My mom was diabetic, and we would sometimes stop a KK when their Hot Now sign was on, and ask for a dozen unglazed. She could eat 2 without her sugar spiking. They're actually not that bad unglazed, but a hot from the frier glazed KK is awesome. I don't have many donuts anymore, but when I do, I will sometimes say, "this one's for you mom." That way it's no calories for me.

Lost practically everything in the back-to-back hurricanes; house, car, 99% of my belongings. Laid-off from one job at the same time as the hurricanes. Lived in a Salvation Army shelter for a few days, while working with City of Tampa's rapid rehousing program. New job as a staff accountant with local non-profit that helps those who are homeless or facing homelessness. Engaged to the love of my life, going on four years now. Life is better, and getting better. It's my wish that it gets better for y'all too.

This is by far, one of the best short form coming of age stories I've read in a long time. tim's a master-wordsmith with not only his poetry, but also in is creative writing. It shows in his descriptions of the time Charlie spends with Tom in New York City, and later on when speaking with Eddie. Each word and sentence is crafted to paint a portrait that is more than the sum of it's parts. 10/10 would highly recommend.
