What is the point of communicating with someone If your intentions are meant to maim? Taste your words before you spit them out. Consider the impact of their flavor As they roll across your tongue. For once expelled, they cannot be retracted. Consider this: Will what you are about to say produce acidity? Or lay a foundation for common ground? When digital screens are donned like masks And true intentions hide behind software The act of typing words across keyboards

I was just going to say what jp said: Never preface a poem with an apology for writing it or feeling a certain way when it came to you. Poetry is meant to express emotion in whatever the circumstance or environment is. This poem expresses a part of you that many of us can relate to on a personal level. Longing, regret, self-punishment, the question of "why?". Keep writing and sharing. Cheers - Mac

you're a good friend. This poem holds meaning for me, too, right now, so thank you.

Forgotten: a Villanelle
MacGreg commented on Parker Owens's story chapter in Forgotten: a Villanelle
First of all, I had to look up Villanelle. Thank you for enlarging my concept of poetry. Secondly, this particular subject matter speaks to me. One, because I was that homeless person for a time in my life, and two, because, where I live, the gentrification has become so prevalent so rapidly, that whole families are being displaced, and there is no plan in place to rectify it. Affordable housing is non-existent. And yet, people get pissed to see panhandlers perched at every stoplight, on every street corner. They feel it makes the city unsafe and "dirty". Tents and makeshift dwellings are constantly torn down. I myself have witnessed policemen (given orders by the city) confiscating blankets and sleeping bags away from people outside of a soup kitchen to deter them from sleeping on the sidewalk. I started volunteering with a home-building non-profit that helps put low-income families into affordable housing. It's a small contribution of my time that hopefully makes a difference, at least to some. I will also add that the tremendous lack of mental health resources for so many people in need is deplorable. Can every homeless person just get up and walk into a McDonald's and get a job? No. Yet, it's assumed they can. Mental illness is a huge barrier, and if people are falling through the cracks of the health care system, they are ultimately forgotten. People would rather see them disappear quietly than have to deal. Anyway, your poem is brilliant and really got me thinking this morning. Thank you for that, Parker. -
For a switch, not just any old tree branch will do. It must be carefully chosen. you captured the essence of your special afternoon in the forest exquisitely here, tim. I could almost hear the wind in the trees.

Mrs. Cooper pulled the line of gauze tight around her son’s knuckles, enough to keep the broken skin from being exposed, and finished the bandage off with a clip. When she’d completed her task, Travis set the ice pack he’d been holding to his cheek down onto the table and made to stand up, but she pushed the pack back up to his face and prompted him to hold it. “Keep it there. It won’t help the swelling if you don’t ice it.” Travis slumped back against the kitchen chair with a deep frown. He

I like the passage of time and the anticipation of what's to come here. Like a slow dance, it heightens the sensuality.

your capacity for emotion and your ability to express it in words never fails to amaze me.

A-ha! It was there all along, waiting to be expressed. You paint a very clear picture with your words, each one precisely chosen to illustrate a moment like so many other moments that you and your boy share: trust, discipline, obedience, love, pain which serves to strengthen your connection. A poem you did write, my friend. Carry on.

'Bout time you wrote and posted something. This is fantastic, my friend. A familiar story told from a different perspective, full of interplay I can relate to. And, of course, hearing about you and tim and how you came to be as a couple - both vanilla and D/s - makes me smile. I hope that you will consider writing more in the future. Not only for us to read, but for you to use as an outlet to tell a story or two, just like this. Cheers - Mac

Better late than never with reading this. I don't know how I missed it? Very daring and creative, tim. I admire your ability to write in a range of genres. you push yourself; it's commendable as a writer. How did you come up with the rhymes and curses? Oh yeah, you're a poet. Brilliant bit of writing.

Thank you, glittery. I appreciate you reading and commenting. I know that you have interest in learning more. Feel free to ask me questions as you have them. Cheers - Mac

Thank you, Lisa. Dissonance is coming together, don't worry. I haven't completely pushed it aside. It was just important that I write this piece right now, for multiple reasons. You can write it as D/s or Dom/sub. Dominant is capitalized, submissive is not. There are reasons for that, you probably already understand why. Thanks for your comments. Cheers - Mac

Oh, it can take a long time to boil, actually. But I may not drag out all of the prolonged details. We shall see. Thank you very much, Parker, for your comments. I appreciate it. Cheers - Mac

Thank you very much, Mike. You understand it well. No submissive could ever mistake you, either. Tones change when you get online, I see it. As for Masterclass, I'm not so sure that's what this is, but if I can share some insight into our world through my writing, then I will. Cheers - Mac

Def, your support of my writing and my lifestyle is always appreciated. Thank you for your friendship and your comments. Cheers - Mac

Different and compelling... thank you for that, phoenix. I want to express some of the underlying D/s dynamics that not everyone knows or understands. I will most likely continue this at some point. Cheers - Mac

As I told BH, some want to be the person at the table, others want to be the server. At this point in time, you're still considering your options and what it is you want; I hope you have the chance to fully discover and develop that as you go along. I've said before, it's a journey.
-
Two words: Thank You. Sincerely, Reader, I appreciate it.
-
Thanks, Kitt, I appreciate your support!

Many want to be the one giving directions, and many want to be the one awaiting orders. That's the symbiotic beauty of D/s relationships. Thank you very much for your comments, BH. I appreciate it. Cheers - Mac

It is a dance, Puppilull, a slow, deliberate dance. That is a very accurate description. Thank you for your comments, I appreciate it. Cheers - Mac

Thank you so much, Renee. I will probably write more, at some point.

Thank you very much, Lyssa. I value your comments, and if you found it to be vivid, then I'm glad. Cheers - Mac

If I was able to set you into the scene, Caz, then I accomplished what I set out to do. Thank you for saying that and for reading this. Cheers - Mac
