    Chapter 2

The Eagle's Nest eh? Now where have I heard that before in 1944 terms?? A very interesting opening encounter with the Esperants.
  2. Ivor Slipper

    Chapter 1

July 4th is almost upon us and it is time for Charlie to assemble his motley crew for another adventure. Investigating a vast corporation might be difficult, but it shouldn't be dangerous, surely...
  3. Good to see the muse has returned and the story moving forward.

    Beginnings

I'm not sure what description you should apply to 1920. Georgian definitely doesn't work. I also suspect that even in 1920 the general attitude in Scotland was still pretty much entrenched in those earlier eras. Am pleased to read your reassurance as to where the story is heading.

    Beginnings

Am honestly not sure what to say because there is such a vast age difference between the two characters. It's a well written story, but that age difference makes what happens feel all wrong to me. Rather turns it into a Victorian/Edwardian rent boy tale.

    Justice

All is finally revealed - which in this case was always in (as opposed to on) the cards. Thank you for the last 22 weeks of enjoyable reading.

    TV Trivia

Funny you should say that as I had exactly the same problem 🙂 .Didn't like to mention it as he'd done such a good job with all the other characters.

    TV Trivia

I echo Gary's comments. You did a good job on filling in the important background on all of the boys for us forgetful readers.

    Death

Evidently the body was well preserved.🙂

    Chapter 12

A story that is not only good, but also full of goodness. Of course to say it is 'good' is a grave understatement - superb is a much more appropriate word, but didn't work as well in my first sentence. Reading it I felt like the proverbial fly on the wall with a privileged position to partake in a portion of the characters' lives, while at the same time being entranced by their surroundings. Summer in Ravello is drawing to a close; the cicadas and fireflies have gone and no doubt the swifts have also departed along with Claudia. She will undoubtedly return as will the swifts. We readers can but hope @James Carnarvon will also be swiftly returning us for another enchanting story in this series.

    Chapter 11

    I'll second that!

    Chapter 10

For Dani every day seems to bring more complications. But he does at least seem to have repaired his bridges with Emilia. As for Giacomo, the bridge there appears to be of the swing type which at present is neither totally closed nor open.

    Chapter 9

He'll deserve a laurel wreath if he manage it. 😀
  14. Ivor Slipper

    Chapter 9

'The course of true love never does run smooth' - especially so for young love. Marco is bound to feel that he has been led on by Dani after he was dumped by Giaco.
  15. Ivor Slipper

    Strength

That was a gripping, tension packed, chapter!
  16. Ivor Slipper

    Chapter 8

Now Dani has two friends. It will be interesting to see how his relationship with Marco develops as he evidently to come from a poorer home, of which he is acutely aware.
  17. Ivor Slipper

    Chapter 7

Dani is certainly an expert at getting himself into scrapes. 🙂 Maybe he should introduce Marco to Gianni, although that would be difficult I suspect.
  18. Ivor Slipper

    Chapter 6

Wow! That was a nerve tingling read. But the final line was brilliant in changing the tone and letting us wait for the next chapter in a much more optimistic frame of mind.
  19. Ivor Slipper

    Chapter 5

So what is Marco's secret - or whatever it is that seemingly makes him want to be unhappy and unwilling to be friends? Wonder what has happened to the aunt and uncle? If they'd been found by the authorities surely they would have said where they left Sami? Questions, questions. Over to you @James Carnarvonfor the answers.🙂
  20. Ivor Slipper

    Chapter 4

I agree with @drpaladin - beautifully and descriptively told as always. Now we have yet another broken friendship. But at least Dani & Giacomo appear to be getting back together, even if not in the way Dani would like.
  21. Ivor Slipper

    Chapter 3

Hopefully there won't be a need to rename one of the streets Via Dolorosa.🙂
  22. Ivor Slipper

    Chapter 3

It appears almost everyone is falling out with someone.
  23. Ivor Slipper

    Chapter 2

Poor Gianni. It is never nice for the relatives when death comes like that. And, to a lesser extent, poor Dani - although he at least had his suspicions of what might happen.
  24. Ivor Slipper

    Five of Cups

Another excellent thought provoking chapter. I just wonder if whoever ran down Maurice may have miscalculated. Might not the killing of her husband make Brenda more willing to tell what she knows about past events?

    Chapter 1

What a pleasant Sunday surprise to find the start of a new story in the Ravello series. A very intriguing opening part and surely having created the refugee characters, they must be destined to feature further in the story? Poor Dani. Just when he starts to think his relationship with Giacomo might develop further, along comes a girl to toss the proverbial spanner in the works.
