Crazy Stuff That Jeff Says
Jeff Burton replied to Jeff Burton's topic in Random Thoughts and Statuses
Also I have no clue if anyone has had allergy issues this spring but the last 2 weeks have been the absolute worst I’ve ever experienced in my entire life. From my skin, to my eyes, to my sinuses my immune system has gone to great impressive feats of attack on its war on pollen to levels I’m not sure it was meant to survive. It seriously needs to chill out because my entire being has been a blob of organic collateral damage and I’m not sure how much more abuse it can take. 😂 -

That’s basically what it comes down to lol personal preference. The laptop that built the bullet was a 17”inch gaming laptop from 2017 that weighed way more than it should although the amount of heat it generated in winter was amazing. Im just firmly embedded in the Apple ecosystem. It kind of just happened over time more than anything else. And I’ve been in it so long and haven’t had an Android device since gingerbread, the last time someone handed me a device I had absolutely no idea how to use it. Keep in mind I used to be in IT and spent a good chunk of my life in server/client networking infrastructure, but there I was staring at this particular device like it was something Sun Microsystems made in the late 90s that I had no clue how to operate. 😂 Still working on a solution though hopefully here soon I’ll have something. As for writing in bed, people may laugh at it but no joke I’ll write a novel from one just because. -

It’s been kinda crazy around here the last little bit. My uncle died and I had an odd relationship with him and he will be missed, but it kinda pushed me down in the dumps a little bit. Some stuff has gotten a little better over time, others not so much. But nothing to complain about. Apple just released the MacBook Neo and I think I really want one. I was thinking about getting some kind of light device but I really don’t need a cheap windows unit because it would be a waste of money for what I want to use it for and I’ve got a gaming PC for everything else. But I really do need something portable. In 2025 I did most of my writing either from a couch or just lounging in bed because it was comfortable and that seems to be part of my issue. For some reason when I’m at my desk I am anything but comfortable, and I’m starting to wonder if that’s why I don’t game as much anymore lol. I’ll get the Neo but it’ll take a little bit to get there I guess, but hey at least it’s a goal. Something to look forward too. i just need to slip back into comfortable, before I go stir crazy. In whatever manner that happens to be in. -
Flat White and a Fat Wad
Jeff Burton commented on Jeff Burton's story chapter in Flat White and a Fat Wad
Yeah my apologies on that, I had to step away as I do sometimes. I'm trying to get ahead on my work before I post it so they're mostly done hence the wait. Plus I needed a small break. -

That actually sounds like it could be fun. Almost to the point I wanna join in but my muse is on a break. Gotta recharge those batteries somehow I guess. -

Yeah I’m working on it, but my muse has these spurts where I’m on fire for a few months then I need to take a month and a half off so I can breathe before we do it again. -

I’m still kicking just haven’t had anything worthy to post either thought wise or story wise. 2026 is off to a great start 😂 -
Hey thanks! That seems to be my thing no matter the genre. I'm sure you read some of the comments on Chapter 1 and how I ended up with it, it was probably one of the best intro's I've ever written.

Glad you started it after I finished it then.

I actually did have an idea on what you propose that was born out of another prompt I think it was the one about two people having a conversation with each other. But the idea is a dude working for a defense contractor ends up being friends with a co worker and suddenly spy stuff happens. It was a crazy idea.

I haven’t made it to episode 2 yet. I’m trying lol.

I had a couple of comments that infuriated me on an earlier story, it happens and I tend to post like you do much to everyone’s dismay sometimes especially when I’m not moving fast enough on updates. I used that negative emotion though and double downed on the point I was trying to make in the previous chapter, to see if it would make it worse, instead it ended up clarifying the point and I got a 180 spin on the whole situation. That won’t always work, and yeah some people will nitpick on the details (the devil is always in the details). But don’t change anything to appease anybody, it’s your story not theirs. I don’t get too many negative comments these days because I guess the people who read my stuff and engage with me finally figured out what kind of story teller I am and either backed off to enjoy what I do produce or simply went off to mess with another author. These days I react and reply to every comment good or bad because it’s good for engagement, I write for me first, for everybody else second. I guess with time it doesn’t bother me much. And venting is good, there’s a large community here that supports each other in odd and fascinating ways. Also @Jason Rimbaud is not annoying as he thinks, but we keep up the appearance that he is to placate him. ❤️ -
It’s going to be a thing in one of my stories.

That is crazy, especially the Borg cube 😂

I think I got it nailed down to something I’m happy with. I’m just trying to nail down as much as I can during planning so I won’t be stumbling my way through it like I’m in the dark. I guess I’m trying to give it the literary justice and attention it actually deserves because with each thing you complete you get just a little bit better. Go figure that I have 80% of my anthology idea down and it won’t be due for …. a while. 😂 -
I’m seriously thinking about seeing if I can wing both themes into one story. I almost have a thread of an idea. Something about the colors on the cover art sparked something.
-
Yeah I’m not sure I can do this in 25,000 words but at least I’ve got time to think about it. 😂

Just did lol -
Took me a minute to get to this, I’m glad we were able to see Joel stand up to his mother, and get what he needed with Cody. This chapter is pretty much a cold close, but at least it didn’t fade to black like the Sopranos did, it lets the story continue without us being able to see it. Joel is going to drive back, the Connelly’s will probably be back from church, Celia will smile warmly now that he’s home safe and I’d like to think he’s finally able to freely share what happened. Franny is going to roll her eyes and everyone in that house is just going to ignore it because what needed to be said to her was already said. Joel will probably apologize for using diesel in the truck, Trace will tell him it’s money well spent then probably hint he buys the stuff wholesale anyway and has his own tank and pump somewhere in the back for all the tractors and what not as most ag families do. And they’ll just continue their Sunday as they always have as a family. A lot happened to Joel in the month we got to read, a lot happened to the Connellys in that month. Everyone got growth of some kind, and they are forever changed from it. So yeah it’s sad that it’s over but gratifying as well we got this small peek into a moment in the characters lives, and what we saw was exactly what we were meant to see, no more no less.
