glug.. glug...

Colin, I think you have it! Those first letters matching are just too much of a coincidence... And I think Steve's "spoiler" was misdirection! So, I just found that "Jacob" is a hebrew name that means "Supplanter". Matthew means "Gift of God", and Valerie means "Strength". Uhoh.... Supplanting the human race with godlike strength. I knew it!!! So what is their fiendish plan? I'm just trying to be helpful... But what I really want to know is, what is Jacob's mom up to in Sacramento!?!?!?!? And, how will the affect Jacob, Matt, and Valerie? Oh, and will we ever find out about the embarrassing story behind Mr. James, the teddy bear? I do hope you have Josie in the story again, she is one of my faves! -
Hmmm, Switzerland isn't a neigbor of the US... BUT, it is of France, so I'm afraid it will fall to Bondwriter to own you. You sure you don't want to go easy on yourself and let me sell you instead? And, actually, you ARE releasing a chapter once every month or so... You started in August, and that's seven months ago. As for the military school and beating Eric to a pulp, do i take if that you are one of those who think badly of Eric? Poor kid, he's just being industrious and making a little money to supplement his allowance...
-
Do you mean regarding Eric? Hmmm, kind of hard to make that stick without some kind of evidence. Staying at his house is suspicious, though, very suspicious. Nothing worse then being labeled a child rapist by Bill O'Rielly But then again that is just me... I don't know about your "Mr. Willaims is Evil" theory... I mean, there is no evidence for it. It's not like he is always interupting.. Er, well, it's not like he named his cat 'Beelzebub"... Er, well, hmmm... BTW, everyone, Steve has two stories running here on GA, and one is the absolutly superb "Living in Surreality". Steve has a way with words, an elequence, that gives the most vivid of descriptions. He's good, damn good, and BTW, he also has another story, called "Shot of Bourbon" that is an internet classic. It's the typical gay fiction theme: Boy meets Dirtbike, Boy falls in love with Dirtbike, Dirtbike hurts boy, etc.

You are ruling out Mars? DAMN! That is a major spoiler! I was sure that MAtt and Jacob were from Mars, and Val from Venus. The dream was very evocative, meaning different things to different people. I'm glad you leave some things up the the imagination of the readers, it makes it a lot more fun. Capra... Hmmm, that means Goat... And wears sunglasses... ERK! I'm quite sure that this is entirely coincidental. After all, I'm sure there are lots and lots and lots of sunglasses-wearing goats... I hereby suggest that if Chapter 17 will be posted before Chapter 16, you rename Ch 17 to Ch 16, then the present Ch 16 to Ch 17. Otherwise it might get confusing, and Goats confuse easily. As for the Oddity... Huh. They have a strong penchant for bestowing nicknames? They are very open about sex and relationships? Or is it that they are not native Californians (due to being not native to Earth)? Hmmm. I think you might have a point there. Edit to add: The biggest mystery that I see is whatever is going on with Jacob's Mom in Scramento. The cunning author has referenced this in passing several times, and he usually has a reason. Could Jacob be moving away? -
The wedding went well, much to my shock. I was expecting major trouble. However, Doug Morris is at the wedding, and is a freind of theirs? THAT does not bode well! Jonah and Sky are really sweet together in this one, and it is definitly a "feeling good" chapter, though with some worries for the future. :2thumbs:

Poor Eric... Why does everyone think the worst of him? Well, you never know... I'll even give a very minor spoiler: Either you are right, or you aren't. He already has, (and that's shdowgod the anonymous beta reader, BTW). He betas before I send the chapter to Emoe. He contributes a very great deal to both the wording and the plot. For example, the whole "mount the mailbox" thing came out of comment he made while beta reading. And that, incidentally, is why Veronica siad Steve has a dirty mind. The only problem there is that the house has no cellar. He'd have to bury Eric. That, however, might not be an unpopular plan in the minds of Chris and Steve. Ohhh, I'd love to speculate and opine on some of the points you and Graeme raised! But, Alas, I cannot. Y'all have some great predictions and speculations though, thanks!! OK, I'm off to work on CH 15, trying to get caught up!

As I recall, it was a Slim Whitman song that defeated the aliens in "Mars Attacks" by making their heads explode. I therefor hereby announce the real reason for the events in Ch 13 (the 3-way). While Slim Whitman songs make Alien heads explode, Tom Jones songs make alien's other heads explode (and there was a lot of that in Ch 13). So now we know why they got so carried away in Ch 13! Yes, I'm afraid the proof is conclusive: The "dream sequence" was actually a repressed memory of Jacob and Matt's arrival on Earth, and the events in Ch 13 (especially the Tom Jones song) are further proof of their Alien origons. The question is, how will this play out in the story? And what are they really up to, here on earth? -

When i was casting about for a name for the Fundy preacher, let's just say I was divinely inspired. But, I will note that EMoe is mistaken if he thinks I actually put him in the story: The Reverend is Emoe, while our editor is EMoe. I'm sure it was all purely coincidental. So you like spurs, do you? Hi Steve! Fear not, I'm quite sure, just as with EMoe's newfound profession as a homophobic Fundy preacher, it's all quite coincidental. Good, he's getting overconfident...
