    It's a Boys World

This will fascinate me! I read a lot of High School accounts of what this was like for us, but haven't read too many about the college experience. I like that you prefaced your story with this chapter though. It reflects some of my own experiences...My 'Joey' was Jose and he was rather more direct. I enjoy continuing this story. Thanks for posting it here.
  2. I look forward to it, Rip. We are of an age, it will be interestin to see if our live parallel one another's in any way.
  3. Stay strong, Darlin'. If it is meant to be then it will be.
  4. Authors create in a vacuum if they have no one willing to read their work.

    Incense

Thank you! Yes...one of my favorites is Tennyson. My other is Blake. I was inspired by current events in my life today.

    Incense

Before your Remembering Stone I softly here kneel I am detached but not alone I deeply do feel Within my quivering hand there is A scented symbol A sweet offering before his starkly etched sigil One mere stick wrapped in blackest coal A wand of Incense When once lit works to seek your soul beyond death's black fence My love rises on scented smoke A holy sweet perfume That this Incense seeks to invoke Your life beyond this tomb

  12. I wish my poetry powers worked that way, but one a day is not possible for me. I'll focus on my latest one and post it here, though.

I'm so glad you are enjoy it Clo. Each successive chapter reveals a little more so I hope you will continue following along.
  15. Fascinating. The hunger I see here in San Diego when our Chinese tourists come over comes from this longing for a connection. I am continually pulled over by Chinese people wanting to know this or that or wanting their photo taken. They are in love with America! I would have never thought such a thing possible while growing up. Mao's era was just ending and the horrors of the Cultural Revolution were still reverberating though the Hidden Empire. American and Chinese relations were virtually nonexistent. Now a simple lost phone cracks open a hole in a crumbling wall. There is much going on here on a lot of levels. This man's experience is probably more significant than he can ever know. The Dragon is Rising...but it does so with a smile!
  16. Welcome Happenstance. As old as I am I'm in your shoes. I am just finding myself again. I hope that you can find some answers and makes some friends like I have. We gotta support each other in this world so I'm glad you're here. You're never alone, militarypress.
  17. Yes...soon!
  18. Rough edges...being sanded down...little by little
  19. Me too. I actually didn't watch it until a few years later when I was nostalgic for the 80s. I fell in love with Simple Minds before this came out but it was a selling point for me on this fim that John Hughes showcased Don't You (da daa deee deee) Forget About Me in the film and made them international stars!
  20. Brian has Snowflake for a coach! He can do anything...especially in pop fiction. Sparring...think Bogie and Hepburn in The African Queen. If you haven't seen that John Houston classic...treat yourself one day.
  21. Thank you so much! That's what I'm aiming for. 3D characters.
  22. We'll find out pretty soon!
  23. ~~~~~~ Brian So, Snowflake. He's like: "Yes. I was nicknamed 'Lumihiutale' back home. Most Americans find that impossible to pronounce so it basically translates as Snowflake." Ok. I can't even pronounce his given name right; I'm not even going to attempt Luma-whattie or whatever. I get my mental chessboard out. Time to get him to give me an opening into what I'm dealing with here. I comment: "Seems legit. Seems appropriate for a ski instructor. I'm sure there
  24. Yes. I support this notion.
