  1. It is a valid point of discussion and something we, as gay people, should be aware of, if nothing else.

    Interesting...

If you like Ender's Game, then you'll like Ender's Shadow. It takes place from the point of view of Bean during the same time period. Then there is Shadow of the Hegemon and Shadow Puppets which are the sequels to Ender's Shadow. I have picked up Songmaster and it is on the top of my "To Read" pile. Which most likely means Sunday.

    Interesting...

I don't know what his sexuality is. It doesn't escape notice that his best books are about boys... He is married though and he does have a Morman-appropriate level of children. He had to suffer through the loss of one of his boys not too long ago. A terrible thing for anyone to suffer through. He's a good writer and that's enough for me.
  4. I just found a link to us from the Orson Scott Card discussion forum. http://www.hatrack.com/ubb/cgi/ultimatebb....f=1;t=002553;p= Seems to be mostly a debate about being gay though. Interesting place to get a link from. He is one of my favorite authors, even if he is Mormon and semi-bigoted because of it.
  5. As some of you may know, B5 has a theatrical release movie that is just getting underway. Again, the bigwigs at Warner Brothers are about to screw the pooch by making the movie without the original cast!!!!!! Check out this link to see what you can do to help save the movie! http://www.keepb5alive.com/
  6. I haven't had much time for movies lately. But I do collect DVDs. I have 400 now. (exactly, oddly enough). My most recent purchase of Season 1 of MacGyver. One of my favorite all time shows. Moviewise, I have a hard time pinpointing ones I like best. The Back To the Future Trilogy, Star Wars (all of them), Lord of the Rings, Star Trek. I do have my own movie theatre set up in my basement. 9 ft screen... projector... "rock-the-house" sound system.
  7. This is absolutely true. There are two things to consider: back a few hundred years, a 13 yr old would have been married off and doing the kid-making thing. Biologically somewhere between 11 and 16 or so, nature primes the pump and turns on the juice for a boy. Are most 13 yr olds capable of the decision? probably not. But some are. I know a rather large number of 18 yr olds that I think aren't mature enough to make that decision. I know a number of 20-somethings that aren't either. I also know a few youngers ones that I think are capable. The cookie cutter age thing is my problem. What is so magic about being 16 years and 364 days old and not being able to legally consent to sex in NY, but the next day, you can. What happened overnight? Age laws need a more practical application. Perhaps this story was a bad example because of the authority thing, but there are others.
  8. http://www.foxnews.com/story/0,2933,146797,00.html I've been reading about "sexual abuse" more and more lately. There has to be some balance to all this? I remember being 13 and 14. If anyone... and I mean pretty much anyone offered to have sex with me, I would have jumped at the chance. At that age, you're hard pretty much all the time and even a knot in the fencepost looks good... Is it any surpise then that boys are having sex? I don't believe in all this claptrap that a 13-yr old is too young to make a decision. Kids are growing up far faster than they used to and have access to an unbelievable amount information. This is not to say that there isn't sexual abuse. There is. No means No whatever the age. But what about when they say yes and the government is saying "they aren't old enough to say yes". If you look at that age worldwide, it ranges anywhere from 12 to death penalty for gay sex. or 12 up for het stuff. I can see where it is easy for a man to abuse a boy, as very little cooperation would be needed... but for a female to force a boy into sex... a certain amount of interest and cooperation is needed for that. In a society where we want to charge a 12 yr old as an adult for murder and then turn around and charge a man with raping the the same boy because he's a child... (The King Brothers, Florida) It makes no sense. We're hellbent on saying the 12 yr old is an adult for everything and anything, except the ability to consent to sex. Sorry for my rambling... what do you folks think?
  9. Happy Birthday Jevic! :king: Many more to you!
  10. hmmm. I need more time to write, I guess.
  11. Rosemary Clooney was George's Aunt. I think my song would be "I Stand Alone" from the Quest for Camelot movie. I Stand Alone (David Foster, Carole Bayer Sager & Steve Perry) I know the sound of each rock and stone I embrace what others fear You are not to roam in this forgotten place Just the likes of me welcome here Everything breathes And I know each breathe More than enough for this man Like every tree stands on it's own Reaching for the sky I stand alone I share my world with no one else All by myself, I Stand Alone Deep in the darkness My heart still sees Everything I'll never need Behind these eyes I go everywhere There's no need for sympathy Everything breathes And I know each breathe In my world there's no compromise Like every tree stands on it's own Oh, reaching for the sky I stand alone I share my world with no one else All by myself Still I will remember Still I run with you, yeah And when it's time for you to go Take me in your heart Like every tree stands on it's own Oh, reaching for the sky I stand alone I share my world with no one else All by myself, I stand Alone All by myself......All by myself I Stand Alone...............
  12. I've disabled the auto-shutoff on the error he keeps throwing. Hopefully, that'll stop the on and off issue.
  13. Yes... I think his webserver is broke. It keeps throwing errors in the early AM.
  14. It is also possible that they are getting flagged that way if they are returned from de-activation. (The link checker automatically shuts off bad links.)
  15. We are running beta software, so some strange bugs are likely... Thanks for letting me know
  16. I've posted a bunch of The Sims 2 screenies here: https://www.gayauthors.org/forums/index.php?showtopic=1161 Anybody have any more?
  17. Here are some new ones. (Yes, that is Harry Potter watching) Another one: Nice Speedos! Yes, Harry can Dance too! I'm Jealous!! Give me an Awwwww! Is that Snape, Ron W., Harry Potter, and Draco Malfoy? (Why, yes it is!)

    Cool

Something you don't see, that I do, is who some of the guests are. Some of the guests on the board are MSN Bot, Inktomi (Yahoo), and GoogleBot. These are the automatic web "spiders" that add our topics to the search indexes. The fact is, at least one is always on the site. That's a sign that we're busy and have a lot of incoming links.
  19. That's because this post is about 4 months old and the attchments got axed in one of the board updates by accident.
  20. I think the situation is thus that people watch witch hunts like this Michael Jackson thing and others and they want to avoid the possibility. I still say that as long as you make no attempt to meet someone you think is underage and you avoid getting into graphic discussions of sex, you're fine. If they are asking about sex, direct them to a few informative sites for youngsters. And as Aleric says, kids are people too.
  21. There is an announcement at the top of every forum...
  22. The new version of the Top Site List uses email login and I've changed the board to match.
  23. Please don't link to homophobic asshole sites. They tend to do stupid things like Denial of Service attacks when they notice a large number of links coming from a site they don't like. And if they are anti-gay, we'd surely qualify.
  24. I recently switched pictures to me in my robes...
  25. Looked at that and dismissed it. Cookiecutter junk.
