I'm glad this chapter was posted when I read the last one! A seriously depressed Cory was not sitting well with me. Not that he's completely out of the woods, but Lola will give him two things he needs: "family" love--I mean the cat family -- and a place to focus, unrelated to the Texas trash . Good writing, as always, Dayne!

Saturday morning was the first of June and the first we’d talked about my mother in a long time. Last night, after we returned from the river, Gary made sure I was comfortably in bed with a hot toddy Joanne had concocted. He wouldn’t let me discuss anything with anyone, saying all would be clearer in the morning. He remained with me, emphasizing his love and soothing me until I fell asleep. After that, I was certain he left to tidy up the mess I had created. I did feel safer in the morning as t

I agree with Tim. This may be the first chapter where Robbie didn't emerge tinged with some negative action or another. This is a healthy Robbie. It's also a Robbie who will be soon out and that will be interesting to read about. There are a lot of characters in the story to react to that happening, and I'm guessing they will not all behave how we might expect. Good chapter, Dodger!

    Chapter 25

skinnydragon commented on Hunter Thomson's story chapter in Chapter 25

I thought the rainstorm and troubled visibility was a brilliant way to end the chapter and this part of Devin's story. It created a physical atmosphere to match his mental one. Also, the return of Bryce in the downpour will hopefully sink in to Devin before another relationship gets rained out and goes down the drain. OK. Enough water references. The year leaves us wondering how Devin will return from the summer vacation, so a great ending! Now we just have to wait.

acceptance beatific, blissful lightening ,encouraging ,blessing climate of comfortable calmness contentment – David *** Two things overwhelmed me this morning when I first woke up near sunrise. The first was the sharp taste of rebuke from my dream. The second, which thankfully eclipsed that dream, was my memory of his exquisite sign of love, when David gave himself to me last night. The dream was simple, stark and sobering. Danny was with me, sitting on that wh

A sad peek into Tomas's past--But a necessary one which helped us, and certainly Fletcher, understand the man a little more. Lovely writing of the waking-up scene. One could almost feel the bed and desire to sink into it. You have increased our desire to follow these two. Well done!

    Acceptance

skinnydragon commented on skinnydragon's story chapter in Acceptance

Thanks, AC! You know, when I wrote 'contentment' I knew its sound felt like what the word meant. I don't think I'd ever noticed that before. So I'm glad I chose it to end the poem because it made me--full of contentment!

A great chapter Rex! Like tim said, the slow buildup was palpable. If they get through all this, and I'm sure they will, the lessons learned will bond them even closer. And a little security is certainly needed. Too bad they weren't warned about the possible attack of sleazy journalism.

    Acceptance

Thank you, jess! No, we can't send David on to the rest of his life without some emotional stability. Anyway, this should make Twoey's job as his 'keeper' much easier.

Oh my, thanks tim! I know you don't read teenage angst, but you can appreciate that the introspection and 'angsty' part of his life is past now.

    Acceptance

skinnydragon posted new chapter in Quirky Poesy

In the story '18 Weeks of Twoey,' the protagonist, David, who was mentioned in the last two poems, has arrived at the final chapter. He has Twoey; Twoey has him. They speak of ‘forever’ but each knows there is a lot of work ahead. David is damaged but, by finally accepting who he is – over the objections of his mind, still trying to protect him from memories of his childhood sexual abuse – he has become serene and filled with hope. He realizes this acceptance will be the key to his survival. An

    Brownie Points

skinnydragon commented on Parker Owens's story chapter in Brownie Points

Aw Parker! That's just too good. It didn't make me sick, just made me laugh--literally--out loud! Thanks so much for this!

Thanks, Def! And David thanks you for never giving up on him. This new Twoey suddenly realizes he needs to be half of this romance, and he seems to be enjoying it as much as--peaches and cream! Only one chapter left to endure. All the questions will be answered and all the plot strands revealed, just as Agatha Christie would have done--NOT!!
  18. skinnydragon
Thanks, jess! I think David's in trouble now that Twoey has himself zeroed in on David's "damned thinking." Aw- come on, now. There have only been 10 gay kids, and that includes Danny. If the high school population were as small as 200, it would be normal. I'm sure the high school is much larger than that. But it doesn't really matter, it's only fiction. No sequel!! Do you really hate me that much?!
  19. skinnydragon
Thank you, Parker! Thanks for your comment on their loving. Like David said, "Look,I'm not gonna tell you everything!" Donny and Chuck ALREADY seem to be enthusiastic! One last chapter. Instead of a sunset, we get a fireworks display.
  20. skinnydragon
Thanks, spikey! Yeah, three chapters of peaches and cream and then, "The End" would have been a boring story. You're right in that Twoey always seemed to know about David's "thinking" episodes, even back to the time Twoey was in the hospital. The realization he has to sort of prevent it in the future is pretty insightful for Twoey and gives us hope for the future.
  21. skinnydragon
Thanks, jt! I'm glad you thought it was all worth it. It WAS an awfully long and convoluted story. Just one final chapter left. Maybe we'll discover the "no call back" reason.

Thank you, CG! Unfortunately, you were one of the first readers--before I discovered David's text, accompanying the picture, did not print. I know it might be difficult for your reader-software to find the exact spot, so I'll reproduce it here: Grampa! This is me and my boyfriend Michael—whose nickname is Twoey. Isn’t he handsome? Yes I’m gay! Isn’t that great? Maybe you can tell my family. Love, David! What I didn't realize, but know now, was that if you enclose text in certain symbols, it gets ignored by the editor. I guess it's used for authors to leave themselves notes. So I edited and changed the symbols, but you had already read the chapter. Sorry about that.
  23. skinnydragon
Thanks, Hunter! Actually, everything comes to an end in the next chapter! And thanks for sticking with it. I realize it was a grind at times. That's a hell of a lot of chapters for a story. Maybe the next one I write will have like 2 chapters.
  24. skinnydragon
Thanks, lux! Haha--maybe I should have named the chapter, "Couples." I agree that Ginny is starting off on the right foot. I think David was always a little scared of being sent away, although his father wasn't. Twoey's gonna be tough, no question about it.
  25. skinnydragon
Well, well -- it seems that Geoff is beginning to collect boys now ...hehe. Maybe he's ready to move into the 'mentor' mindset. That new foster kid certainly needs lots of TLC. At least without the spectre of the Provost, Geoff can act naturally, and maybe help some boys. Nice chapter, Carl!
