  1. It’s more the definition than the actual term that is important here. I’ve seen these type of warnings on chapters I’ve reading as a way of letting the reader know something they don’t want to read - for whatever reason really - is happening in that particular chapter. A tag just tells you it’s in the story, but not where it is, so a warning at the beginning of the pertinent chapter is very helpful. A warning at the start of a chapter that something is going to happen - eg. an assault, rape etc.- allows a reader who might be triggered by reading that type scene to skip that passage, but be able to read the rest of the story.
  2. A delightful and unexpected read this early morn. The description of Mallow’s antics at the dog park reminded me of the dog I had as a kid, so thanks for the walk down memory lane. As for the Turkish mystery? We need another prompt to continue this story... As always, nicely done, tim, nicely done.
  3. Not done yet, but I beg to differ, I think it has done exactly what it is supposed to do. Just saying...
  4. Triggers are anything that remind someone of previous trauma. To be triggered is to have an intense emotional or physical reaction, such as a panic attack, after encountering a trigger.
  5. There’s a snow in the forecast for my area tomorrow. I mean, really?
  6. Hope today was a better day, tim.
  7. Just came in from clearing twigs of varying sizes (many I had to snap to fit into the yard bag) and three smallish branches that I’ll need the hack saw to cut down to a reasonable size. I also swept out the well to the basement door (can’t believe how much debris and leaves get swept into it) so now I’ve got my feet up with a tall glass of cold water at the ready - yes, I am pooped. Your little adventure sounds lovely, rick. If it’s nice tomorrow, I think I’ll take a walk down to the lake and sit awhile.
  8. I wasn’t referring to them in my original comment, but two characters I would really appreciate meeting are Don and Louis from Changes, and its sequel Change, Again by @Mikiesboy I did get as close as a visit to their favourite hamburger joint, but alas, they weren’t there that day.
  9. I really like this word.
  10. Thanks to the authors for all of their interesting answers. As a reader, I experience this a lot. As for one character (oops sorry, characters) I’d like to meet, you know who I mean, don’t you, Carlos?
  11. Good morning DiCers! I just witnessed a male cardinal feeding his mate sunflower seeds. He pecked around in the garden (there’s a little pile for them) then flew to his mate and they touched beaks (that’s what I could see from my vantage point). They both flew back to where he’d been, pecked around a bit then the beak manoeuvre happened again. How sweet is that, eh? I’m thinking that means she’s going to have some babies.
  12. I just got back from a walk myself, so I know what you mean about being able to get out and about. Yes, it’s too bad we can’t interact with people and pooches (you just know they want to say “hi!”, but seeing the enjoyment experienced by all is a great pick me up. The gift from work was a nice surprise. Have a wonderful day DiCers!
  13. Awesome: an excellent descriptor @Cia I have read Rob Colton stories and enjoyed them very much.
  14. I shouldn’t be surprised by this point, but hearing bird song as it gets dark/is dark still gets me every time I hear it. It is a lovely sound, mind you, so maybe that’s why...
  15. I hear you, Wayne. The neighbours’ little girl painted a hand-sized rock with a lovely message on it, and left it for us to find on the door step. Started the day with a smile, it did.
  16. Glad to hear they found the source of the virus, A. I like pumpkin loaf as well so I went looking for a recipe with Mr google. The following is for a moist bread and has a short prep time. https://www.littlesweetbaker.com/soft-moist-pumpkin-bread/
  17. Good to know, because I have all the ingredients on hand. I think I shall be baking tomorrow.

    The Moon Poems

These made me smile. Though the second last stanza was hard to read, the one that followed... that’s as it should be. As always, well done, tim.
  19. I’m not the praying type, but I believe in good thoughts. Sending lots to you and your mom, A. Oh, and this too.
  20. I hope you both feel better soon.
  21. If I could, I’d make this for you. Hope you feel better soon, tim
  22. I’m looking forward to reading this.
