    Second Shot

Trevor's speculation raises an interesting point. I think the detective may be like a lot of people whom I would describe as "mildly homophobic"...perhaps even "subconsciously homophobic". They don't hate gays, but they are surprised when they realize that some gays like or love each other. They are surprised at the realization that it's not just about sex.
  2. I enjoyed chapter 37 Andy. It's good to see Peter improving physically and it's great that he seems to be in good spirits. I hope his impending financial problems won't become a source of friction with Jason again. I know Jason sill want to help and Peter will be reluctant at the very least.
  3. Super bowl commercials? Don't wait until Sunday. Here are some previews and teasers: http://finance.yahoo...s-sneak-preview
  4. Can anyone say "global warming"? It appears Al Gore can and with a straight face: http://washingtonexa...storic-blizzard
  5. I really enjoyed chapter 63. I'm glad that Trevor and Shane will apparently be friends. What is Shane typing? Is he up to no good? Maybe he will not prove to be Trevor's friend. Very mild cliffhanger.
  6. I expect Green Bay to win. That doesn't mean I am a fan.
  7. Jason and Peter really are clearing the air in this latest chapter and it should strengthen their relationship in the future. Oh, 12:05 is fine as far as I'm concerned.
  8. The threatening notes and other "messages" are for real. Here's hoping our two intrepid reporters don't come to any physical harm. Great chapter, Jack!
  9. I suspect there was a firm understanding if not a valid, signed contract before she became pregnant. You may need to remind her of that. I would recommend e-mail over telephone calls. It can express your appreciation without getting quite so personal. Some flowers when the baby is (babies are) born would be a nice gesture. That's should be about the limit of her involvement. Hopefully, you are not on the hook for treatment of post-partum depression. Legally, it's your baby.
  10. Q: What's the difference between a catfish and a lawyer? A: One is a scum-sucking bottom dweller and...
  11. Facebook continues to get bad press. I'm beginning to think the company really doesn't care about their 500 million members when it comes to milking personal information for more money. Now, every time you "like" something, all your "friends" will receive paid advertising from the "likeee". See the article Privacy advocates don't 'like' Facebook's ad plans from USA Today. I urge you to read the story. If you haven't already, please vote in the poll at the top of this page.
  12. Jack has now posted chapter 3, "Onion Fields". Will be back to comment soon.
  13. James, your erroneous title may later seem prophetic. Let's hope Egypt becomes more democratic rather than more militant.
  14. No lynching, Andy. Chapter 35, "Sunday Afternoon" is a great one. Happy days are back again. Thanks.
  15. Twins! Can you say instant family? I'm sure Mike will do just fine. Probably you too. You do know that children add to the complexity of relationships. Right now there's you and Mike; that's one relationship. Add one baby and you have three relationships. Add two babies and you have six relationships. Don't worry. We had four children...no twins...and we survived. Of course, I never had time to figure out how many relationships that was.
  16. Facebook continues to get bad press. It's the Los Angeles Times again that points out how what you post on Facebook can be used against you. The latest article, Insurers are scouring social media for evidence of fraud, should give you reason to pause every time you post a comment, status update, or picture on your Facebook page and every time you click one of those ubiquitous "Like" buttons. If you are receiving long term disability benefits, don't post pictures of your latest skiing trip. Think twice before "liking" a cancer support group. Very few of us would consider perpetrating a fraud, but insurers can mine social media to find reasons for increasing premiums or denying claims. I urge you to read the story. If you haven't already, please vote in the poll at the top of this page.

    Chapter 1

Sam, a most intriguing and unusual story. Is escape his objective or is Zax displaying that he is a paragon himself?
  18. Twins? What great news! You will both be great dads. It's only a matter of time now.
  19. Death is a part of life. We should always be prepared for it...the death of others and our own. Shedding tears is a part of the grieving process, but fearing death is of no value to the living.
  20. Happy Birthday, Joey!
  21. That is very true. I live on the "third coast". We have one thing the west coast doesn't have...seasons.
  22. Here's a fun one...maybe a wild one. Describe how you sometimes feel. Make it funny. Keep it clean. The only other rule? Your entry must begin with the words "Sometimes I feel like". Here's an example for starters: Sometimes I feel like the whole world is a tuxedo and I'm a pair of brown shoes.
