    Chet seems like a really great guy, solid, consistent; he knows instinctively not to push for more than freindship now, and think he'd be happy with just that--although he's hoping for more. You've painted him well enough I'd love to go out for a couple of beers with him! Be interesting to see how this friendship develops....for some reason, thinking there's a surprise or two ahead! Good job!

    Double shifting? Men to Mermen to Dolphins? And it's controllable? BRILLIANT! Not at all convinced that Vlad fully escaped. Wouldn't surprise me that he's only able to teleport to a nearby ship (not all the way home) and is discovered/eliminated by the spy drones/watershifters. You're sneaky like that. Fun story..and a great job!

    I'm like Clochette.... Jackie has gotta know something so big she's doing all of this to protect her brother and Brent. But I'm not coming up with anything that'd be so big she'd walk away from her child. I'm thinking Lit has it right--she's gone off the deep end! And Brent certainly has cause for concern over the whole "test drive" issue! Finally, the whole thing about "you WILL NOT be at the service" moves from bizzare to incredibly cruel. To deny the right to grieve is outrageous! Great job with this chapter. Your next chapter can't come soon enough!

    Thanks for the comments, Lit--and you're exactly right: those boxes aren't pretty when they're opened, and maintaining communiation will be critical between Dave and Barry. Not surprising to me that Dave never cheated--he's that kind of "stand up, no nonsense" guy.What surprised me about Dave is how emotionally involved he's become. The second he realized how depressed Barry is, he's almost frantic, desperately babbling to Barry to "hang on till I'm there". (And yeah, hearing him call Barry "baby" was endearing beyond belief!) Glad you're sticking around through the story--and thanks for the comments!

    That's probably the worst part of all of this for me. Barry was obviously a great dad, and the boys end up the innocent victims of all of this! Glad you're enjoying the story--stay tuned...there's more....

    Fax, I was gonna give the cop props for his moves--he's strapped into a moving car, utility belt loaded down (including gun and personal radio), he's focused on his driving, and STILL manages to do ok. Need to get him into some Saturday Night Fever clothes, turn him loose..and then see if he qualifies for 'Dancing with the Stars"!

    Thanks for the kind words, Cole!Think Dave's character, while solid, has been somewhat hollow, since he's always been supportative of Barry--we've never really had the chance to get to know more of him. Surprisingly, there's a soft emotional side underneath that calm professional exterior. I really think we'll see more of that--and there may come a time when Barry is put into the supportive role. Thanks for the review and following along!

    Think the next couple of chapters are going to make a real difference in how both Barry and Dave view each other--as well as moving forward on the next phases of the plan.Must admit this chapter surprised me--it's really the first time Dave's voice has been heard; and think it was time for that.     And the mystery grows.... Think the "mermen" have some extra tricks up their sleves, so perhaps the guard who was captured was also able to fire off some kind of warning to the rest of the "pod". That's above and beyond their morph capabilities; perhaps telepathy? Teleportation? Regardless, looking forward to the next chapter!

    Well, it IS a little calmer, but Barry's depression is worring--think your prescription may be just what the doctor ordered for Barry!Dave's voice needed to be heard; up until now he's been the strong, seemingly silent type. And don't use that "I'm not a two-stepper" line of bullshit here; just admit you wanted a couple of shots of tequila and have a makeout session with a hot cowboy! Own it and move forward, stud! And understand we're all jealous! BTW, enjoying your "Tidal Power". I've got a Nyquil hangover this morning, but as soon as I can read the next chapter, I'll comment. Good job so far.
