I'm enjoying the story so far. Our protagonist has himself in a spot.
The cargo is curious. I see no reason to transport sugar to a sugar producing country.
"But screw him. He's not my king."
Kieran is seizing his own destiny and Rory's with clasped hands and proceeding with a bold plan for an alliance with the Fae. Although sketchily planned, it's more pragmatic than than Lachlan's blindness to reality.
My question is why Ryder's fated mate has chosen to live in a city among humans? I'm sure there's a story to be told.
I foresee many misunderstandings ahead.
What happened to Desmond was bad, very bad. Kieran needs to follow up on it with the only one who can deal with it, Desmond's master.
(I looked for the hare, but no hare in sight.)
The thing I'm having extreme difficulty with in terms of motivation is Lachlan's desire for power. Once Kieran marries and assumes the throne, where is the power? Typically, former monarchs are shuffled far away to live in obscurity.
