    This chapter could be titled: “Uh-oh.” Ahmet and Matt are caught in the web of a deadly spider. Andrew is walking back into a world of fiction writing he left behind for something more stimulating. I can see and feel storm clouds gathering.

    I read this chapter with a sadness in my heart. Matt accedes to fate, knowing the alternatives are worse. That cannot make what he experiences any less bitter. For Andrew, his purposefulness and industry seem tinged with regret and another kind of sadness, despite his being back in the safety of home. You’ve written this really well. These feelings jump off the page.

    How deeply dark the last line is: The ship is where he keeps his secrets. How many people are privy to those secrets? How quickly can those secrets be erased forever at the bark of a gun? And how long will it be until Matt and the other young men he never meets have erased themselves in the course of their captivity? This is a chilling and sad chapter.

    Mr. Black is about as chilling an individual as I could imagine. His heart appears to be made of stone, or maybe cold, hard cash. How much did he profit from the auction, I wonder? While Andrew appears to be safe for the moment, Matt is headed off into a shadowed and unhappy existence. One doubts it will be nicer than what he had before he was captured, as Black implies. Another engrossing chapter - You have me wanting more.

    I’ve been away in the deep forests with no signal. Now I’ve caught up! I remain riveted. I can feel the tension in those who love Andrew: Maeve, Robert and Doreen share my misgivings. Andrew himself must be half-thrilled at the culmination of his covert inquiries, and half-petrified at the danger he is running. This is a fantastic story!

    Matt is now firmly in the grip of the network, the machine. What will happen to him? The unknown would surely drive his fears. And what might happen to Andrew, who is seeking to interview the machine, to understand it and report on it? Will he, too, be caught in its gears? I’m really engaged in this story! It’s keeping me on the edge of my seat.

    Another Wow from me. I continue to be glued to this story, and completely wrapped up in Matt’s fate. You’ve opened us to new characters, even as you give us insight into the others we’ve met. I’ll be fascinated to see what happens next.

    Thank you for reading, and especially for thinking about Indigo. It’s interesting that the color refers to a deep blue dye, but that it has been redefined several times to be more purple/violet in our era. It’s deep blue enough to name the Indigo Bunting bird, which has a fascinating color seen from the proper angle.

    I am regrettably slow to comment on this fast-forward viewing chapter. There’s lots of emotional information here, but I’m left with lots of blank spaces in my head. Now I want to know more about how Liam came to be in that barren, lonely B&B. I also want to know how, and on what terms, Ed and Liam parted. And will Liam ever be able to walk forward into life without overwhelming fear? That you’ve written this chapter in such a way as to whet my appetite for more is a testament to your skillful writing. Thank you.
