In Jefferson's time, the kids would have been armed too, so no, it's not about killing kids. Different eras had different cultural norms. For instance, during the 1800s, there's a story out of the Midwest about how it was kids who drew their own weapons that stopped assailants from killing their schoolteacher at a frontier school. IIRC, this is used by some as one of the first documented school shootings in the US. Activism and sacrifice are what I would go for, up to and including armed resistance. Peaceful first, until you can no longer be peaceful. The last time that happened in the USA was in August 1946 with the Battle of Athens, TN. WWII vets took on corrupt police and the political machine that was running the city and county, and they won. I'm by far a non-violent person, and while I have my own views on gun ownership, kids being killed is never acceptable to me.

A lot of FL natives I know are the same, when it comes to the beach. Much easier to go swim in a pool, and a lot less crowded. Great as a kid, Teen, or YA but older, I like my comfort too much. AC makes FL bearable most of the Year. My thermostat is set at 75 right now, and I don't touch it. 75 is considered a Heatwave over in the UK, and that's perfect weather for me. LOL

Since moving into the apartment, I'm finding cooking for 1 person hard. I eat leftovers, but when I make enough for 4 meals, eating the same thing gets old fast. Sadly, my dinner has been turning into frozen meals you can pop in the microwave, or ultra simple stuff, like grits, eggs, toast. PB&J sandwiches too. I've looked into Factor_ and other meal subscriptions and not really cost effective for the long term.

I want a donut now. *Sad Face* The Doc says I need to eat a bit healthier now, and while I'm starting to, damn it's hard.

However, I would need to do it solo, as my bebezinho has a fear of open water, and he's allergic to most seafood. I've heard Virgin Voyages is great for Adults Only cruises. I also want to try the Rocky Mountaineer. Both the US and Canadian versions.

To my Canadian friends. I was told I should go to Toronto, and take Via Rail's Canadian 4 say trip to Vancouver in a Maple Leaf prestige sleeper. Any thoughts on that?
