  1. Adorable.
  2. I use the old MS Word 2002 and find it reliable. My wife uses the Open Office word processor and has no problem reading and revising Word documents. I would certainly try Open Office for free before I would give Microsoft any of my hard earned money.
  3. I think that describes me, Mark. I am socially liberal and fiscally conservative. I am also one of the old folks...social security and medicare...but I am no sage. Sages are like the herb of the same name...best in small quantities.

    What to do?

Over the years, I donated approximately three gallons of blood to the Red Cross. When I was diagnosed with cancer, I immediately became unacceptable. That was 12 years ago and I still receive mail and phone calls asking me to donate. It doesn't matter how often I remind them or request they remove me from their contact list. It is aggravating. The best advice I can give you is to ignore the requests and don't violate the established protocols. Tell them you have cancer; if you are lying anyway, you might as well get a little sympathy.
  5. That's a good point. Some old people are sages and some are simply old. The results of the last election would indicate that youger people are more liberal (a generalization). It's important to remember that most older people are retired; they no longer control their own destinies. They are dependent on their life's savings to see them through and look askance at change. President Obama promised change. That was a red flag to many older people (and conservatives generally) made more significant by a lack understanding of those changes. No one, regardless of age or experience...not even sages...should be condescending toward another's ideas.
  6. Chase, you will get over that sometime in the next 40 or 50 years. Seriously, you should do what you enjoy at every stage of life as long as you do no injury to yourself or anyone else. Party on; just stop before you wear yourself out. I bet if you said you wanted to stay home and cuddle, Justin would be all for it.
  7. Hmmm...goats are nothing if not persistent. I prefer the brotherly aspects of Let the Music Play, but Changing Lanes is about developing other relationships, especially for Eric. That's good, too.
  8. When I first saw the title, I thought this was the chapter where Jerry would get his well-deserved reward and all the cliffhangers would be resolved. I overestimated the goat's willingness to do that. It's a great chapter, plenty of action, but still far from the end. Who will rescue Eric and Brandon?
  9. Thanks for the insights, Chase. You sound normal in an abnormal sort of way. I've enjoyed reading all your blogs, but agree with Lacey that this is the best.
  10. Happy Birthday, Jovian! #21
  11. Every good idea gets some negative reactions. Occasionally, they are worth considering, but ultimately they are only minor hurdles. Keep plugging away. I like Hoskins' suggestions except I think goats aren't particularly newsworthy.
  12. So...did you make it to the British Museum?

    Pee Mail

Clever outlook on a mundane event, Mark. Thanks for that. Vic, I think it's a Federal offense to tamper with the mail.
  14. Tell us about your recent European escapade. The pictures you shared are very good.
  15. I think the volcanic ash is a bigger problem on the east side of the island. The route through the tunnel keeps you out of the ash longer when headed to the airport. That's all pre-eruption, of course.
  16. Did the earthquake shatter all the remaining bottles of tequila on the island?
  17. Cliff James has released Out of the Frying Pan..., chapter 46 of Changing Lanes. "We are praying now for the repose of his soul. Hoping you're well and not in hell. Nice change of air. Out of the frying pan of life into the fire of purgatory." ~ James Joyce "Out of the frying pan into the fire." ~ Quintus Septimius Tertullianus, De Carne Christi, Carthaginian church father (160 AD - 230 AD)
  18. That will be 3 pm EDT, I think. Don't understand why some states opt out of DST.
  19. Fisherman's Wharf and Ghiradelli Square are big tourist attractions, both easily accessible by cable car. The cable car museum is also very interesting.
  20. I hate haggling for a car almost as much as I hate overpaying for one. When we bought a used car recently, I hired a professional haggler. He not only got a good deal, he got the dealer to pay his fee.
  21. Thanks, Eric. Actually, I have slender legs...not enough meat to satisfy anyone's hunger.
  22. Nick, Have you considered a late model used car? You can get a very good car and save thousands. Sorry, I know nothing of street bikes. I'll pass on Boxer.
  23. Don't waste your money on an appetizer. It will only spoil your appetite.
  24. I would point out to everyone, especially Cliff James, that goats have much more meat on them than frogs. Let's work up an appetite.
