  1. I'll second that!!! :2thumbs: Though, I'm looking forward to the rest of "heart of the Tree" too!
  2. Snakes. I used to keep some as pets. Freshwater or saltwater tropical fish tanks?
  3. No I didin't, but sorry if you did! I hope they aren't too near. I've found plenty in rotting wood nearby, so as long as they aren't getting in the structure you will hopefully be ok. The person below me knows about termites, and will hopefully give Graeme advice...
  4. Chapter 12, Ambush!, is up! OK, it's a few hours early, but it is Tuesday here, so, here it is.
  5. Congratulations Kitty!! :2thumbs: That was great! This whole story is hilarious! My thanks to the writers of each and every chapter.
  6. It has been a lot of years, but I vaugely recall, while reading some of the "early history", that some things seemed incongrous. Yipes, that would be one heck of a challenge to deal with. I have no clue how one would go about it, so I'm very interested to see how DK handles it. That makes sense... Dan has been known to use multiple meanings in his stories on occasion, so it could certainly have more than one meaning. I also think your version sounds a bit more "spot on" than mine. I loved the way DK portrayed J'Shon's feelings when he was "chosen" by a green dragon; his love for the dragon, and his fear of his father's reaction. I also really loved the Dragon's focus on food... BTW, is it normal for a rider to be able to hear dragons other than their own? I notice that J'Shon can, and I suspect this might be significant.
  7. In my unbiased opinion, Kidds. Frogs or Toads?
  8. :king: :king: :king: :king: Happy 21st, Silven!!! :king: :king: :king: :king:
  9. LOL!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! That is almost as bad as the brainstorm they had in a nearby town which is the old territorial capital: There is a "Pioneers home", a kind of retirement home for the original settlers. There is also a "Pioneers Cemetery". Somebody decided it would be more efficient to have them combined on the same sign: "Pioneers home and cemetery". That name change did not go over well with the residents of the home. Those of the cemetery, however, were silent on the matter.
  10. Ummm, I assume you don't mean computer mice? LoL Rats. They are bigger and don't through the tiny holes mice will. Easier to catch, too. Hedgehogs or Echidnas?
  11. Ahhh! Ooops. I think I've made that same mistake (confusing the two) before, too.
  12. That's sure true! I've lately been receiving emails from people who aren't even registered at GA (they had heard about it at some other site, and I'm trying to find out where so I can thank whomever did that.). Much to my amazement, it seems the story is getting a little "buzz" even off-GA. Emoe, thanks for getting me back into writing, and for all that you do. I'm a very picky reader, but I had no problems at all with the first chapter of "Falls Creek Lessons". I loved it. However, the story was already largely compete when I found it, so I was able to just keep reading. BTW, I have a meeting tomorrow (Tuesday) morning, so Ch 12 is unlikely to be posted until the afternoon. THANKS!!!!!!! CJ
  13. I'm thinking that, due to the amount of published Pern novels and stories, the amount of information must be overwhelming and darn near impossible to cross-reference. Writing a fanfic based on one novel would be quite an undertaking, but a large series? Yipes! Hmmmm, speaking or "Rider's Pride", I haven't seen any mention (Though I might have missed it) of why DK chose that title. My hunch is that "pride" in this case is a play on "gay pride", or in other words, gay (meaning same-sex relationships) dragon riders. Just wild speculation on my part... Sound reasonable to anyone?
  14. Their dialog was great, they really got the better of poor Dad!! That was heartwarming, Graeme... One of the finest short stories I've ever seen.
  15. Never seen either, but I've heard (might be wrong) that HD-DVD is more compatible with existing hardware, so I'll go with it. I doub't I'll be buying either one any time soon though. IDE or SCSI?
  16. Yep, the darn patient didin't follow their procedures and picked an atypical illness to have. LoL! A local hospital here expanded a few years ago. They had a new wing put on, attached to the old building They forgot one little detail: it would have been nice to have a way to get from one part of the building to the other without going outside. Strangly, nobody noticed the lack of doors until the new wing opened.
  17. The ranking system is automatic and post-based. I'm not sure what the actual number levels are, thoguh. As for me, I deny that I am in denial!
  18. SHORT DELAY!!!! Rick has asked me to let y'all know that due to a computer crash, he is unable to post his next chapter. The chapter was not destroyed, but his computer access was, so this should (hopefully) only be a short delay. Rick, sorry this happened to you, we miss you!! CJ Edit to add: The wait is over, it's up!!!
  19. I don't see how you can say that... I almost never post... I certainly second that! Myr has built something very special here, and I've made many new freinds here. Might I suggest "forum lurker"
  20. Thank you Trebs for the update. He sounds like he's doing great. Take care, both of you, and best wishes, CJ
  21. Hmmmmm... Interesting!! I'm still very much undecided about Jacob's motivations. He's also risking making a mess of Matt's friendship with Val. I do think that the events of Ch 13 released a lot of sexual tension, though. You may well be right that JAcob has the most to lose. However, I could easily see them all being losers, depending on how this plays out. Incidentally, Jacob and Steve? Can't wait for 14!!!
  22. Sci/fi is one of my favorites too. In fact, there is a very good chance that the story I post after "For the Love" will be "Skyfire", which will be hard sci-fi. I think one mistake I made was starting "For the Love" off by making it appear to be a romance/coming out story, or a dark blackmail story. I know I lost readers due to that. I probably should have billed it as "action/adventure" from the start. The problem I had was that it has aspects of several genres in it, so I didn't want to limit it too much. But, it is my first try, so I was bound to make many errors.
  23. Hmmm, two kinds of music that are my favorites are on your list above: the first, and the last. LoL. Nope, I haven't bought a computer, but I am shopping for a new monitor. The person below me likes heavy metal and cowboy country music.
  24. Hey! I'm nowhere near 3000! And in any case, never been done before? Take a look at Myr's post count! What we really need to pay attention to here, though, is Graeme: He set the all-time GA record for fastest to 1000 posts. Now that's one postaholic Echidna!
