It really didn't sound like much of a meeting, at least as Barry described it, but think the things that come from Doc's involvement will be huge. And think the effects of that meeting are just starting--nice to see Barry eager to get Dave "relaxed"! Thanks for following!

Chapter 7 Changing the Rules
Robert Rex commented on Headstall's story chapter in Chapter 7 Changing the Rules
Good job on this story. The detailed emotions don't necessarily make for a fast read, but they're important to understand exactly where each man stands. Time is the ice is gonna be interesting--but it's the "after ice" time we're all waiting on--bring it on! -
Dave wasn't lying yesterday when he said he'd start taking charge. After we'd both gotten over the shock of revealing our feelings to each other, we had a relaxing day, cuddled together on the bed or in the loveseat in the room, just touching and holding each other. Stealing occasional kisses, and trying to dodge the bruises as we manhandled each other. Only interrupted by the nurse checking on us both occasionally, logging temp and blood pressure. Got dressed, joined Jonathan and Greg in thei

Chapter 6 Double Solitaire
Robert Rex commented on Headstall's story chapter in Chapter 6 Double Solitaire
For me, the real hero here is Chet. Practical, big hearted, gracious, open with his feelings--he really deserves someone who's his equal. Shame that his quality isn't being recognized. IF the guys work it out, there's another story line out there waiting with Chet as the star. Great chapter! -

Aw, thanks Chris! <blush> I'm like you---I'm a sucker for happy endings! I really work hard to make the stories as realistic as possible--both in the way the characters talk, their accents, their responses, and their emotions. I'm glad you "get" the writing style and the characters. THANK YOU for the comments! You've made my writing easier today! -
Looking forward to the rest of the story! You've developed some interesting characters, and I can see the start of some good plot development. The pacing of the story seems about right. And the scene with Sammy and his dad was both touching and realistic. Good job! More! More!

Thanks, Lisa! The interview and questions tonight have been fun! Hope you'll get a chance to read the stories.....and hope you'll like 'em! -
Definately a hot chapter! But think Gary is right....Darla is an unknown--almost rogue--in her behavior. I know she's still learning her role, but there's something just off about her. We'll see--soon, I'm sure--in the next chapter, right? <grin>

LOL....I'm going to have to thing about that. Since it was my fist story, Mann, it was all pretty tough! I originally thought about killing Joe off when he was in the hospital. I hadn't gotten a lot of responses at that point from readers of the other site, but glad I hung on there. (And yeah, that was a side remark...I'm stalling for time.) Perhaps the toughest part for me was doing dialogue with the kids that are in the story. Took a while to mentally get that right. Early attempts were too formal (on the part of the kids responses) or had the adults sounding like (in my head) they were talking down or doing baby talk stuff. What's the line about never working with kids and animals? <grin> -

Actually, yeah, there was, Ron. Met a guy one night, and in a flight of fantasy, made up a "history" on him....where he was from, what he did, etc. When later dared by a drinking buddy to write a story, that character and made up history clicked. Lemme ask---what'd you find "odd" about him? Details, please! -

Well, thanks, OK! I appreciate your saying that about the characters and their "human-ness". One of the comments I got --which I really appreciated--was that "these are guys I'd like to go out and have a beer with". Think that's high praise, and your comments ARE high praise. The conversation part is scary, only because with the characters, I'm "hearing voices in my head"....I'm feeling like they're real people, and all I'm doing is reporting on what they're doing. Wish I could understand how that works, but trust me, I really don't need psychotropic drugs! LOL! Glad you're enjoying the stories. There's more to come on "Landfall", and think you probably saw the comments I made above about potential story lines. I'd love your input! THANK you for the encouragement and good thoughts--they make a real difference and are appreciated far more than you know! -

LOL. Got a bar fetish you wanna chat about? <grin> It's a fun job--but the real work is not just slinging drinks--it's what happens when the bar closes, and the patrons are gone--especially in a small bar. Lots to be done! Think it's a gimmick. Not at all certain that ginger beer has the staying power for other adult drinks. Ginger can also dull the palate, so not convinced the 2nd Mule is as good as the first. But some are convinced ordering it makes 'em sound sophisticated...so it may hang around far longer than it deserves. -

