  1. I just do not possibly comprehend how anyone thought it was a bomb?!!? Bombs DO NOT have flashing lights or big LED displays. I always laugh when I see a TV show of a move where hidden explosives, complete with flashing lights (I'm not kidding) are being hidden or sought. I just assumed that Hollywood was too stupid to know that something designed to be hidden and covert WILL NOT HAVE a feature like a flashing red light! (This is one of many reasons why I so rarely watch movies or TV; the majority of it isn't worth the time.) I had no idea that law enforcement could be similarly moronic. On the other hand, I have no sympathy for the advertisers here either: They were apparently placing their advertising without the knowledge or permission of the property owners. If that is the case, I hope they get jail time, to discourage that kind of theft.
  2. Jojoe, I don't think ransoming Emoe is a very good idea, becuase I don't think we could afford to pay what DK would charge to let us give Emoe back. (The Ransome of Red Chief, anyone? ) Seriously though, I keep hearing that 39 and 40 are more momentious than 38. I also just can't see how the story can be wrapped up in two chapters! Hmmm, I do see ONE way... Perhaps they are far larger than normal chapters, such as several times the size? Or another way: Garret loses.
  3. This was a great chapter! I loved the background info, and also the character development. J'shon's brother and B'rell shielding him "by unspoken agreement" when they were bathing was very cool. The way the dragon picked up on his emotions was very well done, and certainly was a good lead-in for those who have not read the stories (and was still great for those who have) into the emotional link, and how it affects riders, especially during mating flights. J'shon is certainly nervous about that! Great chapter, thanks!!
  4. Thanks Steve, but I'm shocked to see that you are doubting my lurkishness. Thanks Connor! Goats: the wave of the Future. It wasn't quite 300! More like 250. And I had a lot of committee work to do, plus the anthology.
  5. If Jacob's decision had gone the other way, I think Valerie would have castrated him for tossing Matt aside. He and Matt are, after all, dating. Matt's decision? You mean if Matt had stronger feelings for Valerie? Then Jacob would be out in the cold, with no one to blame but himself. I think Valerie is FAR from at peice with the situation. She's now odd-man-out, and the "rejected party". I expect her to take a while to realize this, and then proceed to harvest her new rearview mirror ornament. Then, with JAcob no longer in the dating picture, maybe sparks will fly between Matt and Val? As for what they really want: What Teen knows that? So, I would say that is a definite possibility.
  6. I can see doing that as Mercury was thoguht to be tidaly locked when he wrote that, AND it was critical to the story. Editing eFiction stories is a breeze, so that would certainly be an option. Unless, of course, it is something integral to the plot and I can't change it. ROFL!!!!!!!!!! That might work! Well, maybe. I saw something on TV a while back while channel surfing, and it had one character in a lab coat telling another about the cuase of ulcers: Viruses. I immediatly switched channels because the real cause of most ulcers is Helicobacter pylori, which are bacteria, not viri! UGH. With the budgets they have they can't do a 20 second internet search to verify a fact? I don't mind actually using fiction (such as making up the towns and counties) but to have a glaring accidental blunder is something I'd much prefer to avoid.
  7. I get a lot of black bear around here. The do some damage as they like to scratch on wood and seem to like one corner of my house. I don't mind them, but if they get a little too incautious I fire a shot or two in their general direction to run them off (no, I do not aim for them, just near them). BTW, if you leave food in your car, or even things that smell like food (such as a hamburger wrapper), they WILL break in. I felt the chapter was good character development, especially for Krist. The Icelandic was a very nice touch! How did you do that? I too wonder if Krist suspects anything? I'm also wondering when the other shoe will drop (that sound in the Bathroom). Great chapter!!
  8. But, as I'm already a lurker, I guess I could just continue lurking? Thanks Kojaky! Ouch, I know that feeling all too well. I hope things turn around for you soon, Jack. Hi Krista! That, or I joined GA on Feb 16th, 1706. Wow.. Considering that I'm now claiming to have joined GA in 1706, that means that you can remember back to before the American Revolution! I guess my comment to Graeme about you getting old was right! Thanks kevin, and thanks everyone!
  9. Wow, thanks everyone! I'm working on the Fairy Tales anthology entries, Plus I'm real-world working today, and I have some projects to get done, as well as some writing. Myr, thank you for creating this wonderful place. It's like having a second family. Speaking of this wonderful place, I have a request: Please, everyone, if you can, check out the link in my sig that says "support GA". GA is having a fund drive, and the closing date is Feb 27th. Thanks again everyone, this has really made my day. CJ
  10. I was trying to sneak by without being noticed... and made it, for about 20 seconds. You got me Jack! Ummm... I think this is where I usually remind everyone that I almost never post? It's like this, ya see... My registration date is innacurate. I only post about once a month, so I registered here at GA on Feb 15th, 1706.

  12. EMoe!! That simply isn't true!! It is already the weekend! And if it was true I'd be posting "CJ's 3000th post" here right about now, in honor of the tradition you started.

