I really like this story. It puts a lot of things in persective, and makes readers really think, and want to go check on friends. Life sometimes gets in the way, and we lose track of what's important. Very well written, and I agree with the previous comments about how masterfully you showed as much of the emotions rather than just describing outright how they were feeling. Well done!! Though I love all your stories, in the beginning I wasn't sure I could deal with the physical and emotional trauma of this story. I am very glad that I stuck it out! Very interesting. If the suit had stayed on, I probably wouldn't have been able to. I'm very glad it got removed so quickly without too much in the way of side effects! Even in fictional stories, empathy can be overwhelming. I am really enjoying this story. You are very talented, and I thank you for sharing that with us! @Cole Matthews, please tell me if I'm right, I think I know some of the answers to these questions. The bucket is leftover from his drunk nights, passing out in the livingroom and needing to throw up on waking. (I used to be quite the heavy drinker, long long ago). The kerosene heater, I think, ran out of kerosene, I don't think anyone turned it off. Though not long before being found, since the metal was still so warm. The windows were probably opened by first responders, thinking possible gas leak? I noticed the first thing they did was check all the kitchen appliances. I don't have any ideas yet on the girl, or if someone actually damaged the heater or whether it was just old age or damaged in moving it around or in storage for warmer months. How did I do? Love the story, by the way.

I've enjoyed all 3 Underground stories, but I really liked this one the best. Riley is an amazing character, and the interactions are highly interesting and thought out. Truly a great story. scottie

it's really perfect the way you have taken a paid assassin and turned him into the only person who can save Taewon, Lina, Daven, and Naomi and the kids. And himself as well, if things flow the direction that i think they will. He will have to kill his grandfather and take over Raja, this is the only way to keep everyone safe. His grandfather will use these people against him again in the future just as he is doing with Taewon now. No matter the promises or truces. A great story, with great characters, some changing (but did Kian really change, or just allow his true soul to shine for the first time?), some learning reality and NOT letting it change them (Daven, of course!). And Naomi, who has fought and lost once and continues to fight for those she cares about in spite of her loss. And we can't forget about Lina (the courage and personal sacrifice it takes to love and protect someone you know loves someone else is phenomenal, I know from personal experience), or Taewon (who is in his predicament BECAUSE he loved loves Kian). Sorry, rambling again. Thank you so much for sharing this story with us. scottie

I think I agree with the consensus so far that Paul and Jeff are too morally incorruptible to go the easy way out. But on the other hand, the bastard is already on the run from Idaho and other states. Would it really be a surprise if he just seemed to disappear? I agree with the above comment too about being a good example for Maria, but Maria knows nothing about any of it and they may want to keep it that way. So many opposite sides to the same coin...in the end, I do believe that the morals of the boys would prevail and they would do the right thing. Though Uncle Richard may have to do something drastic with the homophobic sheriff who may try to pin a murder charge on them just because they are gay. Well either way the story goes, I have truly enjoyed reading it so far! Thank you for sharing it with us. You are doing a great job with it, and I know that will continue as the story progresses. A wonderful story! My very first foray into fantasy was The Last Herald Mage, and my favorite that I have reread dozens of times through the decades. It is a fine line to walk when doing fanfic that you don't overuse the original author's base, and you did it perfectly. I think she would be happy with it. I do agree that the last chapters were a bit rushed, but the story still made it through so no harm no foul. I haven't found the sequel as yet, is there one? I see it has been a few years since this posted...I truly hope you continue(d) Dalen's story! I've read several of your stories and have liked every one so far. Keep up the good work, and I will continue reading more of your stories! Thank you for sharing them with us. Scottie

This is absolutely my favorite chapter so far! I love the whole story, don't get me wrong, but Jian being able to converse with the animals at the zoo is fantastic! And working at the zoo, would be one of my dream jobs! And Pitane, I had a dog (a mutt, but beautiful!) named Dax that listened and behaved and knew exactly what we were saying. I never had to have a leash on her even when we travelled and stayed in hotels. A wonderful chapter for a truly great story! Scottie
