Ok, I think this is where I left off in commenting. Let's see: The crew starts traveling together. Malik's twisted dreams twist harder. Rhaelce reassures Malik that Naivres died because the kids broke the cardinal "don't play at night" rule, which doesn't apply to night time funeral pyres because: “That is when The Unspoken hunt for prey.” “But—but the festival and pyre were at night.” “Yes, with fire. To deter them.” Malik and Rhaelce kiss a few times... Instead of training with that staff, if I were Malik, I would have been like:

To be fair, vampires are undead. It's just that King Winter's family line is super-magically-charged fertile. It sometimes skips a generation, or in this case, skipped a sibling.

I know, right? Malik's reactions were legit. Oh, I can't spoil anything, but as one of the betas, I can say this series is definitely quite the ride. Also, thank you! I tried my best to match @CassieQ vision, though it's never going to be 💯% accurate. Come to think of it, I'm rarely 💯% accurate even with drawings of my own characters. I helped out another artist one time and the art they gave me back in return was so spot on, it made my own art of the characters I myself designed appear less accurate. 🤣🤣🤣

Yeah, I'd like to know what their ideas of machines are. It's also weird that Rhaelce isn't familiar with mountains. But if I look at it from the perspective a Floridian, whose idea of a mountain is the Bok Tower Gardens...

Agreed! 💯percent. When I first read it I thought Rhaelce wasn't being fully truthful about it, that he exaggerated what was happening just so he could get Malik to go with him. But it could very well be "I lost my child because this foreigner inspired her to sneak out at night to train before her time, I want him freaking gone."

Alas, that is a story for another day. Perhaps when I pay a visit to Robin and her family in person so we can solidify/affirm the details. She trusts me a little too much with these worlds we created together and their characters. 😂As for these twins, at least, they finally have a path home. 🥰

Right? It's like, yes, we want Malik to finally be considered accepted in that tribe and to bond more with his host family, but through grief!?!? Come on, tribespeople, give Malik a break! (Note: This is by no means a dig at Cassie or her writing, just reader-related frustration about the things that have been going down)

Worse, my version of phonetically always defaults to the Spanish vowels, so it's less "rome-sarah-silly" to me and more "rohn-sahra-sea-lee" in my head. But that happens to me with everything I read. Dagnabbit, Jeff. That's a darn good question. 😂 This is one of my ultimate favorite chapters @CassieQ wrote of the whole series, and I'm glad everyone else finally got to read it so that I have the relief of not spoiling anything that went down in it.
