    Chapter 10

Did Jason just out himself to the boys? And, hoping there's a future for Lyle and Jason.
  2. Wow! Lots going on here! --Chad pulls out his butch side, and takes the lead with Roy; --Peterson suddenly becomes direct with his feelings toward his date; --Roy, who's been the life of the party shows off his emotional side that he's kept burried as Chad's "guide"; --Roy and Chad are recognized as a couple, despite Roy's hesistancy; and --Roy, Chad, and Peterson are all becoming more involved and building friendships in the community. And Angus, the big lug....well, there's a part of me that hopes Angus will end up recognizing Peterson as something of a kindred spirit, and become his "protector" as well as romantic interest. You did well juggling all of this!

    Chapter 9

Two awakenings for the price of one! Jason has his eyes opened not only to "the Brad situation", but also to Lyle's interest/availability. Well done!
  4. Damn, I'm impressed--you've almost completely caught up with the story in one evening!THANK YOU for following it....glad you're enjoying it!
  5. Joe's response could be from several things1) He's not good at dealing with emotions; or, 2) He's not yet comfortable with the "gay thing"; or, 3) He's one of those guys who doesn't think he needs to say it because he shows it; or, 4) Maybe all the above! He's an interesting character, and has come far from that first makeout session in the parking lot of the bar! Thanks for following along on the story!
  6. Sure that if Joe were healthier, he'd be doing a lot more "mardi gras" stuff! Glad you're liking the story!
  7. Joe made his way into the house, good arm over my shoulder, weak but obviously glad to be home. Got him inside, sat him in a recliner in his den, got him some water. “Wish you'd come back to my place, Joe. Don't know you're ready for stairs yet, boy. Sure you don't wanna just move in with me for a couple of weeks till you get stronger?” “Fuck no. I wanna sleep in my own bed. Besides, I only hafta get up and down the stairs twice a day. I'll stay down here the rest of the time, and if I n
  8. Welcome, TBierley! Great folks, great reading...dive on in, it's a cool place!
  9. What a tough chapter! The emotions really come through. Mark's relationships to his dad and sister are, perhaps, beyond repair. And, like others here, I'm looking forward to Jackie's husband's response. Trey's response is gonna be a challenge--with his deployment, he's not gonna be there physically, and think Gary and Dianne are gonna "step up to the plate" to help Mark deal with not only the loss of his mom, but the loss of his dad and sister. Looking forward to the next chapter!
  10. Solar, it's great that you're a friendly listening ear for the nephew--and obviously supportive of him and his quest to be more open. (Maybe taking in a 15 year old? My hat's off to you!) And, even though your role of being the family "sin-eater" is tough on you, your obviously big heart and cool head are recognized and respected. But, here's a couple of questions that your nephew might wanna answer in figuring out how to proceed: 1) Why do I want to tell my parents? If it's to be open to them, in terms of sharing his life, good. If there's even the slightest trace of him wanting to punish his parents ("See what you did, you made me gay!"), not good. 2) What's the reason he wants to tell now--is it his choice, or is he being "pushed" into outing himself by a boyfriend, or group of other gay kids? Bottom line: His reasons/motives in all of this are important. It's also important to figure out when to tell 'em. Holidays are stressful for most families, and may not be the best time to come out. And, like in many stories here, they may already "know", so a casual conversation may be enough--not a dramatic coming out event. These aren't questions that your nephew--or you--owe any of us here. We're interested, and want to help, but it's far more important for him and you these things are identified; I'm betting it'll make working through his decision easier. And regardless of his decision on this, your open door and open heart are making a big difference in the guy's life....you can be proud of what you're doing for him.

    Chapter 6

Enjoying the story--and interesting to watch as Jason starts putting together clues to Devyn's behavior; since Jason may not have been around victims of abuse before, I think he simply hasn't put the pieces together. And I'm thinking the reason for the multiple tutors is another form of isolation for Devyn, since no one is allowed to get close to him and maybe discover some of his secrets. I think when Jason and Devyn do finally bond, everything will snap into focus. Good job of keeping the interest high and the story moving!
  12. Glad you're here, Linux! You're gonna love it--friendly folks, and too much good stuff to read!
  13. Good job! The emotions come through, and having Trey's folks there highlights the potential of losing Trey from both the family side as well as the romantic side.

    Chapter 4

Looking forward to seeing how the story develops; it's got potential for all sorts of twists and turns! Good job so far! Also, great approach to use the special code to indicate he's mouthing the words!
  15. To quote one of my newly-favorite authors, "You're too damn good at playing with the readers emotions, you fucker. I had trouble with the damn fluorescent lights bothering my eyes a couple of times." Damn fine writing on a damn difficult topic. We've lots too many of our best and brightest--and forgetting 'em isn't an option. Thanks for reminding me of those lost.
  16. Understand how you feel about hospitals--the one that gets me is when they wake you up to check to make sure you're sleeping well!I'll switch to incandescants next time....but thanks for the compliment!
  17. Hiya Which, Trees and Kuragari! You're gonna love it here...good folks, some great writing, dive on in, make yourselves at home!
  18. Tuesday morning at 8 am and Joe's still unconscious. Weekend was a blur. Chuck, my cop buddy, got Joe's phone and passed it to me on Saturday morn. Brandon was locked up, and preliminary hearing set no bail. Child Protective Services were stepping in for the kids. Started calling people at noon. Called Joe's boss. His shop is doing a blood drive to replace the blood he's used, all 24 pints of it. Called Joe's mom. She handled it all ok—really didn't have funds to come down, and physically, pr
  19. Welcome, Trent, and Scary! You're gonna find a home here with good friends, and great reads! Dive into chat--let us get to know ya!
  20. Brandon certainly does "protest too much". Almost makes me wonder if he's got homoerotic feelings himself and doesn't know how to deal with it.Maybe there's unexpected romance down the road for him, just like Joe has discovered......
  21. Joe has definately been sending mixed messages. Guess he's struggling with everything going on--but think he really is a good guy, too. And, yes, it is touch-and-go right now.....but the next chapter will be out on Thursday, so hang in there till then! Thanks for reading!
  22. A date. After several hot, and sometimes public makeout sessions, a nice Sunday morn of hot sex, public recognition of us as an item, and several weeks since first meeting, we're finally doing a date? Definitely not a typical approach. Joe arrived at 7, complete with a 6-pack of Miller beer, and flowers, in cargo shorts, t-shirt, and sneakers, just like me. Grinning big, and cheeks flushed, “I thought it'd be a good way to start a date.” The grin had to have hurt—Joe was sporting a nice shin
  23. The best line I've heard: "They're ex's for a reason." The follow-up line when they're gone: "NEXT!" You can't deny a history together, but it doesnt mean you should try to re-live it.
  24. JD, his family trusts you with the concepts, and the suggestions of the other guys here are good. I can't think of a better way to honor your friend than to develop the stories, and credit his ideas as being your muse!
  25. A great chapter! You had me laughing at the image of Roy with his boombox playing "I Will Always Love You", and the intereaction with his mom was fun! You did a great job showing a man hiding from his feelings behind humor. Looking forward to the rest of the story!
