    This chapter still freaks me out and gets my old heart racing, but here is why I absolutely love Tobyn. He can drive an author crazy, but he is authentic to his core. You're right... Kellar was a goner if Tobyn had not shown up... and still might be.

    It was a terrible chain of events in the penultimate chapter. I fretted over the writing of this one, and in a sense finding the cure for the malaise was overshadowed by the drama, but I would still write it the same way. A heartbreaking chapter for a man totally out of his element.

    Exactly, Doc. His whole world has been turned upside down. His plans with Tilly are ended, he has these confusing feelings for Kellar, and his original plans to travel have changed, and now his mother has an earth mate, something he thought didn't exist anymore. It really IS a lot to take, especially for someone like Tobyn, who could be called rigid in his thinking.

    Miss Sybil was someone truly special to write, and to be honest, there is some of my mom in there. Maybe that's why I love her so much.

    A very descriptive chapter, Albert. To me, the house was exciting, but I always love a challenge. Great job of introducing us to this old farm, and what it means to John. Cheers!

    This was a tricky chapter to write, but yeah, Tilly is no fool. I love her as a character.

    Kellar is always analyzing. I think it is part of his gift... or gifts. Tobyn gets stuck sometimes. Thanks for continuing to comment, buddy.

    You know, Doc, building and layering a mystery was a real challenge, so there was always a method to my madness. No, they are not going to make it easy for Kellar to leave.

    I like to think of it as a sequence of adventures, but yeah, here we go!

    Possibly. I loved writing this whole chapter. I'm sure lots of readers wondered at the title, and this is where we get an understanding of what the malaise. is, and just how spectacularly devastating it is to a whole race of 'people'. Loved the rock scene too. Cheers, my friend. I am enjoying this.

    It is intrinsic to who he is, and has been since he first shifted. And yeah, Kellar's curiosity has no limits. He'll need to know everything.

    He has a lot to learn. He's not had the typical shifter childhood, and has no clue about how it all works. It's a real testament to his strength as an individual, but I was so happy to bring Tobyn into the mix. Shifters shouldn't be alone.

    We can only hope he's housetrained. He's handling it pretty well now that the panic has receded. I guess it comes with being a shifter... it feels normal pretty quickly. Cheers, Doc!

    Woot! Appreciate that, Doc! I'm rereading it too. The last couple of weeks I have reread Bearpaw, Sidewinder, and now Larkspur. The process has been giving me comfort for some reason. Someone is reading Boundaries, so I just read the first chapter of that too. I hope you get a lot from repeating this journey. Cheers, my friend.

    I never thought about the connection to Harry Potter before, but it is definitely valid. Kellar has had a really tough life so far, much like Harry, and has basically been on his own in the foster care system. The Apsleys leave a lot to be desired, and Warren is an out of control brat and bully. As far as his parents, Kellar has even more questions now, really really big ones. I can't say whether he will get answers, but some he can figure out for himself. Like that they were most likely wolf shifters like he is. Happy you are enjoying the story, my friend. Cheers!
