A warm coffee shop in Cape Town... sounds so nice, my friend. This was a very different story for me to write, and I never knew what to expect from readers. My choice of story name was questioned by a friend, and I understood it, but I'm a stubborn man, and I'm pleased it makes sense to you now. Kellar is a healer, so who knows how he might contribute to this race of people he has never felt a part of. Tobyn intrigued me too. I found him as stubborn as me, yet he was a constant surprise. Thanks, my friend! It's what I hope for to, but something is holding me back. There is a story I am almost finished, and something is keeping me from it too. This was probably the best experience of my rather short writing life, maybe because of the challenge of a mystery, and a shifter story to boot. It also could be because of the great interactions with readers. Seeing their passion, which matched mine, was incredibly satisfying. Here's one throw away line in this chapter that shows just how Kellar's life has changed... “What… are you some kind of special seer now, like my grandmother was?” ... just the fact he can mention his grandmother, and know who she was(and the history of his family), is pretty damn special for the once orphan Kellar. I was always waiting for someone to mention this line, but no one did, so here I am doing it. I so appreciate you rereading and sharing your thoughts, Doc. Any time I am brought back to this one is a great thing. Cheers!

I believe we are seeing just how resilient Kellar has had to be his whole young life. But for sure, the wolf has changed him, or strengthened what was already there. I'm pleased you see his self control when it came to Warren. The wolf is not in control, Kellar is. And yes, like you, I enjoyed Warren pissed himself. Thank you, my friend!

I agree, Doc. The scene between grandfather and grandson was intense, as was Kellar's frustration during the healing. It took Tobyn's help for him to see the light.

Yeah, ne needed to hear it, especially while Fendral is still alive. I found it heartbreaking, but cathartic too. I think we can all agree Kendall has all the qualities of an alpha, but I would expect he will still consider himself a healer... it's who he is. Plenty of karma in this chapter with the Reznicks dead and 'buried'.

I'm so glad everyone likes him. The decision to include him and Hugh's story in the first book was the right one.