Thanks, Valkyrie! I was really worried that "Joe" would be too erotic for this site, but I've gotten good comments on the storyline so far--it's like the readers here just said, "Yeah, there's sex, but ....." and then focused on the story (thankfully!) "Lion's Lair" may be a challenge. Still thinking it through. Plus, there's quite a bit more to the "Landfall story". Thanks for reading "Joe"--and hope you'll enjoy "Landfall", too! -

Timothy, glad you're enjoying "Landfall"! I think part of Barry's appeal is that he's like so many guys we know (and we may be!) who are trained to always be "in charge" of their actions/emotions--and then find it a revelation when those emotions are released. And, when they ARE released, he uses the same skills to manage them he'd used in his business or other parts of life. It's an honor that you find the situations both plausable and vivid. Thank you for that compliment--and thanks for following "Landfall". -

Mom, I hope you'll enjoy "Joe" when ya get to it...it's a far different story from "Landfall", which is far more nuanced, and not as erotic as "Joe". I'm still tossing around "Lion's Lair", think the recent experience of a buddy of mine triggered that. Brian is 34, but he's met, fallen in love with, and a few months ago, moved in with his partner--who's 66. Both professionals, both with good heads on their shoulders--but it's got me thinking (dangerous!) about what that kind of relationship offers--and demands of--each partner. And you're right--there's too much here to read! Is there some way we can get paid to be "professional readers"? LOL! I take that back...we enjoy reading too much, I'd feel guilty for taking the money! -
Thanks for the comments, Lit! Yeah, think this may have been a real turning point for Barry--he's not going to be able to box stuff; he'll hafta deal with it when it occurs. And, it may be the first time in a relationship that Barry has ever been held accountable for who he is/what he does--his marriage seemed to allow pretty much free reign. Thanks again for following along!

Thanks, Quiet! It's a tough chapter--the doubts about self, the confidence in the other man to be able to let the feeling out, was tough to write! I want the feelings to come thorugh without being maudeline or mushy. I want real emotions not a characature to come through! Thanks for the kind words--and hope you'll keep reading. There's more ahead!

Thanks, Carlos!Think the contrast of these characters to others is really interesting. You've got two men who are "bottom-line" kind of guys, used to analyzing a situation, making a decision, then moving forward confidently. Compare their knowledge/life experiences with some of the young adult characters found elsewhere, and you can see why they think and act the wa they do. Plus, readers are smart enough to figure out the mental gymnastics that may be going on--their minds are far sharper/faster than mine--and I'd do a disservice by going into minute detal. And yet, the emotions need to come through as both honestic and realistic. And, since you mentioned the CSR discussion for my first story, "Joe the Welder", the "interview" with me is up and the discussion form is accepting questions. Since I've not done this before, I went to "Forums" then centered "CSR discussion" to get to the site. I'm also giving the shortcut here: http://www.gayauthors.org/forums/blog/258/entry-15182-csr-discussion-day-joe-the-welder-by-robert-rex/

Thanks for the comments! This is a different kind of story, one of strong mature men, and glad they're confident enough in themselves to talk about their feelings. Keep reading--there's more! Thanks again for the kind words!
-
Thanks for the kind words, Gary!Barry's admission of his feelings kinda got me--he's kept his emotions so tied/boxed for so long, now that they're out, he's having a real time wrestling with 'em! Thanks again for the kind words!

Chapter 5 Ace in the Hole
Robert Rex commented on Headstall's story chapter in Chapter 5 Ace in the Hole
What a chapter! Fine job writing....the emotions are beautifully portrayed, and intense. Waiting for the next one--gonna be a killer! -
It's dark. Surrounded by warmth. Soft even breathing floats around me. Light weight on my chest. All's right with the world; relaxed, comfortable. Open my eyes and look down. Greg's head is nestled on one side of my chest, Jonathan's on the other. Their hands are linked in a casual clasp across my belly, just lightly resting. The length of their bodies pressed up against either side, I'm the filling in a sandwich—and not complaining. Feels good. Just the act of moving is enough to wake Jonatha

Confessions of a Cam Whore

Nicely done story line, mixing present and past, love and lust. Looking forward to more!
