Humans are natural herd animals. It's why vaccines work, and why anti-vaccine people should be shunned and charged with child abuse.

A very interesting flash piece, Myr. I like how with very little, you're able to capture, a reader's attention, and then have us wanting more. Very good man.

O. Henry Short Story Prompt 4 - Witches' Loaves

Excellent story, Agent D! -
It may say "Z is For Zombie," in the title, but don't let that fool you into thinking this is just another Walking Dead clone. It's not. Geron creates a world that feels alive in the post-apocalyptic sense of what happened during the Changes. It follows a brief period in the lives of a group of survivors who after two years, are more family than just a collection of people. And they are all under the age of 18. Five stars for this terrific tale.

This was amazing. I liked how the ending explained a lot of what happened in previous chapters and the fact that you used real science with the gamma-ray burst. I've said a few times I would like to see a follow-up, about the family that the kids made, and I still would like that. How, and what, the characters are doing in the reawakened world. How their families will deal with Richie and Jeremy being an out couple? How Mike and Sherry are highly proficient with arms? How Marnie is more protective of her siblings, and the new woman, Mom? Excellent job. It was fantastic.

Another great story in the continuing adventures of Derry and Cally. This time with Derry's Grandfather Mike along for the ride. More adventures, and more questions that need to be answered. Like the first, the story is a little long for one chapter, but the author has mentioned in other postings, that he'll break them into smaller bits in the future.

Just as good as the first, and I love how Nyf and Grandpa were added to the mix. I'm already looking forward to what's behind Door #3!

Morning Dreams and Autumn

It's what family is for, Bro. We worry, we love, and the occasional disagreement, but a true family has your back. -
Morning Dreams and Autumn

tim, my friend. These were well-crafted, thoughtful, and powerful in my opinion. Your explanations, did salve what worry I would have had, without them. -
That was AWESOME!!!! Since Zombo showed up, we've been waiting for the kids to put into action a plan to remove it. It was chilling that Zombo had the instinct and intelligence to lay a trap within their trap. But Jeremy spotting it, and then Richie, is a testament to their training with Jack. The whole running to the barn scene had me on the edge of my seat, worrying about our main characters. I'm glad the boys survived the encounter, and how they were able to find comfort in each other when the explosion happened. I agree that four sticks of the military grade dynamite might have been a bit much. But as they say, better too much than not enough. The weight of Zombo's parts as they went to bury him, was a shocker. Could be the extra weight from the crystals in the body. Still more to find out. I do love how the kids had a funeral service for it. I would have buried each part in a different grave, encased in concrete, but that's me. Excellent all around. I can't wait to see the next chapter, and what you have in it. I restate as of right now, wanting to know what happens after this story.

Then there's another issue. You start posting, as you finish a chapter and getting it back from your editors, only to have your editor, get so busy that your story has stalled partially posted, and you're debating saying: "Frak It" and just post the damn chapters anyway. Then getting PMs daily for several weeks asking when the story will be finished, and knowing that your readers are getting ticked off from waiting for the next chapter and getting the same reply of "just as soon as I get it back." Lesson learned... as much as you may like serial posting, wait till it's fully done.

Not just guys that age. LOL. I've been....um... *looks around* Yeah, I think I won't continue this in public, and ruin my innocent reputation.

Yes, and it's really fun when some of the friends you're having a marathon session with doesn't know you're gay... and you have some nice visuals. Agreed. I was in the Boy Scouts, where I met my first Boyfriend, and yeah sound travels a lot. Now, you're just scaring me.

Another fantastic chapter. I love the fact that they did come up with plan B, and it pretty sound. If they operated at night a bit more, I could see them moving supplies out to the storeroom as a "just in case" measure to light Zombo up with rounds, camp-fuel and a torch, or something else. The interaction between Mike, Richie, and Jeremy was perfect. Especially when Mike realizes that everyone is hearing him and Bennie jerk off in the middle of the night. It leads one to question if it's just friends having fun together, or more happening. Though when Richie calls Sherry, Mike's girlfriend, it brings up a whole other series of questions. Depending on the outcome of this story (seeing we have 2 chapters left), I would love to see a second book of what happens with the kids. Zombo issuing challenges is a new twist. I find it fascinating.

I think the only three of them in the story who would look, Marnie (who admits it above), Richie, and Jeremy... unless there's a surprise or two you haven't told us.

Yet another excellent chapter Geron. I love the look from Marnie's point of view, and the interaction between her and the other kids. Bennie and Mike remind me of two brothers, with their playful fighting. Richie's statement of Zombo being just as dangerous with his dick hanging out was laugh out loud funny. Even within our own Gay Community. It's sad that so many trash the other side, from religion, to politics, to race, to size, mental capabilities, and the whole zoo of labels we go by.

Another great chapter. I agree that the tone of the section was different, but I feel it was good. The stop at the library to pick up new reading material, would be a welcome distraction from what ails them. We also get to see how they continue their education after the changes. Reading, and then critically discussing their ideas and opinions is a step in the right direction. If there is a school in town, they could quickly get textbooks to do the same. While they might not think it's the best thing to do, it would give them something to work on and expand their minds, beyond merely surviving. The "unusual" jet flyby could be good or bad. I think Richie learned a valuable lesson there, about being a leader. The Military has a lot of experimental planes that we don't know about till after the fact. See the B-2 Stealth Bomber, and the Blackbird SR-71 (which we STILL don't know it's full capabilities). So, the low-level flyby could easily have been to check out the vehicle that the pilot saw moving into town, and did a low sweep to confirm. Whether it was good or bad, is yet to be seen. I also agree that they are letting an opportunity go to waste by not hitting the police station for the radio equipment. Or even an old fashion AM/FM stereo could help in this case as well. Weather radios and other emergency radios might still pick up government announcements if the stations are functional. Either still useful or refurbished by the government or someone else that is trying to bring survivors together. Grant they got Zombo, and have been dealing with that. But if they can make two trips after the ambush without getting assaulted in town or on the way there or back, they should have been able to raid the Police Station and fetch what they needed.

The strider cat moved swiftly through the foliage of the forest, in hot pursuit of its prey. It quickly caught up to the deer, a six-point buck, and tackled it with a firm bite to the back of its neck. The snap of the spinal column was swift and ended the pain and life of the conquered animal swiftly. “Good girl, Sasha,” Rune praised, as he walked up to the fresh kill. He made sure the animal was dead, as he set about the gruesome work of field dressing the buck. “What are we going to do
