You see things very clearly. That one we admit into our hearts can be our undoing, can’t it? Glad you liked the charactizations in stanza two. Thank you so much for reading this one!
Masquerade
Who are these figures in the dance
of Autumn's heady, sweet romance?
I know I ought to recognize
their faces as they sport and prance.
I know Attraction by his eyes,
and Mystery goes in disguise,
see how Seduction rocks and sways
to bring his partner up to size.
But there are others in my gaze
on whom my wishful thinking plays,
broad shouldered, blond, with smile serene,
and tinted orbs in blues and greys.
Love's retinue I
I am still reeling from Election Day, 2016. CJ’s reaction was understated, compared to my own. He did amazingly well, did all that he could do - and you entertained us with it all along the way. Thank you for the ride, my friend.
anniversary speaks to me in reflective words of steadfastness, of love, of shelter.
beacon shines in the darkness, radiating words of hope and faith and strength.
One seems to send the spirit inward, the other, outward. Together, they are even more beautiful than they are singly.
Happy Anniversary, tim and Michael.
Blessing and being blessed with those you love and take joy in - that’s the delight of Christmas. You say this so well, it makes me smile.
Merry Christmas, tim, to you and Michael.
Some wonderful things in this chapter: Galen connects with another injured creature; connecting again with Josh; getting professional help. Miracles aren’t happening overnight, but hope gleams on the horizon. Thank you!
I could not agree more. When I run into trouble in my writing, it’s often because there is something in it that begs for research, for better information to guide me and the story. Your writing clearly benefits from your research - it’s wonderfully crafted and utterly believable.
Your kind words made me smile. That this could conjure images and sounds for you is surely testament to the delight in sharing poetry. The silent watching and listening is both erotic and loving, I hope. Thank you; I am so very glad you liked this.
Sometimes the night is full of notes. I love the idea that these sounds sing to us - that’s very comforting. Thank you, tim for reading this one, and responding to it.
Thank you for picking up on that detail. For that reason, the whole mood and color of the last stanza changes, and with it, the tenor of the poem...at least that was the idea. I am so glad you liked this.
