If the video went viral, there will be plenty of people who see that vid. But you are right in characterizing the rather sad, puffy scientist as a sicko. But the past came back to haunt TP in a big way, and, um, pointedly, too. Sadly, I suspect the perv would have injured or even killed Wally, if Javier hadn't appeared. The internet is not an unalloyed good, is it? And there are wackos out there. But in another sense, TP is learning about angels, who are also out there, and appear at the most interesting moments. Many thanks for your reading so far into the story.

Wally has attracted several angels, though whether they are guardians is another matter. Lee and Javier both qualify, certainly. If this chapter and the last we're a bit unexpected, then I have done my job a bit. Not everything I write should be as predictable as it usually seems...many thanks for your encouraging comments. Javier Cabrera is clearly a very good man, not just a good mechanic, engineer or mentor. Wally had no idea, and then the worst idea about what was to happen, at least until Javier showed him what was really happening. You are right in that Wally doesn't want to escape the Feigenbaum, even though he may not feel completely safe there. Thanks for reading and for your comments!

The remaining hours in the Feigenbaum's January cruise passed in a blur. One incident stood out. It happened during his last morning watch with the Marine Technician. The labs seemed split between scientists frantically finishing experiments or data sets, and other researchers carefully cleaning up their spaces and equipment. "Wally, those boxes get stowed in the forward compartment below. Make sure the number on the shelf matches the code on the box," Haskins called out to him. "Sure thing."

Luis is definitely untouchable. That didn't stop TP from stirring a bit, but he seems to know his limits and boundaries in this new environment. TP is probably too busy trying to find his feet and his way to make too stupid a move.

TP sees and lives what it means to work and have that work valued. This is different to what he knew before. He is part of a team, even if he is on the lowest rung. What a difference. That's for your thoughts, tim. ...P

TP was very, very lucky. He could easily have been badly hurt or killed. Good thing he may have a friend in Javier. And the Captain was very good to him, too. Now it remains to be seen if he can build on that...many thanks for your review...

The art teacher is the kind of humane individual every kid should encounter. Not merely flexible and understanding, but essentially kind, as well as demanding. But you said ...every time...your read this..does this mean you read it more than once? -
So incredibly sad and colored in ochre and blood. Not pretty, though hopelessly romantic in its way. You write this well, and the conclusion is really inescapable. Poor Tristan, his will to joy and goodness turned down at every moment. Why must this be so? I truly hope this story is not an allegory for our own lives. Well written and memorable, tim.

It is hard to know what TP makes of Luis. You are right that there is much for him to relearn. Your comment that Wally may have trouble seeing himself in Luis or the Mate is quite telling. I am glad you think this good; TP is making a slow sea change, quite literally!

Not sure I would trust Wally, either. But in this environment, he is an unknown. Dr. Boudreau treats him with patience and some kindness, which must have been unexpected. But now the expectations are greater. He will have to perform in many areas, and cover for his own lack of preparation. Thanks for your perceptive comments.

TP just accepts the tag from Cookie; there appears to be a lot of abject apathy in TP still. Joshua may be far too intensely academic to connect with Wally/TP. Many thanks for reading thus dar into the story.

Cookie's personality seems to be one that draws others into its orbit. Cookie probably has reasons for choosing 'Wally,' but these remain a mystery. Perhaps it just sounds good to the order man's ear. Somebody may trust Wally, but you can hardly be blamed for not doing so yourself...many thanks!

Marc is a man who made the journey back to wholeness, or somewhere near it. He never wants to revisit the black places TP made him go, and he remembers that TP made him go. That he does not hate TP anymore is a testimony to Lee's love, and to the will to travel a different highway. Marc's story is so very different TP's, which is even now being written...many thanks got taking up the story!
