No need to tell on you, I can read.
-
he's not much of a runner, but if he ever does, I'll know where he's heading. It's a good story. Congrats.

You couldn't ask for much more in a story than Sold Into Freedom offers. It's gritty, and hard to read sometimes. Matt is taken off the street, sold and then auctioned to the highest bidder. His life is then one over which he has little control. There are some bright spots in the people he meets. Some who genuinely care, and some who do not. Andrew is a writer with interest in human trafficking. He meets with the monsters while researching his new book. To understand how these two lives come together, you need to read this wonderful, challenging story to the very satisfying end.

tim, I watched you write this story. It was a hard road, but that's never stopped you. Congratulations on an excellent story. I hope you're proud of it, as I am of you. xo

I apologize if you feel wronged, but some people didn't read the comment that way and it's not the only one I've seen. That said, I'm not here to single you out, as I said, I have noticed similar comments from several people since the beginning of the story. There have been a number of them. Both the author and editor have been concerned about this throughout the posting of this story. That's what prompted my response. Thanks for your explanation. It's not my intention to blame anyone, but I'm afraid, I'm not one to ignore things for long.

You're a good neighbour. That's a wonderful thing in this difficult world of ours. I'm sorry to hear of your neighbour's passing and others with their health concerns and difficulties. Many don't care enough to become involved. You have. Matt's life is difficult as was my husband's. I wished for a long time that I could in some way truly help him. The truth is I could not. I could only do what I did and that is to stand by him and tell him I'm there, I care and love him. He had to do all the hard work, not me. Has it been hard? Yes, very hard. In weaker moments I have sometimes wish it were different. But would I change it? Never. The only thing I change if I had that power, is that tim never had to go through what he did. As the world gets harder, we need to look around us and help each other more, not less.

Writing vs. Editing vs. Beta Reader
MichaelS36 commented on kbois's blog entry in Escaping for just a little while
Well said. You may not be creating fiction, but you can certainly write! -
I hope everyone is having a wonderful day.
-
I've seen this written a number of times during the course of this story; references/hints that tim did not write this on his own. It's rather insulting to the author and puts the editor in a very difficult and uncomfortable position. Both @Mikiesboy and @kbois are excellent authors in their own right. They have both edited successful stories. These types of comments puts stress on both of them.

You're not remotely crazy. Follow your gut instincts, don't discount them because others do. As @Reader1810 says it is better to overreact. There are a myriad stories of people who didn't trust their feelings. Be watchful, be safe and call for assistance should you have further concerns.
-
he is indeed. I might be a little biased but, tim deserves to be acknowledged. This chapter... a nice night out, Andy puts his foot in it. Matt isn't scared off by Andrew's foolishness and they enjoy a day out. Matthew and Gwen plan their dinner for Andy. Bit of an up and down chapter. I'm expecting some great things from the next.
-
This one is most hopeful. Matt seems to be finding himself and his feet, even while dealing with his reactive mother. I like the line from @Flip-Flop: The women have spoken. Matt was used abused by men, held captive by them and was forced into a life where he had to serve them against his will, or face a likely death. Women have brought him balance and a safe place to be himself. I too liked the last line and Matthew's smile, @mayday

Lots of therapy. Will they or won't they are the questions of the day. I guess I'll be patient. Great chapter.
-
Matt has been through a lot. He needs therapy and a place to be able to be calm, comfortable and free to find himself. Others have told him along the way, but he really needs time and space to recover. Gwen may not be perfect, but she did open the door. She did say that of course he should stay with her. I think she knows what her short comings are and that Matt is in need of her now. Perhaps both of them will come through this with a greater appreciation, and respect for each other. Excellent chapter, tim. xo

LoL I won't tell my mum you said this but I get it. My father was tall, I'm the tallest of their two sons. Slippers work!

Secret Author Stories Contest 2024 Talking Topic
MichaelS36 replied to Cia's topic in Stories Discussion Forum
Hmmm, where to begin? -
Sad. Of course Matthew is disappointed. It would have been smart just to stay home, but how could he? Now his questions are answered and he can get on with his life. That won't be easy. When I met tim aka @Mikiesboy he trusted no one. It was many years after we married before he truly trusted me. I'm sure Matthew will go through something similar, let's hope not for his sake. I will wait for the next chapter.

A fun romp across the U.S. I think we'd all like to join this trio. For me this was very relatable and enjoyable. I live with my Sub in the D/s lifestyle. I'm amused that people think of it as DARK. Nothing is further from the truth as this story shows. We are committed, honest and we laugh a lot in our home. This was refreshing and fun. Enjoy the ride!

A sweet tale. I enjoyed all the hidden places and things in this. Very in keeping with the theme. Well written and not to be missed.

This was very close to home. I am very comfortable with D/s relationships. The boy's never run off with a wild straight woman, well not yet anyway. This may give him some ideas. LOL. I like the idea of a cross country trip. I don't live in the USA but I'd enjoy visiting again. This story made me smile. It was good fun. Thank you, SA.

Well. Matt's had enough of being under someone's thumb. He's going to strike out for Turkey to find his ex-lover, Ahmet. Thankfully, Andrew has shoved away his foolish hopes of keeping Matt on his island. Why would you expect anything different. Andrew needs to get his head out of his butt. Andrew, has staked Matt's trip, made sure he has papers...both good things. Let's hope these two stay in touch while Matt travels. Money may be Matt's saving grace. It can help keep him off the streets. I'll be waiting for more. Great chapter, superb story, tim.

The boy has arrived. Maeve sounds like my mother, except she's yet to swing brooms at her boys! My mother still does. I'm nearly 7 ft tall and she's 5'1. Matthew will be safe Maeve's hands. Andy, well perhaps not.
-
What a chapter! Danger on the high seas, Matt arrives safely at his new home. How awful to walk into a new house, where you've seen no one before. Maeve did right by feeding the boy and sending him straight to bed. The poor woman likely wasn't expecting to do this alone, but she's not a shirker and so got on with it the best she could. And we've been rewarded with a bonus chapter! That calls for a cup of tea!

Interesting. Andrew is feeling guilty about involving his family. Robert is correct saying this is huge and could not be handled by Andy, on his own. I liked the scene with Doreen and her thoughts. Parents/caregivers put up with a lot from their children but we love them and will do just about anything to help them. Sometimes we need to step away to see clearly. Nicely done. Matt is on his way to Andy. He has a week of sailing ahead of him. Is there a shipwreck in the future? Does Matt escape? Are there lifeboats? We are always waiting to find out more! I was surprised and happy at Kanaan's willingness to free Ahmet. Of course, Ahmet is right, he never will be truly free again. He cared for Matt and seems to be a decent man, it's sad but he's choosing life. I hope he will make the best of it and find some happiness. A thoroughly enjoyable chapter.
