Thanks, jess! My inspiration for Galene was Ethereal. Links don't work in replies, so you'll need to copy and paste this into your browser: http://www.royalhuisman.com/en/yachtgallery936.html --It'll be worth it. You're right, Toph has a lot of allies now in dealing with Mother Dearest.

Thanks, spikey. You said: "And really he did this all on his own." I think we sometimes overlook this aspect of Toph's year. (so far) He has come a long way since Labor Day. The fear(?) of Mother is in his 'old' mind. What if she's impressed with the new Toph? I'm not saying she is, but HE called her appearance at the gallery an attack. But was it?

Thank you, Parker! It WAS basically a good half-month for Toph, all things considered. Mom's power may have attenuated, not only because of Gary, but also because of Toph himself, although that final shock made him regress for a short while.

Thank you, lux! The mother thing was sort of there in little omens earlier in the chapter ...hehe. But you're correct in recognizing that this is a different Toph now. He is much better at bouncing back. I wonder if his mother will recognize that, if she ever gets another shot at him.

Thank you, Graeme! Yes, it didn't take long for Toph to lose all the progress he's made. At least he was able to calm himself and confront it--and he has Gary now. I can't imagine what would have happened if this were back in October. Maybe everything will be resolved before Clarissa's wedding?
  6. Well for sure the chapter explained a lot of the mysteries we were left with, although it pretty much fell into line with what most readers had guessed. The phone was the last thing to be cleared up. It would be interesting if all the sons rallied around Cory and made the parents see what assholes they were. I said interesting, not likely. A good chapter Dayne, but not a nice one, if you get what I mean. C'mon lobo, rescue your kitten!!
  7. Yes, a little sad. But Parker, it was beautifully blue. (Do those two words even go together?) Very well done and I enjoyed it in a blue way.

    Chapter 21

Dorian is getting a lot more ink than his dad. Maybe he should be running for office! It was nice seeing the march being supported by the crowd of students. Somehow, this is not going to end nicely for Avery. Intriguing chapter, Ron!
  9. Thanks, CG! To cut everyone a little slack, they've only been presented with a teenage with a wicked hangover. Everything else is in David's mind and only *we* get to see that. As I mentioned to jess, even if a thousand adults were present, they could not stop what his mind is doing. Carl's comments make the most sense. Suicide is rarely a carefully planned and orchestrated event. And David's plans always suck and never work, anyway. THAT is our hope.
  10. Thanks, jess! Maybe we dwell too much on the adults. They could have had *zero* impact on David's spiral. It was well underway when they were all still around. A reviewer mentioned (a few chapters ago) that this started even before the crusade against PPF, and I think he might be correct. Even the best parents don't know what's going on in the minds of their teenage kids. And it's foolish to think otherwise imho.
  11. Thanks, Carl! I'm pretty sure you're correct about the 'spur of the moment' thing. That and the fact none of David's "plans" have every worked out as he intended gives us a little hope.
  12. Thank You, Solar! Such kind words. Never fear. I hate when stories don't get finished. The only way that would ever happen from me is if I get hit by a truck. I promise that I'll look both ways when I cross the street.
  13. Thanks for leaving a review. I'm sorry for your loss.
  14. Thanks, jt! I don't think it matters what reality is at this moment. David sees what his mind sees. I guess it's always been that way, but now it could be more dire.
  15. Thanks, lux! Yes, David is always rational.

    Chapter 15

Well, certainly not the best day for Jackson, and it looks like it might get a tad worse. However he's beginning to get softer edges and now has Luke at his side. Hmmm. Very nice (I should say interesting) chapter, Krista.

    Early May

Thank you, Lisa! Heartwarming--I love that! Toph does seem to be blossoming in his new environment. The more he softens those edges we had grown accustomed to, the happier he becomes. Hmmm--maybe a lesson for us all (even dragons).

    Chapter 22

Hey! We got to watch a couple ball games! Actually, while that was fun it was also instructional for Devin. Bryce's comments to Devin at the end were also instructional. At this point, Devin needs a lot of instruction (on interpersonal relationships) and I hope he's taking notes. A good chapter, Hunter!
  19. The prevailing opinions seem to be that Robbie *is* the mysterious boyfriend. There is a lot of evidence in that direction. But I don't think Nathan wants to be anyone's secret and he told Robbie it would probably not be wise to come out. "It would be difficult for you in that house." You also sprinkled a handful of other clues in that direction. And so, we'll just have to wait--well done, Dodger!
  20. Charles called, twice actually, to thank me for his portrait and to congratulate me on my show, on my paintings and my decision to apply to Abington. We had told him about Abington over dinner when he was here. He asked if I had been in contact with anyone else from the family. “Only Clarence’s apology text, when I was in Texas.” “Do you want me to suggest anything to anyone? Maybe explain your exhibit? Recommend they contact you?” “No. Please don’t. I’m not ready yet, and I’m pretty sure the

  22. So wise, so young, they say, do never live long. Richard III - WS *** Twoey was gently rubbing my back. It felt so good to have my boyfriend rub my back. I was still groggy. I thought of opening my eyes, but they were refusing to do what I had asked of them. Then I realized it was a dream I was awakening from. Twoey was not my boyfriend! But someone actually was rubbing my back. I slowly lifted my head but couldn’t see anything. My eyes were stuck shut! I began to be aware of a dull
  23. Thanks, Lisa! Yes, there is definitely a little barrier blocking David's path between what he understands and then acting on it. But it's always been this way. The only difference is that now the stakes are so much greater and his control is so much less. Rocky times ahead.
  24. Thanks, Lisa! Haha--you sounded exactly like a spikey rant! That's what you get for binge reading chapters of Twoey! Now take my advice. The next several chapters are even MORE emotionally challenging and intense, so take your time reading them.
  25. Thanks, Lisa! This was one of those times it was good Twoey had the full compliment of friends behind him. No way would they have let him get sucked back into Erik's little prison. Yeah, it doesn't pay to be a threat to one of Gary's gang, does it? Everyone is lamenting the lack of adults during this critical period between Christmas and New Years. But when has the presence of those adults ever made much of a difference? They might as well all take off, for all that it matters.
