  1. Thank you, Clo.
  2. No, but I'm persevering. I haven't had any issues with the condition in nearly twenty years.
  3. Surgery for the shunt repair will be Saturday, or possibly Monday.
  4. I'm currently in hospital right now. Had to leave work abruptly yesterday, due to illness. Uncle Mickey picked up the kids from school, and Morgan drove me to Urgent Care, then the hospital. Doctors said the illness is Hydrocephalus, caused by a broken piece of tubing in my shunt. I'm feeling mostly fine, apart from a mild headache, dizziness, and nausea, which are being treated with medication.
  5. Same to you. Feel better soon, Dugh.
  6. It was mostly cartoons and anime for me. Jeremy Sumpter was my biggest celebrity crush, but Avatar Aang and Edward Elric were my first crushes on characters, rather than actors. Devon Werkheiser (Ned's Declassified School Survival Guide) and Paul...Paul Butcher, I think?---from Zoey 101---get honorable mentions. As does Nathan Kress, from "iCarly", and he's only gotten sexier since he grew up!
  7. Four days later? Hardly. We still have some salad greens and mandarin oranges, so I think I'll make a citrus salad to go with the quiche for tonight's dinner.
  8. Hey, Dugh and Mum.
  9. That's not exactly news, you know.
  10. Also, Max got an ear pierced. That was the "Big" present for his birthday. A Celtic knot in rose gold.
  11. For those who are interested to know, Max had a great birthday party on Friday. Michael and Peyton attended, as well as a few others from Max's school and ballet groups. Deirdre brought Haley and Grant over, and they pretty much smothered Max with hugs. All told, there were 20 kids in attendance. A few of the boys stayed overnight for a sleepover: Michael, Peyton, and a kid named Chase. Max chose a Chinese-inspired menu for the party, which follows: Appetizers Fried shrimp Tea eggs veggie-filled dim sum Main Dish Beef lo mein noodles Honey-garlic chicken (or cauliflower, for vegetarians) Sides Fried rice in lettuce cups green salad with pears and mandarin oranges Desserts Almond cookies Chocolate cupcakes with Matcha buttercream frosting, sweet adzuki bean filling Egg custard tarts
  12. LOL! Who knew Frodo Baggins plays basketball?
  13. There's no such thing as "cringe" where Dad jokes are concerned.
  14. I still find it hard to believe Max is turning 13 tomorrow. 😮 @dughlas @Headstall The 13th birthday is the hardest, isn't it? You remember when they would crawl into your bed because of a bad dream, or a storm; then you blink, and you're taking the obligatory photo of the kid with their prom date.
  15. Thank you, Drew.
  16. Weeeell...I hid the cookies and quickly washed the baking dishes, before picking up the kids from school. I'll bring the cookies out tomorrow, for Max's birthday party.
  17. My oldest is just two days away from his 13th birthday. 😮 Where does the time go?
  18. @clochette I made some sablés today.
  19. Glad to hear that you're well.
  20. So, what you're saying, is that you are still a teenager? 🤔
  21. For @Drew Espinosa: Why didn't the Romans think Algebra was very challenging? Because "X" was always 10.
  22. Your feelings and concerns are valid. Anyone who reads your work will know that the story was written by a person with thoughts, memories, and emotions; not some vapid robo-writer.
  23. Hey, Dugh and Mum.