  16. Howdy Goat!!! I tend to agree with you (yep, hell did just freeze over!). MAtt and Val sure did seem willing participants! LoL I do recall that Matt and Val had some very real sexual tension between each other while they were out shopping. And we know Jacob had feelings for Val too. I think there may, or may not, be more to it than just exploring his own sexuality. Val did seem to be aware of the potential for JAcob trying to choose between them, and made it clear that he hadn't better hurt Matt. But, at the end of 13 she could see how they were with each other, sooo, I think she is, as usual, the clearest thinking of the three. I'm still betting that Val will, indeed, have a new mirror ornament (Jacob's nuts) when she finds out about that kiss with Brendon. Jacob is right, neither he or Brendon would have walked away from the table if she had... Well, not still in possession of their nuts, anyway. My favorite line in this has got to be Val's" "Shouldn't you be somewhere else?"
  17. Hey, thanks, I didin't know that! That is strange. In other words, if I fly from Detroit to Toronto, I need a passport. If I drive, I don't. That's the government I guess. BTW, that brings up a scary point; Realisim in stories. It is sooo easy to make a goof like that in a story, but then how do you fix it? Oh, and nice self-pic!
  18. True, but Mexicans and Canadians now do need passports, as do Americans for visits to return from those (or any forign) nations (It used to be just a driver's liscence). ROFL! Arizona is a little weird, but I wouldn't live anywhere else. Ummm, I think they will ask for more than that... I think you will need to go into Quarantine for a few months? (Animal import regulations, and all) So get writing! LoL! I've got to go get Ch 14 of FTL finished.
  19. Ack, no, and I hope it isn't serious!!! The person below me would love to be in australia, even if it meant being screamed at.
  20. Who? Me? And, umm, what were the practices of the forign legion that you are refering to? (Seriously, I've never heard anytyhing about anything sexual there?) I was hoping someone would ask that!! In a word, yes and no! In this case, it is specific to Maricopa County, Arizona. http://www.thenewspaper.com/news/07/722.asp The text is copied below. Arizona: Fingerprinting for Speeding Tickets Maricopa County, Arizona's Sheriff will demand fingerprinting for anyone suspected of a routine criminal traffic violation. Sheriff Joe ArpaioMaricopa County, Arizona Sheriff Joe Arpaio will now demand fingerprints from any motorist stopped for a routine traffic violation in his 9000 square mile territory. The fingerprints will be entered into the Automated Fingerprint Identification System. During an eight month voluntary test of the program, two-thirds of motorists refused to provide thumbprints, but as of Wednesday, Arpaio is no longer accepting "no" for an answer. "This will be mandatory. No exceptions," Arpaio said, as reported in the Arizona Republic. "If they don't want to give the print, they're going directly to jail. Period." Arpaio claims the fingerprinting is necessary to cut down on identity theft. The requirement applies to all criminal traffic violations such as speeding more than 20 MPH over the limit and DUI. Of 10,500 stopped during the pilot program, 3000 were listed as criminal violations. Over 99.5 percent of those stopped produced legitimate identification. The colorful sheriff has made headlines for a number of initiatives. According to his own website, "Maricopa County Sheriff's Office and Sheriff Joe Arpaio are well known for a lot of things -- Tent City, pink underwear, green bologna, and chain gangs are just a few." Source: Traffic violators face ID theft check (Arizona Republic, 10/20/2005) BTW, take note of that last line: Tent City, pink underwear, green bologna, and chain gangs. Yep, That's Sheriff Joe. We now have the only chain gangs (prisoners chained together for work (usually road work) outside of the prison) outside of the deep south, and the only female chain gangs in the country. The Tent City is Sheriff Joe's answer to prison overcrowding: Put prisoners in tents, out in the hot, hot desert. (there is a big compound with armed guards, they aren't just camping). Pink underwear is one of his many measures designed to humiliate the prisoners and make jail less pleasant (Being in tents in 120 degree heat is yet another). The Green Bologna (for Green Bologna sandwiches, which go well with the green eggs) is another. This is all real, guys. Sheriffs are very powerful here. If ya'll want any further proof, just google on "sheriff Joe" sometime.
  21. OMG, Jacques Legivre, maple syrup smuggler extraordinaire, has displayed a stunning grasp of the obvious! Gee, give him a few more months, and he might even be able to tie his own shoes! What? Me, mix sexual innuendo with a sermon?
  22. I really loved chpater 9! (That's how EMoe spells it, so it must be the right way...) The Sheriff might not be likable, but he comes across as a real professional here. Eddie's Dad, well, I admit that was a surprise to me. Nothing had ever happened between him and Joe, yet he expected to have a long-term secret affair with Joe after they were married to women? The big question I have is: who started the fire? Is Mom covering for Dad? Glad to see things are working out for Eddie and Danny.
  23. So WHERE IS THAT SNEAK PEEK????? <stomps all four feet impatiently>
  24. Great job on Ch 6! My favorite part was Larry teaching Arron about football. Larry is absolutely great, and very well done. Aaron's mother is certainly every teen's dream Mom! Talk about accepting! He's darn lucky in that respect. Adam is a crack-up, and probably my favorite character so far.
